Man, throwing down Terra Magica before firing this off really makes you feel like hunting the Flat Snark

Just think, if this were an ash of war, there'd be so many buffs for it. Spellblade Set, both shard talisman from Alexander.
- Anonymous
I can easily remove at least 1700 HP using the bow and terra magica, best spell in the game imo
- Anonymous
and yet, the actual bow that deals magic damage has utter ass int scaling

Fantastic tool for dragon fights. Ride your horse, zip around and smash that magic arrow into their skulls. This thing has so much range that you can be safe most of times when using this.
I feel like this spell should be a bit stronger. Even if fully chaged it does barely more damage than a fully chaged comet shard for 7 more fp. Hmm ..

Hopefully we get smaller magic bow version so we can be a Carian Magic Archer for MY Wife Ranni.

This was invented by greirat's mother and you CANNOT convince me otherwise

This spell is just perfection to me. The visuals and the audio make it feel absolutely amazing to use. The tracking, range and damage are on point, and balanced by its very long wind-up. This is how ranged magic should work.
Pair with Terra Magica and Godfrey Icon to deal big damage as your opener and one-shot all normal trash mobs.

Rock sling has better range, the arrow despawns sooner, however you have to be locked of for rocks slings homing effect, but it also has an AOE, felt I should mention how underrated it is as a longer range homing missiles spell.
tip, keep spamming lock on while free aiming, you'll be surprised how far you can lock on.

Real question is does it have more range than the sniper lobster?

The visual and sound design on this spell is perfection. Aesthetically one of the coolest spells in the game

Loretta's Greatbow is comparable to Comet. Both have similar damage and MP cost, but each has upsides over the other:
- Loretta's Greatbow has half the intellgence requirement compared to Comet, and has the most extreme maximum range of any sorcery.
- Comet has much, much shorter windup speed than Loretta's Greatbow (especially if charged), and can be cast repeatedly until your MP bar empties.

Does Radagons Icon help with casting and charge time? I've used it with and without the icon but I don't think it makes a big difference if at all

It's not mentioned but I think Loretta's is boosted by Carian Glinstone Staff. Tested on Meotorite Staff(173 Sorc Scaling) and Glinstone Staff +12 (163 Sorc scaling) to compare. Attributes at 32Int 20Str. Bow did 299 damage with Meteorite but 350 with Glinstone Staff a little more than the 15% boost staff advertises for glinstone sorceries.
Maybe you Smarty Charlies on here can point out an X Factor skewing the results here but it makes sense Glinstone Staff would affect Loretta's - it's very "Carian-esque" in appearance comparing to greatsword, piercer, slicer.

a sorcery with incredibly long range is a remarkably rare thing in soulslike games, but it's limited by lock-on range since free-aim is basically impossible. Save it for bossfights, probably.

Would be amazing if you could aim with it like you can a bow, but alas.

Does Loretta’s Greatbow deal magic damage? I can’t seem to find this information anywhere
- Anonymous
All things of it’s effectiveness aside - I love that they made a Carian spell for archery and not just swords. It really fits the knight archetype.

When people think of sorcery cheese people always refer to Comet Azur and Stars of Ruin etc., but you know what's the biggest cheese of them all? This spell right here. Seriously, this spell literally makes certain dungeons a cakewalk. Need something to die from afar? Terra Magica+Greatbow. You can literally meme through Farum Azula with this spell by standing near edges and sniping things from a mile away and they won't ever pathfind towards you because you're so far away from them. 10/10 one of the most applicable spells ever.
- Anonymous
Such an amazing spell, and my favourite one I've tried so far. Can snipe stuff from miles away, and does great damage while doing so

How viable is this spell with minimal intelligence stat investment? I’ve been thinking about adding this to my Quickstep Rogue build I’ve got 40 Mind.

