Monk's Flameblade is a Curved Greatsword in Elden Ring. The Monk's Flameblade scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for players willing to trade weapon damage for lower weight.

The Monk's Flameblade weapon can be found at the following location:

Dropped by Fire Monks.
1. In Mountaintops of the Giants, Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave. From the site of grace, go down the stairs to the left. Avoid the first Fire Monk located immediately down the stairs and proceed to the right through a hidden path. Jump down and avoid or kill the imps with the golden light and then proceed forward. The Fire Monk that can drop the Flameblade is to the right in the corríddor with the flame trap. You can use Margit’s Shackle to disarm the trap.

  Why yes, I did just spend 3 hours farming this thing despite the fact that it is objectively worse than a similar weapon that can be easily acquired very early on in the game, and I fully intend to use it as my main weapon, simply because it looks cool. Why do you ask?

  Tower of Caelid: Basement is technically the most optimal farming spot for this weapon, as the run back to the grace is short enough that it allows roughly 10 kills before the silver fowl foot buff runs out

  I'm using the Monk's Flameblade (Flame of the Redmane) with Flame Art infusion on the main hand and a Death's Poker on the left. The looks are amazing, charged R2 is a killer, and it cancels the frostburn debuff after exploding Death's Poker's skill. Just loving it.
  
  "Bruh, but why curved and greatsword? You're missing the dual-wield attack!" Well, let's say changing weapon animations on the go can be effective on PvP.

  i recommend great stars + wild strikes AOW - effective on first flamemonk (flamemace), watchdog (watchdog greatsword), and second flamemonk (flameblade) if trying to do efficient farming and get 3 of these weapons at once

  This weapon just screams missed opportunities. It could have been a unique fire weapon. It could have had innate bleed. It could have had a unique moveset. Something. Anything.
  
  But as it stands now, this is objectly just a worse Dismounter when it comes to stats. Which is especially ironic since this is an endgame item, whereas you can find a Dismounter as soon as you start the game. This is Miyazaki's sick joke.
  
  This weapon is the fashion weapon at its purest form. It literally doesn't have anything going for it besides its beautiful design. The blade looks so good with grease or skills that coats the weapon. I recommend Flaming Strike, Cragblade, or Bloodflame Blade.

  Not the wost low-level farm, I did it on my rl 20 sorcerer who had exactly 18 dex, so I told myself why not. You gonna need a greathammer (any you can wield really, I used a +3 Celebrant skull), and infuse it with Stormcaller and blood affinity (to kill the monk faster). I strongly recommend to clear the dungeon before the farm, it's much easier to warp to bonfire after each killed monk. Run past first monk to the right and jump out of the window to omit the watchdog encounter, and AGGRO the 2 imps while in the circle. Be sure they turned from black to normal - it's an extra second, but it will save you unwanted deaths. Disarm the fire trap. Rush the monk, dodge his first lunge and spam Stormcaller. It will catch the imps who follow you too, and won't let them harm you. Watch your stamina and positioning, and spam Stormcallers back to back - DON'T BOTHER WITH CRITS, the monk will die soon enough from bleed procs, but the weapon type ensures he cant hit you and is stunlocked. When the monk is finished, imps (who are usually very aggressive) are dead too or left with a sliver of hp. Either finish them off and warp to grace, or let them kill you to respawn. Boring but quite safe.

  It would be cool if this was better with a flame infusion or fire infusion than the dismounter, but as it stands now, this is strictly a fashion souls choice. Dismounter has higher base AR, higher reach, slightly lower physical stat reqs (by 1 point), and can be obtained easily and much sooner. At the very least, this thing should have a slightly different moveset than the other curved swords. Anyway, at least when I see this in the arena, I know I'm facing a legit fashion souler rather than a min-maxer.

  just spent like 30 minutes trying to drop this off the blackflame monk at the bottom of caelid tower, only to find outt there's only one specific monk that can drop it.
  I should've read with more attention but... why is it this way? I'd understand if it was a guaranteed drop but if you're going to make it 4% that's just stupid.

  In one of my playthroughs, I had no intention of farming this sword, but got it completely by accident first try. Same goes for Magma Blade, btw. Eventually I spent a lot of time with it in Colosseum PVP, love its fashion

  Spent over an hour farming the Black Flame Monk at the Caelid tower's basement only to find out that one doesn't drop it. Just, why make it so we have to depend on guides to know where to find a weapon? I love this game but, geez.

  How is this rare got it 3rd try with 256 discovery rib rake and hell the nox swordstress armor took me a lot longer to farm for to finish my 100%. Overall never had a hard farming for anything really the longest was definitely the rib rake and that only took 45 to an hour to get

  to get this weapon quickly you need silver scarab talisman + marika soreseal talisman + silver tear mask + silver pickled fowl foot + grafted blade greatsword and use the sword unique skill to rise your arcane by 5

  I wish they made this longer, usually lower damage between weapons is offset by better range but this is just the dismounter with lower damage and lower range. would've been cool if it had a passive that buffed fire giant incantations like the seal for cosplay builds

  dismounter is probably better than this in pvp since it sucks in rolling attack due to shorter reach than most other cgs. Only advantage is low stamina usage, may be useful for ps build

  It's got B faith scaling with Flame-Art, which seems to be at least on par if not above average for most infusable weapons. The follow up R2 attacks twice when fully charged, which tends to catch people trying to whiff-punish you off guard, leading to surprise trades against lighter weapons. The running R2 has a huge sweeping arc that even hits behind you as you dash forward, and if you follow it up with Flame Strike it will almost always let you land both hits if they panic roll after the running attack. If you're looking for a Flame-themed greatsword for your fire guy, I give this a 10/10.

