Roundtable Knight Vyke, also known as Vyke, Knight of the Roundtable is a Boss in Elden Ring. Vyke is a Tarnished warrior from the past wielding a spear and using Ancient Dragon Cult Incantation. This is an optional boss as players don't have to defeat it to advance in Elden Ring, but will be rewarded with useful items and Runes for doing so.
Can be encountered in different form (NPC Invader) near Church of Inhibition. See Festering Fingerprint Vyke for more information.
No other Tarnished was closer to the throne of the Elden Lord than Vyke. But without announcement, Vyke traveled far below the capital, and was scorched by the flame of frenzy.
Did he make his choice for his maiden, or did some other force lure him with suggestion?

Roundtable Knight Vyke Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Vyke:
- His weapon buff also negates his Lightning Defense by around 35%, so use any weapons that deal Lightning Damage
- Suggested spells: For faith, Lightning Spear, Lightning Fortification, and Flame of Frenzy.
For intelligence, Stars of Ruin, Night Comet, Gavel of Haima. - Suggested items: Boltdrake Talisman and Lightningproof Dried Liver for lightning defense, Boiled Crab and Pickled Turtle Neck for defense and stamina recovery.
Melee Users
One main thing to note when facing Vyke is that he mainly uses lightning attacks, but is also weak to lightning. You can come prepared with a few options: Boltdrake Talisman will have the ability to boost Lightning Damage negation while the Lightning Scorpion Charm raises Lightning Damage, but lowers damage negation. With neither of those items on hand, there is a consumable that would also temporarily boost lightning negation. Lightningproof Dried Liver can easily be Crafted or found from a few locations in Leyndell Royal Capital and Altus Plateau. Users also recommend a Faith Lightning Spear since his buff makes him vulnerable to lightning and he can be easily staggered due to his low poise.
When facing Vyke, watch for his leaping attacks and Fortissax’s Lightning Spear. He uses a few other Lightning attacks that can only be used when he buffed himself with the Lightning buff. Without it, he will be forced to use his melee attacks with his spear. There will be a short period as he buffs himself that would give players an opening to strike. This is animated by him raising his spear and a bolt of lightning strikes him, giving him his power. Be aware of these openings and quickly back away as the action ends because he will immediately follow up with a few of his lightning attacks. This will give you space to avoid them.
When his lightning attacks end, he may sometimes run towards you to close the distance which will give you an opportunity to reposition or even charge at him. Most of his melee actions are quick with a short range so you can easily roll back away from them and follow up with an attack as well. If you happen to have a shield and are too close to avoid his charge attack, you can instead, guard counter this action. Continue with a combination of avoiding his lightning strikes, rolling back away from his melee attacks then charging forward in between attacks to eventually clear his HP.
Magic and Ranged Users
When you prepare to face him, be aware that his main attacks and weaknesses are both to lightning. You may equip the relevant talismans to boost lightning negation or damage such as the Boltdrake Talisman which will have the ability to boost Lightning Damage negation or the Lightning Scorpion Charm which raises Lightning Damage but lowers damage negation. Lightningproof Dried Liver will also be able to boost lightning negation.
With magic, you can use the large arena to your advantage. In the Evergaol, circle around him and continuously use your ranged attacks such as Rock Sling since he staggers easily. Night Comet is also said to be effective against him and his quick dodges. It can also be used to interrupt his heals. Avoid attempting to afflict any Status Effects on him since he is immune. He will begin with a set of melee attacks until you see his charge-up animation which opens him up to use his lightning attacks. Create some distance and he will be forced to give chase in order to deal his melee charge attacks. During this time, you can attempt to deal more attacks from a distance while continuously repositioning yourself to deplete his HP.
Roundtable Knight Vyke Attacks & Counters
Attack | Description | Counter |
Storm Assault | Vyke creates a gust of wind around him and shortly after he leaps into the air and plunges into ground dealing massive damage. | He has hyper-armor during that attack, so the best solution is to run away. A good moment to prepare a heavy attack. This attack has slight AOE. |
Fortissax's Lightning Spear | Vyke jumps up and slams down two lightning spears, creating lightning waves that travel outward. | Back away as far as you can. After the second spear explodes, perform a jumping attack. |
Lightning Strike | Vyke calls down several lightning strikes on the player's location. | If you see yellow sparks on the ground, dodge to the sides immediately. |

All the lore considered, and his relevance as the tarnished that was closest to being elden lord prior to you, vyke should of been more impactful. He deserved a full cutscene style boss battle. Vykes a tragic anime protagonist In elden ring, closest to elden lord, favored knight and bootycall of a ancient dragon (lansaxx), maddened by flame of frenzy, is the cover knight of elden ring, supposed brother of bernhal and it being his will that bernhal continues in defiance of the greater will.

