PassiveGreat Stars is a Great Hammer in Elden Ring. Great Stars scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity, and is a good Weapon for high-strength characters who can hold this weapon's weight. The weapon is able to destroy enemy armor, sometimes along with the enemy itself.
Huge bludgeon with three stars at the striking end. Though primarily a striking weapon, the stars' spikes cause blood loss.
A blood-stained star is an ill omen, a fact not lost upon those against whom this weapon is brought to bear. Landing attacks slightly restores HP.
Where to Find Great Stars in Elden Ring
- On a guarded Carriage being towed by two Trolls in Altus Plateau, travelling on the road southwest of the Road of Iniquity Side Path Site of Grace [Map link].
- As of patch 1.06, this weapon is also dropped by Magnus the Beast Claw upon defeat [Map Link].

- Weapon Skill: Endure.
- This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War
- Can be buffed by Magic or Consumables
- Great Stars can be upgraded using Smithing Stones.
- Restores 1% health on hit even if required stats aren't met, and even if blocked.
- Restores 1% health for each enemy hit during a swing, and for each hit during a multi-hit weapon art like Prelate's Charge, Lightning Ram, Wild Strikes, Stormcaller and Golden Land.
- With active Roar-type buff like Braggart's Roar, also running animation can heal when player is "point blank".
- Dual-wielding Great Stars DOES restore 2% health on L1 hits, though this requires both hits to land on the target.
- Sell value:
100 Runes. - NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, Great Hammers poise damage has been reduced.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below. Additionally, speed, range, recovery time and guard counter speed of Great Hammers weapons has increased.

This is my favorite weapon ever: its badass look, red color, strike type which works against anything, but most of all the heal. I love the heal, even if it's not much, it makes me feel like I can go on and on lol. I'll do my last game with it now, after more than 2k hours. One of my first weapons and my favorite ever. My INSANE build for this is Dual wielding them one has frost affinity the other has bloodflame incantation which reset frost, u gonna be procing bleed and frost like a madman, its very OP

Occult Great Stars with Poisonous Mist AoW is such an incredible synergy.
You get good damage, amazing Great Hammer moveset, high bleed and poison build up which allows you to easily get benefits from both Kindred of Rot Exultation and Lord of Blood Exultation buffs (which is a ~70% AR buff for 20s if you stack everything, a bit less in PvP) AND on top of that Poisonous Mist actually activates the healing effect on each of it's ticks, acting as a healing spell of sorts.

When people say STR builds are hard mode in Elden Ring, I would just show them these weapons as a few examples that STR isn't busted. Strike weapons with innate bleed, one of the most fun and broken weapon out there. You can go pure strength, some faith for buffing, or a Str/Arc build to make a bleed build. With the addition of ash of wars, jumping attacks, etc, strength weapons have quite the versatility then one might imagine. The only drawback is that they are slower. Combined with the fact that enemies being more aggressive and having combos that last forever, there are less attack windows available. Thought all the builds have their pros and cons. I wouldn't say magic is broken given how enemies behave. Yes, there are a couple scenarios where you can spam magic at an enemy/boss. Though, as I said before, enemies are a lot more aggressive as compared to Dark Souls. Having distance doesn't mean you are automatically safe for the most part, especially bosses. As a strength build you can stagger enemies, absorb damage, and get a ton of damage off in a few hits. As a dexterity build you can land more hits, get greedy with a few attacks, and proc status effects more quickly. As an int build, you can attack from afar, chain cast spells, and spam spells/magic-attacks. I could keep going, but all builds are useful at the end of the day.

This destruction tool + bloodflame imbuiment + Mask of varré + that freezing stomp + that red knife talisman + physick to restore HP and increase fire damage for 3 minutes = Malenia's nightmare. She will get guard-broken, she will bleed, you will recover HP for each hit of the weapon and tick of the AoW, you will recover HP for each critical hits too. If you also use Rykard's great rune, you're a monster.

Currently running this offhand with the beast claw mainhand on a bleed build. At 80 arcane the claws do 115 bleed build up and the stars do 141 bleed and I have insane mobility with the R2 backstep and ash followup heavy and mixing in the stars while trading or running people down. I am truly Magnus the Beast Claw 2.0.

2 of these with occult affinity braggarts roar bull goat set and bull goat horn for 100 poise with dragon crest great shield and boiled crab plus claw talisman jump attacks erdtrees blessing and the new lifesteal tear makes it so you can tank bosses and out hit them with the healing and shred them with the bleed and raw damage

Top 5 weapon but I (maybe controversially) got a bit bored of the Greathammer moveset after messing around with them on my second playthrough. I never got the appeal of wildstrikes+occult on this thing either... I mean, use whatever melts those bosses but like it's one button. You hold down one button. I wouldn't call it completely *free* to beat bosses with stuff like this (you still gotta dodge) but, I mean, at least try out some of the faster stuff! Quite a few of those "10 hit combo undodgeable bullshit" DLC bosses become a lot simpler with faster weapons and thus more openings for damage. Not criticizing, I love me a big bonk stick, but Greathammer/Colossal chads should open themselves up to new ideas once in a while.

