Rock Heart is a reusable Tool in Elden Ring. It is a unique tool found in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Tools are unique, reusable items which assist the player during various facets of gameplay, ranging from basic communication to assisting in boss encounters.
Heart consumed in the ancient, original form of Dragon
Communion.
Use while disrobed to turn one's human flesh into an ancient
dragon.
The change cannot be undone except by death.
Using this heart while already transformed temporarily boosts
Dragon Communion incantations.
The last thing the partaker saw with human eyes was a sunset, its
colors faded and tarnished—a remote thing from eternity.
Where to find Rock Heart in Elden Ring

yo this lore though, almost nothing in the game mentions the sun directly

At max level (over 400~to 713), I don't feel like the power of the spell is dramatically increased even if I use this heart. Is it just me?
This feeling is especially noticeable when co-oping with three or more people.
It would be better to just wear armor for survivability..
- Anonymous
Hallo, its a long way for me to get it so I wanna ask a question. Do you have to take of armor to use it like in old souls games or is it like bloodborne that your armor isnt partly visible but the effects stay. Thank you
- Anonymous
Makes an already OP and fun build into some of the most fun you'll have in the game. Unfortunately locked behind the Ancient Dragon-Man fight which is a massive pain for low levels or RL1 challenge runs. Still a great throwback and expansion on the dragon form, love it.
- Anonymous
Sure, you have to recast it for 60s buff and you give up absorptions/poise. But it turns you into a goddamn dragon. Who doesn't want to be a dragon? Eat this, Hawkwood!
- Anonymous
Hello there. Can you use buffs like howl of Shabriri/Flame Grant me Strength or does the Dragon form count as a body buff?
Thanks in advance.
- Anonymous
The design of this form reminds me of the dragonkin soldiers, especially with the hollow eye sockets and exposed teeth. Maybe this is related to the power they used to obain their dragonkin forms?
- Anonymous
if dragon skin is made of rocks then why do I get one shot by most things?
- Anonymous
The damage bonus should have been a permanent statistic of the change. A buff you need to reapply every 60 seconds to become a permanent fking glass house till you die is not balance.
- Anonymous
Tried applying these before going through the frenzied flame proscription door out of curiousity. The cutscene looks fking hilarious, but sadly the priestress gets no burns marks.
- Anonymous
Provides a good buff to Dragon Communion incants and pairs very well with the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword both thematically and practically which also helps make up for the form's lack of poise.
- Anonymous
Is this a body buff? What are ALL possible buffs that can stack if so?
- Anonymous
Chair is there. Wonder if there's some kind of cut-off. This will be the third painting I have with no painter at location.
- Anonymous
any conditions that prevent chair from showing up even if painting is in inventory? Like burning the tree or beating end boss?
- Anonymous
Could this be the heart of florissax? Like the original. Maybe that's why she turned human because she exchanged her heart for the heart of a human and vice versa. Also makes it interesting to think the original communion involved ancient dragons and not bayle's descendants but that changed down the line.
- Anonymous
Ok hear me out. Use this with 2x Dragon Communion Seals, Blue Dancer Talisman, Lord of Bloods Exultation, Canvas Flock Talisman and RTSR/Ritual Sword Talisman (depending on whether you're ok with getting one shot or not). Have a Rapier with Seppuku and a Martial arts weapon with Shriek of Sorrow in your secondary weapon slots. Leaden and Stone Barbed are probably the best Physicks to use but I don't think there's any that will buff the damage of this build. Work out how many seppuku it takes to get to get to RTSR/Shriek of sorrow level and use one less than that. Then buff with your Physick, Golden Vow, Rock Heart, Flame Grant Me Strength, use Seppuku again and then Shriek of Sorrow (heal up if your using Ritual Sword instead of RTSR) in that order to maximise buff time. Dragonmaw Should do some ridiculous damage now (as if it wasn't strong enough pre DLC).
- Anonymous
This would be absolutely perfect if the buff just lasted the entire time you are in the form instead of needing to recast it every 60 seconds
- Anonymous
This is gold on low levels especially if you somehow can get a second dragon seal. Be it pvp or pve. If you rush this thingy it will be better at defences than lower-weight armors (for light rolls at low end) and make your dragon incants hit very hard for your level. So yeah gameplay-wise it has it's niche too, sadly requires you to basically twink and do DLC

Why Fromsoft??? Why do you let us choose between this and literally Armor (which unlike previous Souls games actually is impotent) but not give this a permanent buff off 20% to dragon Communion spells . 20% isn’t bad but it also isn’t that much that it needs to be capped to 60 second while there is literally a armor set that gives a 8% buff to EVERYTHING PERMANENTLY while having the benefit of having literally Armor which gives you over 50 Poise and damage negation. Why this item is so cool and I love dragon communion spells but why why doesn’t this have a permanent buff
- Anonymous
I'm not even an arc build, but I love dragons, and if they let us choose between diff colors of dragon skin I'd throw away all my armor just for this lol
- Anonymous
This thing sucks. Basically gets one shot even before casting a single skill. Why on earth would anyone use it lol?

