Lazuli Glintstone Sword is a Straight Sword in Elden Ring.  The Lazuli Glintstone Sword scales primarily with Strength and Intelligence and is a good Weapon for Intelligence- based builds.

A sword with a glintstone in its handguards. Wielded by scholars of the Lazuli Conspectus who seek to master Carian sorcery. Deals magic damage.

Apparently once used as a staff of sorcery, this sword is made of wood.

Elden Ring Lazuli Glintstone Sword Notes & Tips

  • This weapon has a very unique heavy attack that can block attacks before its slash comes out. Charging the heavy attack will further extend the time the weapon can block before slashing.
    • Despite the way it may appear, the animation does not utilize your left hand shield during the attack.  Only the block stats of the weapon itself will apply
  • This special attack does not work with the Curved Sword talisman, but is impacted by the Greatshield Talisman
  • Blocking any attack with this weapons heavy attack will never put you into stun, unless the move you have blocked completely drains your stamina.
  • This weapon's unique charged heavy attack does significantly less stance damage than other straight swords (1h Charged R2 does 15 stance damage vs. the typical 30 of most straight swords).
  • 2-handing this weapon will increase its guard boost by 10%, just like any other weapon. This does include this weapons heavy attack and this does stack with the Greatshield Talisman.
  • Carian Knight's Sword shares the unique heavy attack of this weapon.
    • Lazuli  Glintstone Sword boasts higher magic damage, lower stat requirements and a more reliable Ash of War.
    • Carian Knight Sword has higher physical damage, higher overall damage, and better block performance (both damage reduction and guard boost)
    • Generally speaking, Carian Knight Sword is better for hybrid casters (with some amount of dex/str investment) while Lazuli Glintstone Sword performs better with a pure caster build (60-80 INT)
  • At +10 with 80 INT, 8 STR and 12 DEX (base Sorcerer stats), this weapon has an AR of 561, with 230+118 Magic damage and 193+19 Physical damage.
  • At +10 with 80 STR, 12 DEX and 18 INT (Srength Int build stats), this weapon has an AR of 595, with 193+126 Physical damage and 230+44 Magic damage.
  • Weapon SkillGlintstone Pebble
  • This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War.
  • Can't be enchanted with Magic and boosted by Consumables.
  • Lazuli Glintstone Sword can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones
  • Sell Value:  er runes 13 100

the worst straight sword and its not close. The charged R2 is just a hinderance in every way, and even has the downside of bad stance damage for whatever reason (and stance damage is the only reason u would even do a charged R2 in the first place). They want you to block with this but it has 30 physical damage resistance and 33 guard boost??? Not even infusable and ur stuck with glintstone pebble, which is far worse than carian grandeur that carian knight's sword has (which is like almost the exact same weapon btw). And the range isnt good and its UGLY too

      • Anonymous

That guard was pretty good until they nerfed all blocking because of how op fingerprint shield and shield pokers were. They really should treat this weapon and Carian Knight Sword separately, cause right now the block ability is actualy more harmful to you than useful, when you accidentaly get hit while using R2 and you're instantly guard broken.

Even though I like this weapon and Carian Sword is one of my favourites, they are still "what if"s. What if the guard was useful without dedicating whole build for it? What if describtions were true and these swords could cast sorceries?

        • Anonymous

Wanted to make a power stance SS with the ability to guard. Too bad the guard on this thing is absolute garbage. They should've at least made this unguardbreakable like shield bash. Taking the damage head on is better than guarding with this, at least you'll have stamina left doing that.

          • Anonymous

who TF at From thought it was a good idea for this thing, a magic implement that casts magic, is made of wood and magic things, scales the most with Strength?! as much as i love From, some of their design/balance decisions are monumentally stupid

            • Anonymous

this shouldn't have been a unique weapon tbh
can't even put ashes of war on this thing because apparently wanting carian greatsword on the stick that has been SHOWN TO BE ABLE TO CAST CARIAN GREATSWORD is too much for fromsoft.

