Category Elemental Damage

Holy Damage is one of the Damage Types in Elden Ring. It is one of the eight main Damage Types and belongs to the Elemental Damage category. Damage Types are a major part of the calculation that determines how much damage is dealt in Combat and are affected by many factors including your equipment, skills and temporary buffs.

Elden Ring Holy Damage Guide

Holy Damage is a type of Elemental Damage dealt by both players and enemies alike. Holy Damage is often effective against Undead creatures and "unholy living enemies" and ineffective against Shardbearers and creatures considered Holy.

Most Shields can be upgraded via the Sacred Upgrade Path in order to imbue them with Holy Damage properties. There are also Weapons that can be found which innately deal Holy Damage. See the Upgrades and individual weapon pages for details.

Certain offensive Incantations deal Holy Damage.

Weapon Arts that deal Holy Damage will benefit from Faith if the weapon has Faith scaling.

Elden Ring Holy Damage Notes & Tips

  • As of Patch 1.07, Holy Damage is only buffed in PVP by buffs that boost Holy Damage specifically, such as Holy Shrouding Cracked Tear. For weapons that deal purely Holy Damage, there will be no buff, for example, when the player's health falls below 20% with a Red-Feathered Branchsword equipped, or when the player uses a Jump Attack with a Claw Talisman equipped. If the weapon deals split damage, the Holy Damage will not be affected, but the other damage type(s) will. If the uses a pure Holy Damage weapon with a weapon employing another damage type in a power stance, once again, only the Holy Damage will be unaffected by the buff. This does not seem to be the case for PVE. It's unclear if this disparity is intentional.

I know quite a few bosses and enemies are resistant to Holy but at the same time I just can’t resist the
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Damage types don't get *respected* or *disrespected*. Status isn't disrespected because immune enemies and bossies are everywhere. It would be better to have more lightning options. They are few, but versatile in damage, and harder to build around because of the dex/faith split. Fire damage is generally useful. Folks ignore constant resistance from water, rain, etc and bosses like Draconic Sentinels being tougher v fire and easier for some builds. There is a whole meme around wizards and their alternatives to magic damage. Can't tell if you love holy builds so you are mad that there is a boss fight with resistance that matters. Is there a specific weapon that doesn't work in that fight that you are mad about? Or do you think holy builds are dumb and you think you are spreading useful knowledge?

I'll simply never understand the disrespect the dev gave holy damage. Like why is the fire giant, a giant made of fire, only 50% resistant to fire when the Elden Beast, a beast made of holy, is 80% resistant?

Very anti holy-guy on the sub:
            _____________
I like bleed. YouTuber say bleed, never lose with bleed! Wait, boss immune? Another boss immune, * 20 boss immune. Wait, post Reddit how to change build, my rivers of blood can’t beat the big boss!!!!
But…. I like to be right so…. Holy is bad cause boss immune!
            _______________
Holy player: what? There are immune enemies? Huh, Never seen it. What? That final boss had a lot of resist? Shrug, Didn’t notice, it was stunned from bubbles the whole time. He did what attack? Oh. I never had to see that…

holy weapon run in a nutshell: oh no this boss has high holy res, I'll have to use my fire damage sidearm. oh no this boss has high holy res, I'll have to use my fire damage sidearm. oh no, this boss has high holy res, I'll have to use my fire damage sidearm. oh no, this boss has high holy res, I'll have to use my fire damage sidearm. oh no...

With a name like Land of Shadow, beneath the Shadow of the Erdtree, holy builds surely shall pop any fool caught wandering these lands.

When you realize that this is just as much a form of space magic as glintstone magic is because it is the essence / affinity of a cosmic Outer God.

The fact that Fromsoft decided that not all Holy weapons/buffs prevent skeletons from reviving and that effect being reserved for a very specific subset of Holy is a very odd design choice given how maligned the element already is in the community. Major departure from blessed infused weapons from Dark Souls.

Holy builds get abused throughout the game, so im gonna make a prediction and say that it is going to be pretty useful in the dlc. If my prediction is wrong, i want you to dislike bomb my comment.

