Fires four great arrows from a magic greatbow at once
Requires |
Loretta's Mastery is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Loretta's Mastery spell, unlike the Loretta's Greatbow that shoots one arrow from a magic greatbow, this Sorcery fires four great arrows at once. Updated to Patch 1.07.
Sorcery used by Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree.
Creates a magic greatbow and fires four great arrows simultaneously.
Charging enhances potency. Hold to keep the great arrows nocked.
Developed by Loretta after her long, bloody journey to seek out a place where the Albinaurics could live in peace.

Elden Ring Loretta's Mastery Guide
- Carian Sorcery
- Stamina Cost: 33
- Deals 1.08 * Sorcery Scaling of Magic Damage and 5 Stance damage, per projectile.
- If all 4 projectiles hit, this amounts to 25 Stance damage in total.
- If all 4 projectiles hit, this amounts to 25 Stance damage in total.
- Can be used while mounted.
- When shooting at locked-on enemies or body parts close to the ground, the lower arrow generated has a tendency to hit the ground, reducing the potential damage output. It is recommended to either aim at a body part located higher up, or shoot from a higher elevation such as on horseback.
- Alternatively, once could manually aim the spell, but due how the projectiles spread and arc at first, to then converge at the point of impact, it becomes hard to accurately judge the correct angle.
- When being casted, the user cannot move, cancel the spell, or perform any other action until the arrows are released, or the spell has finished charging. Once fully charged, the caster can opt to either release the arrows, or cancel the spell into a roll.
- From the moment its casted until the arrows are released, at max cast speed, it takes 3 seconds until the user can perform another action.
- NOTE: Since Patch 1.07 FP Consumption has been Decreased from 43 to 39.
Elden Ring Loretta's Mastery Notes & Tips
- This spell cannot be boosted by Arrow's Sting Talisman
- Charging the spell takes approximately 1.5 seconds. The user can interrupt the charging early and release the arrows if needed.
- The spell does not receive bonus damage from partially charging it. Only completely charging it will boost its damage.
- The moment the spell is fully charged, a small blue flash accompanied by a sharp sound will be emitted from the tip of the bow.
- When fully charged, this spell is affected by Godfrey Icon.
- If fully charged, deals 1.27 * Sorcery Scaling of Magic Damage and 9.25 Stance damage, per projectile.
- If all 4 projectiles hit, this amounts to 37 Stance damage in total.
- If all 4 projectiles hit, this amounts to 37 Stance damage in total.
- Has noticeably longer range than Loretta's Greatbow.
- This might make it the spell with the longest range in the entire game.

Fixing 4 arrow to not hit ground: NOOOOO
Nerf some owerpowered spells: YES YES YES
Typical From thinking

While adjusting the fourth arrow to be less prone to hitting the ground would be great and deserved, this is still an upgrade over Loretta's Greatbow just because of the extra range. With this spell you risk wasting 25% of your damage potential if you're not careful with the terrain, Greatbow on the other hand risks wasting 100% of its damage potential because its range is lesser than the lock-on range. Due to Greatbow's long wind up meaning that it only makes sense to use it at long ranges where other hard hitting spells like Comet can't reach, this is an issue you'll often encounter. If you can lock on an enemy, you can be sure that Mastery will hit it. With Greatbow that is not the case, there's always that bit of range towards the end where it will disappear, resulting in wasted FP.
If Fromsoft is too lazy to fix the collision boxes, they should just lower the FP cost by about 5 points and call it a day. It just needs a little something extra to make it really shine.

Not seeing any benefit over using this in PVP rather than just the basic, if all the arrows were able to damage rather than blowing back everytime one hits and losing all damage from the other 3 it just seems useless. For PVE babies, have fun but for pvp stick to basic
This spell is an amazing tool in the open world sections of Elden Ring. A shame you obtain it so late into the game.
You encountered a pack of troublesome enemies? Just snipe them from afar with this. They probably won't even be able to reach you.
A very powerful enemy can be seen from a distance? Open up the battle by softening them with this spell.
With how stupidly long the range of this spell is, I'm surprised everybody talks about its downsides like a complete dealbreaker... When you could just use it when the relevant situation comes up. Oh well.

Great oracular bubble with arrow sting talisman still outdamage and outrange this

I don't know about you, but when I fire four arrows instead of 1 I expect more than a 50% more damage if all four arrows hit. Especially if I pay 50% more in costs in the first place

2024, still no fix to the last arrow hitting the floor. After the summonable horse during the elden beast I hoped they'd learnt the lesson.

The insane tracking and range make this spell exceptionally good at fighting putrescent knight. Just let your summon or sun bros draw the aggro and shoot his ass.
- Anonymous
The direction of the arrows does usually make one or two of them crash into something which sucks, but using Terra Magica with this gives you a sniping spell that allows you to kill big enemies in safety. Spell serves me well when the conditions are right for NG+7.

