Meteoric Ore Blade is a Katana in Elden Ring. The Meteoric Ore Blade scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence and is a good Weapon for dealing melee Slash and Pierce damage in combat. Its accompanying unique skill can also allow the user to thrust their weapon into the ground to create a gravity well to pull in enemies and damage them in the process.
Katana forged from meteoric ore to dispatch lifeforms born of falling stars.
Deals magic damage.
The blade is weighty, known to deliver slashes of such ferocity that the impact is said to resemble the crash of a falling meteor.

The L2 is called "Gravitas" because there wasn't enough space for
"Get Your Butt Back Here Chump, I'm Not Done Slashing It Yet."
- Anonymous
with 25 str and 41-50 int this weapon still has pretty insane AR for a katana. Can be fun with cold wakizashi off hand or shield for some magic knight buids. Only really beaten by magic greatswords, which i guess is no surprise.

"Charged r2 on this weapon deals a lot of poise damage, useful for bosses that you can poise break."
Why is this added here?
It's not untrue, but it's kinda misleading. This Katana does the same amount of poise-damage as any other Katana.
It's like saying "using R1 is great for dealing damage"

Any testing on the Gravitas skill scaling with INT? Curious as to how it does at say, 50 vs 80. Trying to decide if I want to go max STR or INT. Once I get to the academy again I’ll respec and report if not.

I'm a strength user with 70 points in str and 20-ish points in int to weild a +10 ruins greatsword, wich effectively leaves nothing but ruins behind the areas a go through. Been trying this meteoric ore blade out of curiosity of a katana scaling well with strength and made it to +8.
Just let me tell you something: the ONLY con it has in comparison to the ruins greatsword is 10-ish less poise damage on hits. Similar damage, faster, bleed aux, skull-crushing r2, decent block stability, gravitas... uncanny to build, but damn worth investing.

If only it summoned a single rock/comet/meteor, even if for aesthetic. Then you can RP as Issho/Fujitora from One Piece with his gravity sword tech.

I think the hilts are like rapiers because they're created by nobles rather than Land of Reeds. Weapons like Eleanor's Poleblade came from the Land of Reeds as is evident by their hilt.
- Anonymous
Notice how the weapon has bloodstones like Alberich's Set. It's as though the weapon is a blunt object that draws blood from enemies by use of the stones. This makes sense because it's like Dark Soul's Berserker or Black Blade which is a poisebreaking katana. I've never noticed a weapon have lore like that. This makes it one of the coolest weapons in the game. I think the hilts are like rapiers because they're created by Western nobles rather than Land of Reeds. Weapons like Eleanor's Poleblade came from the Land of Reeds as is evident by their hilt.

If you are hesitant to use this weapon, here are my reasons for using it:
1. looks sick as ****
2. ICHIMONJI
3. Gravitas is great (I'm invading and am 1v2 most of the time)
4. reminds me of Black Blade, which is great if you liked that weapon in DSIII
5. great moveset
6. this is not Moonveil bro. It's shorter, heavier, the scaling is more str focused, and the special is "worse". you don't have to feel like a metaslave when you use this
7. and most importantly this looks sick as ****

I’ve started trying to complete a no death run and this is my weapon of choice. It gets insane value from godrick’s rune being active, since it scales with str dex and intel.
I’ve noticed some people pointing out that R2s don’t do more poise damage than other katanas, but fully charged one’s definitely do, since it takes two to poise break giant golem enemies, while Uchigatana has to do 2heavy+2light attacks. Would love if someone with an enemy poise meter addon could give us exact values.
Also, the second fully charged r2 seem to be charging up much faster than other katanas

Really good option against Rennala for people who invested heavily into sorceries.
- Anonymous
On the shorter side for a Katana, but the r2 attack (Ichimonji, for the Sekiro stans) has a built-in forward step that helps make up for it.
That’s really the selling point of this weapon: the r2 hits fast, tracks excellently, and combos great with its AoW. Not necessarily the best Katana, but definitely the best Strength option for the weapon class.

This thing is way more annoying than rivers of blood or moonveil. Purely because of the r2s. Absolutely irritating. Thankfully the rest of its moveset is generic katana. This is a pretty strong weapon when used by someone competent. Most people who pick up this are either glass cannon mages with like 700 hp or carian knight cosplayers who offhand it with moonveil. Like i said, annoying but not hard to deal with most of the time.

