Latenna is an NPC in Elden Ring. Latenna can be found after finishing the Lakeside Crystal Cave dungeon located under the southern ridge of Liurnia. She willingly becomes a Spirit to join the player, becoming Latenna the Albinauric.

Let's try again. I'm Latenna. An Albinauric, the same as Old Albus.

Latenna Location in Elden Ring

Latenna can be found sitting in front of the Slumbering Wolf's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes. This area is only accessible after completing the Lakeside Crystal Cave dungeon. [Map Link]

  • This NPC does not move
  • This NPC can be killed
  • If defeated, it's reported the Latenna does not drop their Spirit Ashes.

Latenna Questline: How to complete Latenna's Quest

Latenna's questline revolves around a separate NPC, Albus, that can be found in the Village of the Albinaurics.

Speaking to Albus will give players the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) and he will ask that should the player encounter Latenna that they give her the Medallion, speaking to Latenna with the medallion in hand she will see that Albus trusts the player and therefore she has no reason to doubt them, she will then ask if the player is willing to take her to the land of Miquella’s Haligtree.

Important Note: If players do not approach her before collecting both pieces of the Haligtree Secret Medallion, she will die and only her Spirit Ashes can be found. This makes it impossible to begin and complete her quest. A handful of players confirmed that she was dead after obtaining both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. It is possible you may still be able to go back immediately after defeating Commander Niall, and not taking the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) before you leave the castle to go talk with her first. To prevent any trouble, you may want to grab her Ashes before progressing past the Grand Lift of Rold

Promising Latenna to take her to the Haligtree, she will join the player and willingly become a Spirit summon, Latenna the Albinauric. She will also hint at the location of the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left).

Upon reaching the Apostate Derelict [Map Link] located in the Consecrated Snowfield players can interact with the giant Albinauric woman to summon Latenna. Doing so, Latenna will reward the player with a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

Dialogue in Elden Ring: Latenna

Introduction

  • Foul tarnished, what do you want?
I told the all-hearing brute. That I possess no such medallion.
Or have you come to take more from me? Was my other half not enough?

After showing her the secret medallion

  • Oh...do you speak true?
So old Albus entrusted his medallion to you.... Then I've no choice. But to trust that this was his dying will.
Let's try again. I'm Latenna. An Albinauric, the same as Old Albus. My apologies for my coarse words earlier. I presumed the worst, seeing that you were another Tarnished, like that all-hearing brute. I hope that you will forgive me.
  • Mm, the medallion is better off in your hands, anyway.
Would you consider doing me a great service? I must go back. There is something that I must do, even if I must say farewell to my wolf, Lobo.
Will you show me the way? To the land of Miquella's Haligtree.
If you accept, I would gladly apprise you. Of the whereabouts of the medallion's other half.
  • (Hear her request) Thank you kindly. They say the other half of the medallion is beyond the forbidden lands north of the Erdtree. In Castle Sol, on the Mountaintops of the Giants, accessible by the Grand Lift of Rold.
  • Then I suppose it's time. Farewell, Lobo. My faithful wolf, my better half. I will go with the Tarnished. So that our journey will not have been in vain. Forgive me, Lobo.
    [You receive Latenna the Albinauric]
Call upon me when needed. And I will fight at your side.

Approaching Castle Sol (broken since 1.03, as of 1.06)

  • Do you hear me? It is I, Latenna. We're almost there. Castle Sol lies just off to the north, where the other medallion is housed. It will grant passage to the land of the Haligtree.

Arriving at Consecrated Snowfield (broken since 1.03, as of 1.06)

  • Do you hear me? It is I, Latenna. We have reached the land of Miquella's Haligtree, where Lobo and I began our travels. It's entirely thanks to you that I'm so close to home.
These great snow-laden lands stretch far to the north. And beyond the ancient bowers, and the liturgical town of Ordina, lies the place to which I must return.

At Apostate Derelict

  • Oh young yet towering sister of ours. Let the birthing droplet in. And create life. For us. For all the Albinaurics.
  • Thank you. I've finally fulfilled my purpose.
Our young yet towering sister will give us hope. Now that nothing is left unfinished, I will join you in battle to the bitter end. And when the fighting is done, then you may lay me to rest. Beside Lobo, my dear wolf.

When attacked

  • (Combat) Are all you Tarnished the same? Was taking my other half not enough for you?
  • (On player kill) There is no meaning in a fight, lest it serve a greater duty.

Upon defeat

  • Ohh... Phillia. Take...the birthing...droplet...

