Pumpkin Helm is a Helm in Elden Ring. Pumpkin Helm is an individual piece and doesn't belong to any set. This helm can reduce damage from headshots and impacts. Helms protects the player's head by applying various defensive properties, it also changes the appearance as well when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.
An oval helmet large enough to cover any head.
Very heavy and very hard.
Reduces damage from headshots and impacts.
The inside of the helm is pitch black, keeping the crazed warrior within from panicking.
Perhaps its rather roomy interior also helps alleviate feelings of pressure and claustrophobia.

Elden Ring Pumpkin Helm Notes & Tips
- Reduced 30% damage taken and impact of headshots (buff on self).
- Sell Value: 100 Runes.
- Base drop rate is 3% (at 100 Discovery)
- This is the heaviest helmet in the game along with the Greatjar.
- Arrows, Throwing Daggers, and some Ashes of War can headshot the player, thus making this an effective albeit hefty counter measure.
- Poise Updated to patch 1.07

You're telling me this doesn't increase resistance to madness? Missed opportunity.

Extremely useful against promised consort radhan. Most of the time he's swords touch your head or somewhere close to it.

I had no idea this was rare... i came here to see if there was any drawbacks from wearing it. I got it first kill of a guy on a bridge near the beginning ( I just started, this is like my 3rd item I've acquired). I kill him with Glintstone Arc as astrologer

I've played the game for over 700 hours and never had this drop on any of my playthroughs.

I think I received it after killing one of them near the aeonia swamp. The mad pumpkin was among some soldiers and nobles. I remember an window spawning on the screen telling I gained that helm. I think it is 100% garanteed in that case, I'm not sure. I didn't see that mad pumpkin head mentioned in the page.
- Anonymous
Farmed this for an hour at 200 discovery and still no drop, nobody can convince me they have worse odds than me
- Anonymous
How can someone even see while wearing it? Imagine the pain of being hit in the helmet, the noise of metal vibrating all around your head. Now you know why they are called mad pumpkin head.
- Anonymous
kinda wish these dudes had like a second phase where they end up smashing the pumpkin and then going ballistic

Hitboxes are just weird - this does reduce damage a good amount if an attack hits your head first, which is kinda rare. Take advantage of it with low-profile movesets. The new Beast Claws might be perfect in this respect as your character is consistently lurched forward and practically on all fours.

All 5 of my characters wear this helm. All hail the lineage of Jizzy!
- Anonymous
Wanted this for a new build and got it first try on Saintsbridge. Pumpkin head has chosen me

Completely counters throwing daggers and other throwing weapons, and is a 10/10 drip
- Anonymous
Can someone please confirm if this reduces all damage that hits the character’s head, not just projectiles?

When I use Pumpkin Helm, I always pair it w/ the Fire Prelate set. Pumpkin Helm w/ the Altered Prelate set looks best imo
Pumpkin Helm + Night's Cavalry + Grave Scythe = Pumpkin Grim Reaper

I somehow managed to get 2 of these without trying, along with almost all of Godrick Knight Armour set (only the helmet is missing, conveniently enough), very early on during my first playthrough. So far, none of the other equipment have been able to replace any of these.

I got it in my first pumpkin head kill somehow and it is the best helm I have got till now in atlus plateau. It's funny how it glitches through everything and Fia's head also comes in while hugging
Looking forward to coming back to the game after the DLC drops, Fell Pumpkinhead will return!

This thing dropped from the pumpkin head in castle mourne on my very first playthough i had. Straight up have not had a single one drop again ever since. No matter now many new characters i make or new game+'s i go into.

Got on my second kill in a playthrough. Wasnt looking for this thing, but now I feel kinda obligated to use it

Careful, might passively increase madness buildup in real life if you decide to farm it
- Anonymous
I'm not sure why this isn't in the wiki but this reduces all damage that hits your head hitbox except during a roll animation. If you use stomp ash of war you character lowers their head and all attacks that hit it will reduce damage.

