Lion Greatbow is a Greatbow in Elden Ring. The Lion Greatbow scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity, and is a good Weapon for ranged combat enhanced with gravitational power of the Starscourge and with an added unique skill, Radahn's Rain. It allows the user to fire a flurry of arrows and let it rain onto foes within range.
Greatbow of black iron wielded by General Radahn. Decorated with a lion mane motif.
Imbued with gravitational power of the Starscourge, when used along with Radahn's Spear, it becomes a true weapon of a champion.

Elden Ring Lion Greatbow Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill :Radahn's Rain
- This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War
- Lion Greatbow can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones
- This weapon grants Radahn's Spears 20% increased physical damage. This is a passive effect, so it will apply to Radhan's Spears fired from another great bow, while this weapon is held in the off-hand. So, for maximum damage, the Golem Greatbow, which has higher AR than this weapon, should be used in the main hand to shoot Radhan's Spears.
- Sell Value:
1000
- This Greatbow at +10 and using Radahn's Spear is actually highly effective against Radahn himself. Even with the HP increase given by allies, as long as they keep him in one place performing his rather slow combos and distracting him you can easily tear chunks off his health with the weapon art.
- All Bows (Crossbows excepted) only need 2/3 of their STR requirement, since they can only be used two-handed. This also means only 54 points of investment into STR are needed to meet the last soft cap at 80, since 54*1.5=81.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

For anyone else who was curious, having 2 of these increases the damage of a single shot spear, but does not increase the damage of the AoW even if spears are used as the ammo.
- Anonymous
incredibly effective AND funny to use on the annoying leyndell soldier that drops the gravel stone seal, at least if you have some points in strength and dex as a hybrid faith build
- Anonymous
B scaling in strength would make this a weapon worthy of radahn remembrance

I am on NG+ and am now dual wielding Lion Bow, with Ritual Sword, Arrows Reach, Arrows Sting, Shard of Alexander.
The Lion in the off hand turns the Radahn's Spear bonus to 40%!
For large bosses, this all stacks with Golden Order, Howl of Shabriri, and Flame Grant Me Strength.
Simply melts anything large with Radahn's Rain. And... using the spears and standard attack - usually stuns even the tankiest knights.
But... for long dungeon crawls, I stick with sniping with Golem Greatbow, since I can make fletched beast bone arrows all day.
Biggest planning headache is ensuring you don't run out of great arrows from that 30 arrow quiver. Thus... use of bone arrows

The bit about using the Golem Greatbow with Lion in the offhand isn't really optimal, since the 20% buff stacks. Using two versions of the Lion great bow (one on your back) and you'll hit harder than using the Golem bow, as long as you're using Radahn's Spears as ammo.

for me, it appears that Radahn's Rain costs 32 FP to use, rather than 25. Could there be something affecting my FP cost in a weird way, or is this page just outdated now?
- Anonymous
Can i use any other arrow on the bow? Because i tried and it.. And it didn't work
- Anonymous
On my somewhat pure quality build this is super solid. Its the lightest, does the most damage (even compared to golem) the ash of war is a better version of arrow rain so toss on golem arrows, and its got that 20% bonus with radahn arrows, it stacks. Oh and using those radahn arrows makes you deal more damage to void enemies. Hit the charging fallingstar got him stunned for a second and nuked him with one shot coolest sh** ever.

I hate that bows in this game never get higher scaling than D.

I've never been a fan of the greatbows I didn't see their mobility and weight penalties being worth the increased damage they do especially when I only use a bow as a secondary weapon of opportunity anyway, the knock up is handy but situational as to when it can cause strong enemies a falling death. I duped the Radahn remembrance much earlier without reading the wiki for it and I got a colossal sword I still don't have the END to meet the equip load I'd need to deal with its weight and either of the two armour sets I prefer I also only have 18 INT so I'd be reluctant to upgrade it for the weapon art anyway. Also, I didn't know the lion bow was a greatbow.
I've just got to Miquella's Haligtree though and I've had to eat s**t in my opinion of the greatbows and especially the lion greatbow, it was a big enough u-turn for me to go farm the Albinaurics at blood-filled lake for the runes to upgrade the lion bow to +9 and fill my inventory with Radahn's spear great arrows. That combination with both arrow's reach and sting talismans made getting down from the top of the tree to the Loretta boss fight a lot easier than it would have otherwise been, it really is a difficult area and I learned a big lesson in not letting my prejudice about certain weapons get in my way and make everything harder than it needs to be.