So, if I were to stack Golden Vow (Incant)( +10%), Lord's Divine Fortification ( +60%), the Haligdrake Talisman +2 (+20%), and an armor set with decent Holy resistance (I.E. Beast Champion Set w/ 26.5 Holy Damage Negation), how much Holy Damage Resistance in total could I stack up? I'm assuming there's definitely going to be diminishing returns.

Oh, and let's just throw in the Haligtree Crest Greatshield with it's 79% damage reduction against Holy Damage when fully upgraded on a Standard Affinity.

Looks at comments “don’t ever build holy because Radabeast very resistant”. Looks at reddit “how do I change my whole bleed build because Radabeast is immune to bleed”.

So I didn’t abandon my fire build because of Fire Giant. Magma worm was a step along the way….
                            I didn’t shudder in fear when a boss had 40-50 resistance….
Same with holy…. Wow people either lose their minds on this, or they run from the next village to parrot something they think sounds clever? “Holy bad holy bad holy bad!” Lol. “You have to fight a resistant boss! Bad!”
Maliketh and radabeast exist. Faith fire is everywhere if you ever wanna break it out. Same build and a quick swap on physics and talisman…. Like you might change it up for any boss fight

Says comment lost... So quick recap...... Make an Early Game Holy Build. Do it because 1) you can make it without running by the game. It is organic, strong, and uses things you find early in the game. 2) By late game your optimised build will still melt resistant bosses. ........... Holy Scorpion Charm being available soooooo early, along with strong complements is the driver.... Early Melee weapon options: cipher pata, winged scythe, treespear (takes buffs so can add more holy damage). Ornamental straight swards might be mid game, but still liurnia. Early sacred ashes of war also mean you can use lots of weapons. Ashes of war are the early game focus of this build, so get warrior jar shard early. Put golden vow on a dagger you swap to for the amazing buff (or you can main weapon it). Erdtree greatbow is a great tool for ranged fights and again is available early. Sacred blade is great mid-range with warrior shard and holy charm. You can even use the spell order's blade. The int/faith is often a killer this early, but if you want to cast holy golden order spells later on then it isn't a waste. .... With this build you can go in different ways later on, but you will have a very coherent build very quickly and you can actually play the game while quickly assembling it, instead of running by the game.

People say it sucks for PvE, but you can just swap out your Ash of War before entering a place that needs it like catacombs. It makes them much more tolerable at early levels. But maybe that's because I'm doing an RL1 run and need all the deeps I can get.

I was using a str faith build and forgot to change holy affinity vs Maliketh, and he still died quickly with Lance’s giant hunt, all things considered, holy being bad is overblown, off the top of my head, I can only think of 3 fights where the enemy is super resistant: radabeast fortissax and maliketh, Maliketh and Radagon have low hp, and if you’re using holy weapons, it means your levelling faith, so get that lord divine’s aid asap, fortissax is basically a jobber statwise, Elden Beast, yeah kind of a problem, but I just spammed pest threads, which you can do for Forty as well.
If mages use rock sling for Rennala, you’re allowed to kill them with pest threads, don’t let people discourage you into not using holy, the strongest AoW reside in it.

So basically every single story boss is resistant to holy. Great. But hey, it balances out with extra damage to deathbirds that you meet once per 30 hours in the game.

The only way I could see holy damage being good is if it were to cause some kind of status effect on yourself when landing attacks, like buffing your character temporarily or granting you longer spell duration, increasing the potency of heals, enhancing your resistance against other status effects… This variety can be kept if there is a special slot in your inventory that allows you to choose which effect you want to activate. But this is just a concept after more than a year since the game was released, so I really don’t have any hopes for holy damage other than a raw buff to damage.

From sure handled the function/access to elemental damage in this game very oddly:

Holy damage is the worst offender - nearly all Holy damage incants have both Faith and Intelligence requirements but make its damage/infusions exclusively scale with Faith unless using the Golden Order Seal, then incants will scale with both but while the holy buff from Order's Blade requires Intelligence to use it will still only scale with Faith for God knows why. In addition all somber Holy weapons only have Faith scaling and none with Intelligence. Not to mention it's also the worst type as almost no enemies are weak to it and in fact often boast ample resistance.

Lightning damage is decent but while incants and the buff from Electrify Armament exclusively scale with Faith its infusions paradoxically only scale with Dex for some reason, in addition to all somber Lightning weapons having only Dex scaling and none with Faith. Odd choices were made here as well.

