Elden Ring Marionette Soldier Ashes Guide

  • Consume medium FP(67)
  • Like many red eyed summons they do not follow you, and will immediately attack enemies in their vicinity.
  • Will malfunction from being hit too much causing them to shoot arrows sporadically in a 360° spinning animation. (unless in close proximity or target is a big enemy, majority of arrows will miss)

Lawn sprinkler that tosses out arrows with an onboard guidance system. I've been upgrading it and it's been cradling my sweet prince in its arms the entire game.

Surprisingly effective against those PITA flying dragons, especially considering their low FP cost. A bit on the fragile side though.

Boone and his conveniently equivalently-skilled twin brother, taking shots at things entire area codes away from you just like the good old days.

Wait, how do these have spirits? They are marionettes, right? Sure puppets are a thing, but I thought those were directly shown to be people, while these are implied to basically be automatons.

You'd think the epileptic seisures these ****ers have every few minutes would affect their aim. Turns out the fastest gun in the west is the one lying on the floor having convulsions.

These guys carry so hard. You can bounce a boss's aggro between you and the summons all day. Gideon and Black Knife Assasins are going nuts trying to reach them. And with the mimic tear at Nokron I just made a cup of tea while they took care of business.

As with all summons they get a lot tankier and hit harder with upgrades. Being ranged and mostly immobile can be a huge benefit. Put them in a corner with a Warming Stone near them, while you approach a boss from behind.

                  • Anonymous

Fragile and not great at maneuvering but by god they will turn the boss into a pincushion or a panicked wreck. If the boss doesn't autododge they can draw INSANE aggro and often help with knockdowns due to constant poise chip. If the boss is coded to dodge projectiles it will spend the entire fight leaping around helplessly and you can kill it at your leisure. Seriously underrated summon. Just don't expect them to survive if they're fighting something with room-clearing AOE

OK. I love you Mario Bros. You are a not too tanky but you stagger enough to never let a hit get in sideways. You can also find enemies before I know they are there even if you are just filling the wall with arrows, but FFS please don't wander off to fight **** that is not part of the mission. And if you do go off for a smoke, please come back and help before the fight is over, yeah, that would be awesome.

I like these guys for doing chip damage to hoards. Like claymen. Just summon them in range and a bit high up. Then drop down to melee or stay and help pick them off with some range.

These guys make short work of the Godskin Duo if you're stuck on that boss. The only thing keeping these from being my only summon is that they don't follow you.

Would probably go well with the Cursed-Blood Pot to either have them aim down one target, or to get them to perhaps aggro from a far and have them move.

Say what you will about these guys but they just helped me beat Malenia, their arrows stagger her so much it was amazing

I've just summoned these for the albinaurics at blood-filled lake. They did okay seeing as they have no upgrades put in them and the albinaurics here hit hard. If I did upgrade them would I see any improvement in the damage they do? or would they just get a slightly bigger health pool with each upgrade?

I've never used these once since I found them, I know the enemy version can stun-lock and kill me easily if they see me before I see them and I was at a fairly high level the last time it happened at mt gelmir, but they are pretty fragile and die quickly. I'm going to try them out later on to see for myself.

Best summon simply bc watching your boi have a seizure in the corner and then seeing 37 arrows sticking out of the boss's head can't be topped

                                    • My favorite summon, breaks AIs, stunlocks everything that has no poise, always takes aggro off you from the sheer number of arrows and you can see all the arrows sticking out of the bosses. Also use this against the invisible black knife assassin in sage's cave. He can't do anything other than dodge and will be stunlocked.

                                      • Anonymous

Super underappreciated summon. These guys single-handedly killed the invisible Black Knife Assassin in Sage Cave for me. Been bouncing between these and the Avionettes. These are better for distraction & dps, and they can tank a little more. Avionettes have more evasion because they are way more mobile, do fire damage, and can chunk with bleed but are pretty fragile. If the enemy has an AOE, use these guys & yoyo the enemy between yourself & the marionettes for success.

carried the 2x iron maiden fight for me. They both ganged up on them so when they started firing arrows everywhere it was just over.

Are there stronger ashes than them? Yes
Is their ai, especially aggro range broken, making them unreasonable passive if no enemy is in their attack? Yes
                                            Are they fragile? Yes

Will the enemy have 20 arrows stick out of them and the only reason why there are not even more is because of rendering limits? Yes
Will the enemy constantly be interrupted because of a constant hail of arrows, especially since their quivers are magical and never run empty? Yes

I love these guys, especially since they are very early available

                                            • Anonymous

Rather useless at Caria Manor, they'll shoot at enemies still burrowed underground, only good if you don't want to look for the enormous fingers protruding from the Earth. They also can tend to just act like Ash's Charizard, and will just wander about aimlessly while you try to proceed through an area. Good in boss fights but.

                                              • Anonymous

Very handy for spellcaster and/or bosses that flinch.
They stay out of range of most attacks, and interrupts attacks for you.
Thus I absolutely love them on my melee fighter. Even use them to ping pong bosses
(forcing bosses to run between me and them without ever reaching either)

                                                • Anonymous

Pretty damn solid Spirit summons. Stands head and shoulders above most basic enemy summons (that are quite garbage). They're just as good as annoying/hurting enemies with their quickfire barrage (as you well know by now if you've had to fight them lol) and they are surprisingly tanky too - although you should aim to have the enemy focus on yourself, of course.

And like the amazing Skeletal Militiamen summon, you get two of them.

.... there is a bit of a downside though, if they get hurt too much they go into a berserk mode where they just spin and fire arrows without targeting anyone which makes them useless for the duration. But that can be helped by aggroing things yourself.

                                                  • Anonymous

Upgraded them as soon as I found them and they pretty much solo'd Renalla (Academy boss) by perma interrupting her casts

                                                    • Anonymous

This spirit is the dumbest AI I've seen in a game in a really long time. Don't get me wrong, they do their job to a good extent, but they cannot dodge or even move even if I am getting bodied right in front of them. So long as they cannot target your opponent, you're on your own, and they'll watch you suffer 'till the last drop of your Crimson Flask.

                                                      • Anonymous

Their constant barrage of arrows screws with the AI against human opponents, making them roll nonstop and attack less.

You have to dodge stomps but if you stop attacking for a second to allow the summon so keep pulling aggro you basically keep the dragon on the ground.

                                                                        • Anonymous