Costs much more fp, deals a tiny bit more damage, has a MUCH higher chance to hit an obstacle or just the floor, which leads to it dealing less damage. I dont get whats the point... I guess it looks cool even if its never worth it

NOTE: The way it works is that you face (left or right) on your screen. Cast and hold Loretta's Mastery. Then toggle on to the enemy as you fire. Now you can never complain about those four arrows not hitting. Right?

loretta's greatbow seems to deal more damage than this but this is infinitely cooler

Can't believe they still haven't fixed the fourth arrow after 2 years.

Use this with Terra Magica when bosses get out of your normal range. Fire Giant rolling, dragons flying, Elden Beast swimming. Finding a vantage point to shoot is fun and good for the overworld too.
- Anonymous
LM seems to have better range that LGB. You can hit the Giant Crow from right next to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road. Plus, if you fully charge the shot, it almost invariably aggros the bird so that it runs of the cliff. No need for casters to waste arrows or wait and line up the shot with LGB. Much easier with LM.

Carian glintblade + Loretta's mastery turned away from opponent and locked on hits so often
- Anonymous
Starting off a colosseum match with this is a great way to easily deal 500+ damage. Turn around, wait for the arrows to start charging, target lock, and fire when they are fully charged. The arrows have crazy good tracking, so while your opponent stands there not knowing what you just did (looks like you missed), there's a decent chance they won't notice several magical bolts flying in from the side.
- Anonymous
Still stumped over why those four arrows aren't connecting, hmm? Try aiming 45 degrees unlocked.
- Anonymous
uncharged shot will hit almost everytime with all 4 arrows, but the damage is a far cry from the charged single shot of normal loretta greatbow. They should really fix the 4th arrow, it hits the ground too much costantly to make this usable.
- Anonymous
can we please get a fix for the fourth arrow hitting the ground? It's such a delusion when you find out it's a worse version of the basic greatbow sorcery.
- Anonymous
To everyone saying "it's meant to be used from horseback" regarding the fact that the lowest arrow often hits the ground otherwise, you're wrong. It's just that the developers never considered that the sorcery wouldn't work as intended if you are not on horseback and simply copy and pasted the one the boss uses without ever bothering to fix it.

what can i do to get more damage? i have 60 int and alexander's shard on
- Anonymous
Due to the way flat defense interacts with multi-projectile it's good to use this with spell boosting talismans+Terra magicka, stacking these will result in a significantly higher damage boost then one would expect off of the individual boosts separately. The long range of this spell also synergizes with such a offensive setup due to the distance protecting you from retaliation.
- Anonymous
I do 1276 with LGB and 1744 with LM, much better than the 22% listed here. I believe the spell scales with higher stats, other than just sorcery scaling or something. Everyone's damage increase seems to be different. BTW I made sure the enemy was already aggro'd and made sure all shots were center mass with both spells, and used the same setup, so the results were accurate.
- Anonymous
Considering the chamges to comet, this thing is in dire need of a similar damage buff. Otherwise it will simple remain an obsolete long range version of comet.
- Anonymous
The best niche use for this would be to hunt dragons. The damage is just ok compared to spells like Shard Spiral, but the poise dmg is bonkers. 3 full charged shots to the head and it will stagger, which is pretty easy against slow dragons that aren't Adula or those speed freak lightning dragons.

Dont want to be that guy, but there are 2 "unless"s in notes and trivia.

with the proper invasion setup, you can one-shot pretty much anyone. best invasion spots that i've found:
the farum azula area right after godskin duo all the way to the great bridge is the absolute best place in the game to snipe people. so much open space and verticality. there are dozens of sneaky sniping spots and huge, open gauntlets that hosts have to run through.
miquella's haligtree canopy. wide open space, plenty of spots to shoot from. there's one spot on a ledge that requires a jump over the void to get to that covers pretty much the whole area.
leyndell is amazing if you can get on the rooftops.
any swamp area. the area after the big underground rot lake is pretty fun.
caves are actually kinda nutty. most of them have an open area with a ledge up top to snipe from. you can also catch hosts off guard around a corner.
any place with a ladder is also good.
camping elevators is kinda viable. make sure ur the one on top tho.
some tips:
make sure to aim away from people as it's harder to dodge that way (and the arrow tracking looks cool)
use godfrey icon to increase damage of fully charged arrows.
charge your arrows just over the edge of a platform to ensure that all four arrows hit.
cosplay as sellen for maximum fashion souls.
RL 125, 15 Vigor, 99 Int, around an 80% invasion win rate, and 100% fun

paired with Godfrey's icon, this is easily one of the strongest long-range spells when fully charged, actually the best for sniping enemies in the open world.
fun fact: you can even use it to farm the big bird near Mohgwyn's first site of grace with all the albinaurics sitting around.
one hit to lure the bird near the tree, then another to lure it down the abyss.
it's probably even faster than farming all albinaurics, since all you need to do is take two steps back to the site of grace in order to make it respawn.

