The Great Turtle Shell can be found at the following location:

Weeping Peninsula: From the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace, look towards the east to find a Spiritspring and use Torrent to jump from it towards the roof a tower section of the ramparts. The shield can be found on a corpse atop this tower. [Elden Ring Map here]

Great Turtle Shell can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
Stamina recovery increases by +3/s (7.4%), even if two-handing a weapon in the other hand. This effect stacks with the effect of the Green Turtle Talisman/Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, Pickled Turtle Neck, and the Well-Pickled Turtle Neck.
Great Turtle Shell is reminiscent of a reoccurring group of stamina-boosting medium shields that have appeared in the Dark Souls series. First there was the Grass Crest Shield in Dark Souls, the Blossom Kite Shield, Shield of the Insolent, and Slumbering Dragon Shield in Dark Souls 2, and last the Grass Crest Shield in Dark Souls 3.

  I have a suspicion that this doesn't stack with the talismans. When using both the shield and taly the hud only shows one buff. Although pickled turtle necks do stack. 7 percent, compared to other options, isn't much anyway.

  If I have a weapon in my right hand, a seal in my left hand, and this shield as a secondary weapon in my right hand, do I get the passive stamina regen? or is just if is where I have the seal?

  I brought this into Radagon fight, infused it with Carian retaliation, and RIP-posted him too many times. The stamina regen boost was beneficial for such a fast and close-combat scenario.

  They gave it a 87 physical damage negation just because it gives a measly 3 stamina regen per second, why not 90? I don't know what FromSoftware devs are smoking. At least it's good for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cosplay...

  It’s alright. If you’re mostly two handing a weapon, it’s not a bad idea to wear this on your back for the extra stamina regen. Which isn’t a lot on its own, but can be a good boost to the turtle talisman. I mostly use shields for parrying, so the lack of 100% block doesn’t bother me. Like I said, it’s just ‘alright’. Honestly, I mostly use it because it’s so darn cute :}

  Growing to really love this on a int-dex battlemage build (mine uses the moonveil)
  
  Swap barricade shield for no skill so you can cover and use the WA at will (due to the passive). If the chip damage from blocking is building up, use scholar's shield (which works better than barricade imo)

  I min max with this on my back, and put golden Parry on as I always have a parry shield and dagger slotted. I noted when I started using this shield ppl assume I'm about to start turtling (ha, puns) and rush me.. which most shields are infusible so I don't get that. Happens a lot more than when I used small shields like I can't have a parry slotted because it's bigger. Baits a lot more easy parries, and is kind of funny

  I find it funny how people complain that this shield lacks 100% physical block, when this was the case in other Souls games that had a similar shield. Grass Crest never had 100% physical block, since it’s passive effect was so powerful.

  It's a shield with pretty bad stats that gives a very useful passive bonus... a passive bonus that still works when 2-handing something else... meaning this is best used by equipping it but not holding it... which results in the shield being placed on your back... this shield in the shape of a turtle shell...

  I can't find this shield in my game, I bought Elden Ring for the PS4 and my copy isn't updated to the next version. I went to the spiritspring and went atop the tower to collect the shield but instead of the shield I got Warming Stones from the corpse. Is the shield for the very first version of the game located elsewhere?

  Despite of fact that this shield is heavier than most of other medium shield it doesn't have 100% physical reduction is kind a shame
  +8% stamina regen boost seems pathetic when you compare this to other stamina regen boost tool like green turtle talisman or greenburst crystal tear
  at least it looks funny though I better use other shield than this

  100% damage reduction or 87% plus stam regen, seems like a reasonable choice to me. Every other medium shield would be largely irrelevant if this didn't have a weakness. If grass crest isn't good enough for you at 87% block, you didn't want it in the first place.

  If you use both the amulet and this shield, the bonuses probably stack in a multiplicative way, that's how most % bonuses usually work in souls games. Not sure how to calculate the final result, but it'll be lower than 16%.