              • Anonymous

This should have a higher guard reduction for Lightning due to being made of wood, like wooden shields do

                • Anonymous

Ideal for your astrologer that you put no points into str and dex and you've just killed the nobles near the schoolhouse classroom 600 times, and you remember that you can farm this right next to it and its four times more likely to drop.

                  • Anonymous

Why the hell does this scale best with strenght when the lazuli crown boosts dexterity and intelligence? They were just so lazy with way to many of the intelligence weapons.

                    • Anonymous

The goons that wield this can use it to cast sorceries, but not the player? This may actually be useful if it could cast.

                      • Anonymous

not-very-fun fact: At 80 STR and 80 INT, this weapon has 15 more magic damage than the Carian Knight's Sword, but 38 less physical damage. It obviously has lower physical base damage and higher magic base damage (and slightly lower base damage overall) than the Carian, but the really unpleasant thing is that for some reason the Lazuli Glintstone Sword has HIGHER strength scaling and LOWER intelligence scaling than the Carian, hurting its focus for magic damage, and it's also a much shorter sword. I actually think the Carian is a really good decently strong (especially dual wielded) and insanely versatile weapon for a primarily strength (but 20 int and 20 dex) build, but this weapon's so much just a worse Carian, and although you could dual wield this with the Carian, I think the Crystal Sword is clearly the better offhand, having significantly higher AR and more reach (although being much more physical focused).

                        • Anonymous

I love this weapon a lot, even if a magic-infused Broadsword with Glintstone Pebble on it is better in every single way.

                          • Anonymous

Is the glintstone pebble on this exactly the same as the glinstone stone ash of war u can put on a longsword?

                            • Anonymous

The scaling is horrifyingly bad and doesn't make ANY sense. D int????? C strength??????? Why????? At least switch those two! This is CLEARLY an intelligence weapon yet it had better strength scaling... I cannot believe how dumb the scaling is.

                              • This weapon should have at least a higher C scaling for int. We already have a more str heavy sword and it's outperforming this thing, even tho not by a lot. Also look at the stat req. It definetly should be more of an Int weapon. It is perfectly suited for a pure caster. It baffles me, that it doesn't get the scaling it desperately needs to be more viable. But I think it will never be rebalanced, because everyone and their grandma whined about it's very high stagger. Now its nerfed to crap. I bet nobody really wanted this.

                                • Anonymous

They should've made the R2 of this and Carian to be unguardbreakable like Shield Bash. Not like it's gonna be strong. With low reduction you'd still take a lot of damage and with low guard boost you won't have any stamina to go on the offensive. At least it will have a niche use and not completely useless as it is.

                                  • Anonymous

I’m notice that the blade glows when using R2 after casting glinstone skill. Does that also do bonus magic damage?

                                    • Anonymous

Compared to the Carian Knight's Sword:

-Similar scaling profile: Highest with Str, high D with Int, low D with Dex but since it's a Straight Sword it's law that it must have Dex scaling of some kind.
-Much better Skill: Glintstone Pebble is still a very flexible and useful Skill, and you can get just as much, if not more damage with it than you can with Carian Grandeur with a fraction of the effort.
-Shorter reach, shorter than most Straight Swords but not by a very noticeable amount.
-Harder to acquire: Easier to harass a Troll for the chest than to farm the same mob in Academy.
-Higher Magic damage, will deal less overall damage to foes resistant to Magic.

I think I'd rather have a Cold/Magic Longsword over this but for Str/Int builds it's a very solid weapon. Used it for most of my run on a 'spellblade' build as my main hand and did a stand up job all the while.

I was expecting this to work like the clerics candlestick from ds3, i was pretty dissappointed, but its still a pretty god weapon

Beating people with a wooden sword is the ultimate form of disrespect. Also the strong attacks are really fun and great.

                                          • Anonymous

This and the Carian Sword are both completly useless for pure int Builds get a Magic Longsword wich can do both ashes of war and does 60% more Damage.

                                            • Anonymous

basically a slightly worse carian knight sword, you trade 1 stability and some range for the almighty pebble

                                              • I'm trying to get the Lapis robes, and I just keeeeeep geeeetting these swords! It's only been half an hour, but I already have 6. The drop rate is just so high!