The uncharged cast has a sort of hidden advantage over the charged in that the arrows start to converge slightly sooner. This means that they are less likely to hit walls than the charged shot. 4 uncharged hits are stronger than 3 charged. the difference isn't very big though, I only noticed it in the sewers beneath the capital while trying to kill the giant poison plants.
- Anonymous
You would think they do 4x the damage of Loretta's greatbow, but it's not even 2x of that. They should buff the individual arrows damage and maybe increase the fp cost.
- Anonymous
The firing angles of the four arrows this spell flings make this spell ineffective at close range. You will also want to be mounted on Torrent or standing on a pile of something, as firing Loretta's Mastery from flat ground is guaranteed to make one or two of the arrows crash into the floor and do nothing.

Wish it was kinda like Dragon spells where you can use this while jumping, especially since Loretta can do it.

I think it has higher range than Loretta's bow, can someone confirm?

this spell is probably meant for horse combat in PVE, but it's stupid fun in PVP too when used properly.
it doesn't always work since it requires good positioning and tactics, but when it does, it's hilarious watching invaders getting blown away.

I thought it was cool when Loretta leaped into the air and used this spell.

I got oneshot (4 shot?) by this in a duel. The guy turned around and shot this off behind him to start things off, I thought he was just messing around. Offscreen the arrows all somehow turned around and tracked me. Well played but goddamn that's broken.

Prefer the more basic version of this spell. Costs more and does not seem to hit that much harder, and the one of the projectiles almost always hits the ground before reaching the target.
One of the Best Spells in the Game if not The Best marred and flawed badly by the trajectory of it's projectiles, specifically the lower one.
It should be an EASY FIX to just alter the lower Arrows trajectories and make the bow aim slightly higher in an arc to prevent every colliding with the floor.
This spell is still amazing on Horseback, on high ground, on edges or railings or cliffsides, when aiming at high points - and whenever a boss or enemy is flying or jumping high in the air.
Damage needs slight buff over it's predecessor Loretta Greatbow.
Other than that both Loretta Spells are FANTASTIC my favorite spells in the game, highly underrated and go-to spells for exploration, bosses, coop, pvp, pve and sniping and taking out tough enemies and bosses of all kind.
I hope we get more Loretta spells in the future, and I hope Loretta War Sickle will BUFF Loretta Sorceries with a Patch - or at least we will get a Staff or Arm Piece that does that.

Using this effectively is all about positioning. Pop terra magius, do your buffs and then go to town. This is an ideal spell for opening a fight, not for mobs charging at you, or jumpy bosses like maliketh. Tanky targets im dangerous areas like the dragons at farum azula or even the accursed storm hawks that would otherwise shred you are great targets for this spell.
In pvp if you ambush someone with a charged cast its usually a one hit kill. I would not recommend it for general pvp use though.

Really good spell if you like shooting half of the damage directly into the floor.
It's worth noting this spell has huge range, just like Loretta's Greatbow. With its spread, however, it's best utilized as a sniping tool ( preferably from horseback or different elevation ), as it evens out with distance. Or for spacing, since you can aim at the ground with it. If your camera is centered on the ground about at least 2 meters away and you angle it slightly to your right ( enemy's left ), you can get some really cheeky roll catches.

Loretta's Mastery has (afaik) the longest range of any spell, even farther than Loretta's Greatbow. It's nice for picking off enemies from a great distance.

Adding onto my previous comment on how it’s meant to be used on horseback, it does do more damage, but is it worth the fp? It costs 1.5x more than Loretta’s Greatbow, so it should do 1.5x more damage, right? It seems to. I did testing on the Caravan Trolls outside of Sellen’s shop. Loretta’s Greatbow damage consistently did 966 damage, sometimes 1k-1.2k depending on how high up the arrow high(troll hitboxes). Loretta’s Mastery did 1,510 damage extremely consistently with two cases of it doing more and less damage. One time an arrow missed and it did roughly 1200 damage. Another time I somehow got 1900 damage and I was shooting the chest, not the head of the troll.
So? 1,510 divided by 966 is a 1.56x multiplier roughly. I’m using Azur’s Glinstone Staff +9 and I have 75 intelligence and 22 Strength. This spell is definitely worth it on horseback against dragons and similar horseback bosses if you want to save time. 1.53x Cost for 1.56x damage ROUGHLY. More testing can be done by others. Remember, this spell is meant to be used on horseback, not on the ground, roleplay as Loretta for all I care if if helps justify it lol
- Anonymous
For those who don’t understand why the arrows hit the ground, I understand why now. It’s because it’s meant to be used while on horseback, just like Loretta. After testing this with a few dragons and night’s cavalry, I have to say it’s pretty reliable and looks damn cool. Greatbow for general use but this is definitely fun for horseback, even if the damage change isn’t noticeable considering it’s 4x as many arrows. Still not the best of an “upgrade” spell.
- Anonymous
really bad damage for the cost and yeah greatbow is just better since the increased damage from this spell (like 20% higher?) is usually not enough to oneshot mobs greatbow can't oneshot anyway so you'd better off firing two greatbow instead for 100% dmg increase for 13 fp more.
- Anonymous
Way too expensive for the comparatively meagre damage it does, and the 4th shot always hitting the bottom is an even bigger waste. Loretta's Greatbow is much better than this supposed "mastery". It maybe be useful in PvP, but in PvE it's extremely situational. Better to switch to another sorcery that does more damage for lesser FP, like Comet, or Magma Shot or anything else.
Would have been better if you could fire 1/4 of the arrows, individually.
Holding L1 and tapping L2 to fire, releasing L1 to fire all arrows or however many were remaining