Elden Ring Latenna Notes & Trivia

  • When turned aggressive, she acts as a normal Albinauric Archer.
  • Latenna makes mention that Lobo, the wolf beside her, was taken from her by the “all-hearing brute,” likely referring to Gideon Ofnir. Ensha, who is Gideon’s servant, later invades after obtaining the medallion’s half in the Roundtable.
  • Her spirit summon makes mention that 'having lost her beloved wolf companion, she cannot move from the place where she was summoned'. This explains that she rode the wolf around, and why she cannot move from her location.
  • The name of her wolf companion was "Lobo", which means "wolf" in Spanish.
  • If Latenna is summoned near Direwolves, she will tame and ride one, making her significantly mobile, firing arrows along with breathing frost breath.

Shes supposed to talk to you when you bring her to certain points ingame but she never does for me. However, for some reason, when I was doing a randomizer run she actually did talk and used all her voice lines, so Idk what the problem is

      • Anonymous

Important note says that she dies if you have both halves of the medallion. It's just the second half. I haven't met albus yet, let alone got his half and she's already died and turned to spirit ashes. I had no idea she was here until I got the second half of the medallion (in castle sol) and looked up where the first half was.

        • Anonymous

I was in like ng +3 and she died so fast to Morgott. I checked to see if I accidently used an unupgraded one but she was +10! Is she that weak? She also did like 200 damage every 3 arrows, which is abysmal.

          • found her ashes next to the damn wolf, i'm so tired of shi like this happening in this game
all that time spent fighting niall was rendered useless, thanks elden ring!

I finally found the Albinauric woman. She was hiding in a cave to the east of the Laskyar Ruins, which jut from the mist-shrouded lake of Liurnia.

She knew the location of the medallion’s counterpart, I was sure.

              • Anonymous

is her quest completely broken atm? Have her ashes in my inventory and led her to the big cute lady and nothing happened. She has no reaction. Her voice lines don't trigger as well

                • Anonymous

My question is why did Gideon seek the medallion to access the Haligtree? What would have been his purpose there? Was he looking for Miquella not realizing Mohg had already captured him. And why? What else would have made Gideon want to access the Haligtree???

                  • Anonymous

I got the second half of the medallion but forgot to exhaust her dialogue before, so when I came back there was only the spirit ashes. RIP ancient somber smithing stone.

                    • Anonymous

As of the latest version(1.09 I think) the dialogue does trigger and seems to work. I got both of them but while I was riding through the snow the second dialogue faded and then stopped as if I was getting too far away to hear her. So if you want to hear the voice lines make sure to either stop and listen or ride slowly. Otherwise everything seems to be in working order!

At which points in the game where she will ride a dire wolf and help you fight a boss? As far as I know, there is no Direwolf in ANY boss arena or near, SO whats the point of the ability to tame enemies?

                        • Anonymous

Didn’t finish Blaidd’s quest yet before getting to Mountaintop/Consecrated Snowfield and her dialogue triggered both times. I did all of Ranni’s, just didn’t go back to Caria Manor and confront Blaidd. Might have something to do with it.

Upgrade her to +10 and apply buffs like rallying standard and golden vow and watch as your crippled turret absolutely melts the dragonkin soldier in lake of rot before he even approaches

                              • Anonymous

When I met her we actually fell in love and became happily married and ditched the Lands Between, all of this is 100% true and is a secret side quest

                                • The dialogue triggers for Mountaintops and Snowfield still seem to be broken, or at least extremely finicky and unreliable. I never get either of those lines.

                                  • The broken dialogue is fixed as of the most recent update on 2/23/23. Had Latenna as a Spirit Ash and walked northeast of the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins grace, Dialogue triggered.

                                    • I'm currently playing on patch 1.08, did the steps correctly (I believe) to be on good terms with her, but as I approached the places she's supposed to talk to me I have no prompt from her :/

                                      • Anonymous

Just rock slinged his ass, thankfully he grabbed the summon and didn't do it again for the rest of the fight. I sincerely do not know how you're supossed to fight him in melee, but thankfully i didn't didn't do my first run as pure phys or i would be completely insane

                                        • Anonymous

Got Latenna, and heard all of her dialogue until arriving at the Apostate Derelict, where no dialogue triggered. Latenna's ashes are now no longer in my inventory, nor can I interact with big Albinauric lady, not sure what the problem is. Likely a bug I'm guessing.

                                          • Anonymous

So, in all my hundreds of hours she just now spoke to me about approaching castle sol. I didn't realize it was broken. Maybe it's because I didn't rest at the grace where you meet melania, I'll try to repeating the same thing when arriving at the snowfields.

Another thing, this little piece of dialoge added so much to her character. And made me slightly more attached to her journey by just hearing her voice.

                                            • Anonymous

The wiki says that Latenna's dialogue is broken as of patch 1.06, but now we have reached version 1.08. it is still like that?

                                              • Anonymous

Weird question: suppose you do the quest normally and she becomes a spirit ash, if you were to discard her spirit ashes , does it fail the quest?

