Effect
Summons three lone wolf spirits.
|
Lone Wolf Ashes is a Spirit and Summon in Elden Ring. Lone Wolf Ashes summons a pack of three wolves with independent life bars that can move and attack enemies at melee range.
Despite being called Lone Wolf, these ashes spawn 3 wolves that work as a team. Wolves have decent amount of HP, they move quickly enough and they inflict a decent amount of damage. Wolves are better as DPS rather than Tank companions. Wolves are not very useful against Bosses whose attacks have a great AoE. Wolves may not resist many attacks, but they move a lot around enemies, and they dodge a lot, attacking as a team.
Lone Wolves can also be found as Enemies in Elden Ring. For more information, see Lone Wolf.
NOTE: Patch 1.13 Will no longer stagger as easily.
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirits of three lone wolves.
Spirits of wolves chased from their pack. They later encountered a nameless Tarnished, who welcomed them as hunting companions. The wolf spirits overwhelm enemies with their agility, aiding the summoner in combat.
Lone Wolf Ashes Location in Elden Ring
The Lone Wolf Ashes can be found at the following location:
- Given to players by Renna at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave. Return to the Church after getting the ability to summon your Spectral Steed Whistle from Melina. You will find Renna sitting by the ruins of the church. [Map Link]
- If the player missed the opportunity of encountering Renna at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave, the Lone Wolf Ashes and the Spirit Calling Bell can be purchased from the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold.

- They deal high damage.
- They will often leap backward and forward, destroying the surroundings.

I noticed that the one given by Ranni and the one bought from the twin maiden husks are actually different spirit with the same stat, i have the game in french and the two actually have a different description (the same meaning but wrote with different words). Or maybe they just updated the ashes and the new version is different from the older one but they actually kept both versions, any one have the same thing ? I collected almost everything and so I always verify I have each item, and for this one it was marked as if I had none so I was curious and that's how I discovered this.

absolute trash, don't draw agro for **** and do no damage and die very ****ing quickly

You very first spirit ash (unless you picked the fanged imps). There may be stronger ashes in the game but these three were your early game companions for a while and helped you when you were new to the game. They are most definitely the goodest of boys <3

I like to throw bone darts at the enemy, doggs will chase the bone

Oh.. Who's my good little stance breakers? Yes you are! Now go maul Greyoll! Ah, good boys! You killed me a dragon!
I advise you only summon these if you're rightfully part of the wolf pack.

was "They later encountered a nameless Tarnished" was just a random factoid in the past or when the player gets them?
- Anonymous
Should've evolved them into the white wolves or dire wolves at +10

I think it's fitting that Renna, blatantly not her name, gives you the Lone Wolf Ashes, wolves that are blatantly not alone.

I typically use either these guys or Stormhawk Deenh depending on what I'm fighting. Mimic Tear is reserved for if I die way too many times to the same boss and I have my panties in a bunch

i love the thousand yard stare all 3 of them have, it's like the games version of "i may be stupid - bottom text"

Wolves are the shadows of the Empyreans. It is stated by Ranni that ”I was entrusted this, for thee.
By Torrent's former master."Miquella" wanted you to have them. You tarnished are linked to Miquella.

welp... here's something! me and my father both play elden ring, but instead of calling dogs, dogs we call them "digs".

I have these good boys at +9 right now and I’m seriously deciding to upgrade them all the way to +10. For how I wanna play I love this summons. There’s nothing more cool than walking around with these guys protecting me.

I find it interesting and ironic that the spirit ashes given to us by Ranni when we first meet her are very effective against her mom.
Could it be intentional? I mean we have to beat Rennala to get the ring to become Ranni's consort.

These guys bullied Rennala so bad she didn’t get a single spell out. Almost felt bad, really.

I never used a spirit ash before for any of my builds.
But now, on my lvl 25 +3, the late game bosses hit hard af. And the only ash I had so far was this. And boy, these doggos are very good boys! Breaking the stance, distracting, dealing damage, yeah!

Radagon the father: Big boi, big wolves; Ranni the daughter: Small girl, small wolves. They are dog people, absolutely. Kinda miss our cute dark souls cats in Elden Ring...

I understand your attempts at humor.
I simply do not find them entertaining.

a quick heads up for new players about this spirit summons, from first being given them by Ranni to using them with glovewart upgrades in late game areas, they will trivialise a surprising number of boss encounters, from the black knife assassin boss at deathtouched catacombs in limgrave to esgar priest of blood in leyndell catacombs later on, and they take the fun right out of it. I've noticed this quite a few times recently, I summon them and the boss ignores me, all three wolves target the boss doing damage as well as staggering them, a full charged R2, a couple of jump attacks or a hit or two from the lion's claw AoW on great-stars and the boss is done, but it means nothing to me. I didn't think to deactivate the furlcalling finger remedy before the nox swordstress and nox priest duo boss encounter at sellia town of sorcery, or before the three putrid crystalians at sellia hideaway, I didn't know I wouldn't be able to summon any spirit ashes while the finger remedy was active, and I enjoyed those two boss fights more than any when I've used the wolves for an easy victory, the putrid crystalians was a tense boss fight, I had to make an effort and it felt especially good when I killed them.

