Latenna is an NPC in Elden Ring. Latenna can be found after finishing the Lakeside Crystal Cave dungeon located under the southern ridge of Liurnia. She willingly becomes a Spirit to join the player, becominh Latenna the Albinauric.

Let's try again. I'm Latenna. An Albinauric, the same as Old Albus.

Latenna Location in Elden Ring

Latenna can be found sitting in front of the Slumbering Wolf's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes. This area is only accessible after completing the Lakeside Crystal Cave dungeon. See it on the Elden Ring Map.

  • This NPC does not move
  • This NPC can be killed
  • If defeated, it's reported the Latenna does not drop their Spirit Ashes.

Latenna Questline: How to complete Latenna's Quest

Latenna's questline revolves around a separate NPC, Albus, that can be found in the Village of the Albinaurics.

Speaking to Albus will give players the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) and he will ask that should the player encounter Latenna that they give her the Medallion, speaking to Latenna with the medallion in hand she will see that Albus trusts the player and therefore she has no reason to doubt them, she will then ask if the player is willing to take her to the land of Miquella’s Haligtree.

Important Note: If players do not approach her before advancing too far, she will die and only her Spirit Ashes can be found. This makes it impossible to begin and complete her quest. A handful of players confirmed that she was dead after obtaining both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. To prevent this, just make sure to grab her Ashes before progressing past the Grand Lift of Rold, to prevent disruption.

Promising Latenna to take her to the Haligtree, she will join the player and willingly become a Spirit summon, Latenna the Albinauric. She will also hint at the location of the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left).

Upon reaching the Apostate Derelict (map link) located in the Consecrated Snowfield players can interact with the giant Albinauric woman to summon Latenna. Doing so, Latenna will reward the player with a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

Dialogue in Elden Ring: Latenna

Introduction

  • Foul tarnished, what do you want?
I told the all-hearing brute. That I possess no such medallion.
Or have you come to take more from me? Was my other half not enough?

After showing her the secret medallion

  • Oh...do you speak true?
So old Albus entrusted his medallion to you.... Then I've no choice. But to trust that this was his dying will.
Let's try again. I'm Latenna. An Albinauric, the same as Old Albus. My apologies for my coarse words earlier. I presumed the worst, seeing that you were another Tarnished, like that all-hearing brute. I hope that you will forgive me.
  • Mm, the medallion is better off in your hands, anyway.
Would you consider doing me a great service? I must go back. There is something that I must do, even if I must say farewell to my wolf, Lobo.
Will you show me the way? To the land of Miquella's Haligtree.
If you accept, I would gladly apprise you. Of the whereabouts of the medallion's other half.
  • (Hear her request) Thank you kindly. They say the other half of the medallion is beyond the forbidden lands north of the Erdtree. In Castle Sol, on the Mountaintops of the Giants, accessible by the Grand Lift of Rold.
  • Then I suppose it's time. Farewell, Lobo. My faithful wolf, my better half. I will go with the Tarnished. So that our journey will not have been in vain. Forgive me, Lobo.
    [You receive Latenna the Albinauric]
Call upon me when needed. And I will fight at your side.

Approaching Castle Sol

  • Do you hear me? It is I, Latenna. We're almost there. Castle Sol lies just off to the north, where the other medallion is housed. It will grant passage to the land of the Haligtree.

Arriving at Consecrated Snowfield

  • Do you hear me? It is I, Latenna. We have reached the land of Miquella's Haligtree, where Lobo and I began our travels. It's entirely thanks to you that I'm so close to home.
These great snow-laden lands stretch far to the north. And beyond the ancient bowers, and the liturgical town of Ordina, lies the place to which I must return.

At Apostate Derelict

  • Oh young yet towering sister of ours. Let the birthing droplet in. And create life. For us. For all the Albinaurics.
  • Thank you. I've finally fulfilled my purpose.
Our young yet towering sister will give us hope. Now that nothing is left unfinished, I will join you in battle to the bitter end. And when the fighting is done, then you may lay me to rest. Beside Lobo, my dear wolf.

When attacked

  • (Combat) Are all you Tarnished the same? Was taking my other half not enough for you?
  • (On player kill) There is no meaning in a fight, lest it serve a greater duty.

Upon defeat

  • Ohh... Phillia. Take...the birthing...droplet...

Elden Ring Latenna Notes & Trivia

  • Latenna makes mention that Lobo, the wolf beside her, was taken from her by the “all-hearing brute,” likely talking about Gideon Ofnir. Ensha, who is Gideon’s servant, later invades after obtaining the medallion’s half in the Roundtable.
  • Her spirit summon makes mention that 'having lost her beloved wolf companion, she cannot move from the place where she was summoned'. This explains that she rode the wolf around, and why she cannot move from her location.
  • The name of her wolf companion was "Lobo", which means "wolf" in Spanish.
  • If Latenna is summoned near Direwolves, she will tame and ride one, making her significantly mobile, firing arrows along with breathing frost breath.

