This dagger, paired with the Skeletal Mask, Juvenile Scholar Robe, Traveling Maiden Gloves, and lastly the Preceptor's Trousers, makes for a pretty nice Ghostface cosplay.

Black Knife armour, two of these both infused with poison, backed up with the black bow for ranged support.
Both the blood and Rot exultation talismans plus rotten wing and last I usually go with stamina recovery.
Tears up everything very fast.

You can start a new bandit toon and bring this to dragonbarrow right at the start and kill the stationary great dragon near fort faroth. Takes about 10 minutes and you get 75k runes. Great start.

This weapon shares the same crit modifier as both the Lordsword SS and GS. However, both have much better damage on both backstabs and ripostes. With starter stats, these are the numbers I got testing all 3 on Godrick soldiers at Gatefront.
Great Knife: Backstab - 256 / Riposte - 321
Lordsworn SS: Backstab - 279 / Riposte - 370
Lordsword GS: Backstab - 349 / Riposte - 368
Now, considering all the advantages both straight-swords and great-swords have over daggers, such as much higher AR, these numbers don't seem fair. At the very least, the great knife should have higher critical damage to make up for having to hit an enemy 6-7 times to kill them, compared to a straight-sword's 2-3. Maybe the dagger's "S" scaling in DEX can help make up for it later (I'll have to test it), but that is a long time to stick with a weapon with significantly inferior AR and riposte damage.
I feel like daggers could use a bit of a buff, either in AR or increased critical damage across the board. Maybe even a slight range increase so they don't whiff (point blank) against large targets like erdtree avatars and gargoyles.

I love it with my black knife build dex/fth, since black knife and blade of calling is half holy damage and most boss resist to it, then ive got myself 2 of these with around 360 attack power each, but also 87 bleed build up at 9 str/59 dex/50 fth/14 arc

Farm 2 of this. Infuse 1 with cold and fire on the other then in powerstance u get rapid frostbite with bleeds proc. My only gripe is the reach of dagger type weapons are so frustrating but this wrecks.

This is fun to use in a dual poison/bleed build with Poison Moth Flight. At high Arcane, you can apply decent levels of bleed and massive levels of poison quickly, then use Poison Moth Flight for massive damage. When Bleed procs, you get extra damage on top of that (and it shouldn't take super long to proc it usually since Poison infusion adds Arcane scaling for decent Bleed). Super fun and does a surprising amount of damage in little time.

Has almost the exact same base damage and scaling as the parrying dagger but also has bleed. And you can always put the parrying ash on this as well. I can’t really see a reason to not pick this over the parrying dagger except for liking it’s appearance more.

Maybe just a coincidence but got 2 within a few kills after it hit night time, at night the knife wielding demi humans get red eyes, are a lot more aggressive, and jump on you to stab your face

I just noticed that this and most daggers have no problem using ashes of war that are supposed to be sword related like vacuum slice, carian greatsword, glintblade phalanx, storm blade, sword dance and so on and so forth, giving daggers a much needed gap closer / ranged /aoe attack option depending on ash of war, I find vacuum slice with occult scaling to be particularly brutal on this Knife, a whole lotta crikey .

I just wanted to share a theory. I did around 100 kills with the great knife equipped and saw 5 falchion and no great knifes. I unequipped my great knife and then it dropped the first time. Maybe its chance, maybe the game tries to not drop things you already are using. I was probably 18000 runes into the two at the start of the cave.

Unfortunately, daggers are kinda bad. Good news, this is one of the coolest looking weapons in the game, and it's the best dagger for most dagger builds. You're gonna need a bleed build and powerstance to main daggers. They're kinda viable in pve, but pvp... yikes.

Best place I've found to farm this weapon is at the Craftsman's Shack site of grace at Altus Plateau. Four little demi-humans hide among the sheep right in front of the grace.

I just found a Great Knife on a body around the houses in Hermit Village. It was right near the Hierodas Glintstone Crown and the Prattling Pate. Somewhat sure I didn't kill anyone for it so I don't think it was a random drop.

this dagger would be nice if it had arcane on it so we could boost the blood a litle without the blood ash ( not overpower ) like base its 38 blood.. well at 30 arc it would be like 42.. so you still have a good bloodlust without lossing your damage of dex

Farming the demi-human hiding in the bush in Lakeside cave, who is right next to the grace for easy resets, took about 30 kills to get a drop.
Double Poison Great Knife applies poison and bleed very quickly, faster than swapping to a poison set and an additional bleed set afterwards. These are great to grab quick status effects with little equipment commitment or swapping.

One of the best Backup-weapons since the very low weight, pretty low requirement (but offer a fine scaling) and the fact its still infusable with ashes even it contains bleeding infliction.
1. reduvia in one hand, Poison infused great knife in other hand

Please don't waste your time farming hundreds of demi humans like I did. It only drops from the little hooded guy.
Should be noted as possible bug/misinformation; if you look at its stats before equipping, it shows a boost to arcane and discovery, but once equipped, reverts to what I think is normal.

So this is just a theory but I’m sure you can get it from the dagger wielding Demi Humans, it’s probably a rare drop just like the Falchion. It took me quite a bit to get that, but I’ll be grinding for this here soon to confirm

Found it from Demi-Human drop (the small hooded ones). I found mine on Mt. Gelmir.
I was getting a bunch of farming done in one sitting today, and after the grinding tedium of so many other rare weapons in this game I had a blast getting this thing. Craftsman's Shack site of grace, I would run up to each flock of sheep with 2 demi-humans and just do 1 Alabaster Lord's Pull, everything within like 20 feet just drops dead, the pull part doesn't activate if the gravity attack kills so they just keel over. Good to take a break in the middle of other farming to do this and have a laugh. I got the knife pretty fast too, I kept doing it just cause it was funny.
