Elden Ring Opaline Bubbletear Notes & Tips

  • Increases all damage negation types by 90% for 3 minutes or until hit
    • If guarding with a shield, the bubble will not pop on hit.
      • This requires a shield with 100% damage negation.
    • If guarding while two-handing, the bubble will pop on hit.
  • Damage negation stacks with Uplifting Aromatic, but the number of hits until it breaks is unchanged.
  • See Buffs and Debuffs for more information on stacking buffs.

  • You can find Crystal Tears at the bases of Minor Erdtrees and elsewhere throughout the Lands Between
  • At sites of grace, you can mix two crystal tears in the Flask of Wondrous Physick (This will allow you to create elixirs with various custom effects)

They should change this to instead "activate" (pop) when you receive an attack that does more than 30% of your hp in one hit. It should then use the 90% damage negation on that hit. For example if you have 1000 hp and are taking hits that take away 100 hp each hit, the bubble doesn't pop or do anything. If you take an attack that would take 350 hp away from you after damage calculations, it is instead reduced to 35 hp lost and the bubble pops. This actually makes it useful in surviving 1-3 shot attacks from bosses/players, instead of just bursting over a throwing knife or a hollow punching you.

I've had this on my physick for all of my 200 hours and I just now learned that the effect goes away after one hit. I assumed it slightly negated damage for like 3 minutes. wow this is useless

Useless. Use the "Second chance" tear instead, the one that refills your health when you near death.
This thing goes pop as soon as I reach for the little knives in my pocket.

Huuuuge help if you are doing a lvl 1 run of ng, being able to take a whole hit instead of getting one shot is a literal lifesaver

Absolutely useless in PvP. Any chip, any wheeze in your direction or FAN DAGGERs, even if you dodge perfectly, will pop this open. You are better off with something else (or literally anything else in this case)

I still see this a lot in duals where it’s basically useless against serious players, fan daggers will pop this in heartbeat even if you’re quickstepping/BHSing around. Maybe better for invasions, in my experience co-opers don’t tend to carry a bunch of knives and throwables. Crimson bubbletear is way better than this for PVP.

In PVE this is a godsend especially for strength builds, give you one free trade for a big charge attack or a hard hitting weapon art. This + crimson bubble is a good generalist option that gives you 2 free ****ups which can be really nice if none of the other tears suits your build better.

Considering buff stacking, Opaline Bubbletear or Uplifting Aromatic? I wonder which buffs uplifting aromatic overwrites, and which opaline bubbletear overwrites.

i.e can you use opaline bubbleteae/uplifting aromatic with Flame Grant Me Strength and Golden Vow?

I noticed that this entirely negated damage from the baleful shadow when blocking. Usually his attacks apply some kind of damaging affect that can chip through your shield, but if this is active, you don't take this damage if you block with a shield that negates physical damage, and it stays active until you take a hit or 3 minutes pass.

Haven't tested it, but I wonder if it also negates poison or bleed damage when applied through shields.

I prefer the lloyd shield talisman over this. If you get hit you most likely can heal to full hp with 1 flash and get the shield effect again.

If you use this and block an attack, the damage you receive will still be heavily reduced, but the bubble and its effects won’t go away. So as long as you keep blocking, you’re pretty much invincible for the full duration of the effect.

honestly feel like this is overrated in aloooot of scenarios, for bosses its very hard to use this against the move you really want to use it against unless the boss you are against has one specific move thats giving you trouble. In pvp its almost entirely useless because it can be popped by thorn dmg or throwing knives.

Whenever its popped by a move that woudnt have oneshot you either way its technically just a flask charge saver, and the crimson bubbletear does that but easier to use for the right stuff.
Not trying to say that this is useless though, definitely has some value but personally i prefer the crimson bubbletear.

Best thing about this one is this tear helps you tank one hit from the insta-kill spiky chariots in the dungeons.

This is best in slot to me but i got hit by a high level dragon and the hit did half my health through the bubble They hit so hard

This tear is... AMAZING. It gives you 1 "get out of death free" card for when Radahn tries to steal your lunch money.

Great for going up against a boss that does big single hits especially right at the start of the fight which can put you on the back foot as you are scrambling for an opening to heal. Not so great against groups or enemies that to lots of small attacks. Combined with a strength boost tear you can go on the attack and tank through the first hit and hopefully land enough damage to get your first stun/poise break. Also if underlevelled it turns a boss that can 1 shot you to 2 shots doubling your chances.

this is insane, you can use it to tank instakill attacks that you dont know how to dodge and take just arround 5% of your HP in damage

                                      • Anonymous

This tear makes you take only a bit of damage (probably a constant amount or % of max HP) instead of full damage, blocks only 1 hit.
