Marika's Soreseal is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Marika's Soreseal raises MindIntelligenceFaith, and Arcane by 5 each, but increases damage taken by 15%. Easily confused with the separate talisman: Marika's Scarseal. Players can use talismans in Elden Ring to boost a variety of Stats.

This legendary talisman is an eye engraved with an Elden Rune, said to be the seal of Queen Marika.

Greatly raises mind, intelligence, faith, and arcane, but also increases damage taken by a similar measure.

Solemn duty weighs upon the one beholden; not unlike a gnawing curse from which there is no deliverance.

Marika's Soreseal Effect in Elden Ring

Marika's Soreseal raises MindIntelligenceFaith, and Arcane by 5 each, but increases damage taken by 15%.

Where to find Marika's Soreseal in Elden Ring

  • Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: Found on an altar in a sealed room in the southeast lower levels. This room requires a Stonesword Key to unlock. [Map link
  • From the Prayer Room Site of Grace, move through the door to the north, and cross over to the walkway that has the Erdtree Avatar. Head to the southern end of the walkway, then jump down the western side, jumping down once again to reach the sealed door.
  • Alternatively, if you're feeling up for it, from the Elphael Inner Wall Site of Grace: leave the area through the eastern door and head down the ladder to the southeast. After going through the arch, turn right and follow the path, circling the city until you get to the imp statue. Be careful of enemies along the way, and inside the room as you pick up the talisman.

Elden Ring Marika's Soreseal Notes & Tips

  • Sell value: runes currency elden ring wiki guide 18 3,000
  • Incompatible with Marika's Scarseal.
  • Flat increases to attribute points are more impactful in the early-game.
  • To determine if a soreseal is worth using, consider not only the item's penalty, but also the opportunity cost of a talisman slot. A player who replaces their soreseal talisman with a mere Crimson Amber Medallion will not only cease to take 15% more damage, but also gain 8% more HP. Cumulatively, this brings them from 100/115% to 108/100% effective HP, which constitutes a 24.2% increase when dividing the newer fraction by the former. This is the difference between dying in four hits and five, so if a build's last 20 levels don't give a 25% increase to health, damage, or something of equal value (20% absorption lowers 125% damage to 100), it is better to remove those levels to strip the soreseal off. Typically, this makes the soreseal not worth using by level 80 to 100, where most builds should be nearing their first damage cap.

why would they not put this the the church by leyndell next to the magma wyrm?? by the time you find this, you’ve fought your way through and changed your build enough to tank damage anyway.

        Weird location for the talisman.
I mean, radagon's soreseal is easily pickable.
Maybe a lore implication? Not sure.

Twink invasion builds are a reward. You must first struggle the entire game in order to bully other people.
This is fair, and people saying otherwise are wrong.

Great for a Scarlet Rot early invasion build using Rotten Crystal Spear, Antspur, Stinger and Rotten Decay, as you need Arcane, Faith and Intelligence but don't need to commit in any of them if you choose Warrior as starting class. Put some dexterity so your Antspur Rapier, Stinger and Rotten Crystal Spear also scale well. No need to surpass the 10 Strength which is perfect. Go and be toxic to new players, literally.

            • If you're not using more than 15 of the points it gives, I would recommend against it because I don't think the absorption penalty is worth it (the absorption penalty and stat increase balance out, but you also lose a talisman slot that could potentially be very helpful). And I definitely wouldn't recommend pairing this with Radagon's, I don't know if the absorption penalty is multiplicative or if it just ends up being too much, but enemy attacks end up being very powerful with both talismans AND your healing's effectiveness is also reduced in consequence, it's just an awful time because this game is already very demanding on HP especially mid to late game.

put this in the place of whatever generic healing miracle is in marikas bed before morgott and there'll be a guaranteed increase in its use

You are far better off doing parkour than attempting to run past like 15 revenants. It’s easy parkour, literally the most difficult thing you have to do is a jump, probably a running jump

                  • Anonymous

Jump into the wall where the putrid avatar is/was patrolling, go to the wall where the blocked door is and jump to your right. You'll land above the room where the scarseal is. Drop down, go through the door, get the scarseal, tp back to the site of grace. No revenant to deal with.

