Roar Medallion is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Roar Medallion increases the damage of roars and breath attacks by 15%. Players can use talismans in Elden Ring to boost a variety of Stats.

A bronze medallion depicting a roaring giant.
Enhances roars and breath attacks.

In ancient times, the giants were mortal enemies of the Erdtree.
Their bellowing roars desolated nature, triggered avalanches, and whipped up storms of flame.

Roar Medallion Effect in Elden Ring

Roar Medallion increases the damage of roar, cry, or shriek skill attacks by 15% in PVE (7.5% in PVP), as well as the unique moves granted to weapons these skills are used with (see notes section below for more details), and increases the damage of breath-based attacks by 10% in PvE and 5% in PvP.

Elden Ring Roar Medallion Notes & Tips

  • Sell value: runes currency elden ring wiki guide 18 500
  • Increases the damage of heavy and charged heavy attacks made under the effect of War Cry, Barbaric Roar, Regal Roar and Shriek of Milos by 15%, as well as the two-handed heavy attacks and charged heavy attacks made under the effect of Braggart's Roar. Does not affect heavy jump attacks. This effect stacks with the buffs from the Spiked Cracked Tear and Axe Talisman.

  • Stacks with the passive effect from the Highland Axe. The Highland Axe will also give its buff to the main-hand weapon while in the off-hand slot when a cry- or roar-type Ash of War is used with the main-hand weapon, even when two-handing that weapon.

  • As of patch 1.09, this talisman now raises damage of various breath based incantations by 10% in PvE and 5% in PvP. Damage increases now apply to: All Dragon Communion incantations, except Dragonmaw and DragonclawAspect of the Crucible: Breath and the laser beam attack stage of Placidusax's Ruin. Firebreather's damage is not affected.

This appears to also affect the initial explosion of the grafted dragon weapon skill bear witness since the bug was patched. Also seems to affect the flame missile projectiles produced by it, not sure if the fire pools left behind also benefit

Not worth it for dragon communion incantations unless you stack it with flock's, as dragonmaw and dragonclaw are not affected by this.

So unless you stack it's either +8% for all of them or +10% for all but dragonmaw and dragonclaw

While using warcry or something similar, does this boost the damage of heavy and charged attacks or just charged attacks like the axe talisman?

          • Anonymous

They need to un-nerf it now because 1.10 gave everything too much hyper armor, so now theres even less incentive to use warcry builds

            • Anonymous

I am in the possession of the 2nd book of knowledge and it says (p.360) that it does not affect Dragon Incantations. :)

Placidusax's Ruin laser attack is affected, not the initial lightning burst. Without it I was doing 1031 on the laser beam but 1134 with the medallion. With or without, my lightning burst was doing 1033.

Looking at the regulation file, it doesn't seem like roars are PvP nerfed, it's 15% across the board. The information about breath attacks is accurate though, 10% PvE and 5% PvP.

An arc/fth/str build using Dragon communion incantations and a roar AoW is even more viable in the early-early game thanks to the expansion of this talisman to dragon breath incantations. Get this, the dragon communion seal, warcry and a decent strength weapon all from Limgrave, then take a quick jog into caelid to kill greyoll and visit the dragon Cathedral. Now you're level 35 with the basics of your build set up already and you only have to kill one boss for it. Margit won't be ready for you.

Can you imagine fromsoftware decided to nerf this talisman to 7.5% before nerfing shard of Alexander? Tf?

Combine this w/ Axe Talisman when using Warcry or Barbaric Roar and your heavys will be doing such absurd numbers on top of having SO much hyperarmor... I run this setup on my Greatsword build and it's terrifyingly effective

                        • Anonymous

This and axe talisman are kinda like the winged sword insignia + millecents prosthetic but for str builds. Both setups can stack ludicrous amounts of damage when used together

Can’t believe it took us a whole year to finally learn that the item description wasn’t an oversight or a translation error, it was the item itself that was bugged.
                            So… is it good now?

Why did this need a PvP nerf exactly? Fromsoft once again shafting honest strength builds in favor of broken magic breath spam.

Came here to make sure that the 1.09 patch had been added to the wiki. Finally, I can defrost my arcane dragon warrior build!
Also, just saying, Dovahkiin build is now a thing using this medallion and the Highland Axe :D

If dragonmaw was on the list of buffed spells, this would have been an auto-equip on my dragon caster. Your little dragon head does do a rawr when you take a bite, oh well.

