Where to find Magic Downpour
Where to find Magic Downpour:
- Dropped by Preceptor Miriam in the Carian Study Hall. Elden Ring Interactive Map Link.
Elden Ring Magic Downpour Guide
- Carian Sorcery
- Stamina Cost: 17
- Deals magic damage
- This spell is boosted by the Carian Glintblade Staff
- Contrary to other similar spells, Magic Downpour actually can be aimed at a specific target when casting, as opposed to targeting a single pre-set area. This makes it particularly useful against large enemies who can be hit repeatedly by the spell.
- Charging the spell increases the duration of the spell, allowing you to overlap multiple casts on top of each other to further increase damage

Fun fact: This spell DOES track. Notice how when you cast it, it turns to face the closest enemy from it? From my observations, it's usually only one streak of the downpour that tracks in the general direction of whatever the spell is aiming at. I think it's intentionally designed like this else the bullets would be way too randomized to hit anything. Normally I would say that this spell is kind of lackluster. However, the only saving grace with this spell is that the bullets actually flinches a lot of things, making it a great spell to use closely on bosses like Malenia (especially in co-op since it can interrupt her) where she is very prone to getting staggered.

Can you still get it after you killed Miriam at the inverted study hall?

Very good with high intelligence and has a lot of utility. Mainly use it for burst damage to get off other spells or a cover fire for a flask. Cast it with Lusat’s and watch it melt enemies. I really recommend revisiting this sorcery bc it was indeed garbage at lower levels.

So if this is a carian sorcery that isn’t buffed by either carian staff, but it is detailed to be taught by crystalians, is it buffed by the crystal staff?
first glitch about this spell? anyone herlp me with this please.. I didn't start NG+ cause my OC collector complex got right back at me and i started looking for things i missed, but the fact is.. i beat Miriam long ago and i don't find this spell nowhere on myself.. just to be sure i even got back to the tower couple of times and reloaded areas but no sings of her and the drop is forever lost(?)
Fixable with going in NG+ i know.. but

Probably my favorite spell, not useful in every scenario, but helps a lot against certain ennemies, especially medium to large size one.

At high levels of int, far, far more FP efficient than glintstone pebble for its damage, and will reliably always deal damage.

I can’t use it but i have everything required like faith is at 20
Didn't drop for me. Just killed Miriam in the inverted study hall and all I got wasa gesture that dropped from her.

just some question, can test it since i'm not home for 5 days onward, 1st this spell is chargeable right, which mean godfrey's talisman should've work and add 15% more duration + old lord's talisman which add 30% more duration, well can someone do the test for me, thank y'all

Very viable against Crucible Knights who use shields and the mad pumkin heads, it doesn't get blocked by the pumkin like almost every other sorcery, and it almost stunlocks shield crucible knights, meaning its much easier than most other magics against them. Also been using it to kill Nightriders to medium effect, they're still scary but this allows me to kite them while having better fp-to-dps ratio than Glintblade Phalanx by far. Still experimenting, but mainly using it on enemies that don't give me enough time to spam my other spells so I just spam these at full-charge

Works very well on large bosses. I can melt dragons in no time with this, but you need to get really close for it to be effective.

This is listed as "Glintstone" in the Sorcery list. But here it's listed as Carian. It does carry the Carian sigil so why is it listed as Glintstone in the list?

Surprising very good against (large) bosses. Especially if you ride Torrent. The Orb casts from higher up, and it is literally a beautiful sky full of magic stars floating to hit large bosses. No as bad as past versions.

This spell is *almost* really good but not enough of the projectiles will land to be worth the FP cost. Yes you can spam several of these and get solid dps but it is not efficient FP wise and smart players will simply walk away from it.

"Said to have been taught by the Crystalians to mark the swearing
of the old concord" of course, the worst enemy teaching the worst npc

Where Miriam uses it. It constantly hits you, but when I use it... it can't hit the backside of a barn.

For anyone having trouble killing the boss to get it to drop. Run past him when he first spawns to kill all of the specters ahead of time before he teleports then go back and defeat him.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but on Dragonlord Placidusax, I spammed Magic Downpour and it seemed like his AI broke and he just stood there until he died. His poise didn't appear to be broken nor did he move when hit. Either way, this ability is very powerful against larger enemies.

It's okay, decent in PvP for keeping scared opponents away, wont do much when someone tanky doesn't care and runs in to beat you up anyways. Only cast this if you're confident they wont punish you.

This may be missable, I I verted the tower first and got lucidity.

You get this from the invader in the study hall here https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/interactive+map?id=1516&lat=-141.570312&lng=81.219718&zoom=8
this spell is great vs big bosses whose attack frequency amps up as their hp drops. it casts quickly, tracks, does solid damage, and adds a substantial amount to your dps even when youre dodging and healing. was very clutch vs placidusax and elden beast. crystal release wishes it was this useful