Ok so question:
Would this work against King Saxophone? I’m thinking about the AoW shredding him but the second phase worries me.

I never thought I feel joy in my life again, until I had Lion Greatbow +9.
This GIGACHAD's bow makes Monster Hunter from Elden Ring and I absolutely LOVE IT!
The PvP usage of this bow is great
You use it the same way as in DS3
Just roll catch the opponent who rolls towards you
I'd suggest quick switching this weapon in tho because it's really heavy

I just did a very brief test between the Lion Bow and the greatbow with rain of arrows AoW
Firing on the left tree sentinel (of the pair) from behind the gates in Leyndell
The greatbow is +14, and the lion bow +6, to keep the damage numbers consistently close at 408 and 410 total AR respectively (not including arrows)
The greatbow with rain consistently dealt above 900 damage, recorded two numbers are 934 and 1081
The lion bow using regular great arrows dealt 435 and 398 damage by my testing. There were many more arrows in this rain, but the target wasn't big enough to be in the entire radius it seems.
Using the radahns spear as ammo, I got 523 damage.
To summarize, use the Lion bow for very large targets, and you may get more damage off the skill. Or use the greatbow and rain AoW to get more consistent damage at lower FP cost.

I used this bow to cheese the gargoyle in Lyndell. There is a spot outside the fortified manor where you can spam RR without the gargoyle shockwaves hitting you. Arrows reach talisman is required.

This is terrific as a sidearm to complement a primary melee weapon in PvE, which in my opinion is the best use for bows/crossbows in this game. Can confirm that Radahn's Rain (when used with Radahn's Spears!) is a high-damage, stagger-tastic punish against large enemies. It made an excellent answer to all of the endgame colossi, but even before then it was great in Dragonbarrow and absolutely swatted the dragonkin solder in the Lake of Rot. Try it with Spear Talisman! I also like taking this into co-op and refreshing everyone's aura buffs with Golden Greatarrows on the second slot.

Got yourself a strength build, looking for a good ranged weapon and you don't feel like fighting astel, literally any dragon, or any sizable enemy? Wanna turn off your brain and just see the damage numbers go up? Well Sir, Madam, or Other, I have the bow for you!
Get yourself the weapon art charm, throw on arrow's sting, get some Radahn's Spears and watch that 2-3K damage per weapon art against Elden Beast, Astel, or whatever large enemy you don't like at the time!

TLDR: Lion is a more practical choice than Golem (ime).
I have the Golem, Lion and Erdtree GBs. I haven’t bothered much with the ET so I won't regurgitate the Fextra verdict on it or make stuff up. Look for yourself.
However, if previous FS games are anything to go by, seldom are weapons crap or unviable, regardless if dropped or rewarded. Perhaps someone has a great ET GB build/playstyle. Who knows.
The Lion has better power-to-weight ratio than the Golem, making it quite practical if you're wearing armour and use melee weapons. It appears to have better damage when using Radahns arrows than with the Golem.

Absolutely melts large enemies like Dragonlord and Elden Beast. I was struggling with Dragonlord for over an hour, then bit the bullet and decided to trade in Radhan's rememberance for this beast of a greatbow and bought like 10 Radhan Spears. Upgraded it with my stash of somber stones and destroyed Dragonlord on my first attempt with the bow. Absolutely trivialized him. My only regret was not beating him with my normal weapons that I had been using for most of the game. It was a cool feeling to change up my strategy to adapt to a tough foe, but I wish I could have use my trusty spear to take him down. Sorry old pal.

This Bow is actually heavily underrated. Yes, according to damage numbers the Ash of War does the same as a greatbow with rain of arrows, at a much higher FP Cost.
It truly shines with Radahn Spears. They seem to immensely buff the damage compared to regular usage.
Against large targets like dragons, the bow does 2-3k a usage, along with heavy stagger effect.
I would recommend it over a Greatbow with Rain of Arrows, but I would recommend a normal Bow with Rain of Arrows more, due to ammunition utility and procs. It’s overall a lot better than straight damage.

What a garbage bow. It gets beaten out by the Golem Greatbow even when fully upgraded (not even a unique weapon)... how are you gonna make Radahn's greatbow have worse scaling than a non-unique greatbow that can be farmed?
Not to mention the garbage ash of war it has. I cannot tell you how many times I've been locked onto an enemy, and instead of landing on the enemy the storm of arrows will land directly on top of my player... WHILE LOCKED ON! Inexcusable. Just an actually atrocious bow. Like really really bad.