You can get to it while ignoring the revenants, just use Opaline hardtear and Crimson burst crystal tear to ignore the damage along with full bull-goat armor and mimic tear (mine is +10, not sure if anything lower than +8 would work). If you don't have the endurance to not be overloaded use erdtree's favor (also helps with the hp boost) and arsenal charm/great jar charm. Blessed dew Talisman and Viridian Amber medallion help too. I used these and just rushed past all the revenants, killed em with moon veil after I got the talisman since my mimic tear got them low. Even with only 30 vigor you can do it

                        • There is one use for this: Use it for the Int, Faith, and Mind to cast some buffs you are 5 points shy of meeting the requirements for, then swap it for another Talisman before you start fighting.

                            Reeee 15%!

I get to have 30% more stamina and only lose 5% negation over not using this with the higher tier armor, along with access to the best sorceries and incantations. Fantastic talisman.

                            • I found this in Siofra River. After fighting the Dragonkin Soldier, I moved to the waterfall that was close by, and there it was. No need to go to Haligtree.

                              • This is generally worse than Radagons because at most you’re only going to benefit from 3 stats at most, not all 4, and usually 2. Mind is good for any caster, but unless you’re going Faith/Int or Faith/Arcane, you’re not going to benefit from the stats. It’s better to use Radagons and use the points you’re no longer putting into Str/Dex/Hp/Stam into your casting stat, especially where it can help you meet weapon requirements.

Marika's Soreseal sure makes me sore. You have to go through one of the worst sections of the game, NEAR the end of the game, to get an item that gives you pseudo 20 levels...when you're already at a high level. The stats gained are nowhere worth the extra damage you take by the time you're in Haligtree, unless you're doing a run to see how quickly Malenia can kill you.

Meanwhile you can get Radagon's Soreseal within the first 10 minutes of the game, where the bonus stats are at their highest value.

The item placement in Elden Ring continues to confuse me.

Because of it's location; this is the worst talisman in the game, maybe except some challange runs. Would've been a good talisman if it was in a location you could get without needing to nearly finish the game.

****in fromsoft man. I swear to god, what even is this ****. Why even have it in the game. Nobody gives a **** about these 4 attributes when you get oneshot a kilometer away by a goddamn bear that so much as breathes on you.

Besides running past the revenants, I found that the easiest way to get through them is to use heal incantations. Even on my RL1 run with the base heal spell, I could 2 shot the revenants with it as they spawned in. The stun from the first cast gives you enough time for the second.

                                        • Anonymous

If you're having trouble getting through the Revenant gauntlet to pick this up, just use Unseen Form sorcery (16 INT req; need to solve a tower puzzle in Altus). Start from the Inner Wall grace, make yourself all ghosty, sneak past the knights, down the ladder. Revenants will still spawn but they won't attack as long as you keep walking while invisible and keep some distance. DO NOT crouch run or they'll aggro, only walk. Make sure to reapply Unseen Form when necessary.

It's worth noting as long as you have Dragoncrest Shield Talisman +1 or better, it practically fully negates the physical damage increase. So if you really want to keep your soreseal on (and a scarseal of the other if you are feeling daring), equip the dragoncrest shield talisman +1/+2 or dragoncrest greatshield talisman with it.

                                            • Does this potentially have a use for very low vigor glass cannon builds?
If you pump enough points into vigor during the sweetspot levels it will it add enough HP to negate the damage?

                                              • I was just writing up about how this could be useful late game for a death sorcerer... It's not as appealing after doing the math. My build is getting around a 15% increase in FP, a 6% spell buff boost, a 1% weapon damage boost, and probably around 5% increase to the consumables I use (I'm not interested in doing the math there.) It's not useless and has more merit than it gets credit for, but probably a good idea to swap it out post level 100.

