Elden Ring Radahn's Great Rune Notes & Tips

  • Radahn's Great Rune increases HP, Stamina, and FP by 15%
  • This rune is usually a better option than Godrick's rune once you have reached stat soft caps
    • The health increase from the +5 vigor Godrick's rune provides drops below 15% at 37 vigor.
    • The low per-level increase to stamina from Endurance and the high starting value means Radahn's rune is always better than Godrick's.
    • The FP increase from +5 Mind drops below 15% at 39 mind.
  • This rune is more designed for heavily invested tank builds/heavy FP-dependent builds.

15% extra stamina is like completely unnoticable and irrelevant. 15% extra fp on a melee build will probably give u like 20 extra fp so like 1-2 L2s. the only part that even matters is the 15% hp which is outclassed by morgott's

      • Anonymous

Runes are a resource that From greatly squandered, all they really do is buffing your stats in some way.
Literally the only other one that doesn't do that has such a big downside it's basically detrimental having it active most of the time.

        • Anonymous

Radahn's HP bonus doesn't apply after health increasing buffs like Morgott's rune does, so this rune is more for builds that want extra FP or stamina over more raw HP.

To other people saying that this is only useful once you hit softcaps: Wrong, it's never useful. Early levels obviously it does nothing. Mid levels it still does nothing and godrick's still way outshines. And even when i hit my softcaps and i stop using godrick's radahn's rune is still just a fart in the wind. I'm sorry, but the love of your life is terrible.

            • Anonymous

Godrick's rune is the best for early to mid game. For lategame (RL 90 and onward) it's either this or Morgott's that will get you the most mileage.

I use this for the extra stamina, and not the extra HP or FP. You might think that stamina doesn't matter in Elden Ring, but that's only true for light weapon users who never block. Using Colossal weapons or powerstanced great weapons consume a lot of stamina. Even at 8 endurance, this rune gives you a higher stamina gain than Godrick's Great Rune ever will.

                • Anonymous

we all compare the HP, FP and stamina but forget that Godrick's Great rune could raise a lot of your defense with 40 attributes.

So I just found out that you can run through the scarlet rot in the haligtree completely unencumbered with this rune

                    • I don't know why no one is talking about it, but I tested "resist the encroachment of the scarlet rot"

It acts like a regen getting stronger the closer you are to procing. It can buy you some time to get out.

To simplify preferred great runes based on where you are:

                        Early game: Godrick's
Once at softcaps: Rahdan or Morgott, unless you want to splash other stats, then maybe still Godrick's.
Once ALL softcaps: Rahdan or Morgott

Decided to do some math since I was curious and hadn't seen anyone else do it with up to date info. Here are some numbers I got when comparing (G) Godrick's and (R) Radahn's runes. HP, FP, and Stamina values are with the Great Runes activated at these stat levels. Note that Radahn's is always better for Stamina even at the lowest End you are allowed with the Prophet class, which is nice but probably isn't why you'd want to use it.

                          37 Vig: G=1503 R=1504 / 40 Vig: G=1581 R=1668 / 60 Vig: G=1930 R=2185
                          30 Mnd: G=200 R=199 / 40 Mnd: G=268 R=270 / 50 Mnd: G=328 R=345 / 60 Mnd: G=362 R=403
                          8 End: G=101 R=106 / 25 End: G=121 R=139 / 50 End: G=156 R=178

For HP and FP, the closer you are to the lvl 60 softcaps, the more return you get from Radahn's rune over Godrick's. At those levels, it might also be worth considering buffs that increase HP/FP by percentages, like the Crimsonspill Crystal Tear or the Cerulean Amber Medallion.

if you turn in the remembrance to Enia, can you do anything to go back if say you wanted the starscourge swords instead ? i tried to use the walking mausoleum, but i cannot "copy" the remembrance.

Quit my previous char at lvl 200 and didn't find this GR more beneficial than Godrick's at any time. Maybe if you're lvl 300 it will be better idk.

My rune disappeared out of my inventory, I killed him, it said I got the rune, but then it just isn't there =(

I love how Enia tells us "The demigods are each and all the direct offspring of Queen Marika," while Rykard and Radahn's Great Runes claim they "became demigod stepchildren after Radagon's union with Queen Marika." This is a clear contradiction right? How can Ranni, Rykard, and Radahn be demigods if they're not the direct offspring of Marika? But if you pick up Regression and witness the "skeleton in Radagon's closet..." It's great.

For people having surpassed hp,fp and stamina softcaps this rune is better than godrick's rune as it gives you a percentage based increase in hp fp and stamina, whereas godrick's just +5 your hp fp and stamina, which after surpassing softcaps gives very little hp,fp and stamina. In short, this rune is better at higher levels, the stronger you are, the stronger the rune arc's effect is.

                                    • ! IMPORTANT !

To Activate the Great Rune, from the Grace "Divine Tower of Caelid: Center", head to the RIGHT.

Once you reach the locked 'Door', turn to the left.
The actual door will be there, from which you may ride the elevator upwards.

Godrick's is better considering it boost's your defense stats by 40 levels which makes you tankier than a measley 15% hp boost which Godrick's rune gets you close too anyways. I would probably only use on a close to maxed out character.

                                        • Anonymous

This Rune looks like, HP-wise, it surpasses the Godrick's Rune at about 42 VIGOR when activated Godrick's gives 1623 HP and Radahn's gives 1624 lol after that the HP gap only widens

If you've not empowered the rune yet then it appears in the same section as your keys in the key items section of your inventory and not at the top next to other empowered runes.