An excellent helm for Frenzy Flame characters. Partially for the high Focus stat to help you stave off Madness. Mostly for the funny shape that makes you look like a Tesla Coil blasting out yellow lightning.
- Anonymous
The extremely high Focus stat makes this thing fun in Frenzied Flame builds to stave off your self-inflicted Madness buildup.
Also, you look like a Tesla Coil shooting yellow lightning.

It's nice and fun to use, if you're looking to get actual use out of it's passive headshot reducting, don't expect it to really help, but when it does it's nice.
Fun helm and allows for some silly build fasion (basically fatter onion helm) farm/10 would pumpkin again.

The first time i killed the pumpkin dude in Castle Morne, he dropped it. Wow. What luck
- Anonymous
I LOVE this thing. I'm not absolutely sure what counts as a headshot so sometimes I just take a tiny sliver of damage instead of a full hit. It's like having a buff that has a small chance to negate 90% od damage on next hit. Love

Here a tip: The lower the discovery you have the easier it drop, weird right?

i call BS on the 3% drop rate.
i have killed this guy over 200 times with 300 discovery and still not got it.
the magma blade, the fire monk sword. . .i farmed everything , every loot drop from every enemy and none of them have taken this many kills

I got this helmet on my first playthrough on the very first pumpkin head guy. Only now I start to understand how lucky I was back then..

Farming tips from my experience (for Strenght users),
you can oneshot him with Jar Cannon and explosive greatbolts (from Mt. Gelmir merchant) from the site of grace of Saintsbridge,
my Jar Cannon was +10 but I'm pretty sure you don't need that much.
It's pretty consistent, only downside is that sometimes you will miss and lose a bit of time (not that much)
The Pumpkin Head will be a purple drop so you don't have to check everytime, careful tho, the purple drop is not that easy to see from the site of grace.

The Pumpkin Helm also seems to prevent transporter traps from working.

This should have been the symbol of avarice equivalent in ER IMO

this helmet neutralizes madness, you will take damage but there will be no animation that blocks your movement

I've done my own test on how much it reduces headshot damage, and it seems to completely negate it, even getting rid of some stagger levels maybe.
I tested it by using the crossbow man near where the troll jumps at you near the gate. Killed all but one, got rid of all my armour, and let him shoot me.
They rarely get headshots in, but you can force it by hiding behind one of those waist high walls made of bricks and crouch behind them. Once you are fully healed, you stand up and wait for the arrow to come. Right when it's about to land, you crouch down at just the right time for your head to be in the arrows trajectory. You can tell if it's a headshot if your character gets stunned for a good bit and the arrow does more damage.
I then tested this with the pumpkin, and from I have seen, there seems to be no difference in damage between a headshot and normal shot. The stagger from a headshot is also either reduced to a lower level of stagger, or sometimes not applied. BASICALLY pumpkin helm reduces headshot damage to a normal shot. (Haven't tested this with melee weapons or things with infusions, so maybe try that out if you can. Also don't know if there is a PVP modifier or not.)

confirmed on archery: PUMPKIN HELM and CRUCIBLE KNOT TALISMAN don't work together. Also does not reduce damage when hitting the head with a club, but does not stun. It is necessary to check the piercing blows and cutting
- Anonymous
Glad i had this & the knot talisman when that bow build invaded. I had so much head protection he never stood a chance.
Just kidding he killed me with spark aromatic anyways.

Anyone got advice for fashion souls here? I love the goofy look, but idk what to put with it since it's an odd tinge (about equivalent to the ornamental straight swords, weirdly enough)
I'm cosplaying as the pumkinhead ingame under the name "Fell Pumpkinhead". I use the prophet start since the pants go really well with the helm (I just wear the pants and the helm). If I get summoned for something and succeed with a person I've met three times in a row, I give them a pumpkinhead helm as a token of friendship.

