Sacrificial Axe is an Axe in Elden Ring. The Sacrificial Axe scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity, and is a good Weapon for for aggressive characters who like to face enemies head on. This weapon allows players to take swing after swing especially with the Skill, Wild Strikes.

Hatchet used in ancient sacrificial rite. A Deathbird is depicted as a malevolent deity.

The power of the rite yet lingers. A small amount of FP is restored upon slaying a foe.

16 strength ... you tell me this weird little thing is as heavy as a whole claymore? Why is fromsoft so wary of FP refill methods that they have to limit them into oblivion when HP healing is everywhere one for every item slot >.>

If you are a mage, keep It on your back/left hand. Even without req, Will recover 4fp each kill. its huge.

If you are a dex/int char that use a lot of weapon skill, the same. With Rogier glinstone pebble on your uchigatana. Then put this axe on your back.

Physical damage + Bleed + ranged skill + Magic damage + mana recovery. You dont need anything else

        • Anonymous

Available early game, useful as a way of recovering FP in co-op, doesn't weight a lot. I haven't test it's worth as a weapon but, it's a very good tool to keep on your pocket, use Ash of War like, Golden Vow, Shared Order or whatever handy Ash of War for certain situation you might need and your life as a Tarnished will be slightly less painful, 10/10 give it a shot bros.

Because of its short reach, this weapon is best used 2 handed with cold infusion, quickstep and fire's deadly sin for in close combat. By avoiding enemy attacks with quickstep you can set up powerful jumping and charged attacks to stun enemies which this weapon excels at.

Sacrificial axe gets the highest AR out of the entire axe weapon class when sacred or flame art infused warped axe is best for bleed frost an poison as it get the highest build ups

              • Anonymous

I think a lot of people disregard this weapon cause the not the "best" axe in any metric, and end up only using it as a tool for pure casters.
                This is just wrong.
                1. Its the third highest damage axe on heavy w/ 60 str.
                2. It pairs perfectly with electrify armament / scholar's armament, and / or a powerful ash of war like stormcaller or swords dance.
                3. Its of average weight for an axe, lighter than the warped axe and iron cleaver.
Its only really notable downside is its range, and while it is bad its something you can work around.

It is however worthless in pvp, where its utility means little and its lack of range means more.

                • Sadly unlike Serpent curved sword (which has a similar purpose and is quite ok in damage and length department) this axe is not only hideous, but totally useless as a weapon. A shame.

Good starting weapon for starting out as a Hero Class with the intention of going the Radahn route. Low requirements for other stats other than strength, helps while your mind is still abyssmally low and you try to learn spells.. and it looks good with the Champion set.

Incredible throwaway left hand weapon for spellcasters or builds that heavily rely on an ash of war, for example Bolt of Gransax enjoyers will get a lot of mileage out of this since generally 2 handing that weapon and spamming it's weapon art is the play.

                      • Anonymous

The r2 has stronger poise damage than other weapons it's size, able to stunlock knights ect. It's attack speed is reasonably fast as is the block counter. Slap a roar ash with frost and pair with a medium shield with retaliation and you're basically unkillable.

Some tools are best in the hands of the skilled.

                        • Anonymous

Even if this thing is listed as a weapon, it shouldn't be truly considered as such.
It has a somewhat decent AR for being an one handed axe, but it has the same range of fists.
It is more of a utility item for early game Astrologers, as the passive will literally sustain your Carian Slicer during the course of all the dungeon you're clearing.

"Restores 4 FP per enemy killed in the viscinity of the player while equipped this weapon" - vicinity is misspelled here

You know what I like about this weapon? It looks like the Guilotine Ax from Demon’s Souls. No, not the bad redesign from Bluepoint that just looked like a generic hatchet on a stick, but the original that looked like an actual guilotine was formed into a hand ax. Proof that Fromsoft doesn’t agree with their art direction

very good early game pickup for casters. been using this on my prisoner run and just mowing through stormveil with carian slicer

probably should add the "restores 4 FP for each defeated enemy" passive effect to the "passive" section on the item card in the top right. so it can be seen at a cursory glance. and so it appears and can be cross-referenced on the "passive effects" page entry, if that ever gets expanded upon

Busted: Trying to actually use this as a weapon
Trusted: Left-hand equipping this while two-handing your (actually useful) right-hand weapon.
Don't be fooled by the useful Damage number this thing has 0 range, but will quietly provide its passive while sitting on your hip as you wail away with your two-handed right hand weapon.

Given how insanely short this weapon is, I see no reason why they didn't just give it the hatchet moveset rather than the regular axe one to compensate for its lack of range.

I was going to powerstance this with the Executioner’s Greataxe, but then I realized that this isn’t a Greataxe and it’s just a regular Axe.

My day is now significantly worse.

A mage build isn't going to get much out of this suppose if you are able to keep it off hand but even looking at a prisoner you have to invest 5 points into strength just to make it viable as a lighter weapon. Those five points could be going into int for more damage or you could be putting them into mind for more fp. At 25 mind you get 147 fp while at 30 mind you get 173. This will net you an increase of 26 extra points. While that may seem insignificant until you add in cerulean flasks with just 4 of them you get a total of 104 mp. Which comes out to having an additional 14 casts of glintstone pebble. (My math could be off there) However with this to get that same payout you need to kill 26 enemies, and that's just 4 flasks. Then finally that investment into strength to meet the requirements make this passive ability completely useless and taking up weight that you could be wearing heavier armor. Which could quickly mean adding more points to endurance to be able to wear one of those stupid statues on your head.

