Inseparable Sword is a Greatsword in Elden Ring. The Inseparable Sword scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Faith and is a good Weapon for Faith Builds.
Sword forged by compounding silver and gold.
A sacred weapon to hunt Those Who Live in Death.
Deals holy damage.
The inseparable twins found solace in the Golden Order, the only institution not to revile them as accursed beings.
Where to Find Inseparable Sword in Elden Ring
The Inseparable Sword weapon can be found at the following location:
- Prince of Death's Throne, after giving D's brother D's Twinned Armour. You must have killed Lichdragon Fortissax in Fia's Dream and received the Mending Rune of Death. [Map Link]
- can be acquired slightly earlier if you kill D when he appears in Limgrave, close to the Summonwater Village Outskirts. Doing this allows you to give his armor to his brother in Siofra Aqueduct and after reloading the area, the brother will be hostile to you. Kill him to get the Inseparable Sword and Twinned Armor back. This does not break Fias questline.

Despite what the scalings would imply, this weapon can actually find a niche on Str/Fai and Dex/Fai as opposed to pure faith.
On my 54 Str/18 Dex/50 Faith character, the AR on this sword is a solid 30 or so higher than a sacred BKGS, and they both have the same amount of holy damage. Using an AR calculator a dex/faith focused split yields similar results.
In PvP, this weapon has a true combo that if buffed with the sword of light, sacred blade (getting off both is fairly easy in a dual) and the two handed talisman, can take upwards of 70% Health from a 60 Vigor opponent. Since this set up is all about combo damage the inseparable sword is actually the better choice here than the banished knights. Also the speed buff to the sweeping R2 is great for this weapon when paired with empty jumps.
Its a shame that such a cool looking weapon got stuck with such an uninspiring AOW, at least this is one of few uninfusuble weapons with no unique skill that justifies its existence on a build.

didn't need to do Fia's whole quest to get it
gave D's bro the armour, beat the gargs, rode the coffin up, get to Fia, beat her simps and then stabbed her. rest at the nearby grace and the sword and the armour is next to where Fia was

This thing's pretty decent. Wish it got A scaling in Faith or maybe just a bit more damage on the AoW... well, you take what you can get. Nice moveset at least!
- Anonymous
He just took my armor and vanished, his sign did not appear, help??
- Anonymous
The way bullet ashes scale, the arc this shoots should have a scaling multiplier that is >2.5 times better than an infused ash. Un-upgraded base faith scaling on this is .65, while infused single stat ashes use .25
- Anonymous
The weapon skill deal less damage to regular enemies compared to the AoW version(with the same upgrade level, Sacred Infusion and Faith stat invesetment) but deal more damage to undead enemies because the 20% innate boost against undead work on weapon skill as well.
I was testing Inseparable Sword against Freyja's Greatsword in Limgrave and found that the beam from Sacred Blade on this thing hits for a bit less than the Sacred Blade AoW applied to other weapons. At 60 Faith and without any boosting talismans, the difference was about 30 less damage compared to Iron Greatsword, Freyja's Greatsword, Noble's Slender Sword (894 vs. 924). Bizarre.
Haven't tested hitting with the blade and beam simultaneously. Maybe that makes up for it—not sure.
- Anonymous
If they made the weapon skill chargeable that would set it apart from the sacred blade ash of war, it would get a damage boost from godfrey icon and it would make it more flexible when attacking with the skill.
- Anonymous
This is another weapon that has innate skeleton respawn prevention but I can't find this info written anywhere.

Beautiful weapon aesthetically and lorewise. I'd love to use it in my str/fai, but man ...why TF that 18 f*ckin dex? This is bs

My fav weapon to use with a shield, just Banished Knight sword looks would be better this is too Sparta. (I guess you can make one using the Sacred Blade AoW but even at 25+ it's probably gonna be quite weaker.)

