Rivers of Blood is a Katana in Elden Ring. The Rivers of Blood scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity, and Arcane and is a good Weapon for mid-range combat and it is capable of inflicting both Slash and Pierce attacks. The scaling was fixed in an update
Weapon of Okina, swordsman from the Land of Reeds.
A cursed weapon that has felled countless men.
When Mohg, the Lord of Blood, first felt Okina's sword, and madness,
upon his flesh, he had a proposal, to offer Okina the life of a demon, whose thirst would never go unsated.

- Rivers of Blood is most likely inspired by Muramasa, a swordsmith in Japan from the 16th century. Legend says that Muramasa's swords were cursed and demonic in power, causing bloodlust to those who wield it.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, Katanas poise damage has been reduced only on PVP.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

Do you tremble at the sight of RoB spamming casuls?
Do you hate dying?
Do you want to play this game to it's fullest?
THAN YOU NEED THE PRODIGIOUS PKCS
THE BEST WEAPON IN THE UNIVERSE

Just to be sure : my mate (he's a casual gamer) want to play this weapon in PVE for his run.
Does it worth or it's definitely became a shitty weapon ?
Rivers of blood spammers are much more tolerable than berserk references. At least they can die
- Anonymous
pvp tryhards destroyed the game; they made fromsoft nerf things on pve so many players leave the game, yet they will always complain about pvp because this is what they do

"it is a bad weapon, good players adapt" Well according to this logic no weapon is broken, just adapt. This weapon is still top tier regardless of what self claimed meta duelist say, it is a katana which makes it S tier + ash of war is broken, even if people "adapt" to the ash of war, the fact that this is a katana still makes it S tier and. People think every rivers of blood user will spam the ash of war, which is not the case, just time it right and not spam it lol. Weapon is broken to this day, the only people who try to ignore this fact are the ones who use this to earn some simple wins

Corpse piler really didn't need all those nerfs. All it needed was a moderate health drain effect on use kinda like bloody slash. Just something to make it less spamable.

I like this weapon, the Arcane family of weapons look so beautiful (Eleonora's Twinblade, Bloody Helice, Mogh's Spear) but wish this had a less cheesy Ash of War. Something like a self buff ala Sir Alonne's katana or a unique dash and combo like Eleonora's or the Helice would had been fantastic. I know you can just use an Uchi with sepukku or whatever, but I like the aestethics and fire damage of the RoB.

This should've sapped your HP very slightly w/ each attack like the Chaos Blade from Dark Souls. Not because I dislike this weapon or anything, they just don't have an equivalent in this game and feel this would've been be a prime candidate as it's so iconic and befitting of the weapon's cursed nature itself.
- Anonymous
Don't like the weapon itself, but DAMN does that scabbard look good.

This thing still shreds in pve tbh. Well worth investing your smithing stones here.

PvE: "It's cool but makes everything way too easy. It just doesn't feel right to win this way... okay, as a last resort to deal with frustrating and annoying stuff."
PvP: "Wuhaaaa, all these mean pewple I invade to rob them of joy so can feel something inside, won't let me gank them. NERF THIS, NOW!!!!"

It may not be godlike anymore, but man this is SO annoying when some no-life gank squad pulls up to suck the fun out of invading

i dont get why people complain about this in PVP. If YOU invade someone and they have ROB, that is YOUR fault. They can do whatever they want.
So Raiden sold my katana to fromsoftware instead of letting wolf bury it?

Stop being monkey brain by spamming the weapon art if you use it as an actual weapon then it’s still a great katana
- Anonymous
Is there any explanation as why the blade is so chipped? Is it just from all the fighting from Okina?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I have massive respect for people who use this weapon properly in PVP. I roll my eyes every time someone continues to press L2 after I’ve already rolled 3 miles away from them.
- Anonymous
i watched oroboro's 1st playthrough of elden ring (i'm guess he had a review copy) and saw that ROB did have faith scaling and no arcane scaling, imo they should've kept it like that coz imo ROB wouldn't have been nerfed so hard then if it stayed at 50 bleed like Melania's katana and we would FINALLY have a faith scaling katana but fromsoft were like 'nope' lmao
- Anonymous
Fun weeb fact: RoB is actually a tachi, an older style of the katana. The scabboard should have its edge faced downward instead upward like the normal katanas you see in the game. But From is being From i guess.
- Anonymous
Would like to see Dex and Arc scalings get swapped, weapon is in a fine position.

I’m finally trying this weapon. But I haven’t get the gist of how good the weapon is. I’m so used to fast attacking weapons like claws, and I’m still struggling to use this.

The blade of cringe, my first fight against someone using this they immediately spam the WA after which I wacked them to a pulp. That was the first pvp match I won and generally I suck against bleed builds. Everyone crying about this weapon being nerfed, it's still good just stop spamming the WA and actually learn how to use the weapon.
- Anonymous
On one hand Jetstream Sam build on the otherhand people hate ROB
- Anonymous
People used to pay real life money for this instant win button pre nerf. Some people are just genuine graveyard ghouls.
- Anonymous
Is it just me or doesn't it gain a damage boost when bleed occurs?