The Sacrificial Axe has a deceptively short melee range. It can get you into trouble quite often with its tendency to straightup whiff where many other weapons would not.
That said, its FP regeneration can be incredibly handy in just about any situation, and will usually net you enough FP to allow you to cast 2-4 more spells in a run than you otherwise would be able to.

                                            • From really missed the boat on this weapon, Sacrificial Dagger would have been the obvious choice, or make it a Curved Sword to power-stance with the Serpent God Sword. then the FP regen should have been 2.5% + 25 like the Serpent God's Curved Sword. I really hope they fix it.

You can gain the benefit of the FP regeneration even if you two-hand your other weapon. Great for builds using two-handed weapons that benefit from skills (such as Unsheathe) due to the FP regen on kill.

The FP regen isn't going to add up to much in most legacy dungeons or catacombs? Very wrong. In fact the opposite is true. Those are exclusively the places where the FP regen DOES add up and thus exactly the places where it's useful to have equipped.

                                                  • Anonymous

Anyone else find it strange that the two perfectly viable weapons that also have this effect tacked on, the sacrificial axe (4fp) and the sword of milos (5fp), both restore more fp than the talisman for which it is it’s sole purpose, the ancestral horn (3fp).

                                                    • Anonymous

This has some good usage in non-boss pve and invasions on the host side but as an invader or in duels, you cannot rely upon this thing's special effect to go off ever. However, as a fun fact, if you were able to get one proc off of it giving you 4 fp, that would allow you to use any ash of war which requires 9 or less fp. Notable inclusions in that club are: the first half of the Sword Dance AoW, Storm Stomp, Impaling Thrust, Endure, the first half of Flaming Strike AoW, Golden Parry, Carian Retaliation, and the first half of a spinning slash AoW.

Kind of a missed opportunity, this could have been a curved sword (or the Serpent God Curved sword could have been an axe) and would have allowed for builds that power stance and recover health and fp on kills. Not a gameplay flaw just something that would have been neat. Praise something other than RoB

Also, it's inate fp resoration ability , spamming abilities is easy. Pair withCarion Crest and Fp Horn Charm and you will have a tough time running ever out of fp, even with ni investment

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                        • Using this and the Serpent-God's Curved Sword in my left hand, alongside a HEAVILY faith-based build with a seal and the Cipher Pata in my right hand I'm able to recoup FP/HP during fights effectively while using either two-handed fist weapons or an Incant Seal with a backup weapon. Very useful in early-midgame!

I will try doing a low-mind (ergo low FP) build with sorcery or incants since the return from this and Sword of Milos and every other FP/HP-returning weapon in the game is FLAT meaning you get more for your money at low max FP/HP.

                                                                          • Anonymous

The best way to make use of it is to hold it while you one shot enemies with spells/incants, as a kill will effectively reduce the fp cost. But it is hardly noticeable regen

The FP regen, even with something like Carian Seal to reduce skill cost, isn't going to add up to much in most legacy dungeons or catacombs, it's far better suited to exploring on horseback when you can kill critters to get some FP back.

Still, if you can fit it into your load out without going over med roll it's also nice to stick something like Golden Vow onto so it becomes a handy multi-tool.

                                                                                      • If you find yourself using mana a lot, try using this with the Sword of Milos from Dungeater and the ancestral horn talisman, because it gives you 15 mana every time something dies, even if you didn't kill it.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

This weapon is amazing, perhaps the best side weapon for any magic user. The extra FP with each kill is awesome, especially when paired with the ancestral spirit's horn, it's no slouch in combat as well.
Add hoarfrost stomp for INT scaling and some added crowd control and you have yourself a strong contender for the best melee weapon for a mage.

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

Incredibly short-ranged. So much so, in fact, that its swing just won’t connect with the hitboxes of some minibosses (Erdtree Avatars and Root Beasts, for instance) even when you’re right up against them.

Still, it was a valuable tool for my Astrologer in the early game; it can partly compensate for a low Mind stat and few Cerulean flasks, increasing how long you can go between stopping at Sites of Grace.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                                          1. Powerstance with another axe.
                                                                                                          2. Use it as offhand weapon while 2 handing ultra greatsword and put warcry on it as warcry pnly function while the weapon is equipped. Put golden vow or shared order on a dagger offhand so u can still benefit from warcry afterward !

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

If you two hand your weapon and can afford the weight, this is really nice to put in your offhand slot. 2hand your weapon and it'll stay on your belt and regain you FP for your actual weapon's weapon art. If you use it for this and don't care to upgrade it, the Golden Vow ash of war is perfect for it since despite it being an ash of war its percentage bonuses won't care about the weapon's upgrade level. At the very least you can use it as another buff before bosses, then go back to 2handing your main weapon.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

The FP regen works no matter if you get the killing blow or not, and someone times you'll just randomly gain FP when something decides to fall off the edge which was nowhere near you. This is particularly useful when playing in co-op, AND it will even work if you off-hand it and decide to two-hand a whole different weapon.

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

Pretty good weapon in of itself. With Hoarfrost Stomp you can clear groups of enemies for free (It's also my go-to weapon for clearing mines because HFS will easily kill the miners and the FP regen makes it spammable)

FP regen happens when ANYTHING dies while you have it on an active weapon slot. So if enemies are fighting each other and die? You get FP. If your Ash summons die? You get FP. You kill anything, even random animals? You get FP.

Makes it a great weapon for any caster build as it is free FP regen outside of bossfights (Well, Starscourge Radahn you can regen off of all the summons for example) and is much lighter and available earlier than the other weapon with the same effect (Sword of Milos)

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Not the best for bosses that lack minions though.

Meaning you can kill with a tool or spell and still get the fp regen.

                                                                                                                          • Anonymous