                                                • Anonymous

From her dialogue I thought I could go back to Lobo after becoming elden lord and reunite them or something but doesn't seem like it, would've been nice if you could but I guess it's the classic no happy endings in souls game allowed situation.

                                                  • Anonymous

Approaching Castle Sol (broken since 1.03, as of 1.06)
Arriving at Consecrated Snowfield (broken since 1.03, as of 1.06)

These two are not problems due to the game version.
If you kill one of Blaidd, Iji, or Seluvis, you lose the dialogue flag.
Do not kill Blaidd either, who becomes an enemy at the end of Ranni's quest.
These were clarified by the Japanese wiki.

                                                    • Killing her at the Wolf Shack grace will drop the entire blue silver mail set. But you don't get the spirit ash which is fine because her summon is not useful to me and farming this set is a real pain anyway.

                                                      • Anonymous

In order to activate her Mountaintops and Snowfield dialogues, you need to equip her, then make her visible on your HUD. This happened to me when I was checking my pocket inventory to see if I had her equipped. At least, from my experience.

                                                        • Anonymous

Can anyone confirm or deny wether Lobo was named after the streamer LobosJr? He's possibly the most relevant Souls streamer and it would be wonderful if From placed a reference to him as a sort of thanks for the hype he's been keeping up for over 10 years.

i can confirm that if niall is dead, you can still talk to her as long as you havent picked up the second half of the medalion

                                                            • Anonymous

The trigger for her death appears to specifically be picking up medallion (Left) from Castle Sol, killing Niall or proceeding into the end-game doesn't seem to effect her.

                                                              • Anonymous

As of 12-23-22, I had both pieces if the secret medallion, and was able to summon Latenna. She said her thing to the giant woman, and I got the stone.

                                                                • Anonymous

For those who don't know what to do on the final part of the quest.
when you get to the part in Apostate Derelict, there will be an item highlight in front of the towering sister.
when you get close to it, switch the action to summon latenna.
                                                                  and there you go..

                                                                  • Anonymous

I'm currently locked out of doing this quest. I did indeed meet her at the cabin and thought I had done the necessary steps, but when I'm now arriving at the giant lady, there's no prompt and I can't summon her. I went back to the cabin and the dead wolf had her ashes. I grabbed them, and because I'm on NG+ had to swap the first playthrough one with the new one in the chest, and neither worked. Never got the dialogues before Castle Sol or the the Consecrated Snowfield. Seems like I missed going back to her to progress things along. Sucks that I wont get the Stone now. :/

                                                                    • Anonymous

Would be cool if at the end of her quest, you could get an improved version of her, as she rides her wolf in battle.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Find the Albinauric woman. She hides in a cave to the west of the Laskyar Ruins which jut from the mist-shrouded lake of Liurnia. She knows the location of the medallion's counterpart, I am sure.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Her quest can fail, don't know how but i went to get her medallion at slumbering wolf shack but she was not there, the spirit ashes were though, then when reaching derelict church there is no conclusion to the quest and you don't get the somber stone.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Now this is my idea of a short and sweet questline. Nothing annoying, no grinding, no RNG, you go to a handful of different places, get paid big time. That said, though the reward for how effortless this was is nice, I found myself appreciating Latenna's narrative and the dynamic to feeling like we were escorting her to these places. And at the end, when we finish, her demeanor really sells that we've just basically given this woman her dying wish, which was really cool. It gives some more 'character' to having her fight with us. She isn't some random dude we met in the middle of nowhere, she's, in a way, a member of our party. She does kinda swear fealty to us at the end, so one could argue she's our knight of sorts as well. Really cool, fun stuff without any real hassle.

                                                                            • Anonymous

I should mention, regarding the possibility of finding her either dead or alive, I was wholly unaware of her existence prior to defeating Commander Niall, but I hadn’t found the half of the secret medallion you get after (which was a mistake borne of me wanting to get the **** out of Castle Sol after everything I’d been through there). I’d found the Albinauric Village a little while after, gotten the one half of the medallion, and found Latenna alive after proceeding through the Crystal Cave. I then later got the other half at Castle Sol, so hopefully this does provide a bit more clarification.

                                                                              • I can confirm that defeating Captain Niall is possibly not the trigger to make Latenna's questline impossible.
Defeated Captain Niall and left without grabbing the 2nd half.
Went to the albinauric village, got the 1st half, and she was still alive.

So, Its more likely the trigger for her death is getting the 2nd half of the medallion. I updated the wiki based on that but, that doesnt mean nothing else can trigger her death, just in a clean game progressing no questlines but this one except talking to basic NPCs as required, Radahn+Godrick+Morgott, Skipped the Dectus Lift using the mountain path, this is what I found.