I encountered a bug where his great rune is not dropped after defeating him in the festival. I got his remembrance and all, and actually I got the message that I got the rune. It's just not in my inventory

Interesting to note that because you only gain 1-2 points of stamina per level of Endurance, Radahn's Great Rune ALWAYS grants more stamina than Godrick's at any level. Even if you could go as low as 1 Endurance (80 stamina), Godrick's would up that to 85 and Radahn's to 90. The gap only grows wider from there.

                                                  • Anonymous

radahns rune starts getting better than godricks from:
                                                    37 vigor
                                                    45 mind
                                                    any endurance actually
important to note that radahns just gives you stamina, no equip load

Maybe I’m just grasping at straws but I feel this rune is better the stronger you are, coming from the strongest of the demigods. Wjile Godrick’s is better the weaker you are, coming from the weakest of the demigods.

As the lower your stats the more +5 to each stat will impact you, while the higher your stats the more a percent increase to health, endurance, and fp will affect you.

                                                      • Anonymous

Percent is incorrect for at least FP, definitely a bit higher than 12.5%. If it was 12.5% increase I'd be at 220 FP, but after using a Rune Arc I'm actually at 225

                                                        • Anonymous

For anyone out there who realized this like I did, this is literally the Ring of Favor, but in a free wearable form. Yes, you gotta pop arc runes to use it, but the effect is permanent until death, meaning you can survive longer, cast more spells and weapon arts, and carry more equipment (as well as attack longer)!
This may not give free temporary levels like Godricks great rune, but this one really feels like it would help in the long run for those who like having bigger benefits to survivable stats. I might just use this for the entirety of the game!

Hi all. I defeated Radhan but the door is still locked in the divine tower where the rune needs to be activated . Am I missing something? Thanks!

                                                            • Anonymous

Haven't calculated HP, but in regards to FP, this should surpass Godrick's rune only at 45 Mind and above.

                                                              45 Mind + Godrick's = 280 FP
                                                              45 Mind + Radahn's = 281 FP

Of course this is without any other boosts. Stacking other FP bonuses will give Radahn's a bigger lead for being multiplicative afaik.

                                                              • Despite what most ppl here are complaining about, this get better than Godrick's rune as your build approaches the soft cap, since it's a % increase in totals. With 50 to vigor and endurance Godrick's rune falls off hard.

                                                                • Anonymous

"The Great Rune burns, to resist the encroachment of the scarlet rot." and I was naively hoping that it would provide rot immune.

                                                                  • Anonymous

The page states that the great rune is dropped, but needs to be activated at the Divine tower!
Is it really that hard to read?

                                                                    • Anonymous

So basically this is the rune if you hit the 40 lv softcap for Vigor,Endurance and Mind. Still even with hiting the soft caps, godricks still gives you pluses in other things. I guess it's nice of Miyazaki to give people the best rune from the main lord boss you're "ment" to fight first.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Godrick rune fanboys argue with the 40 points. Yet unless you are playing casually and therefore using every stat, you wont effectively benefit from all the stats you get. If I am running a strength build, yes the extra intelligence is going to give me some resistances but no I won't be using it effectively hence I rather take this or morgotts rune

                                                                        • Anonymous

This should be a much bigger boost imho. To give up the other it should be
Giving way more then the first great runes in those three stats

                                                                          • The thing to remember is that, because Godrick's rune gives you stats, it's also giving you defenses and resistances.

While Godrick's may give you a lower HP value, it's possible that it's effectively the same HP, due to your increased defenses. I'm sure one is situationally better than the other, but that's such a vague margin that I don't even think it's worth trying to make an argument for this rune.

If you really need the higher numbers, use it, but do realize you're basically throwing away what is effectively 40 free levels from Godrick's rune.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Lol people don't know simple math or remember there's caps? Yeah at low lvl godricks wins.. when you're soft capped all over though.. this will jack max pools way more... Remember all 3 cap at 50+ now... I think 58 bit still gives over 20hp..

                                                                              • This rune is only worth it once you get past 37 vigor, as Godricks Rune will take you to 1503 HP, and then Radahn's takes you to 1504. It gives you a 15% HP boost, 15% FP boost, and a 15% Stamina boost. In general Godrick's will be way better as it gives you a general stat boost as well until you get past 37 in vigor and other related stats. Will probably be great for NG+

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  With 40 Vigor:
Godrick's Rune takes you from 1450 HP to 1581 HP (from 40 Vigor to 45 Vigor)
Radahn's Rune takes you from 1450 HP to 1667 HP (15% increase on HP)

                                                                                  • Anonymous

This Rune is honestly really bad.
With 30 Vigor and 20 Mind, Godrick's rune raises my max HP by 62 higher (1355 vs 1293) and my FP by 13 (139 vs 123). The only stat that goes up is my stamina, and that's only by 6 points (I have not levelled my Stamina at all).
Godrick's Rune also raises your other stats, though. So Godrick's beats out Radahn's at everything, even things Radahn's meant to be better at.

It increases health by a multiplier of 15%, fp 12,5% and stamina 13% (all are estimated valued give or take half a %)

Meaning for tank builds and/or higher levels can be a significant increase compared to godricks great rune

Fun fact: the multiplier is multiplicative on other equipment that boost fp/hp or stamina

                                                                                              • Anonymous

There is no stat increase for me. In my game all it says is you gain health when you hit enemies but that isn't true either. It only activates when you kill them.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                  • I defeated him but the rune is not in my inventory, I can extract the rememberances but the rune itself is missing. Will it magically appear once I get to the divine tower or is this bugged?

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                                      • Anonymous