I did some testing, and it looks like the Dragon Greases have an impact on those using this form. My buddy hit me 3 times with a Greatsword; the first was without grease and did 452 damage. The second was with standard Dragonwound Grease and did 483, and the third was with Dragon Communion Grease and did 497. I healed to full between each and neither of us had any talismans that would affect the results significantly. This wasn't a full test and I don't have numbers, but it looks like there is a tangible effect against transformed characters.
It requires you to defeat 2 dlc bosses total, it's buff is free and it makes you look like a very malnourished dragonkin soldier. What's not to love.
Oh, and unlike the other heart it perfectly synergizes with blue dancer since dragon communion seal weights 0 and half the communion spells deal physical dmg. Just main-hand a light weapon with endure
- Anonymous
Sleep on this item, temporary damage buffs based on conditionals are cancer and they need to ****ing die.
Worst ****ing direction of item design FS has ever made since making the pact items in Bloodborne needing to be leveled up to actually feel useful in a PVP setting where you HAVE to up your devotion level just to get a simple move added.
- Anonymous
Why can't I use my dragon rock heart tool, to change, my arcane is 12 and my faith is 50 but have used the priestess heart but not the rock heart but neither work know ? Help! Thanks .
- Anonymous
Not gonna lie, but this just feels like a downgrade compared to the dragon forms of the souls games.
It only buffs incantations from a specific spell school and since you have to ditch your armour for this, the 10% damage resist are honestly just a downgrade.
Imo they should have made the spell buff a bit lower but in exchange make it a passive effect and turn the active effect into something beneficial to more playstyles, like maybe have it be a baby version of Greyolls Roar that doesn't do as much damage or knockback but still inflicts the debuff.
The only use I can see for this is as set-up for niche one-shot builds.
You were born a child of dragons! What could you possibly fear?
- Anonymous
So activating it again for the incant buff gives you a good 3 seconds of iframes. This probably isnt intentional but has been coming in pretty clutch in pvp. Could probably use it in pve for style points but most enemies are too agressive or have to long attacks for it to matter there.
- Anonymous
10% negation and 50 resistance at 0 equip load is a great deal for blue dancer charm builds
- Anonymous
Am I the only one who thinks that the Rock Heart and Priestess Heart should switch buffs? The Rock Heart turns you into an Ancient Dragon so shouldn't it boost the lightning incantations? The Priestess Heart turns you into a fleshy dragon so that should boost Dragon Communion incantations. Am I just weird?

The incant buff should be permanent, because unless you’re popping it constantly (which is hard to do in a fight) this form gives no benefits besides 10% negation and drip

"When you use the heart while in dragon form, it gives you a +20% damage to Dragon Communion Incantations for 60 seconds"
That's definitly to short. The Dragon inantations are so slow to used, we also have to take the time to use the Rock Heart to have the Dargon form, AND a second time to have the buff. That's just totally useless unfortunatly.
- Anonymous
I honestly wished atleast one of the two Dragon forms would've been like the cool armored one from Ds2. Which also had pretty good defensive stats. Sadly, both of them just slight improvements of the starved goat in Ds3.
They even removed the roar from re-using the item, now it's just a silly pose.
- Anonymous
Does this make you vulnerable to anti-dragon effects? Like the harpoons or dragonscale blade?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
And here I was thinking that there was only 1 dragon transformation, and it benefitted dragon cult incants instead. Thank god. And this one's easier to get too
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Gives you +10% negation to all damage. Weird that’s not noted here.
- Anonymous
Did some testing, stacks with Body, Aura, and Health Regen buff slots, so is most likely a unique buff
- Anonymous
You take additional damage from anti dragon effects like dragon grease.
- Anonymous
I like how this one transforms you into something resembling a midway point between human and magma wyrm as opposed to the "human" form ancient dragon like the other one. Fits with the item description, and it also explains why we don't become a magma wyrm despite eating 23(?) dragon hearts plus Bayle's. We're just doing it wrong apparently. New-school Dragon Communion doesn't turn you into a badass, magma spewing lizard like the old-school communion does.
- Anonymous
Its cool and all but i wish, since they made two forms, they had made this one tanky.
One for melee builds, one for squishy builds.
- Anonymous
What type of buff is it though? Sure it stacks with Exalted Flesh so it can’t be a Body buff, the stacking with Contagious Fury means nothing as that is a Unique buff and stacks with everything. So is the Dragon Communion buff an Aura buff or Unique?
- Anonymous
A dragon is meant to have dragon scales and be nigh immortal, tankiness is the maint hing with dragons, ever lasting dragons.
Why always a squish lord *sigh*
- Anonymous
Being a dragon doesnt carry over to mimic tear and he doesnt seem to use either hearts to transform. So, if you want to be a dragon and still use mimic tear: wear your default armor > summon mimic > strip all armor > turn into a dragon. A lot of effort just to utilize the buffs when reusing the heart.
- Anonymous
I can't believe From really let us be a COOL BLACK DRAGON, stats be damned
- Anonymous
The fact it's not a on off transmutation in regards to appearance angers me
- Anonymous
Does a person using this suffer from the anti dragon stuff in pvp?

