The ice lightning effect will persist for a while.

Ice Lightning Sword is a Skill in Elden Ring. Ice Lightning Sword calls down a bolt of ice lightning that damages an enemy. It also leaves the blade with extra lightning damage and frostbite buildup for the next 45 seconds. Updated to Patch 1.07

  • This is a Unique Skill
  • FP Cost: 25
  • Deals 23 stance damage.
  • This Skill is not Chargeable
  • This Skill can be Parried
  • This skill consists of three trigger attacks (stomp, slash, then lightning bolt), then coats the blade with the Ice Lightning effect.
  • Adds 160 flat Lightning Damage to weapon AR and 80 frost build up for 45 seconds.
  • Previously known as Hailstorm Sword on the Network Test.

 

Note: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows:

  • Weapon attack power has been increased.
  • Duration has been increased from 20 to 45 seconds.
  • Attack power of the effect that grants the weapon a lightning attribute has been increased from 130 to 160.
  • Time between the skill activation and being able to perform actions has been reduced.

      Would like to see two or three more ice lightning incantations to compliment this sword and frozen lightning spear

        How the hell did I miss on this and the gravity katanas for all those years? o.O Imagine being me in december 2023 and finding out there are two more magic katanas in the game you thought you 100%ed in 2022

          The scaling on the lightning strike attack (AtkParam_Pc id 30090011) seems to be bugged - it scales from Int and Fai, but Dragonscale Blade has 0 in both which results in no stat scaling. Also it has 0 added damage (very unusual for Bullet attacks) and uses the weapon AR under some motion values. The ID is also sus because three other attacks of this ash have IDs of 300900110, 300900113 and 300900114 - it looks like the devs missed one digit and it should have been 300900111 instead. Sadly there is 0% chance of fromsoftware ever noticing this...

              Would anyone happen to know if the slash and/or lightning strike portion of this 3-part attack builds up frostbite? I’m aware that slashes post-skill activation will build up frostbite under the 45s buff, but does any portion of the skill “itself” build up frostbite on impact?

                did some extremely rudimentary checks and at 78 dex 20 str, lightning katana with lightning slash does like 5 more points of damage

                  As of 1.07 the new lightning modifier is 160 extra lightning damage, with the buff lasting 45 seconds. Buff still applies the same 80 Frostbite buildup for the duration. Overall this Katana is now definitely competitive with the others in its class... finally!

                    I don't have the sword yet but if this weapon art is anything like the frozen lightning spear incantation it introduces a fun element of gambling into the game. Whenever you use it you wont know if its going to work like its supposed to and do a lot of damage to the enemy or boss in front of you or if its not going to work and will do no damage at all. Elden Ring Russian roulette.

                        Skill has two parts the first one swings the blade forward which enchants the blade and after a delay a lightning bolt crashes in front of you, both do damage.(unsure if lightning bolt also does frost damage) Coats the blade in frost and lightning damage, can apply frostbite. The enchant comes out almost immediately and will still be present on the blade if you get interrupted. Long enough cast time that it needs to be pre-casted or well timed.