I used a whip. Specifically the petal whip, but any will do. It was +17 I think. Just stood at max range for whip, which is much longer than his spear and pressed R1. He only rolls away to buff or drink, otherwise he rolls laterally around you at whatever distance he was at when hit. So staggering your R1 slightly catches him over and over. Poise and hyper armor only work in animations, because he never got close enough to attack, no poise, so he remained stagger locked and panic rolling side to side the whole fight. When he goes to use lightning stakes, just run away a little. Sippy if you got tagged or rebuff if using them, then go back in to max whip range and continue to R1 until he stops moving.

What's the lore reason on why he's normal in the evergoal? Even his spear doesn't do fire damage and has a different ashe of war
- Anonymous
Vyke was Melina’s original tarnished. Hence her repeated warnings outside the 3 fingers door and hatred for you after turning to the frenzied flame. Just like your body is burned after joining the 3 fingers so is Melina’s hands and arms in the exact same pattern; presumably trying to forcefully save Vyke from the frenzied flame
- Anonymous
In backing away and making him chase, the storm assaults are a good opportunity to queue up a mid-range attack (e.g. greatblade phalanx). Also the charge attack is vulnerable to guard counter if using a shield.
- Anonymous
completely immune to every status effect for no explainable reason

I am a twinblade pure melee player. This guy was insane because you can't get close due to his unpredictable move set. I switched to a halberd. That Golden Halberd +8 I got basically at the start of the game. Remember that one? I poked him with it. I took my hits but I ground him down.
Use a thrust weapon with extended range. Keep him away from you. I couldn't break his poise with it though.
- Anonymous
This comment pertains to the evergaol version: he CANNOT be poise broken so don't even attempt it. That being said you CAN stagger him, at least until he gains hyper armor once his health depletes halfway.
If you want to keep him stun locked, use AoW Eochaid's Dancing Blade once you make him miss, but make sure you cancel before the end slash otherwise he'll punish you. Also a quick hitting spell or incantation (I recommend lightning spear seeing that lightning is his only apparent weakness) can throw him off and give you space to heal.
Beware of his storm attack, it's absolutely ridiculous as the wind will stun you and the stab will likely one shot you. However you can dodge right under him when he goes airborne and you'll be able to get a couple hits in while he's on the ground.
This fight is essentially like many other difficult fights in this game: don't get greedy. Be patient, stick to what works, and capitalize on your windows of opportunity and you'll finally put him to rest.

Cheese his festering form by running behind the church and waiting by the edge of the cliff and hoping when he knocks you off he dies with you. Bonus if it's on a slippery slope!

This game doesn't even use A.i., its all button mapping registered by your inputs. It just calculates the instant you press a button or begin to because of the pressure. It's why Ash summons dont constantly fight or they stalk, because the enemy its fighting doesnt press buttons. So it "A.I." can't read itself and never counters like it does against the player. Nothing in this game adheres to the same rules that the player has to. Especially stamina and FP. Bosses should have to drink Cerulean flasks as well.

Moonveil's Transient Moonlight is very effective against him.
Serious question:
Why we, as a player, get this thing called "poise" which is basically non existent. And we have to fight things that have actual poise which works as intended. What is the ****ing point?

I did manage to inflict rot on him with the dragon incantation, but it doesn't last long, just enough to get him to spend his flask

boss version is immune to everything...except getting smashed in the face by my giant throbbing purple stones.
this dude was a chump against rock sling, took him out in no time from across the evergoal. he staggers easy, so he never even had a chance to fight back.
this feels like this was created as a competition with Juno Hoslow of which could be the most bs boss fight in the game.