The article says that the talisman works on "Dragon Communion incantations." It SOUNDS like this is including Dragonclaw and Dragonmaw, but that can't be right, right?

                                    • does this work on the dragon breaths now after today's patch? the patch notes said, "Fixed a bug where the Roar Medallion Talisman effect didn't increase the power of some incantations."

After patch 1.09, has anyone tested if this amplifies the secondary effects of dragon communion incantations? Like, the debuff from greyrolls roar, or the frost/rot buildup of dragonice/rotten breath?

Patch 1.09: Tested, now works on breath-based dragon communion incantations. Initial damage done to albinauric enemy from Dragonice increased from 111 to 122.

This just got buffed so it worked on ‘some incantations’ please tell me that means all dragon communion.

1.09 patch hints it may affect dragon spells now (Fixed a bug where the Roar Medallion Talisman effect didn’t increase the power of some incantations). Didn't test it though yet.

Guys! GUYS! I think Roar Medallion affects Dragon Communion incantations that are breaths now!

I just did a little test.

                                                  80 arc, 50 fth, 374 incantation scaling.
Target: that poor guy guarding the chest right near the gatefront site of grace
                                                  Incantation: Dragonfire

Without Roar Medallion: 591 per tick
With Roar Medallion: 651 per tick

Further and more precise tests are needed, but I'm kinda hopeful now.

Patch 1.09 says that a bug has been fixed which prevented this talisman from affecting several incantations. Has anyone tested whether this now works on Dragon Communion incantations?

                                                    • Anonymous

It now DOES properly work as it says and affects incantations. Tested this today on Miriel, the update fixed that bug that's been there since release.

This talisman absolutely DOES buff your jump R2 attacks while under the effect of a roar. I tested it with Braggart's Roar by using a jump R2 against the same enemies both equipped and unequipped several times. As far as I can tell, it'll buff ALL your R2s with these roars active. Amazing.

                                                          • Anonymous

The devs should probably remove that "breath" clause from the description, it adds way more confusion than explanation. But remember gamers, when in doubt, test it out. That's what that poor spearman at Gatefront is for.

                                                            • Anonymous

if they simply made this not work with dragon communion spells but made them work with all other roar and breath incantations it would balance the unique breaths and incants that are lacking in utility like shabriris howl, aspect of breath, and maybe an exception for greyrolls roar

                                                              • A good combination I use is the Roar Medallion and the Spear Medallion. Use the Lance and give it the War Cry Ash of War. Use it to trade with your opponents and deal an unholy amount of damage. The Spear Medallion only affects physical damage so it’s best to run primarily physical, but that means it can be hard countered by physical defense buffs. It’s give and take, more damage but a harder counter, or a fire infusion for just more consistent damage overall.

                                                                • Anonymous

Looking at the Hitboxes for the Dragon Communion spells, they do have a modifier for "Breath Attacks" but there is no special effect that increases Breath Attack damage. So From at one point planned to have these attacks be boosted by the Roar Medallion but it was excluded either for balance concerns or maybe it was just forgotten.

                                                                  • If i had a time machine I'd go back in time and tell the guy who wrote the description of this to change the word breath to shout just so 99% of comments on this page would vanish.

                                                                    • Anonymous

Everyone is mentioning how it doesnt work with dragon breath attacks.... but... have you guys tried to see if the Torch weapon skills are boosted by it..? Thats pretty much a breath attack

                                                                      • Works really good on early str builds, exceptionally with axe talisman and spiked crystal tear damage buff will be big. However even description is false this talisman SHOUD increase damage of greyoll's roar, howl of shabriri and regal roar

                                                                        • Anonymous

this talisman is pretty useless when you realize there are far better combinations that wont use it, and especially since they don't buff dragon communion spells. Starcaller Cry is also the only skill that people widely use that gets buffed by this, and you're better off with magic scorpion, shard of alexander, ritual sword and claw/axe talisman for either jump or charged attacks.

                                                                          • Anonymous

I wish this page was a little more fleshed out. Does it work with the earth shaker weapon art? does it stack with jar shard and red sword talismans? Howl of shabriri?

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

Turns out it has nothing to do with incantations. I understand Fromsoftware wanting to be esoteric with their storytelling, but cmon, they need to be straightforward in describing what weapons and talismans do.

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous
