These are goated early game. I poison invaders easily with like 3-4 of them. But why can we only keep 40 of them man

For those reading: Are these worth it?

The question back is: Are you running a Poison and/or Arcane build?

I play both PVE and PVP on a bandit dagger / bow arcane build. What you probably know is there are a few different versions of "poison" with "deadly poison" from serpent's arrows being a higher poison than the poison applied from these.

However both poisons share the same status bar, which is where these come into play, as you can pepper your opponent rather effectively with these while on the defensive and then pop them with a serpent's arrow, effectively instantly poisoning them before switching to the offensive.

With high arcane you can abuse this quite effectively, as these can "chain" with your attacks, just use em once or twice and your opponent is in trouble if you switch to a weapon that applies poison.

so useless no one thought of doing approximative tests…. can’t even tell if with 50arc is worth it paired with poison bombs that already inflict like 250 poison per bomb and they’re easy to craft…………….. poisom have never been so weak in souls series, there’s too many enemies with over 1k hp to have a use beside cheesing targets…… i miss DS2 poison that felt satisfying to let the afflicted die from rotting from the inside ( estimated and from memory: 40dmg/s )…..your weapons dealt trash damage but when it procs…. oh boy was it satisfying ( especially with the poison/toxic dagger )

They cost 120 each from the Aeonia Swamp Shore merchant. The recipe actually makes 5 of them at a time, so if you have the Bone Peddler's Bell Bearing to buy Thin Beast Bones for 150 each, that comes out to 60 runes per Dart, though you'll need to farm the Poisonbloom yourself.

From a bit of testing I did based on Fextra's poison res for Limgrave mobs and bosses, it seems like they do about 53-62 buildup per Dart at the base 7 ARC on a Vagabond-class character. I'm assuming that STR/DEX don't increase the buildup, though, so I COULD be wrong there.

I find the lack of solid information on its poison buildup disappointing, as I lack the means to test it myself

A very helpful item to draw enemy's attention from your teammates in PVE, with an aux effect of poison to add up.
Highly recommended to have it in your slot when you're doing coop mutiplayer.

The greatest advantage of this weapon is accessibility. Easy to use on any build, fast throwing speed and craftable means you have a low effort means to access poison on any character. It can proc just fine on enemies you can spam darts on. It's not how powerful it is, it's simply having an easy means to apply a answer to a situation where you may need it (poison a tough boss from far to kite, used as a projectile to attract attention, clearing land squirts, trying to finish proccing poison when the enemy backs off).

                  • It took me 6 darts to poison the Draconic Tree Sentinel outside of Leyndell. My relevant stats are 15 Str, 15 Dex, 10 Arc. If the Draconic Tree Sentinel has 154 poison resistance like the wiki says, that means the Poisonbone Darts do between 26 and 30 poison damage (closed interval, aka 26 <= damage <= 230, aka [26, 30]). If the poison status dissipates at all in the time it takes to throw 6 darts (seems likely), then the actual value might be between 27 and 31 (or even more) poison damage. So, to be safe, it can be said that the dart does between 26 and 31 poison damage.