!TRADE OFFER!
You get 3 burred bolts and half your health lost.
I get a squishy target standing still to cast a spell that does mediocre damage and is easy to dodge.
Dont use spells like this in pvp unless your ganking. Seriously.
- Anonymous
A good spell to one shot those freaking giant ants from afar before your phobia get triggered.
- Anonymous
Is it me or does this spell manage to hit nearly everything in the way of the target? Railing? Tagged. Rock slightly in the way? Tagged. Tree branch? Destroyed. Target is still standing there oblivious...
- Anonymous
So much damage while completely out of detection range for most enemies. Felt like skyrim sneaking sniping taking out mobs one by one as they walk over to check why their buddy just keeled over.
- Anonymous
very good on horseback, on the ground not so much unless you have set up time.
- Anonymous
Jellyfish Shield's buff works with this spell, granting a 20% buff for 30 seconds for only 9 FP.
Does this spell get a damage boost from one of the staffs?
From my quick testing i couldn't find one that worked

Amazing Spell! My Favorite Spell in the Game:
1. Incredible Range and Accuracy
2. Massive Damage when Fully Charged with my Setup.
3. Great from Horseback or High Ground. Picking enemies and bosses off from afar.
4. Fantastic when having Phantom or Summon backup.
5. Works Best with This Setup:
Terra Magicus + Magic Scorpion + Ritual Sword + Godfrey Icon + Sorcery Buff Talisman: NUKE CRUISE MISSLE - launched from a gigantic azure bow : Easily the single most cool looking spell in the game to boot.
When close range, add Great Glintstone Phalanx to provide cover and stagger.

Long charge time, but range surpassing almost all other sorcery options and some pretty good damage. But, more importantly, it is FUN.
- Anonymous
This spell IS affected by the Arrow's Sting and Arrow's Reach Talismans
- Anonymous
Do arrow talismans work with this?
Also, I dont like that its possible to roll out of charged version of it, but not on uncharged one.
- Anonymous
Not optimal, but very handy to have in your line up once you've got an abundance of spell slots.
- Anonymous
Saw that they reduced the FP cost but it seems like it doesn't quite have the range that it did. At least not shooting the birb across the canyon. Had no problem hitting it before the patch but now that tree is a menace. Normal Greatbow arrows, it seems, will completely ignore the tree's existence and hit the birb.
- Anonymous
The charge time is understandable, but the slight delay upon release is inexcusable. Once it is charged up, firing it should be INSTANT.
- Anonymous
Not even a bad spell. Charged attack hits hard, shoots like a laser and is super long range so you use it as an opening attack on enemies that's outside the range of rock sling
- Anonymous
This spell, after some testing, has a 75% chance to crash my game the instant I press L1 to cast it
- Anonymous
Dayum if this isn't one of the coolest spells in any From game

this spell surprisingly provides a cheesy win for any open-space field bosses: riding a horse, finding a safe spot where the boss slowly approaching you since you don't have the aggro, shoot the charged bow, run as far away as you can to deaggro, repeat and rinse until the boss health bar is depleted, its a slow process and requires lots of fp (10+ flasks recommended for any mid-late field bosses) tho.
At late game when fp is no longer an issue, its actually a surprisingly good spell because of its insane range: you can get access of sniper area that is really safe for the annoying dangerous minions compared with pebble or rock slings. After using this spell, I feel like this game (dungeon exploration part) has become a position plotting/puzzle solving game where the puzzle is to find the best position to slay the enemies.
Some bad thing about this bow is its large projectile: if the shooting angle is too large, it can easily hit the ground you are standing even though visually speaking the spell shall hit the target surely. In that situation please use pebble if possible.
- Anonymous
Some people complaining about it being slow and it’s true to an extent. You can’t get it off in every encounter but as a starter from REALLY FAR it hits good. Also I’ve managed to get it off in the middle of battles with bosses and mobs if you can figure out how to give yourself enough space to fire it. Really enjoyed using it so far

it's a cool spell but has the problem of most spells: terrible efficiency. it costs 26 FP (fully charging increases damage but costs the same). 3 casts of glintstone pebble does more damage, and 4 casts only costs 2 more FP but deals over 100 more damage.
good spell for an initial pull to aggro a boss or enemy, but really hard to pull off once combat has started (unless you have summons or spirits for distraction), especially fully charging it.
kind of a bummer that the poor efficiency and cast time aren't offset by great damage, but that's pretty par for the course as far as spells go unfortunately.

