1.Defeat Queen First. 2.Magma Wyrm. 3.Radhan. 4.Go get The Fancy Starlight Shard north through the crevace north of Altus highway. Go to Dung Eater, progress until chair. Go to 3 sisters. Find secret room. Talk to Ranni, run up and down the stairs. Go to Selluvis. Get potion, give to dung eater. Go back to Sellevus, buy puppets, reload area, buy puppets, hand in quests. Get du g eater and scorpion Charm in one play through. Do on ng+ for fastest results.
DO NOT GET FINGER SLAYER BLADE at any point during the this. Don't even go down there.

The requirements to not miss this completely is absolute garbage. Can't believe they left this the way it is and didn't give us other options to get it. Stupid.

Started my 6th new character. Swore to myself I wouldn't accidently skip this again... and I forgot. Now I've done ~7 playthroughs without getting this damn talisman. I need to level intelligence IRL.

I don't understand why it was nerfed in pvp, it's not like players are more stupid than mobs and more easily hit. I mean compared walking with Crimson Amber Talisman - with this talisman you would get 18% less health and 12% more damage, it was very balanced imo.

            • Anonymous

I hate this so much, this is literally one of the few items in this game that channels dark souls 1's shitty quests that you had to walk on egg shells to do.

Gotta love the feeling of realizing you locked yourself out of the one charm you don't have on your third play-through because you hadn't played in a couple months and progressed Ranni's questline without thinking about it.

anyone have a spare magic scorpion charm?I locked myself out of the quest line by accident :( im playing on PC

Just like the other guy said
I think the talisman is good but you have to constantly eat crabs.

I wish scorpion charms werent that nerfed in pvp, maybe keep the 8% damage as it is, but the 15% more damage is too much

Wish they would have put the charm in Seluvis's puppet shop for the cost of the Amber Starlight. That way you could still get it after he dies, and he could make Ranni's potion after the trade.

If you play on PlayStation and have a spare one of these, I’ll trade an ancient dragon smithing stone for it. I somehow missed it on my first playthrough.

Compared to the other available options for boosting damage NONE of the scorpion charms are even close to being worth spending the talisman slot imo, especially in duels due to the whack PvP nerf. In a game where one/two-shots are basically the norm at high levels, unless you already have stupid high damage numbers (assuming INT 80, Lestat/Royal Carian Scepter + other buffs) the defense debuff is *very* seldom worth the small percent damage boost unless you're running full glass cannon/are a god at roll-timing and never get hit. Wish they could've at least kept the defense debuff the same for PvP instead of doubling it and making it next to worthless.

Kinda messed up that you need to help that arrogant jackass to get a talisman that's very useful for magic builds.

                            • Anonymous

I've missed this talisman on, like, 3 different playthroughs, I only realize this thing exists until the second I find Seluvis dead and I smash my hand through the table in frustration. Why did they make this one so difficult to get but the sacred one is handed to you basically for free.

magic is so OP 99% of players didnt even need this talisman to beat the game(easily). but crying fromsoft cheated them out of this item lmao

                                • Anonymous

Talk to Seluvis, go talk to him in its tower, give the potion to Nepheli or Dung eater. Alright until then it makes sense. But finding his hidden puppet store under an invisible floor, having to buy everything for him and then finding an item well hidden, having to search on all the god damn map, with absolutly NO HINT, and of course ALL OF THIS by not advancing Ranni's quest... Ranni's quest which has precise clues so it's way easier to advance it.... This is just stupid. There must be like 1 tiny % of players that could find that without looking at guides, and now that I want to do all the quests I just NEED to follow a precise walkthrough to not break a quest... Fromsoft your game is excellent on many points but your quest design is f*ucking dog sh*t!!

                                  • Anonymous

I don't know how any player could obtain this without looking it up online. I love Elden Ring, but if Fromsoft does another open world game, it needs to give more structure to npc quests.

FYI: for those who want to buff their sorceries, this will not. It boosts attack on magic enchanted armaments, but it does not scale sorceries. I learned the hard way.

                                      • So we can either side with hot girl that gives us sword and marries us, cool wolf and giant bro. Or....arrogant mage **** that insults us and kidnaps people for a sex dungeon.

                                        Hmmmmmmmmmmmm......

I missed this item cause for whatever reason Seluvis didn't advance after I found his puppet layer.

                                          What the ******!?!?!?!?!?

If I go back to the Church of Vows and repair the questline to get the talisman, will I have to repeat all of Ranni's quest?