Does anyone know what arrows the latenna spirit summons uses? I've died a shed load of times to ekzykes from when I first read a comment about its rot breath incantation. Its been a while since I've bothered trying, but I've been experimenting with status effect arrows. I had bleed and poison arrows and barrage on a +14 short-bow. Those arrows seem to be useless against ekzykes, but I had put latenna +2 as high as I could overlooking the dragon. I saw some interesting results as well, wolves and lhutel both at +6 die to the dragon in a minute or two once it has focused on them. latenna lasted much longer and she was doing more damage to it than I was with arrows sting talisman. Anyone here use latenna regularly know why she was doing so much damage with only 2 ghost-glovewart upgrades?

When I approached the Alburnaic giant lady at the Apostate Derelict, there was no visible summon sign for Latena.

I had to moved around a bit, to the right (when facing woman) and a few steps away the summon message popped up.

        Hope that's helps.

          "This NPC does not move"
Yeah just like all of the notable NPCs in From Software games lol. Their atrocious quest design is basically the player interacting with what's essential a statue.

          • Anonymous

It would be cool if you could actually lay her to rest at the end of the game, as her dialogue says. If you can, that didn't trigger for me

            • Anonymous

If you grab the left medallion at castle sol she will die, i didnt know about the albus pot thing so gg, next playthrough tho.

              • Anonymous

Someone mentioned you have to summon her at the gargoyle before the Grand Lift of Rold. This seems to be true, because passing through Mountaintops of the Giants she spoke to one of my characters but not the other, who used a different summon for that fight.

                • Anonymous

Her dialogue for the Mountaintops or the Snowfield never triggered for me, don’t really know why. Could summon her at Apostate Derelict, but I feel like I missed out on some lore.

                  • Huh, I never knew she had dialogue when approaching Sol or the Snowfield, I've never heard it across three playthroughs. I wonder if you have to do something else to trigger it or if the spot to stand is just really particular.

                    • Anonymous

I had to manually summon her through her ashes at Apostate Derelict to complete her quest - I talked to her at the grace, then walked up to the big woman.

                      • Anonymous

How do you talk to her in the snowfields without completing Castle Sol and getting the medallion? This quest line broke for me for some reason although I did it "correctly" is there a specific order?

                        • Anonymous

Great, didn't find her in time and can't do the questline now, that's one less Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for me to get in the playthrough I guess. RIP -__-

                          • Anonymous

Can confirm she is still at the wolf shack after passing the grand lift of rold, just dont mess with castle sol until speaking to her

                            • Anonymous

There is a certain point you need to stand at next to the giant lady. Summon Latenna only shows up at certain place. The exact spot is a bit further away from her, but still on stone flooring.

                              • Anonymous

The quest seems to be bugged right now, at least for me. I've done everything right, and she willingly turn herself into spirit ashes to travel with my character. Latenna doesn't speak to me when arriving at Castle Sol or the Consecrated Snowfield. It would've been nice to hear her as It helps to bring immersion and emotion to her quest.

If you have properly executed Latenna's quest, you should get a 'Summon Latenna' prompt whilst standing in front of the giant Albinauric woman in Apostate Derelict.

Otherwise the giant woman will say nothing and there is no 'Talk' prompt as one might expect.

Just do the summon and exhaust Latenna's dialoge and voila - one lovely Somber Acient Dragon Smithing Stone will be yours.

"Latenna makes mention that her better half Lobo, the wolf beside her, was taken from her by the “all-hearing brute,” likely talking about Ensha"

                                    Wouldn't this refer to Gideon?

I missed the questline, but found her ghost sitting on the east side of the Mountain Tops river, near the north western end of the river. What is she doing there?

                                      • Anonymous

I had gone into the Mountaintops far enough to kill Juno Hoslow and she was still alive when I went to get her ashes. Perhaps the cut-off point is entering Castle Sol or completing it?

DO NOT GET THE MEDALLION FROM CASTLE SOL BEFORE GETTING THE MEDALLION FROM VILLAGE OF ALBUNARICS AND TALKING TO LETENNA AGAIN....you will miss out on 1 of the 8 Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones you can acquire per playthrough. As soon as you talk to Latenna go to the Village and get the medallion and go back and talk to Latenna before you proceed. This is what they mean by "advancing too far".

                                          • Anonymous

I'm following her questline but despite arriving in Castle Sol and in the Consacrated Snowfields after properly receiving her Ashes showing the medallion's other half, the Dialogues didn't triggered.
Am I missing something? Do you have to summon her at least once to have the interactions?

