Nomadic Merchant Notes and Tips

  • Additional Notes & Tips go here
  • If the Player kills a Nomadic Merchant, the Merchant drops a Bell which can be given to the Twin Maiden Husks. Then the Twins can sell the same items as the now-dead Nomadic Merchant. Allowing the Player to restock at the Roundtable instead of running around and trying to figure out where to buy what.

Trivia

  •  Several merchants play an instrument with a consistent tune. In the Cathedral of the Forsaken, just above the Frenzied Flame Proscription, a non-hostile NPC plays a similar tune, on a similar instrument. In addition, several merchants, when fought, use Frenzied Flame incantations.
  • The description of the Nomadic Merchant's Set reads: These merchants once thrived as the Great Caravan, but after being accused of heretical beliefs, their entire clan was rounded up and buried alive far underground. Then, they chanted a curse of despair, and summoned the flame of frenzy.
  • The instrument used by the merchants seems to be a fictional version of a rebab that is played in a unique position and sounds like a violin. The bow of the instrument is used as a weapon when provoked and does not exist as equipment for the player.

So the ones with masks are actually blind i pushed him away from his spot and he used his slappy stick as an actual cane and made clicking noises.

Legend has it there's one merchant who'll teach you shamisen lessons so you can finally beat Takeshi's Challenge.

hundreds of hours in before I learned that they can actually mount the donkey in combat. Or at least the one in the weeping peninsula can!

I need the mask that some of these guys have. Y'know, the weird square thing. That thing looks surprisingly cool and my little rat brain wants it in my collection.

There is no merchant at the cathedral of the forsaken, is there??? The main walkthrough doesn’t sat there is one

              • *accuses random nomadic tribe of heretical beliefs*

*buries them alive underneath the sewers of Leyndell with no sunlight*

*entire tribe goes nuts and summons the frenzied flame*

"Why would the nomads do this?"

I wish it was possible to use the nomaidc merchant's instrament as a weapon, or at least be able to play music with it.

                    "Please don't hurt me!

I said don't hurt me! Aaaargh!

How could you... what have i ever done?

                    Heh heh..."

This dude is hilarious for a merchant that try't to defend it self.

I still say people who are too lazy to walk 2 centimeters to get to these merchants should get a 7th and forced NG ending for killing them, just all of them banding together around your location and merking your lazy ass to the next NG run.

you know, something was always off about these guys. didnt expect them to be proselytizers of the frenzied flame.. wish ikilled every single one i came across

Does anyone know what the instrument these guys play is called? It looks kind of like a cross between a banjo and a violin.

So mamy slaves to the Golden Order calling these guys evil, they were forsaken by the entire world beforehand.

I was hoping for a list of all their items here so I could just ctrl+F to find what I need. Having to find who sells which arrows sucks. Making them is worse, since you need RNG to kill an animal that only drops 1 when you need 3 to make 10 when strong enemies need 100, or 28 thin bone beast drops.

Anybody know if the enemy merchants after the Mohg boss fight in the Lyndel sewers drop their instrument as a weapon?

                                  • Anonymous

I mean, they're literal Satanists who wish for the end of all existence. But they're still nice to me so I won't kill them for their Beal Bearings.

If you kill merchants do the prices of items at other merchants go up? Asking because something similar was in DS3 if you killed old Shrine Handmaid that sells you stuff after she respawns prices for items that she sells go up.
If not then when you finish game and before going in to NG+ killing all merchants and giving there bells to Twin Maiden Husks whud be best for NG+ and beyond. You can buy items all at same place.

anybody know how to get the items that are in the tents along the walls going down the giant hole full of merchant carcasses?

the merchant's set (chapeau, finery, and trousers) all mention the nomadic merchants being in a Great Caravan, but being buried alive in a tomb for their heretical beliefs, and that they chanted a curse of despair which summoned the flame of frenzy

A bit of damage has been done pre-1.03, now I have to finish the job.
Poor santas, but screw the one near Mohg, catch-rolls for days and absurd health.

If you pan the camera around on the ones without masks (e.g. Kale) you can see that their eyes are bright yellow, similar to the player's when they inherit the flame of frenzy.
Given that they also cast frenzy incantations and the whole pit below the cathedral bit there appears to be some connection to the flame, but the fact that any of them are still...well lucid in the slightest suggests otherwise.

I killed one merchant and they disappeared. All of them. Just butterflies on the spots where they used to be.

You're missing a Nomadic Merchant located in the "Swamp of Aeonia" region. They're just east of the Astray from Caelid Highway North site of grace.