Magic damage is the most straightforward of the four with all sorceries/infusions possessing Intelligence scaling with an added bonus infusion option of getting a simultaneous frostbite aux in exchange for slightly reduced Magic damage. Only quirks are with the Ghostflame sorceries, which also require Faith meanwhile its corresponding somber weapons exclusively scale with Intelligence. Least accessible damage type but the most consistent as very few enemies outside Raya Lucaria are significantly resistant to it.

Fire damage is the most quirky but they're all good quirks, with Faith scaling incants and unique in also having magma sorceries that can scale with Faith and its infusions being accessible via either Faith or Strength, with Fire somber weapons having one the other or both in terms of scaling. Bummer there is no pure Fire buff incant though, just an AoW and a weird bleed/fire spell. Still it is the most accessible and effective damage type in ER imo.

bosses weak to holy: Random field bosses. bosses that take no damage from holy: Everything else in the game.

I wish 'Dark' damage still existed in this game. I don't understand why From removed it for Holy, when both could have coexisted. The issue of Destined Death weapons being 'Holy' is that the gods of this game have high resistance to Holy damage, which is weird when those weapons are supposed to slay gods.

They should have kept Dark damage in the game. Make demigods weak to Dark, and make Destined Death weapons & spells deal Dark damage. Make Blackflame and Ghostflame deal Dark damage too, so those effects have a new niche.

Ok, so the "gods" and golden order army beat up dragons and godskins, but somehow Fortisax and godskins are resistant to holy and all the "gods" and golden order champion are weak (or neutral) to fire which is what dragons and godskins use... hmm......

FromSoft REALLY missed the mark with holy damage in this game. Nearly all mandatory bosses are at least moderately resistant, if not nigh-invincible, to holy damage. Effectively invalidating an entire damage type for PvE by saying "oh, but your opponents are demigods, it's supposed to be useless" is just a really poor explanation. And even if you are the kind of person who feels very smart after using intricate lore to excuse terrible design decisions, many non-demigod bosses are just holy-resistant for absolutely no reason at all.

My problem on release and a fresh character now is a viable holy damage weapon for the early catacombs. Both 'order's blade' and 'litany of proper death' needing that much investment in INT was wrong for FTH builds then and it's wrong for FTH builds now. Good luck getting Lhutel without the wolves to shred the boss.

Im convinced that every weapon that does holy damage would genuinely be improved if it just did physical instead

                                                    • Anonymous

I cannot get over how EVERYTHING resists holy. WHY DOES WORMFACE, a death blight enemy, resist holy? Why do the Demigods have 80% holy damage negation? If Holy damage just shredded all minibosses and enemies, I could understand it being weaker against the main bosses, but it is only strong against absolute fodder enemies anyway hahaha.

I'm currently doing a Holy damage only playthrough and I genuinely think I would have an easier time with a Rune Level 1 run. I'll do that next to compare

.On the other hand bosses in the end game have so much Holy resistance you might think that they are the reincarnation of Jesus Christ himself

The only mandatory bosses that don't have large amounts of holy resistance are DTS, Fire Giant, and Gideon.

Just wondering, but say your weapon is infused with an AoW that inbues it with holy but you chose the lightning affinity, I noticed you retain both damage types, but is it actually dealing both damage types? Since visual effects take priority on the last buff, and so many enemies resist holy, I'd like to know, and maybe put this combo on a bleed native weapon that also deals two types of physical damage, for something hybrid.

Hopefully in the dlc this will get much more love and be strong or at the very least not resisted by so many bosses.

                                                                    • Anonymous

You can use them for absolutely Everything except like 1 boss, for example Fire is bad for Rykard, but good Everywhere else. Lightning is bad for Fortissax, but good everywhere else. Magic is bad for Rennala but good Everywhere else. Its a Swiss Knife - it can be used for Everything. Meanwhile, Holy Damage is a Screw Driver. It is only used for one single singular purpose - Skeletons. Beyond that, this tool has no use. A whole ENTIRE damage type, made into a screw driver whilst all the other ones are Swiss Knives that you can use forever, for anything, for anyone. Just ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

Would've been so helpful to differentiate stuff like death flames, and give those who live in death their own type. Would have added more variety, and given massively holy resistant bosses a unique weakness.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

Holy weapons and infusions are bad, but holy spells like rings of light can be buffed by so many things that you can plow straight through the high resistances of end game bosses. This is partially why i think holy damage is """bugged""" in PvP. Its not bugged, its an intentional nerf to holy to prevent it from being wildly overpowered.