Please note that the part of this page which states the sword can be acquired if you kill D in Limgrave is FALSE. He drops his armor and bell but not the sword
- Anonymous
At 80 faith and base stats the iron greatsword with the holy infusion does more damage and requires less stats.
- Anonymous
799 AR at base str/dex and 80 FTH.
1031 AR if you add golden vow and holy physik.
1155 if you use your ash of war.
Best greatsword in the game, it does holy damage but it legitimately has such a high attack rating that it doesn't matter, beautiful design, simple but effective ash of war and the superior greatsword move set, what more can you ask?? If Holy is such a turn off just keep a flame art back up weapon or use one of the many non holy damage incantations you can use
- Anonymous
Too bad holy damage is ass against the later bosses, otherwise would be a good GS
- Anonymous
I tested sacred blade aow
from this weapon and iron gs. The latter was stronger, but the first one naturally deals 20% against undead.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I like it, but seriously, how many somber weapons can come with sacred blade?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you have below 72 faith just use a banished knight's gs with sacred blade. It will perform better, it has the same moveset and can be obtained way earlier. The only thing you lose is the passive vs undead and style points.
- Anonymous
Funny that it has two Ds in its scaling, when it has been wielded by 2 Ds
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I wish this had an ash of war simialr to the DS3 Greatsword of Judgement. Just to make it unique atleast.
- Anonymous
If you two-handed this weapon while equipping the Twinned Armor (D's armor), your character change stance or how you hold the weapon. You hold it up higher than usual. It doesn't change the moveset tho.
- Anonymous
IMO this is one of the few Somber weapons with a generic AoW where it actually works well. It feels great to use, the Holy damage buff suits this weapon really well (in terms of usefulness and appearance) and it fits in with the whole Undead Remover theme. I like it. It's my favorite Faith weapon in the game by far.
- Anonymous
There may be better weapons, but I love having a sword that can kill skeletons and **** the first time. Very useful in many situations.
A Sacred Blade Gargoyle's Greatsword largely performs better than this at 80 fth/40 dex? I'm not sure where I'm going wrong with that but oh well

This sword has better faith scaling then one used and made by a god

The fastest way to get this weapon and armor set:
1. Kill D at Limgrave.
2. Kill Radahn.
3. Travel to Siofra Aquaduct
4. Give the armor set to twin
5. Reload area
6. Kill D

pop on the holy cracked tear, shard of alexander, holy scorpion, and last rites and youre either 1 or 2 shotting all death/death rite birds in the game
- Anonymous
This is what I like to call a utility greatsword, along with sacred relic sword, blasphemous blade and sword of milos. Sure you can main this weapon, but why, just use it to trivialize undead encounters like god intended.
- Anonymous
This thing absolutely destroys Death Birds and Death Rite Birds. Combine with Shard of Alexander and you can easily kill the early game birds in 2 head hits and the later ones in 3-4. Don't know the math when further combined with sacred scorpion charm or holy cracked tear but it's probably ridiculous. Auto-take to trivialize any area with skeletons.

So disappointed they gave it a generic Ash of War. Such a beautifully designed weapon deserved better.
The stat requirements are a bit 'ugh'. It's basically a pure faith weapon. The 18 str/dex make it a bit undesireable. You are halfway through making a quality build, while the sword barely benefits from these stats. Another weapon for the 'if you really want very weird looking stat allocation for your build' category. I don't like this.
- Anonymous
This is the best faith greatsword. You can get it and upgrade it to +9 before even entering the altus plateu. You will obliterate every enemy with it, even those resistant to holy damage. This is my first faith walkthrough in the game and i must admit that this sword was the main reason i made my first faith build. Looks amazing and hits like a train.

I'd be mad that the ash isn't unique but sacred blade is one of my favorites so its a win win

Funny that the Golden Order did not treated them as accursed, when all demigod twins where accursed beings
- Anonymous

so with the AoW buff, i managed to kill the Deathbird in Capital Outskirts in 4 hits, on NG+ (btw, weapon was still just +9 at this point, and i didn't use any buffs other than Sacred Blade). It's kinda nuts for undead enemies
- Anonymous
you lack info , if you kill d then gave items to his brother and load the area he will attack you , kill him and you get the blade
- Anonymous
People like giving hard time for Golden Order, but apparently they were still the only institution that accepted D twins.
- Anonymous
You do not need to kill Lichdragon Fortissax in order to get it. In fact, I killed Fia in front of Godwyn, gave D's brother the armor set, went back to Godwyn and the sword (& armor) were just lying there to loot.
- Anonymous
For some reason, the sword will rest on your waist like a small weapon instead of on your back if you 2-hand another weapon.
As far as I know, it's the only greatsword that does this.

Def has become my go-to “I’m about to walk through a cemetery” weapon.

Power stance on your holy spec(I swap mine around between fire/holy/lightning) when casting isn't getting through to the heathens. Buff them both, big holy.. "Though are not holier than I!!"

Yeah people that extensively use this sword should really give a hard look at holy infused omen cleaver with sacred blade aow. (I'm not sure but it's seems to deal almost same amount of damage while also having strong attack chop have insane attack multiplier...) though still best optio to kill skeletons and undead...