Why do people say this is rare? I got like 3 of these in 5 minutes of casual farming when trying out a few new skills
- Anonymous
anybody have some nice fashion to go with this? I can't quite find armor with the right golden color.
- Anonymous
1. Stack with crucible knot.
2. Spam Stamp (Sweep) or Stamp (Uppercut) with preferred weapon.
3. ???
4. Profit.

It's so weird to me that this helmet is a guaranteed drop if you beat the mad pumpkin head that's in the ruins with Sella. This is on patch 1.0.0 btw.
If im wearing this and were to use a war cry ash of war, would it Sound muffled? If so, i might Farm for this.
- Anonymous
Will it reduce damage from the holy laser beams coming from above when you fight the Elden Beast?
- Anonymous
Is the droprate "hardcoded"? Because I got I very early at the bridge from West to East Limgrave. Some of you are farming like hell and don't get it.
To the helm: I used it some time -> Helps against death bird, hawk and giant crow picking attacks. Also against flying Misbegotten. Maybe also against this small "astel-things" which shoot gravity stones at you?
Unsure if this helps for jumping+stomping attacks like from the watchdogs with the colossal sword.
Maybe it is more useful to use this talisman with the same skill, because the weight of this helmet is extreme.

Pumpkin dance pumpkin dance, whatever does it mean?
It means you've got low item discovery : 3
Pumpkin helm will be a purple drop. I have picture proof but I don't know how to show it.
- Anonymous
254 Discovery, took 10 runs (and actually that final run disc was 204 as the silver feet wore off just prior to the kill)
10 Sanctuary Stones
3 Smithing Stone (1)
1 Pumpkin Helm
A few mushrooms too, great for my pot loving Mimic...lol
- Anonymous
took 23 kills at base wretch arcane and silver scarab, just rid over to it at saintsbridge, bonked it with godslayer greatsword and memory of grace'd back, then repeat.
- Anonymous
Quickest farming method I made was using Bolt of Gransax at Saintsbridge. Equip the appropriate talismans and you can one shot him from the edge from the bridge. Look for a purple/white drop. If it's just a white drop it's not the helm. Then either tele if huff it back to the grave. Happy hunting.
- Anonymous
Farmed from the bridge, 87 tries with 184 discovery. Ignore the white flame drops unless you need sanctuary stones, helps save time and maximize tries per silver pickled fowl foot. The flame will be blue when the Helm drops.

>Reduces damage from headshots and impacts.
By how much? And does it help against overhand attacks?

Rise up, ye tarnished, equip this mighty helmet, and become the Elden Gourd.

I appreciate From's continued commitment to letting players wear funny hats, which is, as we all know, the real point of playing these games
- Anonymous
think this should have a bit more increased stats. not often you get headshot unless youre actively trying to use it, even then 12.3 weight for this feels like a bit too much.
- Anonymous
Finding this on my pure strength build was good and bad, on one hand I found the funny pumpkin helmet early (castle morne), on the other hand, I can only wear it and my greatsword because my equip load is too low
- Anonymous
I farmed for the fowl feet for like 20 min, went to the bridge and got it 1st try... Happy about my luck but the time spent farming feet was wasted!
- Anonymous
I was thinking of some unique ability of putting No Skill AoW on your weapon and instead makes this thing do a headslam on the ground. Would be cool if From would do that, it would make No Skill AoW fun in some case.
- Anonymous
This is the perfect counter to thrusting weapon builds. any ash of war that makes you crouch down (I'm specifically using lifesteal fist) will force them to hit your head GREATLY reducing how much poise damage you take.
- Anonymous
I finished at 112 sanctuary stones and finally got it, then the next kill I got another one so about 120ish kills and I got 2 back to back at 157 discovery

10 Base Arcane, Albinauric Mask and Silver Pickled-foul in the Saints Bridge, got it within 10 minutes, not sure how many kills.

Shouldn't this block the madness from that tower in the lakes region?
Do boss attacks get headshot protection? or should I be wearing bernahls or tree sentinels? This page makes it sound like boss fights never hit you in the head unless its throwables or aow. Little more info pls :c