I found this after stumbling across a random empty chair in the dragon area proceeding from the dragon peak mountainside. Didn’t do any quests or paintings, just found a random ass chair and started swinging at it
- Anonymous
Can you use the rock heart while in priestess form to boost dragon communion instead of dragon cult. And vice versa?
- Anonymous
guess ds1/2 still have the best looking dragon forms. thanks fromsoft, i guess
- Anonymous
Looks like Bloodborne still has the undisputed best transformations.
- Anonymous
How stupid is this that the buff is not permanent when switching to the form ???
- Anonymous
tough to find weapons that match with the aesthetic, personally using the sword of milos. any other good options?
- Anonymous
Why didn't they just make the buff to Communion Incantations permanent when you are in dragon form? Seems a little silly to not when you already get 10% to all damage negations and 50 boost to status resistances.
- Anonymous
I've been rocking this with the hand to hand arts and the dancer talisman. Gods are no match for the fury of kungfu dragon!

okay but can i drop this for a new level 1 char to do a full naked goat run of elden ring

Rock heart buff + Blue dancer charm + Flock's Canvas Talisman + Ritual sword tailsman + Golden vow + Flame grant me strength + dual +10 dragon comm seals + Dragonmaw = 6k+ damage per hit. don't sleep on this.

Dragonmaw, blue dancer charm, red feathered branch sword and this. I am become death, destroyer of everything.

for those that are stupid like me: the difference between this and the one the priestess gives you is the rock heart buffs dragon COMMUNION while the priestess heart buffs ANCIENT dragon CULT
- Anonymous
Dont have equipped with Mimic Tear. It will spam use it during the fight.
- Anonymous
It also changes the range of skills. Albinarics didn't like the new sacred relic sword range. It kills all but the mofo at the bottom right corner
- Anonymous
Has anyone tried this before activating the Three Fingers cutscene?

Definitely worth using this - 20% boost to incantations with such high base damage is extremely impactful, and being light weight was already good for Dragon Communion anyway to use the Blue Dancer Talisman, which buffs Greyolls Roar, Dragonclaw, Dragonmaw, Ekzykes Decay/Rotten Breath, and for some reason, Bayles Flame Lightning too.
You are a glass cannon with this though. Would definitely like for the amount of damage negation you gain with it to be increased at least to like 20%. Would be nice if it gave hyperarmor to all Dragon Communion incantations since you cant reach 51 poise with it.
- Anonymous
What type of buff is this classified as? I assume body or special.
- Anonymous
I feel like it needs a small boost to damage reduction (not a ton) and some poise.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous

- Anonymous
Wish it gave you poise cuz you need it when casting anything that isnt Dragonmaw
- Anonymous
Wait... Did they may a dragon form that actually looks cool and not like a chicken? How... How is this possible?
- Anonymous
This won't work in any "forced peace" area like Roundtable Hold, so don't panic if it seems like you can't transform. Simply go to a standard area and it'll work provided you're not wearing any Armor (talismans and weapons are fine).

From testing : when you use the heart while in dragon form, it gives you a +20% damage from dragon communion incantations

It doesn't work for me, despite me taking off My armor, is this a bug or am i missing something
- Anonymous
With Blue Dancer Talisman, this provides a pretty large damage buff to the communion incantations that were already pretty strong. Claw, Maw, and Rot Breath. Only problem is that you now just have toilet paper defenses.
- Anonymous
Since you are practically naked, most builds will stay under 30% equipment load (blue dancer tali will also give you additional damage). Many people hate light roll and for a good reason but if you are gonna invade for example, it will help you survive aow pandemic the dlc brought. Also dragon bros we are so back..