18 18 60 +10 (with holy scorpion talisman and sacred blade) = over 950dmg!!!
- Anonymous
This sword is sheathed on the hip like a straight sword despite being a greatsword.
- Anonymous
This thing melts death birds. Even the mf in snowfields goes down quickly from the weapon skill.
- Anonymous
Can you get the same AR, and 2h moveset with another greatsword like the banished knight greatsword, YES, yes you can.
But the dripppp…
Did some testing and was able to get a higher AR with +25 banished knights greatsword buffed out and flasked than a +10 inseparable and added sword dance ash onto it is making it difficult to go back to the inseparable sword
- Anonymous
Slap Sacred Blade on Knight's Greatsword and you have a poor man's version of Inseparable Sword
- Anonymous
its kinda boring as a somber weapon, but damn does it look good

There is some bad and incomplete information in the comments about when and how to get the sword, this is how I got it today. Giving D-twin the armour then exhausting FIa's dialogue until she went to sleep after killing the gargoyles made no difference, D-twin wasn't there and the sword wasn't anywhere near the prince of death's throne grace checkpoint to loot, I thought I had missed some stupid step I needed to follow and wouldn't get the sword. After fast travelling and reloading the only option I was getting was to touch Fia and enter the dream to fight Fortissax. I'd given up on the sword but fancied the boss fight for its remembrance. After I killed Fortissax D-twin was standing over Fia when I phased out of the dream, he was talking some insane s**t before I got the 'talk' prompt but he didn't give me the sword, it was pretty obvious I was going to have to kill him for it but it wasn't a hard decision because I didn't like what he was saying over Fia so I hit him with a charged R2 and he was done for with the sword available right away as loot from his body.
The problem with this is I don't know if it will be the same for everyone. Fia's is a complicated NPC quest and when you read the steps to follow there are chunks of it that can be skipped without getting locked out of it until NG+ and I don't know if D-twin has to be killed to get the sword or if it was the only way for me to get it based on my choices when I was following Fia's, his and his brother's steps through the quest but I at least hope it makes things clearer for anyone not getting the sword any other way.
- Anonymous
Seeing so many comments asking why this or that quest isn't working the way it should on the wiki pages for the NPCs that give a quest shows the From Software model of having to follow obscure step after obscure step, while wearing the right hat and doing the right gesture and trust to luck you don't do something that locks you out of it for your playthrough, isn't fit for purpose.
Just like a comment made on 11th August I also gave D-twin the armour and summoned him for the gargoyle duo. After killing the valiant gargoyles I fast travelled to deeproot depths and I beat Fia's champions but there was no sword there for me either. One of the replies says to exhaust her dialogue until she is asleep and the inseparable sword and her set will be there. Except it isn't, I gave her the curse mark and exhausted her dialogue options, after fast travelling around she is asleep but there is no sword or her deathbed set there to be looted I get the option to enter her dream but that's to fight the Lichdragon Fortissax.
So have I broken the quest somewhere by not wearing the right trousers when I got hugged by Fia and missed out on the sword this playthrough?

This thing absolutely slaps in PvP! When buffed with sacred blade your damage output is higher than even that of the Iron Greatsword and most greataxes despite the split scaling, it possesses the unique 2-handed greatsword moveset which allows you to perform many true-combos on good latency resulting in 1000+ damage a pop and you've also got a fairly quick ranged attack to punish cerulean chug/casting. This is all without holy physick as well, if you drink that you'll be hitting for colossal weapon damage. This weapon is honestly slept on.

I gave D's brother the armor set. I went there. Defeated Mia's champions. Got hugged... Where is my holy sword? It's just Fia there.
- Anonymous
Simply exit and reload game to acquire all these prizes. You don’t have to run back to the site of grace each time.
- Anonymous
Pretty good backup weapon for slaying undead and those ever troublesome Deathbirds, not to mention its got the same unique light attacks that the knight's greatsword and banished knight's greatsword have, not to mention its just really cool looking and very good for Elden Bling.
- Anonymous
This has probably been the best holy sword I've used. I created a new Faith character and used this most of the time since getting strong enough to defeat the dragon to acquire it. I have to say I'm scratching my head why it would be worth bothering with the Golden Order Greatsword given it seems the Inseparable Sword continues to do more damage as they scale up. The only mild weakness I've find with the Inseparable Sword is that it has a common weapon art, which I'd note isn't even a bad one, just not a sexy and unique one. The fact that Sacred Blade also buffs your weapon damage briefly on top of already having a very high AR is very useful. I underestimated how handy not needing to double tap undead enemies can be. When you have about 5 strong undead enemies in Farum Azula trying to maul you, it becomes much easier to appreciate that benefit of them not coming back to life without the additional final hit.
- Anonymous
I'd rather put sacred blade my beloved on a knight's greatsword. earlier obtainable, lower stat requirements and longer reach.
- Anonymous
BTW you dont even have to fight D, just walk to the other end of the lake and he'll leave his armor and sword
- Anonymous
This sword has good AR on both pure Fth (80) and semi-Fth builds like Dex Fth or Str Fth (55-50). It also weights only 9.0 (same as Claymore) so you can minmax with some builds. Oh, and you probably wants to keep this around while hunting Deathbirds, Sacred Blade shreds them hard.