The go to when you want to just annihilate a for from far away, good damage even uncharged, and fantastic range, really can’t go wrong with this. A must have

I use this spell all the time. It's fun and cool, has fantastic range, decent tracking, and high damage for PVE. It's also exceptional for PVP because not only is it the only spell I know of that you can hold indefinitely (except I assume the quadruple version), but you can cancel it without spending FP by rolling once it's max charge. This means you can put pressure on an invader and force them on the defensive because if they try and attack someone you let it fly and catch them mid animation. If they retreat out of LOS you just cancel it. The explosion can even roll catch sometimes. Usually most invaders leave once they realize that this is happening because honestly there isn't a whole lot they can do if it's a large space.

Unfortunately, an extremely niche spell. The damage/FP cost is horrendous. It's one saving grace is that MASSIVE range, giving it one niche as an opener/sniper. The slow casting time for both charged and uncharged versions make it unusable in most boss fights. Even horseback archery is not ideal as you cannot move at speed while charging. If you can use this to snipe at enemies or bosses in locations where the cannot hit you, then you've got a use for it. In order for this to be more generally useful, it needs more versatility. The ideal would be for something that can fire quickly when uncharged with the option for charging, preferably with variable FP cost as well. As it stands it cannot replace a useful fast casting ranged spell like the humble but powerful Glinstone Pebble or the slower but just as potent Glintstone Blade.

This spell get more benfits from godrick talisman rather than sorcery related talismans.

The cast time is a bit excessively long, and you CANNOT move for the final stage of cast or at all during the actual firing. The damage doesn't seem to really outweigh the cast time, but it does seem to very reliably trigger stance/guard breaking, but not for critical hits. Not sure what the range on it is in comparison to Glintstone Pebble, though it is definitely deals more damage than it. It'll definitely have its use on enemies who turtle or possibly for long-range shots if it outranges Glintstone Pebble like Magic Glintblade does.
Quick update since I did a bit of testing in the Lower Manor Grace in Caria Manor - Loretta's Greatbow does in fact outrange Magic Glintblade & Glintstone Pebble. Tested by standing directly next to the candlestick beside the altar and firing at the doorway to the spectral Cuckoo Knights. Each spell will make an impact effect when it collides with a surface, breakable or not, represented by a sort of "star shatter" effect. In these testing sessions, neither Pebble (very clearly did not make it) nor Glintblade (which I was not sure if it made it or not, so I test at the wall to the immediate left to see if there was a collision effect for it) were able to make it to the wall beside the doorway aiming directly forward. Loretta's Greatbow, uncharged, was as it had its impact effect. Unsure if charging will change the range (very unlikely) or the limits of its range, but it's definitely going to be an incredible opener tool since most enemies aggro radius doesn't properly begin with the range you get from Magic Glintblade.

Is the damage boosted on this from the Carian sword sorcery staff?
- Anonymous
Nice to have for the excess range alone, even if its not something you use every fight. But once you have 4+ spell slots I found this one pretty useful, looks cool too.
- Anonymous
My favorite spell along with rock sling and their good for long range kills. Deal 1100 on full charge, good for farming, boss killing on horseback, made the game like it's on easy mode.

Saw the "Loretta's Mastery" spell on youtube. Same spell but with four arrows. Can't find any info on the internet, does anyone know where and how should I get it?
Damage can't compete with Magic Glintblade. Testing with Meteorite Staff (173 Sorc scaling) on Erdtree Avatar in Liurnia 476 dmg with a full charge of Loretta's Greatbow. A fully charged Glintblade did 230 dmg, cast twice in a shorter amount of time for 460 dmg, for 8 fewer FP.
The only reason I would use this is if something is out of range of Glintblade, which doesn't happen very often at all.

When uncharged, slightly less efficient than Cometshard but more efficient than Comet in damage/FP. When charged, is more efficient than both Comet and Cometshard based on damage/FP. When uncharged, does more damage than uncharged Cometshard, charged Cometshard, and uncharged Comet. When charged, does more damage than both Comet and Cometshard. Tested with Meteorite and 60 INT.

Okay damage, can be charged but only for openers as it takes forever to fire.

I noticed lorettas Mastery has more range then
the greatbow so its better suited for dragon hunt etc in overland on horseback.