Vyke as a Boss has an unique version of his spear that can be buffed. he uses the "Vyke's Dragonbot" meaning that he will be weak to lightning dmg
If you're a mage, you can easily bully him by spamming Stars of Ruin (at least you can with the Evergaol version, don't know about the other one). All he'll be able to do is try and fail to dodge them until he's dead.
- Anonymous
For the evergaol
He's very susceptible to poise damage so I'd recommend using the Nightrider's Glaive.
After each hit he is very likely to panic roll so by stepping in between each swing and resetting the combo you will be able to chain rollcatch him until you run out of stamina.
There are several points in the fight were he will give you free hits to start rollcatching him such as when he spawns, whenever he tries to buff, and when he tries to drink a flask. The flask and buff especially are repeatable and can be interrupted causing him to try and cast them again giving you even more free hits.
His AI also seems to get confused by throwables and will roll as you throw them not when they're about to hit him allowing you to use Gravity Stone Fans to open him up to rollcatching too.
I wouldn't recommend trying to interrupt any of his WA, Incantations, or spells as they seem to give him alot of hyper armour and are likely to oneshot you with <40 vigor.
Every build should be able to use this especially with a strength talisman to meet the weapon requirements, though using your stat specific high poise damaging weapon would probably make this easier.
- Anonymous
Unless you're a parry god the easiest way to beat him in Liurnia Lakes is with spells or incantations, just glintstone pebble or uncharged lightning spear will work, just keep backing away from him and quick casting. He's much easier at the Evergaol as he's not building up a ton of madness with every little hit, just make sure you check your lightning dam negation, put on the boltdrake talisman, use a lightningproof dried liver etc
- Anonymous
Can confirm the Roundtable version deals some kind of damage through guard with no buffs. If I had to guess it looks like he is dealing the Fire damage from his Festering version.
- Anonymous
The Roundtable version will try to buff in the beginning of the fight, I suggest don't let him. At 1/2 health he gains hyper armor and increased casting speed so he will buff himself regardless of what you do by that point, but it makes the first 1/2 easier. I just took him to 1/2 health by interrupting his casts and staying in his face. At 1/2 health he just ignored the poise damage and cast through me hitting him 2-3 times, so the AI will "cheat" when you are winning.
- Anonymous
Trash design boss fight. Artificially stated out the ass and immune to status effects. Also gets semi-hyper armor for most of his interactions, you need a strong attack to stop anything he is doing. And God be with you, cause if you can't break his animations he'll blow you up. I suggest cheats/hacks, turn this guy into a joke.
- Anonymous
I use grave scythe and if you pair that with a parry shield, you can get a full combo off on him after parries whilst he gets back up (assuming he rolls sideways instead of backwards)
just bare in mind that when you get his health around below half he just starts spamming spells
- Anonymous

Why is he summoned as an "NPC" type with no white ghost effect yet totally immune to bleed? Can FROM be consistent in their rule bending at least?
- Anonymous
So who put him in the evergaol, and why is that version of him seemingly from before he got madness (he’s using his Dragon Cult abilities).
If he got put in because of his madness and has reformed himself, why does he invade you using said madness skills??
- Anonymous
weird how this guy and Millicent gets unique versions of weapons, he get a no madness version of his spear with a storm ash and Millicent gets shamshir with water fowl dance.
- Anonymous
fun fact, this guy is the knight on the cover of elden ring.
- Anonymous
Found this guy after giving up on Alecto, and he was a holiday in comparison.
Back off from his specials, and jump-attack over his spear attacks. Actually, you can pretty much jump over every spear attack in the game.

Beat the evergoal at level 30 not sure how people are struggling with it at higher levels
level your vigor I guess
- Anonymous
Impossible to kill except with extremely specialized builds, like half the bosses in this game. Garbage.
- Anonymous
Another tip for people struggling, if you can manage 17 faith Lightning Spear absolutely wrecks him. Don't charge it, and he will never dodge the uncharged attack. As a bonus his self buffing incant makes him weaker to lightning damage, and his low poise means the spear will always stagger him. If you don't have the faith, you can use faith knot tear in your physick, the fight should be over before it runs out.
- Anonymous
Fromsoft devs be like: "hmmm, this boss feels kindda weak to the zone he's at. Maybe I should spend some time to enhance it's battle AI?? Nah, I'll just give him estus, lightning spells that can one-shot and immunity to all status effects. That'll do it."
- Anonymous
This guy is basically the Gundyr of Elden Ring and I love him so much
- Anonymous
Storm stomp into heavy claymore attack can be spammed(he gets stunlocked), until you run out of stamina, pretty funny
- Anonymous
Crazy theory here, but I think I know why he uses madness outside the evergoal, but not within it. The frenzied flame doesn't occupy bodies as shabriri leads you to believe. It instead clones tarnished to use as puppets. Normally it arranges to have the originals killed as it did with Yura and Irina so that they can't interfere with their clones Shabriri and Hyetta. Vyke however proved too powerful to kill, so the three fingers imprisoned him in the evergoal instead. Somewhere out there your original tarnished is locked away, and after getting molested by the three fingers you then progress the game as an empty clone husk.

Can you post his stats/ damage negation? He seems I mine to all status’
Fixed on 1.04, he invades at the church (just like Edgar invades at the revenger's shack) - I cleared all of Liurnia btw so no issue with that
- Anonymous
so I guess like dungeater you can invade from evergaols but are limited in the things you can actually do. But why is he using his regular skills in the evergaol and his frenzy skills as an invader. I wonder if you kill Vyke in the Evergaol first if he'll still invade near the frenzied village.

