These NPCs often provide information that helps players piece together the Lore of the game, while some are quest givers or are related to each other in some manner, while many are merchants with whom players can trade for Equipment, Magic, and Items. This page contains a full list of all the NPCs in Elden Ring, and gives links to in-depth guides where you can find detailed information on NPC locations and quest information.

Got to altus plateau and thought it was a bit easy for a from game....oh how wrong was I. What an experience

Love how they have every spirit except for the Gelmir Knight in Volcano Manor, arguably the most important spirit of them all

        • Anonymous

Don't the spirits do nothing other than offer some cryptic lore dialog to their areas? Not sure why there's a dedicated page for every single one.

            Elden Ring
Melina, A important character in Elden Ring. Seen as the chosen form of the creator her left eye is left scared at the blasphemous actions of the people as they got close to recreateation. Now it is upto the chosen Tarnished is the vassel to restore to make the choice. #eldenring

I don’t have any solutions, but I really think From should get an improved system for player experience of quests

I don’t know how man, I just think they would be more proud if they could create a much more smooth experience for the different circumstances in which players complete the quests

              • Anonymous

Miyazaki: hmmmmmm….lets give the world with the most wholesome, attractive and nicest npcs sadder questlines then bloodborne and dark souls!

                • Anonymous

The BEEG Albinuric that is part of Latenna's quest is called "Phillia, Towering Little Sister".

While we're at it, it would probably be worth putting Latenna, the Albinuric on here too.

There's a guy at the end of the hallway with the drawing rooms at Volcano Manor that appears after you've assissinated two of your targets. He tells you about Rykard and asks you to kill him. Shouldn't he be listed here as well? I'm asking because I've never heard about him anywhere.

                    • Anonymous

Did a quick count, there's like 28 npcs that have a bad ending or one where they die tragically, and 9 have good or content endings

                      • Anonymous

help i accidentally kill varre & kenneth haight in my every single playthrough, any idea why are there 2 particular npc are so fun to kill?

                        • Anonymous

For being the most 'bright' entry in the souls series, Elden Ring has some of the most brutal ends for the npcs

                          • Anonymous

It's crazy how most of these NPCs die or go mad if you progress their questlines. Very few of them get a somewhat happy ending. FromSoft is brutal

                            • Anonymous

Some merchants play beautiful songs on their violins, including a section of the Gerhman's theme. Don't kill them because you will miss out on beautiful music

                              • Anonymous

The frustrating part of these games is how sometimes an NPC will simply disappear without saying where they're going, and you either have to stumble upon them in this huge world by luck or Google where the **** they went to so that you can continue a questline. Diallos is a perfect example. One minute he's at the roundtable, all he asks of you is to look for his servant, then he just disappears. Why make the game more difficult than it already is lol

                                • Anonymous

I swear to ****ing christ, soulsborne fandom is riddled with the whiniest bunch of entitled pricks I've ever heard of. You lot really make the world a shittier place. Now go ahead and downvote me into oblivion, ya buncha incel edgelords. I'm gonna go enjoy this incredible game (and I'll try to stop reading comments on fex, but it'd also be cool if y'all would quit being actual cretins).

I killed every merchant i could find, for their stuff :D
That was very tiresome though, so after that i went home and played some Elden Ring.

                                    • Anonymous

I like how there are two different NPC sections on this page: Merchants/Trainers, and every other NPC... yet there's like 6 different merchants in the "Other" section (Patches, Gowry, Gostoc, Blackguard, Seluvis, and literally the merchant with the largest and most important inventory in the ****ing game: Twin Husks)
Or why is Rennala in the Trainer section? Like maybe on a technicality sure, but then why would she be a trainer and not MELINA the npc that ****ing levels you???

                                      • Anonymous

D., Beholder of Death is listed twice. The one in the merchant section should be listed as "D., Hunter of Death"

I figured out triggers that move some NPCs. Do I really need to register to contribute? Anyone willing to help edit?

Littlefinger... 2 finger.. 3 fingers.. and "Hand of the king"

George Martin will "create" the "4 fingers" soon.

"A strange blue character players encounter at Church of Elleh." Wow, they got Sonic in this game? I mean, I guess it makes sense he'd try to find the Elden Ring.

I have been trying to do research to find out but can't seem to find anything, does anyone know why lore wise there seems to be 2 of every character, the ones you meet as NPC's that you chat to and they nearly all seem to have a red invasion version that will attack you at certain locations like Millicent is an NPC at the top of a hill in Caelid with a questline and she is pure friend. Also in Caelid at the bottom in the Scarlett rot swamp a red version of her will attack you. According to NPC's and stories these invading characters are canon in the world as you have to fight several of them that know NPC's like Eleanora with Yura or the fight against Dungeater with Boggart but I can't seem to find any lore reason as to why there seem to be so many evil clones.

there is a sick mage in the table of lost grace wearing a brown hat in the area you drop down to fight the bloody fingers.....who is he??? he is obviously sick as his only dialog is coughing...!!!!

Im about to go to NG+ and came to this page to check which NPC's i can kill for their gear or whatever... turns out 99% of them already died of... uh.. natural causes :/

the only 3 surviving ones (not counting merchants) for me are Miriel, Varre and Gowry.

(the extent of informations you will get from the npcs...)

D, Hunter of Death's name is Darius. His twin underground, D, Beholder of Death is named Devin. They never say their own names, but mention each others. Darius only mentions his brothers name after dying from the player. I suggest calling them these names on the wiki though, out of confusion.

                                                          • Anonymous

                                                            Fun tip:
If you see messages on the ground saying things like "friend" "lovable sort" etc, implying there is an possible NPC here at some point, make sure you mark that spot down! and come back now and then to check for storylines. Much more fun and engaging then looking up guides.

Just seems like for a vast world, you get a lot of the same enemies, rarely with something new late game. I wouldn't mind if they keep updating and in two years there were 30 more npc's added, it would make a big difference imo. Another jar guy named jeff, I don't really care, just something more.

Quests are easy to miss, generally pretty boring, and generally have little to do with the 'story'.

They want you to explore, but at the same time they're really finicky about you doing the exploring in the correct order. It's the same issue Dark Souls had but cranked up to eleven. They've blindly been using the same system since Demon's Souls, where it actually made sense.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

They should really just make it so nothing is really missable, that you can finish questlines in any order and at the end of the game, and that any rewards can be acquired through tougher, alternative means. Make all of the NPCs immortal or at least revivable and aggression-absolvable (if they drop good loot). FromSoft, get it together one of these days and patch this stuff. It's infuriating and indefensible. It's not "replay value". It's rage.
