Icon Shield is a Greatshield in Elden Ring. The Icon Shield is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength. Greatshields weigh a lot but provide the best protection among shields. This type of shield works best at reducing damage and guarding instead of parrying.
Greatshield painted with a divine scene; the recipients of a blessed tear from the Erdtree.
An item that looks back fondly on the age of plenty.
The divine scene acts in and of itself as a sacred invocation; gradually restoring the carrier's HP.

If anyone thinks this shield is ugly, better not play Demon's Souls and find the Adjudicator's Shield

Cool drip (and function) for PvE, but got that tryhard look for PvP. I mean if you spend your invasions running for over half an hour to finish somebody's that are playing the game, you're wasting everyone's time. I never saw NPC invaders (and bosses) running around and hiding. Just get it over geez, win or lose doesn't matter, fun matters.
- Anonymous
This goes HARD with the Crucible Knight sets. If you're wearing the armor but want a shield with no AoW, this is a perfect option. Gilded Greatshield also works pretty well with the Crucible Tree set.
- Anonymous
Do you suffer from the uglyness of your own character? Don't worry! With this shield on your back, your drip does not matter. You will not see yourself anymore, due to how big it is.

Adjudicator's Shield, my beloved since 2009. Shields with illustrations painted on them are peak SOVL.
- Anonymous
I swear they make things look garish or ugly as part of the game balance.

Blessed Dew + Blessed Blue Dew + Icon Shield + Blessings boon + Greatshield talisman + Pearlshield Talisman = Ultimate tanker build for coop
- Anonymous
It's like the culmination of beeing a reallifeless pathetic metalord if you also wear this.
- Anonymous
You dont need to fullfill the Str Requirement for the passive Buff.
Works for Dex Build to, only Stamina (Weigth) is a Factor.
- Anonymous
Yeah, maybe those 11.5 Miyazaki can got into better armour which will give you higher effective HP in the end, but it's not as satisfying as watching your HP slowly crawl up
- Anonymous
Royal Remains Armor + Blessed Dew + Icon Shield + Blessing of The Erdtree = HP Regen go Brrr
Also great for going against poison users!
- Anonymous
Oak and iron, guard me well,
or else I'm dead and doomed to hell.
- Anonymous
If you have enought stamina, dont use It for defense. Just put in your back(holding the weapon 2 handed). You Will not lost the passive effect.
- Anonymous
This and dew talisman allows you to bathe in a lake of poison and still regenerate hp. Add bestial vitality and you can forget about red flask, and now put down a holy ground (shield AoW) there and you get enough ticking healing to regenerate lost limbs on the spot.
- Anonymous
Greatshield, health regen, light weight, upgradeable with somber stones so very easy to do and you don´t waste precious material which you might need for a weapon. All in all a fantastic choice though do use greatshield talisman and don´t forget you can buff this shield too so make use of shield grease or scholars shield and you get very good guard boost.

Would be kinda sick if you could plant this on the ground as an AoW and crouch behind it the way pallisades were used historically by crossbowmen. Probably would be a huge PITA to program it without bugs though

Anyone dedicating 11.5 weight to this deserves the 3hps imo.

If I dual wield these, will I get 2 stacks of regeneration from them?
- Anonymous
Absolutely hideous shield. Looks even more stupid when you carry a great weapon 2 handed with this shield and the weapon clips through the top part.
- Anonymous
By the way, it's a pavise, intended to be worn on the back or used as a cover. I'll just leave a mordhau voiceline here.
Nope, nope, i've changed my mind... HEEEEEEEEELP!!!!

ok so the regen pretty much cancels out the 5% phy dmg u get which makes this the best greatshield for its weight. it's still heavy compared to medium shields but greatshield make some enemy attacks bounce off and have higher guard boost. And the regen from this is always useful.
- Anonymous
I think a lot of folks here have forgotten two things: shield grease and warming/frenzy stones. Both of these work very nicely along with other regen sources.

carried me through Demon Souls and by god It'll carry me through again

the extra boost from greatshield talisman is negligible on this thing, don't bother
- Anonymous
I wish this shield had a bit less strength requirement and some faith needed. It is only a 95% physical negation greatshield after all
I notice that when equpping this shield the regen icon shows up, then when using Bestial Vitality another regen icon shows up, but when equpping Blessed Dew Talisman a third icon does not show up, does this mean that Blessed Dew is cancelled out by one of the other two?
- Anonymous
Not worth a spot if only used for regen. Otherwise, as long as you use shields at all, this is always a serious contender, especially considering the fact that it has no skill so it won't override right hand armament. Put your holy ground on those instead. Or great stars golden land even.