Like it or not...It was the most unique, interesting and a blast to use weapon in the game. Then Fromsoft nerfs it? Way to go, take the coolest most unique weapon in Eldin Ring and turn it into a basic Katana with a ash of war. I get the pvp crybaby's and its pointless need to play pvp. But in pve it helped manage a underleveled player through a tough game not using a walk through. Glad I got to enjoy it in its original state. Made it feel just like the lore explains. Its now a shell of its former self and Fromsoft should be ashamed. I feel sorry for new players as they will never enjoy it as intended from the creator. It was not mindless to use, one still needed skills to win especially at low levels. Rest in peace ROB.
- Anonymous
can't get over how ****ing cool the sheathe on this weapon is
- Anonymous
Even after the nerf this actually still a really good weapon. The key though is to not rely on the WA. Treat it like a regular katana, and use the art as mix ups, or free aim to catch people. It also still melts bosses who are weak to fire, and bleed.
- Anonymous
Making a bleed/dex build are we? Put these foolish ambitions to rest, the nerf has smoldered its meager flame.
- Anonymous
Due to the nerf you actually have to time your use of corpse piler and hit people up close to deal significant damage. I really like where the weapon is currently as when used well it can still be pretty strong just not super OP anymore (Dropped from SSS+ tier to A+). Unfortunately the reputation of the weapon has been permanently tarnished due to how it used to be.

Why they nerf this? Use to be good when kill the invader with my freind both use this one…sad now is useless…I will stick to use the nagnatas with bleed or godskim peler…
- Anonymous
The name of the sword based on the characters that composes it is like "Mountains of Corpses, Rivers of Blood". Very edgy. Cool name.
- Anonymous
They need to make this weapon deal self dmg like chaos blade . We need chaos blade on this game
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
doesn't have the show-stopping poise damage power of moonveil, which is a shame, because I could imagine this thing being a beast at anti-ganking with its wide coverage.

you would not believe how many hosts I've helped with the final boss who just spam L2 with this despite both phases being immune to bleed lmao

Double Slash Nagakiba is just a direct upgrade to this (better damage, no split damage, better hitbox, better scaling, not useless against bleed resistant bosses)

Pulling an okina and powestancing this with the wakizashi for that sweet sweet dagger parry. This setup right here gives me drip, lets me dual wield as well as parry, and because it's got arcane I can cast both incants and sorceries also. Build's got it all baby.
- Anonymous
Pros: looks cool, swish swish sounds
Cons: low split damage, awful range except with the AoW that will do a total of 20 damage without the blade hitting, useless against anything resistant to bleed, parry bait in PvP

Rivers in mainhand: barbaric, predictable, thoughtless, embarrassing

After completing the game with a greatsword, I tried to play using this katana and found out that the game became much more challenging. Colossal weapons like the greatsword deal high damage, break enemy defenses with ease (I even killed Malenia on my second attempt with a greatsword and the mimic), and are able to block a significant amount of incoming damage. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if katanas are simply more difficult to use.

I’m glad of the nerfs tbh
It weeded out the people who only used it because it’s meta and left only the collection of Based Jetstream Samuel Cosplayers to revel in the newfound purity of the ROB fanbase
- Anonymous
started a new playthrough, and i came back to my boy RoB. the weapon art is just too good to deny in pve. and the comedy of seeing boss heath bars explode when i pull in a +10 mimic is the cherry on the top.
- Anonymous
I never used this weapon for the hate it earned in the community, but seen it hundreds of times when invading, and I gotta say, if you didn't learn to counter it at this point, the problem lies in you. Yes, there are situations where rivers spam is just unavoidable death, but hyperarmor, parry, poise and many other methods exist that are super effective against these. I kind of feel like most tryhards just use this weapon's existance as a cheap excuse to justify using equally broken (if not more broken) stuff like dual bleed lances with bloodhound step and sleep (which is a carried by the phantom hit glitch and hopefully will get fixed btw).
- Anonymous
People who used ROB has a skill issue. people who wanted it nerfed also has a skill issue. people who never spammed the AoW of ROB and never complained about it either are the true legends and deserve respect.
- Anonymous
It doesn't matter how much FromSoft needs this thing anymore. The legend has been carved into our hearts, never to be forgotten.
Still a really good weapon though, lol

Really wish you could put Unsheathe on this to complete the Jetstream Sam cosplay. And the AoW is the main thing people complain about anyway, so it would make it possible to use this weapon honestly in PvP too.
- Anonymous
Look how they massacred my boy.
From should undo the nerfs now that they have separated PvE and PvP balancing, from what I understand PvP was the reason it was nerfed to begin with. I get that the weapon was stupidly strong in PvE, but you get it so late-game it's w/e.
RoB is the sword of noobs