Most combo-riffic dual-wield ever given you can slap 2 distinct AoW and have 2 distinct affinities yo triple-up on status-damage. Prefer Braggarts Roar + Poison on the left and Waves of Darkness + Frost on the right. 2hand the left to buff up, and then you can still use the right when you switch back to dual wielding. You don't technically put the left away, so the AoW effect persists...
Waves of Darkness with a jumping L1 during the gap is insane stamina-damage..

good lord, running through the dlc a second time at ng+7 with a couple of these bad boys and some cold affinity..
i finally realize the true meaning of power. tons of upfront damage, cold proccing in moments, followed by bleeds, followed by stance breaks, it's just too much for even bosses like messmer to handle.

There are many weapons I love using (rusted anchor, noble slender swords, spiked spear to name a few), but I always find myself coming back to this absolute amazing weapon. I know it won't happen but I wish that one day they do an adjustment patch that adds pierce damage along with strike, there's a few weapons that need damage type changes, none more than Great Stars.

No other weapon comes close to the potential of this one right here. You can easily get 2 of them in one playtrough. Infuse them with occult, put cragblade on them, and go spam l1. With 80 arcane you get 700+ AR, 115 bleed (each) and insane stance breaking potential. The heal per swing is just cherry on top. Cant find anything better than this.

Arcane Strength build: Occult Great Stars 2handed, AoW: Lions claw, Talismans: Shard of Alexander, Axe talisman, Dagger Talsiman, Dragoncrest Greatshield
Hit with Lions Claw and one charged heavy attack to break stance and if not already dead, you can finish them off with a riposte.
Flame grant me Strength gives a nice damage boost also for this build
Power stance + 160s toxic affinity (70+ ARC) + bleed and rot & poison exultation + buffs = saying "piss-off" to everything in the game. Poise also broken in 2-4 hits, a very satisfying bloody riposte animation from heavily armored enemies.

Something crazy about this weapon that I found out recently, specifically in relation to the Ash of War: Chilling Mist; The cloud procs the health regen effect alongside standard weapon hits too, meaning you can recover >10% of your max health with a standard cast

Such an interesting weapon, I just had to make build to exploit the hell out of it.
You get 2 per playthrough, and the 2nd acquisition only requires the death of one demigod, so you can very quickly get both. Even with the Powerstance L1 combo reducing status build up to 65%, you can still proc bleed 30% faster by powerstancing, and you double the the rate at which it heals you. Powerstance is an obvious choice methinks.
Occult infusion for the extra damage/bleed build up, Braggart's Roar in the offhand for DR/AR/Stamina regen buff; Endure in primary hand. Gotta compensate for powerstance's lack of hyperarmor, and Endure will do the trick beautifully.
Chuck in Godskin Swaddling Cloth, cause it synergizes well with powerstanced Greatstars.
Maximize health, at least as far as economically viable. Crimson Amber +3 Erdtree Favor +2, Fire Knight Helmet, Morgott's Greatrune, and Crimsonspill (or burst, I forget which) Hardtear. With 60 softcapped Vitality, the above combo scores around total 3.2K health. That's 31 Health restored per hit, 2 hits in an L1 restore 62 Health; full L1 combo can restore up to 309 Health; 186 Health if all 6 Great Stars attack lands; 123 health restored from Swaddling Cloth Proc for 5 consecutive hits. With that much heal, might as well equip the Ritual Shield Talisman, and because our spammable passive healing might as well increase our DR too.
Go for Resistance and Looks. You want some big tough armor, and a form that exemplifies a 3.2K health bar. Fire Prelate Gloves, Armor, and Greaves will satisfy nicely. Now you have a peak fitness appearance and a brilliant pointy hat to advertise how much of a big HP Chungus you are.
If you're gonna dump in Arcane for Occult Infusion, Might as well sink some points into Faith go full Dragon Communion Seal & Spells. Through some Bloodflame magic as well, it'll work reasonably well with your kit.
All together, you can squeeze the entire set into a RL 150 build. You need Hero class, and your stats should be 60 VIT, 44 END, 22 STR, 12 DEX, 15 FTH, and 60 ARC. If it ain't mention, don't touch it. What do you need intelligence for? Eating with something other than your hands? Screw Intelligence, and shovel that health pool into your flabby gob, fatty.