Workshopping some ideas for a Regen focused build around this weapon. Can anyone mentioned other Regen items/spells/ashes w.e that Im missing?
Greatstars
Butcher's Knife
Dew talisman
Takers Cameo Talisman
Royal Remains armor
Fias robe (don't remember the name)
The idea is to focus on Strength and Vigor.

this + blessed dew + crimsonburst crystal tear = 3 minutes of wolverine regeneration powers
- Anonymous
Picture this but with Holy Ground instead of No Skill, now THAT would be kind of crazy.
- Anonymous
This+dew talisman+ regenerating health physick, on a really tanky build, is pretty great.
- Anonymous
Can you imagine slapping Holy ground onto this Beauty? How amazing would it be to have that, maybe one day
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I really wish it was ashable, I hate using shields as backpacks only for their passive buff (except turtle shield, the fashion is just too good)
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Like all the things others here mentioned, this has still seen no nerf. You plebs have no creativity and thats why Miazaki had to give us bleed nonsense. You can make a regen build that rivals Malenias regen (dont need her rune)
- Anonymous
this and dew talisman can clutch pretty hard during drawn out fights
Just like Ice Spear and the +8 halbeard of Edgar... this **** will get nerfed Guaranteed, because it makes the game too much fun. Every single thing that makes this game fun gets nerfed... all of it... there isn't a single ****ing thing fun about this game left... it all got nerfed.
Which is good because i need to go back to work and make money. So, I;m glad this game sucks ass.
This shield will get nerfed in the next 10 days, guaranteed, because it makes the game fun... and this game is not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be sadistic and evil. This game was entirely developed to be evil. And it is evil and us Demons love evil.

It’s very pretty. What’s good fashion for it besides the most obvious tree sentinel armor?
- Anonymous
Love this shield, it is the greatest backpack and can block surprisingly well when needed
- Anonymous
Better looking than the original in Demon Souls, but no modern iteration of that shield will ever surpass the OG in terms of performance.
This Shield, regen talisman, Great Stars + prayerful strike, Minimum requirement stats and lots of health and youre unkillable. For Maximum op pp, add bullgoat Armor and the nanomachines talisman that Grants poise. Rivers of blood? Bonk them with the 2 handed great Stars, get hp back and use prayerful strike at half health. Even viable in pve. Great Stars even builds up bleed and has good poise damage.
- Anonymous
Perfect for a paladin build, paired with the blessed dew talisman and either great stars or butchering knife you'll easily outheal the 5% chip damage and even gain more health from counterattacking.
- Anonymous
They dropped the ball with this healing shield compared to the one in ds3
- Anonymous
This + regen talisman + bestial vitality + the banished chest and head(the ones with the cloth) and some matching legs and hands
Add Great stars with prayerful strike and you got yourself a "in your face" tank build that goes pretty hard in pve actually, and if you pop the tear mimic on bosses,i guarantee that youll feel like a bully, most of the time.

The low guard boost and lack of aow slot make this shield largely impractical. Too bad I like how it looks.

Looks like a pavise, a tower shield commonly employed in the middle ages; it was often used by archers or crossbowmen that would use it as cover on the battlefield.

Does the regen passive effect work even if you don't meet the strength requirment?
- Anonymous
Is it just me, or does the figure on the shield kind of look like Varre? It's probably just a coincidence, but it would be interesting if it actually was.
- Anonymous
You can stack this with Blessed Dew Talisman. And, if you get 12 faith, you can use Bestial Vitality to add even more passive HP regen. Also, don't forget Crimsonburst Tear for your Physick. With all these combined, you can passively regenerate 17HP/s. Pretty decent if you ask me.
- Anonymous
3HP/s is barely anything compared to the 8HP/s of the adjudicator shield
Shame, I hope from adds some sort of regen weapon in the dlc to make up for the lack of passive regen options in the game
- Anonymous
3hp/s? so 180hp a minute? I mean if you really wanted to stretch flasks sure but in a fight sounds barely noticeable. That's like 5 mins for a full heal from 10% at the point in the game where you get this.