                                                                                • Anonymous

dang it, I went back for the first half before talking to her.
I've now failed this quest twice. (the first time I intentionally killed her, so that one's on me)

                                                                                  • Anonymous

So I killed Lattena in ng3 and she dropped all the entirety of the blue silver mail set. I had 141 discovery. Coincidence??

                                                                                    • Anonymous

These great snow-laden lands stretch far to the north. You won't be able to see anything, my friends will attempt to gun you down with Gatling Bows, random **** will shoot at you and sometimes giants will appear from nowhere to kill you."

                                                                                      • Anyone know how to trigger the Castle Sol or Consecrated Snowfields dialogues? I went where they showed the dialogue occurring in videos, and haven't seen it this time nor in previous playthroughs.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                          (Refuse)
                                                                                          Well...
I understand. You must have your own duty to fulfill.
But please, allow me to say my piece.
Even if you cannot take me, old Albus wished I relay to you the following:
The other half of the medallion can be found beyond the forbidden lands north of the Erdtree.

If you talk to her again you get this dialogue:

In Castle Sol, on the Mountaintops of the Giants, accessible by the grand life of Rold.
If you seek the other half of the medallion, they say it's beyond the forbidden lands north of the Erdtree.

After this you get two dialogue options:
"Hear her request after all" and "Leave"
If you choose leave nothing happen but if you choose "Hear her request after all" you get this dialogue:

                                                                                          My thanks...
You'll lead me then, to the land of Miquella's Haligtree.
Farewell Lobo, my faithful wolf, my better half.
I will go with the Tarnished. So that our journey will not have been in vain. Forgive me, Lobo.
                                                                                          [You receive Latenna the Albinauric]
Call upon me when needed. And I will fight at your side.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                            • Anonymous

There's no way I could have known about that arbitrary break point without reading a full game summary ahead of time. It's an OPEN WORLD game, and losing a major, hard limited upgrade item feels for missing/not going through one of DOZENS of caves feels really bad. Worse, this is only a two step quest - no interactions that would push you in the right direction. There's nothing that would clue you in to the urgency, nothing that really points you that direction, and no need for the item before you reach the break point because it's so short. Pretty much any other NPC quest in souls can be missed, but at least you knew you were on the quest so you could try not to fail it most of the time. I missed this because I played the game in a totally normal way, and I think I get to be a little salty about that.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

In case someone else is as dumb as me: the prompt to summon her at the giant woman is a few feet beck from the woman, closer to the grace. If you're right in front of her you won't get the option.

                                                                                                • I wish completing her questline would allow us to turn Lobo into a spirit to upgrade her into Latenna & Lobo ashes, maybe use Seluvis's Amber draught & his potion combined.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

She calls Lobo her “better half”.
If I’m not mistaken, this term describes someone who is your romantic and/or sexual partner.
                                                                                                    Am I getting this right?

I’d like to think that her being a cripple means that he’s quite literally her better half, from the bottom down.

                                                                                                    • First encountered "Lady D" here at Apostate Derelict.

I went back to the wolf shack to find her ashes curled up with the body of lobo.

So it seems like they kept them together in the end.

For me she signals what is wrong about Fromsofts brand of easily missable questing. In Elden ring there are WAY too many quests that start late game and all converge in the north. Even if they are mid world quests like say Warrior Jar Alexander. The world would be more vibrant if they would spread out questing more through a normal playthrough. Yeah we dont need a bunch of "slay 3 rat" quests but they do in fact know how to write compelling story. They just need to distribute it better.

Letenna really had no reason to be this far out.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Does anyone know what arrows the latenna spirit summons uses? I've died a shed load of times to ekzykes from when I first read a comment about its rot breath incantation. Its been a while since I've bothered trying, but I've been experimenting with status effect arrows. I had bleed and poison arrows and barrage on a +14 short-bow. Those arrows seem to be useless against ekzykes, but I had put latenna +2 as high as I could overlooking the dragon. I saw some interesting results as well, wolves and lhutel both at +6 die to the dragon in a minute or two once it has focused on them. latenna lasted much longer and she was doing more damage to it than I was with arrows sting talisman. Anyone here use latenna regularly know why she was doing so much damage with only 2 ghost-glovewart upgrades?

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

I had to moved around a bit, to the right (when facing woman) and a few steps away the summon message popped up.

                                                                                                          Hope that's helps.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

This seems to be true, because passing through Mountaintops of the Giants she spoke to one of my characters but not the other, who used a different summon for that fight.

                                                                                                                    • Huh, I never knew she had dialogue when approaching Sol or the Snowfield, I've never heard it across three playthroughs. I wonder if you have to do something else to trigger it or if the spot to stand is just really particular.

This quest line broke for me for some reason although I did it "correctly" is there a specific order?