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • Anonymous

While I understand most bosses having high resistance to Holy DMG makes sense lorewise, it really hurts the viability and commitment to many faith builds, especially early game (until you get access to good alternate affinities such as Blasphemous Blade or Godslayer's greatsword) .

Many say that "well if you're good at the game it doesnt matter", if youre good at the game you can beat the game nude with a club+0, thats not the point.
I cant help but see this as somewhat flawed design, I cant see the benefit of investing points into faith for such lackluster returns.
Maybe faith exists as an inofficial 'hard' mode, i dont know.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

You know what holy needs? An incantation or ash of war that reduces enemy holy resistance.

With how things stand (that is a long list of enemies with holy resist, like wow) it needs this.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

finished the entire game with holy weapons idk why people say like bosses are impossible if youre using a holy weapon sounds like a big skill issue tbh

                                                                                      • Anonymous

To those who mention holy damage not killing undead instantly try using weapons made to kill Those Who Live In Death, like the Inseparable Sword. It kills undead with and without its skill + deals extra damage while at it.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

What people tend to ignore about holy, is that yes, while a lot of the bosses in the game are resistant to it, the damage of holy weapons and the way the spells scale from your incantation on your casting focus means youll still be doing a lot of damage regardless of the high resistance a boss happens to have.

while yes, youll get higher numbers and more benefit from just slapping on the same dual katana/spear bleed builds that half the player base uses to melt things with little to no effort, dont be discouraged from using holy damage, even on highly resistant enemies (perhaps outside of elden beast, that thing is tanky against practically everything so holy damage on top of that wont do you any favours unless you spam black blade, which melts anything regardless of resistance anyway), because holy damage is a very fun option, and the game throws so many holy damage options at you that you might as well have fun with it and look epic doing so.

except wave of gold....wave of gold is illegal, you can literally close your eyes and tap a single button over and over again without fear of death, actually using that weapon legit just makes you an unskilled laughing stock.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

You should add (if its not already there) that faith doesnt work like in Dark Souls since it wont let you kill skeletons and other undead enemies only once (or without killing their necromancer) for instance. Although maybe this mechanic is only present in Dark Souls 1, I mistakenly upgraded a weapon thinking it mkght help me out with the undead but they take almost the same time to die lol or maybe its the fact im a sorcerer and not a priesy

                                                                                            • Anonymous

As many others have said, I think some holy weapons/incantations (such as black blade) should've had their own damage type that scales off faith. One that comes to mind would've been Death type (as in, Destined Death) - lore consisent, due to Godwyn being the first demigod to die thanks to the rune of Death, and could've been a weakness of a number of bosses, like Morgott, Godfrey, and Radagon, due to their statuses as Golden Order demigods. Easy rebranding of Dark damage, too.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

honestly, gotta say im a holy enjoyer. If you're doing holy damage, you're either int/faith or faith so you already have other options when you run into an enemy with high holy resist. but even then, high holy damage is so easy to get its insane. I think most people neglect the fact that holy damage is always a bigger number than any other affinity, so imo the resistances make sense

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Alright I'm going to start with the negatives and then positives so I will put a big caption on both CATEGORY the NEGATIVE and POSITIVE so YOU the reader know where to start read. Read the parts you think is important for you and comment if you want =)

                                                                                                  NEGATIVE - PART

                                                                                                  RESISTANCES

Bosses have between 40 - 80 % damage resistance against holy damage and most of the 80 % is at the end game where the hardest boss are such as Maliketh having highest resistance at 80% and Malenia 40 % (Her highest damage resistance). The only exception of a hard boss I can think of is Mohg, Lord of Blood, whom seems to have 40 across the bord, except for fire which has 80 % fire resistance.

Most heavy armor in the game also have higher holy elemental damage than the rest of the elementals which means you'll do less damage on players as well and would be better off with another damage type such as magic. The worst part is that the heavier armors are also even stronger against fire damage which is the second element faith users can apply.