Can someone fix the page to say “lesser kindred of rot” instead of “prawn miner”. Funny though it may be, newcomers could get confused
- Anonymous
Even if it was at the cost of innate bleed, I wish this thing did strike damage to really set it apart from other katana

an idea for an ash of war for this,
yknow that spiraling and flying attack radahn has? maybe something like that
you jump up prepare your blade then fall down in a flurry of spiraling slashes around you, it would fit with the description even more, then of course all of radahns gravity magic would have a AOW or spell counterpart

An easy fix to the Meteoric Ore Blade, Serpentbone Blade and Dragonscale Blade Katanas would be to increase the Meteoric Ore Blade Katana's scaling to B Str, E Dex and B Int, making it the Strength equivalent of the Moonveil Katana.
What I would do with the Serpentbone Blade katana is to make it buffable with grease or incantations(Similar to Bloodhound fang or Treespear), giving you the option to get bleed from Bloodflame Blade or more poison build up from Poison Armamanent.
What I would do with the Dragonscale Blade Katana is give it a passive frostbite of 50, making it more viable without using its Ash of War. The last thing I would do is change the Ash of War. It's simply not a good AOW to use as a weapon buff. What I had in mind would be to give it a AOW duplicate like some of the other Katanas have, like moonveil having a better version of unsheathe and ROA having a better version of Double Slash. So my idea would be to give it a better version of Piercing Fang(Nagakiba's AOW), and what I would change about it would be to make the blade call down a bolt of ice lightning into the blade whilst holding the weapon horizontally similar to Piercing Fang, and when thrusting, bringing down the bolt of ice lightning upon a foe like the ash of war it already has, giving the 130 flat lightning damage and 30 frostbite build up instead of 80, since it already has the passive 50 frostbite.
By making these changes, It would make them more likely to be used and be able to hold their end against the Moonveil and Rivers of Blood Katanas.

Jerren's Dialogue and this weapon's location in the Caelid swamp may imply it was forged by Iji
"Strange fella, when I knew him. And funny thing, his swords were all blunt as stone. But not one of them decayed when faced with the scarlet rot..."

Extremely comfy weapon. Rushed it at the start of the game and still loving it.

Probably my favorite weapon on my Str/Int build next to the Ruins GS. This thing is just so well rounded and does reliable damage. Nothing too flashy, but the R2’s are really nice for catching people when you mix up the timing
After doing a recent deep dive into poise, I had someone ask about the poise damage of this weapon and think the community might be a little mislead by some of the notes and discussion here (just search "poise" in the comments and you'll find specific praise for it). I think the note about having good poise damage with its charged attacks after mention of a special heavy attack compared to other katanas might be confusing some readers.
This weapon's poise damage is identical to other Katanas, which is also identical to most Straight Swords, Axes, Spears, Fist Weapons, Curved Swords and Twinblades (there are a few outliers in some of these classes but it's all mostly the same). That is to say, two 2-handed charged attacks from any of these weapons can break the stance of enemies like Banished Knights, Grave Warden Duelists, Tougher Misbegotten, Onyx Lords, Perfumers, Cleanrot Knights, etc. It's good to know about your weapon's ability to do this sort of thing, but there's nothing special about this particular weapon's poise damage. The page doesn't outright say it's better, but that seems to be the impression a lot are taking away.

Although it's pretty average in length, I might even say that it's big (actually quite huge), I still wished it was bigger, because when I dual wield it with another katana you can clearly see the size disparity.

What are some good talismans if I wanna main this?
I figure axe talisman and crit stuff may be good but I'm no expert.
I'm not huge on katanas being these nimble dexterity/agility/whatever weapons in video games considering every single move they do irl with them is some variation on a barbarian chop (with the rare stab). Finally we get a strength katana and it rocks!

idc if this is worse than rob or moonveil or normal katanas with cold/blood/occult builds this one just looks the coolest
- Anonymous
Pretty fun pure str katana. AR wise, it's competitive at minimum requirements with heavy uchi/naga, but lacks their range and flexibility. Losing the heavy katana poke may seem bad, but you just need to use running heavies to poke instead. The aow can hit hard if you're close enough to land the actual ground stab.
For solid damage, get str to 54 (for 2 hand) or 80 before leveling int beyond the minimum.

Tower of Frenzy, go to the second-from-top level. Stay in the shade, do two or three gravitas slams to kill the zombies up top who are keeping the flame alive. Problem solved.

The only katana i would ever so much as think about using, the rest can eat my ass.

The servants of rot in the underground tomb where this sword is are not the same as the others patrolling the roads in Caelid or Sellia Crystal Tunnel and they seem to be to be a lot more vulnerable to fire, they died a lot quicker than the other type of pest.

Best katana in the game.
-Doesn't require levelling DEX
-Greatsword damage with katana speed
-R2s look incredibly stylish and poise break everything in existence on top of being fast
-Ash of war is great against annoying flying enemies and pseudo combos into the R2
- Anonymous
I love this thing, it’s saved my sorcerer’s ass many times just by being forged by Chad himself.

If the jumping heavy was still ichimonji I think this would be the perfect weapon.