  With an 18 strength, 18 dex, and 80 Faith flame Art infused (Flame strike), you reach without buffs an AR of 844, which goes with the flame strike buff and Flame grant me strength in the thousands. Very good weapon for faith casters actually ; you just have to infuse it to change the scaling and you'll see big boy numbers

  You can get an AR of 763 on a flame art infused 18 strength, 18 dex and 80 faith fire monk caster build, and that's without the buff of Flame Grant Me Strength. Flame strike or flame of the redmanes is a great ash of war to infuse to change the scaling too. I think it's not meant to be used with quality builds, but more pure casters with an infusion as a weapon to fall back on. Pretty similar to the Monk's Flamemace hammer, although this is superior for the range you get.

  Many people disagree, but I think the damage is still acceptable enough for two reasons:
  1. If you infuse it with an affinity, it can get decently good damage.
  2. The game isn't about minmaxing for 100-200 extra damage on a sword; it is about skill. If you have the strategy (bleed, spells, specific attack on a specific moveset, etc) or raw skill to defeat a boss, you will be able to defeat it regardless of missing out on 100-200 damage. Quite simply, either you are good enough or you are not, and missing out on a small amount of DPS doesn't matter.

  I really wanted this weapon because I am doing a mostly-caster Fire Monk Quality/Faith build. I started as a prophet (so 10 arcane). I never leveled arcane, but I put on the silver scarab talisman and the silver tear mask for the 8 extra arcane. Got it first try :)

  More like monk’s LameBlade. Been dual wielding with rappy’s feathers, one cold one with with flaming strike. The damage is trash unfortunately, but the looks are 11/10. As others have said, this really could’ve used like the 30 base unscale-able fire damage that the torchpole has, while still being infusible. Alternatively, faith scaling on physical damage like the erdsteel dagger would have been cool too.

  Suck this doesn't have initiate fire damage, it should have in my opinion, great looking weapon, awesome design, but unfortunately not the greatest in damage. And people that thing it should've have initiate bleed, I don't agree, design wise it wouldn't make much sense because the teeth are inwards.

  Man using this weapon for my pyro build not the best but it’s so fun. 20 20 str dex 50 faith on flame infusion it gets over 700 damage. Is it the best not by a mile but man it matches the theme and it so fun to use. I feel any win I get is mainly from people trying to figure out what I am using or why am I using it.

  Basically just a flex weapon like the noble estoc or pumpkin flail, apart from drip its completely outclassed by other ashable cgs.

  To anyone trying to get this weapon; do NOT farm the one in the Tower of Caelid basement, while you can get it there I tried to get another, it is much more rare. I probably killed the one there 100+ times and didn't get it, then I tried to farm at the Giant-Conquering hero's grave and got it within 10-15 tries.
  (10 arcane + Silver Scarab + Silver tear Mask)

  I had been killing the blackflame monk in Tower of caelid basement, for as long as it takes to get his set 13 times. Then I went and did what this wiki said and got it first try -_- Thank you wiki

  Its a lot of potential effort and time to get this sword, when ironically the basic ass Dismounter can be farmed easily at the start of the game, and i believe that regardless of stat arrangement (even at 60/60/60/60 with all infusions) is worse than Dismounter in every conceivable way, and they have identical ranges and movesets.
  
  Only reason to use this blade is for its looks and for cosplays, otherwise, just use Dismounter

  I err...got it on my first kill on NG+2 inside the giants tomb, i have 7 arcane, kinda pissed xD tried to get this on my main for hours, only for that to happen,

  Okay I just got it in the mountaintop hero grave. Perhaps 5th try. No arcane or arcane at vagabond base, but a silver scarab talisman. I kept running towards the guy, ran across the first monk to the end of the hallway, jumped outta the last window and hugged the wall to prevent the shadow goblins from waking up. All the while I been on call to get summoned. Sometimes even my fight got interrupted because of summoning but when I respawned in my world the monk wasn't aggressive even though I was right in front of him! I can tell I tried the same in Caelid, sword did NOT spawn

  I got the weapon to drop for me, at around 212 Discovery, which is what happened when I had the Silver Tear Mask and Silver Scarab equipped. So, it's possible.

  Bloodboon ritual on the sacred spear makes killing the fire monk that can drop this sword a fast and easy kill. It passes right through walls so he can be killed from around the corner without even seeing who killed him.

  First off :) for the sake of your sanity treat the comment from Anon 20 Nov 22:26, and any older comments claiming a black flame monk in Caelid's divine tower dropped this sword or that it dropped from a monk that only wields the flame mace FFS, as bollocks of the highest order until someone posts a video of themselves on YT farming it, showing the sword drop and picking it up in one seamless clip. No video? it didn't happen, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
  
  I just spent the best part of three hours with a discovery rate of 285 killing that one fire monk in giant conquering hero's grave. In that time I only managed to kill him 40 times, one silver foot lasted long enough for two kills. To put that in perspective, I got two magma blades from the same farm session killing those three serpent-men behind the temple of eiglay, it took 54 kills and less than an hour.
  This sword is a frustrating and tedious item to farm for, the imps have to be killed on the gold sigil or they will follow and kill you before you can kill the fire monk or you can try to fight three on on one with two of the three invulnerable.
  
  The only reason I came here after getting the sword is to make sure everyone who reads this page before farming the sword knows to pick up every item that fire monk drops, the first monk drops a mace and its a purple glow, so is the armour, greaves and gauntlets but this sword did NOT have a purple glow when it dropped, I only saw the smallest white glow from when the smouldering butterflies drop so if you don't see the purple glow, pick it up anyway to be sure.

  Got in on my 2nd run (killed that guy a few more times while beating the dungeon normally, so probably in the ballpark of 10 runs), this probably wasted all my farming luck for the rest of the game