I have these at +5, I don't care what anyone else says or believes, these wolves are a damn sight more useful and effective than lhutel the headless has ever been, its not even close. lhutel might have some fancy tricks, but they are only beneficial if she actually uses them in the first place. the wolves made light work of the sanguine noble boss in writheblood ruins and esgar priest of blood in leyndell catacombs, the black knife assassin mini boss outside sainted hero's grave wasn't able to deal with them either, between the three of them they locked her right down.

If there are any new players reading this after getting these spirit ashes from Ranni, it would be a mistake to take what it says here as anything other than the opinion of whomever wrote the page, and should definitely try them out for themselves with an open mind, the wolves are a lot more useful, effective and versatile than you might think after reading their wiki. this spirit ash isn't only useful early on then outclassed by spirit ashes you get later. with grave glovewart upgrades they are just as good for me in Altus Plateau as they were in Limgrave.

I don't care if this isn't an 'optimal' ash, these are the best boys and no one can convince me otherwise.
Although I do feel pretty bad when I summon them at a bad time and all three get AoE instagibbed....
- Anonymous
Act as a frontline fighter, bait your enemies into attacking a shield and counter from there the wolves will almost certainly finish their poise and allow for a crit. However they shine against Rennala specifically as very few attacks in stage one can hit them and they are fast enough to dodge most of her stage two attacks.

May be a dumb question, but is the "nameless Tarnished" referred to in the item description the player character?

Wait. Could these wolves the ones depicted in Farum Azula statue around a woman, inside Maliketh boss room? If yes, she could be the previous torrent owner like saaid by Renna.

Summon these to fight Rennala to make it pure easy mode. They run around and kill the crawling sorceresses for you, then during 2nd phase stagger her to hell.

Due to their speed, they make excellent companions in any situation where you are clearing mobs on horseback.
Due to their aggression, these pooches have literally saved my life on a few occasions.
Who”s a good boy?

these work very well for aggroing enemies and keeping the heat off you

3 wolves, same as the three wolves given to an empyrian (E.G. Maliketh was given to Marika)

Stagger stun lock wolves. These are great for those mini bosses that have little poise such as black knife assassins and cemetery shades

Whoever named this summon seems a bit confused on the concept of a LONE wolf.

Do the wolfs proc things like the Sacrificial Axe and the Ancestors Spirit Horn?

I noticed something. This Ash given to us by Renna summons 3 lone wolves, and there are 3 wolves hanging out in front of Ranni's Rise. Could be a coincidence or could be something.
- Anonymous
For the people not getting Renna encounter. It has to be night and also you need to fast travel to the church, using fast travel from your map. Going there on foot doesn't seem to trigger the encounter. I hope that helps

You people should really read item descriptions. They're called "Lone Wolf Ashes" because they're the spirits of 3 lone wolves. Each wolf was chased from their pack and came together as hunting companions to a tarnished (your character).

Addition request: In this wiki page only states 1 way of obtaining the ashes, while the wiki of the spirit calling bell states a second way of getting them. "If you do not get the Spirit Calling Bell from Renna, she will eventually stop appearing at the Church of Elleh. However, you can buy the bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes from the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold."
There are 2 ways of getting it: From Renna as a gift, or from the Twin Maiden Husks for [Price].

Any benefits of leveling up this item? Or just keep it at lv1

Upgraded to +5 these doggos destroyed Margitt the Fell Omen on their own and survived! I love these puppies!

I read at forum, this one can be increased to 5 wolves summon, is it true??
Surprisingly once upgraded these wolves make most bosses stupid easy. Currently I'm at +4 or 5 and the three of them have so much health they just dance around bosses constantly stealing aggro allowing me to unload on the boss.

If there's three of them, can't really call them "lone" now can you.

The Spirit Calling Bell is an auto-use item do you don’t have to manually use it. All you have to do is Use the Lone Wolf Ashes or any other Ashes that you may have. You can only summon Spirits when you are near enemies and a purple gravestone icon should appear on the left side of your screen.
- Anonymous
How do they get summoned? I see the symbol onthe left side of the screen but don't know how to call them using a controller...please advise

Can you summon these again if they die. It wont let me even though my FP bar is full????

I think the lone wolf is less in reference to the 3 wolf but moreso towards the player who doesnt want to coop