                                                                                                  HOLY WEAPON CHOICE VARIETY

So basically if you take aside all unique weapons with specific holy damage modifiers such as Black Knife, Maliketh's Black Blade or Gargoyle Blackblade. You're basically choosing to have a weapon that deals only good damage against undead targets and being able to chip through shields which means you're nerfing yourself in most scenarios of the game. Try to play with a lordsworn holy infused and you know the pain.

EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT ELMENTS - COMPARED TO HOLY

Fire = Enemies can be burned and be stunned, Fire is worse when raining, can be put on any weapon with an ash of war. Can also inflict madness, but no ash of war as of writing this can apply madness to a weapon. Madness also removes player's fp.

Electricity = Buffed when raining and can be aimed at water for an area effect, can be put on any weapon with an ash of war

Magic = Can be pure magic or have a passive frost build up. Once the enemies gets frozen, they will take more damage. Can be put on any weapon with an ash of war

Holy = Unique weapons will do percentage based damage on boss's health and will sap them, but this effect cannot be turned into an ash of war. Specific holy weapons can make undead not reanimate themselves such as Golden Epitaph, this effect can be applied to any weapon with a specific ash of war. Normal infused holy weapons only do more damage to a small variety of enemy types and no other effect than that.

                                                                                                  POSITIVE

Like I said before holy weapons have a lot of unique weapons with cool ash of wars and I'll list some of them and why they are viable. There are always going to be one that is going to beat them, but if you really want to go the holy route at least this might help you single out the one that is for you.

THE BLACK HOLY WEAPONS - Godslaying Weapons

Black Knife can avoid attacks (Not an actual dodge) while jumping into the air with it's ash of war and will have high hyper armor while performing the ash of war. It's ash of war will deal tremendous damage on the first hit and on top of that will take away the max health of your foes as well as sapping away some health over time for a small duration.

Maliketh's Blackblade will shred anything if you can pull off your ash of war since you will unleash destined death itself. Maliketh wasn't feared by every demi-god for no reason. It will sap your foes' health multipile times and at the same time as remove max health for a small duration. This is the strongest in this category.

Gargoyle's Blackblade works like a Black Flame incantation instead of how Black Knife or Maliketh's Blackblade does. It will sap away health from enemies when using the ash of war. So it's weakest ash of war of the 3 weapons, but it has a solid normal damage and can be used as a strength weapon if you want. The only true downside with this weapon is that Blasphemous Blade will beat it in most scenarios right now, but if you don't wanna spend points into dexterity this weapon is still solid.

Solid for NG+ playthroughs since it is percentage based. They wont let you down, you let them down.

UNDEAD HOLY WEAPONS - Deathbird wishes it would have seppuku:d itself

                                                                                                  - Golden Epitaph can buff your whole team so they can slay those who live in death without any problems. Best part is you can equip this and buff yourself and use another weapon and the effect from the buff will last on you and your team which is unique to only this weapon. It also uses a Haligtree Sign for the Miquella fan boys.

                                                                                                  - Inseparable Sword has a different light attack pattern than most greatswords but except for that it's just like any other. It can deal extremely high holy damage and if you combine it with Golden Epitaph's buff you can be a true undead slayer. It can also buff itself with additional holy damage with sacred blade.

                                                                                                  - Golden Order Greatsword has normal attacks in terms of light attacks, but a unique ash of war which can kill enemies which surround you with an explosion and afterwards you can shoot a shard of light at your chosen target. This buffed with Epitaph will probably make the highest holy damage towards an undead in one hit so if you're all about slaying those who live in death this might the the end game weapon for you.

These might let you down on some bosses like some I mentioned in the resistance section, but they are excellent at what they are supposed to do. So if you're all about helping D and Gurranq this might help you in your next adventure :)

                                                                                                  AREA EFFECT WEAPONS

                                                                                                  - Golden Order Greatsword (I've already written about it in Undead Holy Weapons section).

                                                                                                  - Relic Sacred Sword has just what you expected, generic attacks. This will shoot a 180 degree pure holy damage towards your enemy which will knockdown most enemies or kill them. This is so good that a lot of the none main bosses will be knocked down forever as long as you keep using this. It's basically the best clearing tool in the game which means it's also the best rune maker in the game.