Ironically enough, this greatbow at +10 and using Radahn's Spears is actually highly effective against Radahn himself. Even with the HP increase given by allies, as long as they keep him in one place performing his rather slow combos and distracting him you can easily tear chunks off his health with the weapon art. Took me less than 10 arrows to put him down, including misses.

Basically best greatbow because you can easily buy so many radahn spear arrows with the albinauric farm. And that weapon art is just beautiful. Helped me cheese the 2 ulcerated tree spirits in ashen leyndell and the 1 in haligtree

I think golem's greatbow has slightly higher damage potential from scaling, and mighty shot is better in most situations than arrow rain, but between this thing's looks and much lower weight it's definitely a good choice.

Arrow Sting, Spear Talisman, and bull goat talisman with this is fun in PvP. Hold the bow, then wait until they get close, they will roll and then attack, shoot during this time and you will one shot some people, you can also punish run away buffs and castings. Love this thing.

The weapon art is affected by the Ritual Sword Talisman, Arrow's Sting Talisman and Gofrey's Icon. The regular attack, despite having a charge up is not affected by the Godfrey Icon, as it's not considered a spell or skill, but is boosted by the other two.
- Anonymous
Does the arrow's reach talisman allow the weapon art to reach further?
It's insane if you have enough runes for the arrows, it staggers a lot of enemies, even some bosses like Malenia. Perfect for combo with ashes that have high HP.
- Anonymous
Killed Astel dozens of times with this thing as a co-op. Use all the arrow bling + ritual sword talisman, pop a physick that eliminates FP use and spam Radhan's Spears all the way.
- Anonymous
This should have scaled with INT to form a counterpart to the Erdtree Greatbow.
- Anonymous
Shoulda been called Dragonslayer Greatbow. Because that's what it does.
- Anonymous
Weapon skill is busted for large enemies and makes the worst bosses in the game like the final boss actually fun.
- Anonymous
Do we have any idea what the effective range of the weapon art is? This bow is cool as hell and I kinda want to use it
- Anonymous
god damn this thing rocks HARD at enemies that can be staggered, 1.3k damage weapon art with normal greatarrows (40 str 53 dex) + critical hit window, i reccomend this for ulcerated tree spirit boss at haligtree
- Anonymous
The Lion Greatbow outdamages the Golem Greatbow only when using Radahn spears (it gets a damage buff when firing them). Skill-wise, Radahns Rain may outdamage Through and Through if most of the shots hit their target.

Radahn's Rain is great to cheese some bosses, but you must be relatively close to them. Did around 1200 dmg @ dragon by the end of Ranni's quest.
It has kinda low damage with +10 for a Boss weapon.
The golem Greatbow that i have has 318 damage and it's a simple trash golem mob.

Use this bow with the Radahn's arrows (bought from the remembrance merchant), the skill become meteor shower instead of arrow shower
becomes meteor rain when used with Radahn's arrow which you can pick up from the battle field and bought from the hold
There is an ash of war that does the exact same skill as this, but with any greatbow.
- Anonymous
How do you fire this bow? Anytime I try, I get the animation that my character is trying to find arrows but they’re most def there… smh #noob

ok so i thought you had to duplicate the remembrance to get 2 swords but you apparently just 2 hand it and it pulls one from your back. do i sell the duplicate or take this bow? i dont own a single upgraded ranged weapon nor any good bow so theres that.

Hey guys, if you want to take the easy route for Radahn as a melee, you will need barricade ash of war and a great shield. If you can use a bleed weapon as well you will have an easy time. Only have a couple moves you cannot fully block and barricade greatly reduces stam cost of blocking as does the great shield apparently. Regular shields will not work at an appropriate level. After failing multiple times solo and trying summons which take forever here, Using a great shield was the game changer, as well as knowing when to use torrent, which is any time hes not trying to fight melee, aside from the gravity orbs which are easier to dodge on foot.

Pretty disappointing Weapon Art. The rain of arrows is centered on the target, but they fall in a cone, meaning that unless the target is really big a majority of the arrows are going to miss. The cone also doesn't move with the enemy, so unless they are standing still its going to miss completely. Might be good for killing a dragon, but outside of that I'd rather just have a normal Greatbow.
- Anonymous
Does this greatbow have scaling good for quality by chance? I'm curious because this might be really dang fun to mess around with once I'll make a quality build to run thought the game with.

Is this at all useful? Seems like arrows are really hard to come by

Boss weapon, kill the demi-god in the south eastern area for it. He is very tough so good luck!

Can Somebody explain how Tf this thing weighs less than the normal wooden Greatbow? The description literally says it's made of iron.
