Kindred of Rot is a Field Boss in Elden Ring. These insect-like creatures wield a spear in their many arms and are found in Seethewater Cave. This is an optional boss, as players don't need to defeat it in order to advance in Elden Ring.

Lesser Kindred of Rot is the normal enemy form of this boss. The spirit of a Kindred of Rot can be summoned for aid in battle using Kindred of Rot Ashes.

Kindred of Rot Combat information

Negations (or Absorptions)

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Resistances

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

Elden Ring Kindred of Rot Boss Guide

Kindred of Rot Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Kindred of Rot:

Melee Users

Keep your positioning to the side of them and focus on one at a time while rolling through any pest thread attacks. If you want a quick fight, use spirit summons to clear one while you clear the other. If you have a shield, you can guard counter them and it will stun them giving you more opportunities to deliver hits. Be patient and wait for an opening before coming down at them with by spamming your melee attacks, giving you an opportunity to interrupt their following attacks until they are cleared. Anticipate their next action and roll back if it follows through. Repeat the pattern of waiting for an opening until they are cleared.

Magic and Ranged Users

Either Holy Damage or Faith Builds work when going against them. They tend to take long pauses before each action. Mages have the option to use Swift Glintstone Shard, which may interrupt their next action. If significant damage was taken, roll back and create a larger separation before healing. If this is difficult, and you are willing, use spirit summons to help you since there are two of them and may be hard to separate. Keeping your distance will give you more openings and will eventually lead to their defeat.

Just wondering if anyone else read the boss link to here says kindfred of rot, yes with an F and not a typo it makes it sounds like someone’s name.

Melina: "However ruined this world has become, however mired in torment and despair, life endures. Births continue. There is beauty in that, is there not?"

        *these things exist*

....yeah no Melina, there is no beauty in this dung heap of a world at all. Burn the lot lol.

Kindret of rot: Oh my rot is that malenia!?

PLEASE let me have your autograph!

YOU are the reason i crawl out of my coffin every morning.

Cipher pata +9 at 50 faith absolutely shredded these guys, one Unblockable Strike (art of war) staggered them and the riposte killed them

I’m so glad that Kinfred is trying to correct the name on this wiki. Whoever made the typo to kindred is not very respectful to Kinfred.

The stone of gurranq incantation can completely shut down the halberd wielding red eye banished knight at castle sol and prevents him from using storm assault against you.
These prawns won't poise through it if a banished knight can't. I haven't used it but I'd have thought rock sling will work just as well, and it is many times easier to get than the SOG.

It's always weird how they make some enemies bosses when we've already seen them. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

                  • Anonymous

why would they turn these into bosses in mt gelmir when we've probably already got ganked by few of them before back in caelid

                    • Anonymous

Such a bizarre boss. I really struggled to even hit them before the pelted me with their missiley things, but when I finally got it off, Night Comet almost two-shot them.

                      • Anonymous

For any twinks/SL1 runners, I recommend using Morning star with holy affinity, seems to stagger them in 1 heavy attack or 2 jump attacks + bleed. Jump attack > Jump attack > Riposte > Heavy > Riposte > Heavy > Riposte. Level 1 wolves can distract the other one, while you make very short work of his friend.

                          How to kill easily:

                          1. equip your highest magic resist gear, including shield.

                          2. Summon Lone Wolves.

                          3. Go after the one the wolves don't.

When I was fighting them, I used the kindred of rot ashes for laughs, but I noticed that whenever the ashes version cast the pest threads, it would combine into the enemies projectiles. Did anyone else experience this?

                            • Anonymous

If you have ANY difficulties with this boss, summon your good ol' doggies... erm! I mean wolves and focus on the one which has fewer (or none) wolves onto it. Wolves will destroy those 2 in barely a moment.

                              • Anonymous

Can be cheesed with rock sling. Cast from outside the fog door standing in the middle looking straight ahead. I killed one before entering the boss door. I suspect it is possible to kill them both outside the door, but honestly getting one out of the way before entering the fog completely trivializes an already easy boss fight.

I found the boss version after slaughtering a ton of them as mobs in Caelid.
They barely lasted long enough for the boss health bar to appear, lol I was wondering why only the boss' adds spawned until then.

                                  • Anonymous

After Limgrave I explored Caelid and got so much stronger as a melee build. I first found them from the dragon burnt ruins trap. They patrol Caelid. You’ll see these guys everywhere and I laughed seeing them as my boss in Seethewater. Even at 100 these guys are annoying but they are very squishy. I use it as my summon and it’s probably my favorite enemy because of how ugly it looks.

                                    • Anonymous

Summoning as soon as you step through the mist can be risky as their needle attack can just one shot you while the summon animation goes off. They aren't that much harder as bosses than they are as enemies though, so if like me you spent two hours stuck in Sellia Crystal Tunnels early game you already know how to deal with these shits, and they go down like paper by this point in the game if you've been decent about upgrading weapons.

But seriously tho **** these prawn mother****ers

                                      • Anonymous

Use a summon with mutliple attackers (Lone Wolf, Marionette) then just focus the same one your summon is attacking. It will be perma stunned and brought down fast.

I hate these ****ers, they run away after every ****ing hit I get in (before summons) and I am using a Rapier! Ended up using a halberd and just wailing on them with my wolves.

                                        • Anonymous

Stealth, stance breaking, well timed rolls. Try to open with a power attack or jump strong attack, as they are not vulnerable to backstab. Also, note that the missile attack of these enemies has decent course correction, and can potentially hit you from around a doorway. They are relatively fragile to compensate for their reach and zoning potential, and will likely go down in three hits or less if you're appropriately geared.

Complete bull. Even with +6 demi humans i barely pulled through this fight. The one on the left always uses its spell right away and instant kills you if you don’t dodge. They are pretty weak so i super offensive build might fare with. Not even worth it for the 10,000 souls

                                            • Anonymous

I beat em as a level 40 and probably didn't take a hit. Spirit summons distracted them, and my lvl 3 Faith Axe (the golden one) just melted through both in like 5 hits each.

                                              • Fanged Imp Summon (+3 at the time) helped me a ton for this fight. They basically soloed one of the prawns on their own while I was able to focus my attention on the 2nd. Its the initial attack that's REALLY stupid (as soon as I came through the fog door they both used their BS homing multi-bolt attack). Opaline Bubbletear (Wonderous Flask of Physick) before going through the fog gate helped me survive that long enough to summon the imps.

                                                • Anonymous

Two of these in one small room are too much!
                                                  They are just so aggresive.

I found it a lot easier, actually killed them in 1 attempt after, summoning the ‘Marionette Soldier’.
Though I would imagine any summon with multiple friendlies would work well..
(Single spirits are slain way to fast and offer only little distraction)

                                                  Hope this helps!