                                            • Anonymous

She's talking about Gideon when she's referring to the "all-hearing brute". Ensha acts on Gideon's orders. Including when he tries to kill the player.

                                              • Unfortunately you have to talk to her again to get the ancient somber stone in ng+ and beyond even though you still have her summon. Game doesn't let you summon in apostate derelict before then.

                                                • Anonymous

Since she can't walk without Lobo, it is only natural she dies if not discovered in time. Very sad but logical.

                                                  • Anonymous

                                                    My fave.

Honestly I had some serious trouble getting emotionally invested in the world of this game at all, up until I randomly started her quest.

We kill bosses now together, and she will see her homeland.

Nice twist on the old Npc quest format, From. A nice touch she actually joins you on your journey in a way. Whole thing seems a more meaningful task than "get teh power". I know she's basically just another item in the inventory but I feel distinctively more sorry about falling off ledges now.

                                                    • Anonymous

Trivia is wrong, she's talking about the edgelord guy who attacks you in the roundtable, not gideon. Gideon calls him the "all hearing" after you kill him

                                                      • Anonymous

found her just before defeating fire giant, and she was already dead, with the summon on the ground. I already had both halves of the medallion (but i didnt use them at the lift yet), maybe that's the thing that she dies from? anyone have her die without having both medallion pieces?

Even more so since her sister isn't even there but rather at the Apostate Derelict way off to the west of where you actually need to go to complete her questline. You could argue she didn't know that either but eh, would have been nice to hear her comment on the Haligtree and her purpose for returning there.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

There are numerous complaints about how missable latenna and her whole questline is, and while I think these would be entirely valid about most of the other quests in the game, I think this one especially in the earlier steps was probably one of the most guided quest in the game. Sure, gating a whole zone behind two half hidden locations isn't a very good idea, but from dialogues to item description, what you have to do is actually explained to you.

My issue was more that it's a very early quest and I don't believe fort Sol is ever mentioned again after that particular dialogue with Latenna, so after a lot of hours I had entirely forgot about it and was wondering when and where I'd finally find the other half. It didn't help the dialogues supposed to take place upon entering castle soo 'ever happened for me.

My other issue is that I find it weird they'd would gate their chief character boss battle behind meeting two characters you could entirely miss, especially when one is located in an obnoxious location such as the swamp. By chief character I mean that malenia is one of their most advertised character, with the deluxe version even including a replica of her helmet. Nevermind they'd gate a whole location, though : I'm okay with that. After all, a lot of content is skippable and missable in Elden Ring.

But back to topic, it was a pretty guided quest imho. It's not like Millicent, the three fingers priestess, gold mask, or even nephili loux, who you are more or less required to meet at specific locations at specific point in time - I had, myself, already scoured and cleaned those areas and had zero reasons to go back ever.
Leaving to random chance whether you can end their questlines or not.

                                                                                • Anonymous

So I actually killed Latenna early on (because farming her armor is a total pain), and coming back I actually found her ashes on Lobo's body. Haven't burnt the erdtree yet. Not sure if it affects the questline as I've already been to the consecrated snowfield and haligtree at this point. I'll see if the Philia thing can still happen

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                            • Anonymous

But then you miss out on the Ancient Somber Dragon Smithing Stone. So I guess it's up to you if you want the +10 Somber upgrade or to not farm the wolfrider in the blizzard for 3 hours.

                                                                                                            • For those struggling to figure out what to do with this questline, here is how it went for me:
I got the medallion half from Albus and showed it to Latenna, she turned into spirit ashes and asked me to take her to the Haligtree (so far so good).
Some time later I got to Mountaintop of the Giants. I *did not* get a prompt from her at Castle Sol OR upon entering the Consecrated Snowfield.
However, I was able to summon her at the Apostate Derelict and finish the quest. Please note that the spot you need to stand is a few feet away from the big Albinauric woman. I thought my questline was broken at first and almost walked away when I noticed the prompt come up. I hope this helps someone.

When I got to the snowy places, including Castle Sol, she never spoke to me. And when I reached the Apostate Derelict, I was not able to summon her to get the stone.
                                                                                                                Very unsatisfactory.

This was on patch 1.03.3

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

So if you get the spirit ashes on the wolf in her camp, there is no use in going to the consecrated snowfield to try and get the stone, you will not be able to summon her and so you wont get the stone.

Tried again and beat Sol boss then went to the shack without picking up the medallion and quest was still active. I do not praise Sol after what he did to poor Sue.

The area with the troll has summoning enabled, so if you draw the direwolf there before fighting the troll knight and the sorcerers, you can summon Latenna and with some luck, she will ride the direwolf. The wolf becomes non-hostile while Latenna is riding it, but if she is defeated, the wolf becomes hostile again.
