Scimitar is a Curved Sword in Elden Ring. The Scimitar scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity is a good Weapon for Melee-Based Strength and Dexterity characters.  

Scimitars are a fantastic weapon for damage output when status is applied to them due to their swift slashing moveset. The decreased range may be an issue for some players, but it is a powerful weapon regardless, especially when given a Blood infusion.

 

A curved sword with a single-sided blade.
Delivers slashing attacks with its sharp blade, but is ineffective against armor and hides covered in tough scales.
Smaller in size than most curved swords, it carves into enemies with quick, sharp cuts.

  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below. Additionally, the running attack speed, first attack speed of straight sword has increased. The attack recovery time has also decreased.

Requires regular reinforcement with Smithing Stone [1], Smithing Stone [2], Smithing Stone [3], Smithing Stone [4], Smithing Stone [5], Smithing Stone [6], Smithing Stone [7], Smithing Stone [8], and Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, as well as Occult Affinity Ashes of War.

This upgrade cannot be enchanted with Magic or boosted with Consumables.

      The scimitar has a unique moveset compared to other curved swords that I've seen.

      Definitely a must-have for fashion souls because the moveset ads to the fanciness of it.

        Is this weapon good on a quality build? I've been experimenting with a greatshield on the offhand (love the counter speed, by the way) and since this one doesn't scale particularly well with strength, I was wondering if it might be at all decent with both stats levelled up roughly even.

          Warrior starting class scimitars have the default spinning slash. Stormblade is only in the network test warrior

            I'm running six of these bad boys on my dex bleed build for the AoW mixups. Running Bloodhound's Step, Raptor of the Mists and Sword Dance in the right hand; Double Slash, Bloody Slash and Blood Blade in the left. Funny as hell watching people not know how to react lol

              Using this in offhand with halberd is quite good. One handed moveset is extremely fast, letting you get a hit and roll away before opponent retaliates. Also good for rollcatching.

                  The moveset this and the shamshir have is awesome. I immediately fell in love with it when I saw people using the scimitars in the network test. After having played Ds3 for countless hours seeing the straight sword / curved sword meta, I was pleasantly surprised to see a detailed attack chain that wasn’t 2 repeating attack animations. I always thought this was something Fromsoftware improved with the trick weapons in Bloodborne, but regressed in with the release of DS3.

                    Farmed this in the Stonesword key locked room of Tombsward Catacombs, got 3 Grossmessers and a wooden shield before I got one scimitar from the other skeleton, but it can indeed drop it.

                      Compared to other light curved swords, Scimitar have an unique quick attack animation (different feet animation giving it more forward momentum / covering more forward distance).

                        I know its bad and not the "proper" way to play cs anymore but I still use this two handed. I'm permanently stuck in dark souls world where r1 frame advantage is king. It's nowhere near as good as it was in ds3 (less range, nerfed moveset) but idk lol, its still just fast and costs almost no stamina and surprisingly the charged R2 deals a lot of posture damage. Feel like by late game I had an advantage over other players because I could just bully bosses like Godfrey/Mogh/Niall/Radagon by squeezing in R1's in between their attacks and 2-3 stack of R1's at the end of their combo when its "safe" for slower weapons to counter attack. It's a really boring way to play the game but idk it makes the game easy for me.

                            Best curved sword due to the unique moveset it shares with Shamshir but has better Dex scaling. Blood infusion all the way on a Dex/Arc build. You might be wondering why Arc? Arc increases the amount of Bleed it will have. You also may be wondering why the unique moveset matters if ylu power stance, which you should do. Well power stance attacks use a lot of stamina and they are a bit slower. Sometimes you want to use R1 attacks instead of L1 even in powerstance and this unique moveset makes the R1 shine and gives this weapon far more versatility in powerstance than other curved swords. Against bossed immune to bleed, switch to Keen and use Greases. For Radahn, use Rot Grease.

                              My friends and I have, since Dark Souls 3, affectionately referred to the parry animation of curved swords as “The left half of a disco dance.” Spam it for a few seconds if you need a chuckle today.

                                The links for different weapons and where to acquire them isnt optimised. For example, it states that you can obtain the scimitar from the Twin Maiden Husks and neglects to comment on the drop from skeletons.

                                Although it shows it when looking up skeleton, this should still be stated on the weapons main page. Other weapons may have similar issues but please amend this for consistency and for more coherent navigation in this site.

                                  Don't do this. Use two scimitars, put Blood ashes on each of them, and your damage will be through the roof. Running one scimitar with a shield is going to be underwhelming, and if you are playing for crits there are much better weapons suited for that.

                                      So, obviously dual bleed scimitars are great. Has anyone tried dual frostbite to see how that handles? Seems like the defense debuff combined with the hilarious DPS these can put out would do some impressive things.

                                        Started as Warrior with two of these, and actually stuck with them until the very end. Not gonna lie, in terms of pure damage in PvE, these are nothing to sneeze at. LB spam is very decent DPS, and running/jumping LB is a very solid burst for when you don't have as much of an opening. There are some obvious flaws, like not the best of reaches, no other damage types than slashing, unimpressive poise damage, rather lackluster moveset outside of dual wielded attacls, or lack of any auxiliary effects, but you can learn to play around them, and if you're fine with a playstyle that involves a lot more dodging than blocking in terms of defensive play, you'll be rewarded with a simple, but very solid all-rounder choice for a fast weapon.

                                          I've recently completed the game with dual keen scimitars. These things hit like a truck with the right setup, the key is to master the spacing game and use those running LB attacks. They melt everything if you have the talismans that increase attack power with successive attacks, and the one that increases the final hit power on a combo attack. Yes, you can complete the game with starting gear. Heavy armour and flashy weapons/spells are completely optional.