This stacks with both the Graven-Mass and Graven-School talismans. Add in Terra Magica + Lusat's Staff + Godfrey Icon Talisman and you can do insane damage.

I messed up the quest by giving Ranni the finger slayer blade early. Could someone drop me one of these talismans? GMT time zone.

                                                  • Anonymous

Wait i can run this over stacking the grave talismans?!?! I didn't even know this existed and I already do insane damage on my pure INT build.

Progress locking this item is gigacringe. I'm honestly fine with items like bolt of gransax being progress locked but this is a mage build staple and you get locked out of it so early

                                                      • Anonymous

"Ok so I just got the fingerslayer blade, let's go back to Ranni's place and see about getting that talisman from Seluvis-"
Yeah, I was devastated that I forgot at the exact moment I couldn't undo it.

                                                        • God dammit, with my tendency of clearing previous areas before going to new ones I missed this talisman TWO TIMES. I even managed to finger dumb amber without guide and was super proud of myself before I found out he is dead again

                                                          • Anonymous

This amulet is not one, but the most difficult to obtain among all the amulets in the game.
Why, which is really annoying, and even unattainable, if you get beyond a certain point in history.
                                                            I hate it.
And I refrained from writing a lot of bad words.

so i assume if you use other magic incantation (like lightning or black flame) it wont buff their damage since it only buff "magic" type (glintsone, basically magic that use staf to use), right?

                                                                • Anonymous

Does not seems to affect sorceries, is it possible that "magic attack" means magic attack on any weapon, but not sorcery damage ?

                                                                  • Anonymous

This is one of the best talismans in the game for pure mage builds, and they locked it behind a super-easily-missed quest. No other scorpion charm talisman is miss-able wtf

                                                                    • Anonymous

I gave the potion to Gidion so I guess I missed this? That kinda sucks. He's dead now anyway because I gave Ranni the dagger...

                                                                      • Anonymous

Maybe a save bug (XB) somewhere in the questline. I got the talisman from Seluvis, gave Ranni the requested Nokron weapon and afterwards I freed Blaidd from his trap, the Forlon prison. Went out properly ("save game...leave") in the menue. Next day I started outside Raya Luc. where I fought Sellen with Jerren and all Ranni progress was gone. Didn`t realise it, so I went to Ranni, gave her die blade again. So she turned Seluvis into a puppet and I did not get my Scorpion charm....

                                                                        • Anonymous

Does this work for Ruins GS or Fallingstar Beast Jaw weapon arts? They're both High Strength/Small Int weapons and considering it's technically Gravity Magic for the Weapon Arts, I was curious if this would work for those? Same with the Graven Mass Talisman, does that also count towards those Weapon Arts?

                                                                          • Anonymous

Damn... So Seluvis is dead and i missed it , but worry not this is not that great of a Talisman honestly. ( It reduces all defences 10% , while giving 12% Magic damage ). The Graven-Mass is better since you dont get the Penalty , plus the Magic Shrouding Crystal Tear on Mix Physique is a relative better pick... The Mixed Magic Shroud Tear gives you 20% Magic Attacks which is better , and Graven Mass gives also 8% Magic Damage without no Penalties... Even the Ritual Sword Talisman is better than this Magic Scorpion Talisman... You could also grab it on NG+ if ya want it that much which to me is not worth it , the Radagon's Soreseal or Marika's Soreseal are also better than this honestly.... So its nothing that special lol

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

If anyone could drop me one im on ps4 #SomeCrazyThing id be super grateful. Ill help you get something like a copy of a legendary weapon or something you may be locked out of for whatever reason. Just let me know.

Here's what you need to do:

                                                                                  11. Talk to him about his scheme and get the amber starlight, he'll give you the talisman once you give him the amber starlight.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

You dont have to get the blade. You just have to start Ranni's questline to meet Seluvis. Then, just do Seluvis's and Nepheli's (Ofnir also) storyline, give potion to Ofnir, show interest to Seluvis, buy both puppets, get Amber Starlight, give Amber Starlight to Seluvis, get talisman. :D Took me 3 playthroughs to get it right.

                                                                                    • I really find it odd that they made this specific talisman only be found as a reward from a specific, missable questline, while the fire, lightning, and holy versions are basically just random world loot. Maaaaaybe it's because of how frequent magic damage is in this game, but even then it still feels weird

                                                                                      • Anonymous

So I managed to successfully get this talisman and complete Ranni’s quest line without requiring Celestial Dew to reset any NPC aggro at the church of vows.

Basically these are the steps I followed, some may be able to be skipped but if you want to be thorough then I suggest following along.