                                                • Anonymous

Yo what the hell... don't sleep on this sword, hard as it is to get. Glintstone pebble is utterly insane when it comes to breaking stances. Without any upgrades two shots staggered those mages, I can't imagine what it'll do to knights.

                                                  • Anonymous

You can follow up the weapon skill with an R2 to do a thrust attack that actually does a lot of damage on its own. It still counts as part of the weapon skill, meaning it can be buffed with Shard of Alexander/Warrior Jar Shard and presumably the Spear Talisman too.

                                                    • Anonymous

Instead of giving us a locked ash I wish they had let us put a spell in the ash slot, and maybe make the FP cost go up by 5% or something.

Considering it's made of wood, replacing the Standard/Pierce with Strike damage would be appropriate. Imagine the utility.

The only drawback for me is looking at the D in scaling for INT even at +10, but I will have likely swapped to Wing of Astel or Moonveil long before I'd have this fully upgraded. High base damage and low stat requirements to equip are what you want early in the game, which suits almost any early game mage build. Could still be pretty solid later if you are putting more points into STR than I will be.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Only 1 small shield, 3/27 medium shields out block this sword in magic defence (the brass shield being equal) & 14/25 heavy shields outblock magic of this sword, some of which are only a few points better.

And to think this weapon hasthe ability to block while charging into its heavy attack.

After testing it out, its decent, I wouldnt rely on the blocking against melee other than maybe once in pvp to throw off someone not expecting it. I just wish you could walk a little while performing the block.

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

FYI, the pebble glinstone ash is, at this moment, very broken. Why tho? Because the poise damage is ridiculous, to the point when you hit the pebble, the lunge afterwards is guaranteed, pretty much fatal in most situations

                                                                                      • Anonymous

Anyone who thinks this AOW is trash, clearly doesn't know how insane the poise damage is of the glintstone pebble. The following lunge attack can easily do 1.3K damage with 70INT on a duelist, it shuts down spammers real good.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

What exactly was the point in making this weapon not be able to take ashes? I’m seriously confused as to why. Compare it to the Carian Knight Sword and the only big difference is damage distribution between physical and magic. They could’ve at least given it a better ash than glintstone effing pebble of all things.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

Or hear me out you make a long sword magic and it has better damage and is more felxiable with ashes of war once you get the magic whetstone

                                                                                            • Anonymous

The WA isnt actually as bad as it seems, its range is pathetic, sure, but it does ungodly amounts of poise damage, on top of already decent damage. You can also follow this up with a long reaching thrust by hitting R2 immediately after the Pebble, it even combos in PvP

                                                                                              • Anonymous

As someone already mentioned, this weapon is interesting for PVP.
I've experimented some with a the weapon at +9 and at 70+ INT (SL 120); the weapon art followed by the stab 2-shots people more often than not.

What happens is the WA either knocks down or staggers the opponent for upwards of 50% HP, if they stagger it guarantees a hit on the heavy stab which then kills them.
The distance covered with the heavy stab is insane (and fast).

The block mechanic on the regular heavy attack is also special, you'll take reduced damage and it sort of works like having extra poise, allowing you to hit through attacks.
It hasn't been too useable in PVP though to be honest.

                                                                                                Also the sword is wooden.

I think this weapon will become more popular once people discover it.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

This sword and the Carian Knight Sword have an interesting strong attack- its a block followed by the attack.

It makes these weapons a little safer to power stance especially when 1 on 1, 1 on 2, human sized opponent(s). It also flows into either a quick attack or double attack pretty seamlessly.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

I'm finding that the Lazuli at +5 still marginally out-damages a +12 Magic attuned Short Sword/Magic Pebble ash, even though the short sword has more favorable scaling in the two stats most relevant on my character (INT/DEX). The damage advantage is enough that the Lazuli is significantly better when critical striking. (Tested against the short sword as it is probably the most comparable generic weapon based on weight and attack animations.)