Aside from a pure melee character with very low faith/int in a build needing this in rare PvE only cases to access various spells for adapting to a situation this is useless and meant purely for trading onto other early game characters as it is simply gotten far too late and is too weak at that point.

                                                          • Anonymous

What taking 15% damage really means: you have 15% less HP, your flasks heal 15% less, and you need to heal 15% more often. Unless you need the stats for requirements, don't use these things.

                                                            • Anonymous

tbh Soreseals making you take 15% more dmg makes them more suited towards the earlygame. with me always getting Radagon's Soreseal as my first talisman on every run I do, there's little reason to use them beyond level ~75-80. Since by which time you'd have reached the thresholds for baseline requirements already, All I have to do is sacrifice a little elden bling until I get more endurance.(along with the psychological effect of having a smaller health bar but more effective HP) besides that the endgame bosses do so much damage that making them do any more than they already do is just setting yourself up for a slip-up oneshot.

When this talisman is only accessible at the fking haligtree, why not just use the normal +5 heirlooms for the stat you actually want? especially in terms of INT, since graven mass+stargazer gives you the optimal setup compared to something like the soreseal and magic/holy/lightning scorpion charm, which also contend for a talisman spot while nuking your dmg resist.

If this talisman wasn't locked behind 80% of the whole game there's probably be a use case for it.

The whole reason to use this talisman is to make the game a bit harder while also getting a nice bonus, like the scorpion charms, and 5 levels is really valuable late game to three stats, if I need just a little bit extra faith or arcane I need a **** ton of runes I have to farm to get that, same with radagon, it doesn’t make it not worth it because you take more damage, seems like a biased opinion in wiki tbh

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

Stat wise radagons has a much better distribution too. I would rather have this increase vigor instead of useless arcane. Feels so unfair

                                                                                            • Anonymous

You can jump down on top of the room with the talisman, and then down to the imp statue. Only one grafted guy spawns but he didnt even see me.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Highly recommend taking a Heal incantation with you if you can. It’ll instantly stagger the freaky arm guys, whatever they’re called.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

"Be careful of enemies" Yeah ****ing right. Two tanky-ass haligtree knights that have flasks and blessings (don't get the ballista operator's attention or they'll constantly interrupt your attacks with the haligtree knights) while watching out for the other ballistas posted on the left side, TWO of those freakish teleporting amalgams with several arms that won't let you get a single hit in and deal a ton of damage, and THREE Crystalian summons that take forever to break their stances (not to mention if you get hit by one of their heavy attacks you get procced with rot).

Probably more frustrating than any boss fight ever.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

It's next to a giant Soldier, underneath a water fall, next to where the Great Oracular Bubble is located.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

If you'd rather fight 1 revenant than 12, you can get here from the Prayer Room grace. Jump onto the railing on the right, then onto the large supporting brace leading to the outer wall. Drop down onto the pillar, try not to aggro the Avatar, drop down onto the wall and head right (grab the smithing stone if you haven't yet) and drop down onto the roof of the imp-sealed room. One revenant will still spawn as soon as you drop to street level, but you can just summon a spirit to tank while you open the door and nab the seal.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

From there jump on the lower ledge of the pillar and you can safely get to the imp statue

                                                                                                          • I believe it still very much worth using but not a must have like Radagon's Seals. Radagon's Seals can cancel their debuff because they offer health increase too but Marika's counterpart offers only weapon scaling and bonus FP.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

You can also make use of the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman to get ~17% of your physical defense back.

It's like a 12% at maximum boss-tier damage increase. You're likely to die in the exact same amount of hits, regardless of the damage intake debuff. Wouldn't be sure exactly how damage increase scales once you put both talismans on but my wager is that it doesn't matter. So, free stats.