                                                                                        1. Met Blaidd at Mistwood Ruins by using the finger snap
                                                                                        2. Killed Bloodhound Knight at Forlorn Hound Evergaol and talked to Blaidd afterwards
                                                                                        3. Completed Carina Manor and started Ranni’s quest line by speaking to her, Seluvis, Iji and Blaidd.
                                                                                        4. Met with Blaidd in the Siofra River
                                                                                        5. Talked to Seluvis and got the potion to give to Nepheli.
                                                                                        6. Took the potion to Gideon and had him pour it out, could have given to Nepheli but I also wanted to see the new changes to her quest line on this playthrough.
                                                                                        6. Returned to Seluvis and got the introduction to Sellens.
                                                                                        6. Met with Sellens
                                                                                        7. Returned to Ranni’s tower, opened Seluvis underground puppet room and confronted him about it.
                                                                                        8. Took the Jarwight puppet from Seluvis (this one costs 3 starlight shards to buy otherwise).
                                                                                        9. Bought out the rest of his inventory for spells and then bought another puppet from him. After buying the puppet he will let you in on a scheme to make Ranni into a puppet and ask you to retrieve the Amber Starlight.
                                                                                        10. I retrieved the amber starlight from Altus Plateau and returned it to him. He then gives the scorpion charm to you at this point. I did not talk to him again so I never got any additional dialogue about the potion for Ranni.

I was then able to progress through the rest of Ranni’s quest normally by killing Radahn, going into Nokron and retrieving the fingerprint blade and then eventually going through nokstella and the lake of rot to the plateau in Liurnia to talk to her. She did not become hostile to me at any point during the quest. Good luck to anyone else trying to get this talisman, it seems like this quest is so easy to mess up on accident.

                                                                                        • They fixed this quest in the patch. You still need to obtain the fingerslayer blade to trigger the dialogue with Seluvis, but you now don’t have to give it to him. But you still need to buy all the puppets, obtain the Amber starlight, etc. It now lets you keep the blade and give it to Ranni and continue on with her questline.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

If you've completed Ranni's quest, you can find him dead in his tower next to Ranni's tower. He will have a bell bearing on him to buy his stuff. He will not have the talisman sadly.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

If you've completed Ranni's quest, you can find him dead in his tower next to Ranni's tower. He will have a bell bearing on him to buy his stuff. He will not have the talisman sadly.

                                                                                              • An important part of this that is left out,
"Where to find Magic Scorpion Charm:

Obtained from talking to Preceptor Seluvis after obtaining the Fingerslayer Blade but before giving it to Ranni the Witch."

You need to buy a second puppet from him before he lets you do the quest. If you were confused as to why nothing was happening, that is why.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

They fixed this quest in the patch. You still need to acquire the fingerslayer blade to trigger the dialogue with Seluvis (and allow you to buy the puppets and give him the Amber Starlight), but now you don’t have to give him the fingerslayer blade. You get to keep it and continue on with the Ranni quest line.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Why is it that this is the only Scorpion Charm that locked behind an easily missed quest? Very stupid design choice if you ask me. At the very least, make it so you can still buy it from his bell if you miss out. None of the other 3 charms are done this way so I don't know why From decided that this was going to be where the Magic Charm comes from. This is my second play through now where I missed out on it because I didn't know when that puppet loving bozo dies...

                                                                                                    /rant

Wow to echo other comments that this is so easy to miss when it is such a big buff for a caster build, I am 30h into the game I find out "I ****ed up" this quest by not reading the wiki as there is no ingame clues for this.

**** like this is REALLY offputting, start over or play a gimped build for the rest of the game.

                                                                                                      • Another weird quest that abruptly ends without warning. At no point are you given any hint whatsoever that giving Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade will end Seluvis’ quest. I gotta say, I love FromSoftware, but this kind of quest design is dumber than it is clever, forcing the player to replay the entire game because the game is always auto saving, and playing the game without a guide is a huge mistake. If you need to read an encyclopedia to tell you what not to do in this game, I think it’s bad design. I guess I should have seen this coming from an open world FromSoftware game. Open world is always a recipe for most developers. Sad.

                                                                                                        • Can you get this talisman and progress his questline without having to kill Nepheli? Such as giving the potion to the Dung Eater, or giving it to Gideon? I honestly didn't even know about him giving this talisman until after he was already dead, and on my current playthrough I messed up the Nepheli questline by killing Gostoc, so I'd like to get both the talisman and finish her quest properly if possible.