Vyke reach the throne, thorn blocked the throne. His maiden offer to burn the erdtree for him to become the lord.
On the way to the mountaintops, there he met Shabriri, whom Frenzy God sent to lure Vyke to inherit Frenzy Flame, like what it said to us.
Vyke choose to save his maiden, went to seek three finger, with his armor on. Three finger grapped him, print the mark all over Vyke's armor.
Neither they know, although Frenzy Flame did infect Vyke, but it's not inherited, Vyke can't envision the flame, he can't lit the forge.
So after this fail attempt, Frenzy God learned. In its 2nd attempt, it got us a maiden, which is also the girl who died beneath our very eyes, to play with our guilt even more, so that we can't resist to help her. And that's why when we did get to the three finger this time, we're requested to get naked.
Vyke action was found, and jailed in evergaol. His maiden failed her mission of guiding tarnished Vyke, soon her life was taken away from her.
Vyke still protecting his maiden, so he invaded us when we reach the church of inhibition, where his maiden lies.
- Anonymous
anyone else think it's strange he's immune to status? I also think it's weird his evergoal version is basically a entirely different person then the invader using lightning abilities and no frenzy at all despite clearly being the same person.
- Anonymous
he appears to be immune to scarlet rot for some bizarre reason. That or my 100 pokes with a antspur rapier that killed him just wasn't enough to rot him somehow.
- Anonymous
His jumping weapon art can go to hell. How can a gust of wind stun lock AND damage you?? If you get caught in the startup animation you’re basically done for because there’s no window for you to roll out of the attack.

Is it just me or is this guy IMPOSSIBLE to stagger? He is not that difficult, but the busted glintblade phalanx WA doesn't stagger him, nor power stancing two colossal weapons...

One-shot him with Inescapable Frenzy, literally laughing during the whole grab animation.

For the lords contender just use inescapable frenzy ezpz if you have it
Mix up ranged spells and jump-melee attacks and this is cake. Just time it right. Dropped in one go.

If you're a sorcerer, because he's he's set up like an Invader type NPC — Night Comet absolutely wrecks him. He won't dodge it, doesn't see it coming, and it'll interrupt when he tries to heal. He didn't even manage to make it up to be close enough to attack before he bit the dust when I fought him. I initially started using it to deal with the enemies in Zamor Ruins, but this spell is absolutely monstrous against anything that wants to make calculated dodges.
- Anonymous
Exactly the right fight to put in one of these Evergaols. Tough, some really overpowered attacks, but ultimately doable. No risk to your runes, short runback. That's some good souls.
- Anonymous
Golden greatshield and guard counters in Gaol makes it fairly easy.

Adula's Moonblade wrecks him. Complete lockout, just keep swinging.

he does not like the giantsflame ball, tiny pancake (he will dodge it sometimes, but that's what the halberd is for)

Spear is super easy to parry. Listen for the "whoosh" sound effect of the slow forward stab, parry as soon as you hear it, and ping. free crits.

His lore implied that he might have faced the three fingers in order to save his maiden.
I wonder if it was Melina and she left him after he became frienzied ?

Pest Threads render him nearly useless. If he's sprinting at you head on they might miss, but once he starts rolling they tear him to shreds.

Its like PvP but your opponent have infinite stamina, infinite mana,a aimbot spear, hits like a truck and with the HP of 5 regular Dragons... and the dude don't have a single drop of blood in his veins....yeah I hate this thing... anyway use Magic or Frensy Incantations.

there is a bug where he won't invade at the church, therefore not being. able to complete shabriri grape quest.

Time your special attack as he’s running close to you. Keep your distance so that he comes running towards you.
- Anonymous
He has very low lightning negation, which is lowered further by the spell he uses as a boss.
- Anonymous
Theory: Guess he went mad trying to fight the three fingers seeing how his armor is melted by it's grip, implying he might have forced himself through the door. His spear also mentions that he is tormented by the flame, while the frenzied flame disciples seem quite happy to get it.
- Anonymous
Is Roundtable Vyke using a different weapon cuz he can use Vyke's dragonbolt on it?

I really want to figure out this guy's full story. It's said that he was close to the dragon waifu Lansseax, migh have been one of the main folks of the ancient dragon cult, considering there's a dragon-lightining miracle named after him. And it's said that he was the Tarnished to get the closest to the Elden Lord title...
But now he seems to be the currrent (or former) leader of this Frenzied Flame cult. I hope there's more to it, he seems to be a rather interesting character