is this ability bugged??? i was hitting 900 damage when 3/4 arrows connected on a fully charge shot, whereas loretta's greatbow was hitting for 1300 on a fully charged shot...

I have no idea what all these people are talking about. It’s a good spell with great tracking, and if you actually take the time to learn it the arrows almost never hit the ground. It’s saved my ass multiple times. Even if the damage isn’t much better than Comet, it can hit more reliably at long range (which this spell is obviously meant for) and has more chances to hit than the base version.
- Anonymous
Costs 1.5x the FP of Loretta's Greatbow but doesn't do 1.5x the damage. Also had a huge problem with the bottom arrow constantly hitting the ground unless im firing up or from a ledge and that will cut your damage by 1/4th. If you are only gonna fire once then sure take this but if you're using the greatbow for the sniping then you are much better off sticking with the other version. This is after the sorcery buffs ^

Deals inferior damage to Lorettas greatbow while standing on flat ground and aiming at an enemy on the same plane. Very poorly executed for a spell that i would expect to be an upgrade for such an egregious fp cost increase. Possibly a pvp spell

Disregarding that one arrow that always drops and hits the floor, I think this spell is definitely more of the PvP side. 3 arrows with homing with good damage at super far range and due to the angle will land at different times makes it a good far range attack with a mix up of roll timings. Naturally you need the FP to make this work well.
- Anonymous
They could have easily made this shoot slightly upwards instead of at level so all arrows would hit the target.

As a player in NG+ I don't really see what the people here are on about. Against the Regal Ancestor this thing consistently hit for 2k+ dmg with a +9 Lusat's Staff + Terra Magicus. Yes, it takes ages to charge up, but the damage scales accordingly. Don't forget that you can charge this spell to increase the damage.
I really don't enjoy being negative but like the majority of other spells this spell is just not good. If you and your target are on the same elevation, the very bottom arrow will hit the ground in front of you and only three will hit. They also fly at the same 45ish degrees as the animation so there's a good chance that the 4th arrow will hit whatever a higher elevation target is standing on. This means the normal bow spell does more damage. There's like 70 sorcery spells and 60+ of them are just garbage and never used.
- Anonymous
honestly in ng+ cycles where FP is less of an issue this can be pretty good when you absolutely need burst on horseback/at long range; aiming for the heads of dragons can be absolutely devastating with talismans/terra magicus/flask, as an example
aside from that or really niche uses i can't see too much purpose to it, though
- Anonymous
Generally pretty bad. If you're standing on a flat plane it's extremely likely that one of the four arrows will strike the ground, and possible for the others to hit terrain since they don't fly a straight path. By the time you can get this, overworld horseback battles aren't really a thing anymore, so the utility is queistionable.
- Anonymous
Damage should be buffed. Slow af and damage is barely better than base version and Comet, especially considering the damage dealt. Really cool when used against dragons though.
- Anonymous
I played magic because of this skill since the trailer, after finally finding it and using it , I am switching to STR build it is not worth the effort at all instead of doing like 400 damage like the single version it does 450 WOW 50 more damage for triple the mana cost and longer casting and even finding and also needs to find a hidden area with some of the most annoying enemies in the game to finally get this trash.
Magic is balanced in this game that's great but it doesn't have to be the weakest Dex has bleeds , STR have staggers , magic/Faith should be the highest damage and not while using a stand still skill with 4 slots and needs a buff to make a full build.

It's sad how much of a joke most spells are. Since it fires 4 arrows you would expect it to do a lot more damage than the single arrow version, but it does very little extra damage while costing a lot more mana. I'm disappointed at how most sorceries are so gorgeus yet so useless.
Can be found after defeating Loretta in her appearance at the Haligtree.
Face away from target, charge spell, lock on, release. The arrows will do a huge round arc into the air before all hitting the target. Can throw people off in PVP