For str faith just put sacred on the iron sword for similar AR value to this at 60 str and 30 faith. 751 for iron greatsword and 735 for this. At 30 str and 60 faith iron greatsword has 786 and this has 778. This does have 30% bonus damage against the undead but you can just put sacred order as ash of war on iron greatsword for 100% increase. This will still be able to prevent skeletons from reviving tho, but if that was your goal golden epitaph is a much more efficient weapon. But for big enemies like death birds, greatswords with sacred order are better.

Ahh, yes. Now I can roleplay as Fierce Deity Link; beam and all!

I love how you can actually hear him smile when he says "the rotten witch is dead". f you fia. honeyed rays of gold, deliver my spirit.

Interesting Fashion Souls interaction, not only does this sword have the smoothest R1 moveset for greatswords, but when placed in the offhand its tip is held at a slightly lower angle than other greatswords, and while other greatswords are sheathed on the back when two-handing, this sword is sheathed at the hip. Very interesting weapon that’s relatively rare to see.
- Anonymous
Melts those deathbirds like butter. At 50 faith the weapon art chunks them for 3.6k.

Crazy how the wielder of this sword named himself after his signature weapon's physical scaling

Have to go through so much trouble to get that bloody sword.

it’s a shame they couldn’t put some form of trick weapons into elden ring. inseparable sword kinda reminds me of the blade of mercy. it’d be really cool if it could break off into two straight swords
- Anonymous
when you stow this sword it goes on your belt buckle, instead of on your back, like all other greatswords. very neat!
- Anonymous
If you’re like me and are the type that keeps all your stuff in your chest instead of on your character, make sure you do NOT store the twinned set. It’s confusing because D’s brother will still give you the emote even if you don’t give him the set making you think you did. Then later on when you finish Fia’s quest D’s brother will not show up after resting and you’ll be locked from getting this weapon unless you find another player to trade one to you. Not a huge hassle but still, kinda annoying that you aren’t reminded at all to grab the armor before talking to him.
- Anonymous
Can I get this weapon but still have the Twinned Set in the same playthrough or do I have to part with Twinned set for it
- Anonymous
Can anyone fill me in on this:
"The inseparable twins found solace in the Golden Order,
the only institution not to revile them as accursed beings."
What exactly were the twins to be seen as cursed by everyone else?
- Anonymous
Oddly enough if you use this in your left hand it doesn’t kill skeletons on the first blow. You still have to double tap them.
- Anonymous
not sure as to why but when held in the left hand this sword is held at a lower angle, like a straight sword or dagger in the left hand. I haven't found another greatsword that does the same
- Anonymous
Appears that D's brother won't go to Fia and kill her if you give her the death rune you get from Ranni's questline, which locks you out of getting this weapon. I gave him the the twinned set and even summoned him for the gargoyles boss fight for that exact reason. He robbed me and ran, the bastard... I get that I did the those areas out of order slightly if I met Fia first, but tbh its very easy to miss D's brother and that area if you grab the finger slayer blade and leave through the portal, like the game expects you to do. Its a bummer cuz this looks like a great sword (no pun intended) to power stance with the blasphemous blade.
- Anonymous
The 1.04 patch that buffed Sacred Blade's speed has massively benefited this sword. It's already been very good before, now it's even better. Highly recommend!
this + golden epitaph + an erdtree seal with barrier of gold (since most undead enemies deal magic damage), order healing, golden vow, and an aoe healing spell = ultimate undead destroyer build
add sacred scorpion, spelldrake talisman, and shard of alexander (or the warrior jar shard if you're impatient and wanna try this build earlier) for maximum effect
also feel free to use other holy incants too, having a shield with carian retaliation is also helpful for undead sorcerers
