Remembrance of the Rot Goddess is a Consumable Item in Elden Ring. Most Consumables grant various effects such as restorative properties for recovering HP, removing certain negative status effects or applying temporary buffs and debuffs, while others can be thrown at enemies to deal damage.
Remembrance of Malenia, Goddess of Rot, hewn into the Erdtree.
The power of its namesake can be unlocked by the Finger Reader.
Alternatively, it can be used to gain a great bounty of runes.
Miquella and Malenia are both the children of a single god. As such they are both Empyreans, but suffered afflictions from birth. One was cursed with eternal childhood, and the other harbored rot within.

English & 日本語
黄金樹に刻まれた
腐敗の女神、マレニアの追憶
ミケラとマレニアは、唯一人の神の子供である
故に二人は神人であるが、その生は脆弱であり
一方は永遠に幼く、一方は腐敗を宿した
Carved into the Golden Tree
Goddess of Rot, Recollection of Malenia
Miquella and Malenia, are children of a single god
because of this, the pair are god people, but, their lives are frail
one, is forever immature, the other carries rot
Note: Official English vs. 日本語
• In 日本語, they are described as being:
脆弱 「ぜい・じゃく」(zei・jyaku)
脆 = brittle, frail, sentimental, easy to beat (i.e. the body is easy to enter, whether it's pathogens... or overly sentimental)
弱 = weak
> So it can be seen why the official translation would go with: "cursed"
Yet, for anyone that's heard "I am Malenia. Blade of Miquella,"
...for the 100th time... knows that at least one of the twins is far... far... from "weak" or "easy to beat."

I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella. I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella. I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

So Malenia and Miquella were of a specific demigod race born from Radagon and Marika- who were a single entity and likely had the same "DNA"- and both ended up with debilitating health problems...
I think their family Erdtree is a straight line - a common issue with medieval royal families it would seem

For all of you hat can't duplicate this and other rememberances. Some of them may be duplicated only at the more advanced mausoleums, like the ones at consecrated snowfield.
So afaik, you can't get the same reward twice in a single playthrough. However, can you dupe this remembrance at a mausoleum, then go to enia and get the first sword, start ng+, kill godrick and get the second sword from the duped remembrance? Or do you have to beat malenia in ng+ again to get the second sword?

this is what you get for finally beating malenia:
1) A sword that is useless in a strength build
2) a incantation that is extremely useless

Can anyone confirm if the translation from the japanese is the same for the description? If it is the same that mean the claim that Empyreans is a title given by the 2 fingers is false, right here it clearly mention that the demigod has to be a child from a single god. Ranni is also empyrean meaning she is from Marika/Radagon and not Radagon/Rennala, but Rennala might be her adopted mother. If the translation is wrong for english that mean the claim Empyrean is a title given by the 2 fingers is accurate, that mean Ranni is Rennala daughter.

Turns out, you can duplicate certain boss rememberances more than once at different mausoleums. I did this with the Lord of Blood one between Raya Lucaria's two mausoleums (or at least it allowed me to do so).

sorry for the long one but i have a therory
we might see a duality for malenia might be true
her title is Malenia Blade of Miquella
she has never been defeated before
its said that Malenia and Miquella were the closest Emyprans to achieving Godhood
We the Tarnished are the Force that Pushes Malenia over the edge and helps her become a god
Phase 2 isn't her becoming enraged or desperate, ITS the Birth of a NEW GOD
Her title for Phase 2 is Malenia, Goddess of Rot
the scarlet rot was made by an outer God much the same way the elden ring was made by the greater will and Malenia in phase 2 fully inherriets that power much the same way Marika inherited the greater will
Malenia is a full goddess we will either see her again or or male counter part that is now fresh and new to the world

I went to a bell mausoleum. To try and duplicate Malena’s grace. And it wouldn’t show up as an option. Which mausoleum do I have to go to to duplicate it?

For those who can't duplicate, I finally figured it out. All you do is go to the walking mausoleum in the Deepest Depths area (sleep in coffin after gargoyle fight). You can't hit his feet, you have to run up tree branches to get on top of him and break off the white stuff from up there.

i seem to be unable to duplicate this at a walking mausoleum