                                                                                                  - Marika's Hammer which is the weapon that deals holy damage and strike damage. This allows you to hit through crystallians and it's ash of war is good because it launches yourself towards the enemy with a huge smash, just like Radagon himself and it can even allow you to parkour to other areas since when you launch yourself you will fly into the air. The downside is when using the ash of war you will be stuck for quite a while and as of right now hammers are in a bad place in the game, but if you believe you can use it anyway it's one hell of a weapon.

                                                                                                  - Envoy's Longhorn is just a monster in terms of damage per second, stunning power and it also deals strike damage. It's not really good at killing many strong targets but it can hit multipile and the bigger the target is the more damage this monster will do so if you see a dragon nearby and you have this weapon you should pull this out and you will see the results for yourself! Combine with Pest Threads on bigger targets and you will be giant killer!

So overall these weapons I've mentioned are useful and I like them as they are but there's some specific weapons I wish was at a higher place than they are right now and here are these honorable mentions.

                                                                                                  HONOROABLE MENTIONS/FIX PLEASE:

                                                                                                  - Gargoyle's Black Blades, where do I start? It looks amazing and while it could be good... it's not.In terms of ash of war power and that's what makes holy weapons good it's really bad. It has a generic spin attack that does not do anything special such as inflicting "black flame" on the target like it's counter part Gargoyle's Blackblade. It honestly needs this because right now it's just a reskinned twinblade with faith scaling slapped on it with an ash of war that can't be replaced.
Just give it a blackflame effect like the other Gargoyle weapon has so it shows it actually served Maliketh.

                                                                                                  - Gargoyle's Black Axe I think you know what I'm going to say here. Put an actual unique ash of war on this instead of a generic, none replacable ash of war on this thing. It is a Gargoyle who serve Maliketh so let me at least get an attack they use themselves so we can try to be like them.

                                                                                                  - Envoy's Greathorn only got one complaint on this one. Give it a higher drop chance damn it! Except that excellent. I do recommend it, but probably not as a main weapon but more of a gimmick weapon. But hey, go for if if you want. It can deal VERY High damage against singular targets but Envoy's Longhorn can win in some scenarios so you gotta try it out on your own to see what you prefer. Let the bubbles serve you well.

                                                                                                  - Envoy's Horn one of the cheapest ash of wars in the game, slowest ash of wars but deals high holy damage and can easily be spammed. Also you get to be part of the band! Just don't forget your big medium and big boy envoys in the band! Can easily be farmed so no complaint here. Try it out and you'll see it's fun unless you're fighting certain bosses...

                                                                                                  ENDING

Please lower holy resistance on Maliketh for holy's sake.

So many cool weapons that are just suboptimal to use as a main because so many enemies resist holy damage.... I hope any DLCs will have more bosses weak to it.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

They should make holy do more damage in catacombs or something. Similar to how rain buffs lightning, but in catacombs. Would make holy weapons more interesting. Maybe even throw in a catacomb where everything is immune to holy, just to mess with us. That actually sounds kinda fun

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

They could fix this issue by making holy spells and weapons just do physical damage, maybe make adjustments to compensate for the possibly high damage they would do. Also keep the anti undead thing, but possibly downgrade it.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

Besides holy damage just being kinda ****, isn't it weird that, for being supposedly the face of pure incantations, most of the incants that deal holy damage require Int and Faith? And that there are more spells (counting both sorceries and incants, but just incants still approach it) that deal physical damage than there are ones that deal holy? Kinda ****ed up they made this damage type both dogwater while doing main story, and half of the spells that deal it are unusable for pure faith builds, y'know, the ones centered around holy

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                                    bruh

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Are you guys just using one weapon for the entire game, for every situation?
                                                                                                                        Wtf? That's boring as hell.

                                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Faith builds also has access to a lot of damage types INCLUDING magic via glintstone breath(s). I'm still waiting for a good explanation why lightning affinity is associated with dexterity when every lore example in the game makes it seem like its faith.

Holy, in truth, is two damage types: golden magic designed to slay the undead, and black/dark/death magic designed to slay the gods. But the game treats both types the same, and correspondingly grants every major demigod boss and even many god-related minibosses amazing holy resistance. So you're left with cool death magic like Black Blade that's great against ordinary skeletons but not gods. A flavor and balance fail.