Is this a Viable weapon?
Without upgrades twohanded it actually deals more damage than many of the real weapons.
Normal attacks feel awkward, but charged heavy jump attacks feel pretty good.
Horseback light attacks aren't bad either.

For some reason this shield doesn't appear in the location stated in the guide. What gives?
- Anonymous
The 95% damage negation + regen is a lot better than it seems on paper. So much so that I actually was convinced it had 100% phys block. I had to remove all of my armor to get it to show anything (testing on enemies in Crumbling Farum Azula). Max stability is 64 at +9.

This looks very much like a reference to the film Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo Del Toro. Hard to say for certain but the similarities are striking and unusual. In particular, the tree's branches curve down and inwards like those of the tree in the film.

insane passive healing

For anyone who has to constantly hop off the game for a few minutes it's a fantastic shield, every time I return to play my character is at full health ;3
- Anonymous
For particularly tough areas: after fights where you lose a chunk of health, put this and blessed dew on, go grab a drink, and come back to full health. I saved a bunch of flasks in Farum Azula doing this.

Oh neat, it's the Adjudicator's Shield from Demon's Souls, but with the Erdtree painted on! https://demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Adjudicator's+Shield

This + bestial vitality + regen talisman = 12~15 hp regen per second

Icon Shield 3hp/s, Plus the Crimsonburst Tear for physick 7hp/s, with the Blessed Dew Talisman 2hp/s, and buffed by Blessing of the erdtree 12hp/s. For a grand total of 24hp/s. Not bad. Makes up for the 95 physical guard in my opinion. Fun for messing around with weak enemies and watching your health recover after each hit. The erdtree blessing page here says health buffs don’t stack except for the talisman and I haven’t tested if I’m actually getting 24hp/s or not.
- Anonymous
This is an all-around nice shield for any GS user. You won’t feel the 5% missing physical guard with the regen it gives you, and it helps a lot in preserving flasks while exploring before any boss fights - where you can switch to a damage-specific shield, or keep using it if you’re a regen build enjoyer stacking it with the talisman and physick.
- Anonymous
I mean, yes, I can wear this on my back for HP regen, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a scenario where 3hp/second is worth 11.5 weight. I guess if you dumped a lot of points into Endurance for Stamina on a powerstance setup with light weapons, it could be useful? Still seems really, really niche, though.
- Anonymous
This shield (like some others) has one kinda non-written additional special use. Using this greatshield allows you to use your main weapon's skill or Ash of War's skill without 2-handling it by using the shield's strong attack button/key. While using that skill with the shield deployed, you'll still be healed as the Greatshield is still equipped even if the attack appears to be 2-handed.
- Anonymous
Why is this only 95 physical block? The HP regen is completely useless if 5% damage is constantly piercing through...
"bUt tHaT's tHe tRaDeOfF dUrr" then why not just use a normal greatshield then? objectively useless
- Anonymous
Does anyone know if upgrading the shield increases the passive regeneration affect?

I'm a dual-wield hookclaw dps build, but this shield is useful for passive healing because the regen is active as long as it's in your left /slot/, not your left hand. you can just stick it on your back and it functions like s free blessed dew talisman if you can spare the weight while dual wielding.
in my opinion, the only downside is that it's so big i can't see my elden bling >:I

Physical damage reduction has been buffed with the 1.03 patch, now is 95%
- Anonymous
For the record -- yes, the HP regen will stack with items such as Blessed Dew Talisman. A good combo for aimlessly shambling around the world and letting the regen top you up while you're handling other business. You could probably make a full-on regen build as well, but personally, I'd still prefer to use a 100 absorb shield with no regen over this heavy alternative with 89 absorb.

Does anyone know if the regen effect stack with the Blessed Dew Talisman?