Put chilling mist on the Wakizashi and pull your target into the mist with Gravitas

This could have been so much better. If they gave this thing strike damage and changed the AoW it would be perfect. It would honestly be really cool to see if they kept the animation but it was an aoe version of ruin great sword instead. Stab into the ground and it shoots yo around u like ur a crashing meteorite.
- Anonymous
Will adding points into arcane increase the chance of inflicting blood loss with this weapon?
- Anonymous
would be cool if this katana dealt strike damage to match the "crash of a falling meteor" description

Fully-charged Ichimonji (heavy attack) will stagger trolls in two hits, and the dragons in the Dragonbarrow (two hits if you hit the head, which is surprisingly easy if you lock onto the head because of the high starting point of the downward swing.) I kinda want to switch builds to faith to try some fire/frenzy flame incantations, but I just can't switch off Meteoric Ore Blade. It's too good. 10/10 boss killer somehow flawlessed the Fallingstar Beast in Sellia Crystal Tunnel with accidentally amazing spacing and only using uncharged R2's which still do quite a bit of posture damage

When I was a noob, I found this by an accident and I was spending my prisoner's stats randomly and by an accident, I had the right stats to use this - it turned out to have a very high damage on low leveles because it had physical, magical and bleed build up + good poise damage and a nice, quick aoe - everything you need on a blade. Im still using it to this day against mobs although I also use another weapon for bosses and some sorceries.

That's goddamn Sokka's meteorite sword from Avatar the Last Airbender series. Almost exact design!

Honesty, this weapon and Serpentbone Blade could've been so much more if From did them just a wee bit more justice. An apex Str katana with the highest AR among its classmates and a truckload of poise damage, Meteoric Ore Blade could've posed an extremely viable, strong and much desired alternative to AoW-spamming katanas like Moonveil and RoB. Don't get me wrong, there is no wrong way to play a mainly single-player game like ER, it's just many people, myself included, would want a bit more from the weapon then AoW spam. Now, this weapon could've packed a bit more tricks and treats under its stylish and drippy blade (were it at least a bit longer). It's charged R2s should've had 180 deg or cone-shaped gravitational AoE explosion effect to it, similar to Fallingstar Beast's 1st phase attack. Second R2 or R1 chain after charged R2 could've had a stone-coated blade buff like the one Radahn's swords have. As to the Ash of War, I feel like Gravitas doesn't really deserve all the hate I've seen on Reddit and the wiki. Granted, it's not Transient Moonlight, but it doesn't have to be. Yes, the damage could've been bigger, but how I see this AoW's usage, aside from killing birds and cospaying Nagato, the poise break/stagger with open window for follow-up attack and crowd control are the points of using Gravitas. You just can't mindlessly spam it, or rely on it exclusively, doesn't make it a bad AoW. To sum up, in my opinion, with this or similar changes, even retaining lackluster basic katana moveset, Meteoric Ore would've been a monster of a weapon - not outright broken, just very fun and satisfying to use. Thanks for reading this rant of sorts, sorry for any mistakes you may stumble upon, ain't my native language and all that.

The only thing that really botheres me with this weapon is the overswing in the ground of the R2, followed by a hastelly adjustment to stop the movement at hip height. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU DO THAT. YOU STOP AT THE HIP. NO OVERSWING!
- Anonymous
great weapon for int builds willing to level STR, or STR and DEX.
doesn't scale that well with INT though.
The ichimonji R2 is incredibly fun and while gravitas isn't the best skill it can be quite useful
i wouldn't recommend for anyone who doesn't intend to level STR however.
- Anonymous
That r2 is really good but gravitas sucks. this could have been a git good weapon.

Excellent early game weapon for Strength / Intelligence build hybrids. This weapon can be acquire very easily and early once you have Torrent (no bosses gatekeeping it). Ore Blade has very high based damage and a decent AoW that is useful for hitting multi-weak mobs and knocking flying enemies out of the air. The charged R2 is almost a second AoW that deals massive damage, has good tracking, and deals high posture damage. The biggest downsides of the ore blade is how it's outclassed by Moonveil and other katanas with better AoW. The ore blade is also the shortest Katata. Overall, this weapon is a solid choice to hold you over until you can get other STR/INT weapons such as the Ruins Greatsword, Starsscourge greatsword, or the FallingStar Beast Jaw.

The most appealing katana for me, not ugly like Nagakiba and not for meatheads like Rivers of Dodoo

I swear this things charged r2 has way higher poisebreak than most of the weapons in the game. I was literally able to stagger a crucible knight with just charged r2s

Is this OP af or what? I upgraded it to +5 to try it out and it's slashing through enemies faster than my dual Falchions +13. Maybe enemies in Caelid are weak to magic, idk.
- Anonymous
why its lower stability on +10 ? from 35 on +9 to 33 on +10 ?
whats a point?
- Anonymous
Kinda wish it had the Waves of Darkness Ash of War instead of Gravitas. Since this is primarily a strength weapon, I think it would fit, even if it shouldn't be allowed to go on that Weapon Class. It would also make this katana feel even more unique.

Build if Radahn and Malenia had a child, dual gravity katanas

You use it because it's an overlooked STR/INT weapon. I use it because my character looks like Isshin Ashina. We are both chads
