My dumb ass was sitting here for several minutes wondering why there was no homeward bone equivalent in this game and then I remembered you can fast travel to any site of grace lmao. Feel so stupid

      • Anonymous

I use this at the beginning of the game instantly when I enter Margits boss fight in Limgrave. It activates your journey to the roundtable hold so you can buy whatever you want there faster.

        • Anonymous

I was deciding what armor to wear in the Roundtable Hold, and I wanted to remove Godrick's rune so I could see the encumbrance. Not only did my runes not drop on the ground, but I still have my great rune active. This is the worst item in the game, it can't even kill me correctly.

All credit goes to arc_turus on this one for reminding me - an alternative to this or the crystal tear would be the sacrificial twig

The item is for when you get stuck or are unable to fast travel to a site of grace from an underground area where fast travel is disabled. You will loose your runes permanently.

In other words, it's your "easy way out" so to speak.

Goddamn it just used this thing on accident in an autistic moment of trying to put my torrent summon in its place.

                • Anonymous

do not use this item unless stuck or are farming for rare drops in an undground area for quick return to the grace as it completely wipes the runes and doesn't drop them

Its a last resort for cases when you are stuck in "trapped" situation and don't know way out and can't use the map grace sites (they are crossed out). But game equips it next to torrent steed.. not something you want to click accidentally.

                      "It is merely a cycle"
Anyone want to try and touch upon what that means? Is it referring to the gameplay loop of you dieing and coming back or is it about the actual world? FROMSOFTWARE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE CONFIRMED?

                      • It would be cool if they later on added something like the coil sword fragment (or however it was called) that dropped from final boss of DS3 that teleported you to last bonfire (grace) you rested at without losing souls (runes).

                        • Just tested it in the Limgrave Tunnels, died at the end and didn't want to lose my runes but resurrected at the statue instead of the Grace.
This returned me to the Grace point, but still shows my 'runes' on the compass.

This seems like an even more useless item than the ring in Dark Souls. You can just teleport to a site of grace and not lose anything.

Has anyone found an item that lets you return without losing runes?
similar to how the homeward bones worked
