Scripture Wooden Shield is a Small Shield in Elden Ring. The Scripture Wooden Shield is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength. Small Shields usually weigh very little and has the least form of protection from attacks. They are often used by players who prefer Parrying rather than Blocking. Its lighter weight also makes it ideal for quick, agile characters with low equipment weight capacity.

 

A small, wooden roundshield. It is light and easy to handle, but cannot offer the damage negation of a metal shield.

An ancient cipher engraving lines the circumference. Though it isn't much, it boosts holy damage negation.

 

Where to Find Elden Ring Scripture Wooden Shield

The Scripture Wooden Shield Shield can be found at the following location

  • Starting Equipment for the Astrologer Class.
  • Dropped by Skeletons who wield it or who wield an Iron Roundshield. They will be holding a Scimitar in their other hand.
    • 2 of them can be found at the start of Auriza Hero's Grave, in the first safe spot on the right while going down the first slope.
    • 2 can be found at the beginning of Deathtouched Catacombs, 1 before the first set of stairs and 1 afterward around the corner. (Note: The skeleton model holds an Iron Roundshield, but will drop the Scripture Wooden Shield.)

This upgrade cannot be enchanted with Magic or boosted with Consumables.

      Can also be farmed from the 2 skeletons in the Stonesword Key area of the Tombsward Catacombs. Probably the most efficient place considering it's so close to the Site of Grace.

        Pretty well rounded shield on a magic infusion, with around 50% damage reduction for magic and holy damage. That's not as good as ice crest or gilded iron on a magic or sacred infusion individually, but wooden scripture offers decent resistance both at once and at half the weight.

          Best place to farm to keep waste of silver four toed fowl feet is in Black Knife catacombs, the first skelly downstairs from site of grace drops it, and its the fastest run back to reset and keep the discovery bonus active by far

              I didn’t know this existed until I got one from a skelly in deathtouched catacombs and I have hundreds of hours invested in this game and even farmed the skeletons for their weapons but somehow never got this lol.

                All these different small shields as parrying tools are kinda redundant. Any shield under at 3 units or less isn't going to be much of a problem for weight, and people are going to slap on Golden Parry or Carian Retaliation anyhow. At this point, picking any small shield is gonna be about fashion

                  All these different small shields as parrying tools are kinda redundant. Any small shield =/< 3.0 units that can parry apart from the buckler all perform the same, and you can put in Carian Retaliation or Golden Parry anyhow. Choosing one would more likely be for fashion purposes.

                    All these different small shields as parrying tools are kinda redundant. Any shield that can parry at 3 units or less isn't gonna be much of a burden to carry, and most people are gonna slap on Carian Retaliation or Golden Parry anyhow. So, since lots medium shields outclass small shields in blocking, picking up a small shield is mostly gonna be a fashion question for most people.

                      If you don't want your Elden Bling game to die of cringe from using the Rickety Shield, this is the next best thing for a Carian Retaliation tool. Looks swanky, the best magic defense of 1.5 weight shields so you can still block spells if you run out of FP or something, and also gives you a humble holy defense buff. Also consider the Red Thorn Roundshield if you prefer one slightly better suited to lightning and fire.

                        Weird the skeleton drop this since they are using the Iron Roundshield. I’m specifically talking about the one in the room behind Imp Statue in Deathtouched Catacombs. Though others might be same

                          They buffed it up nicely, a modest 70% defence with a better 38 Boost instead of 56% or something along those lines with the 30 Boost, both versions of the stats unupgraded.

                              Can confirm it does drop from those two Skellies in Auriza Hero Grave. Took about 11 runs with 200+ item discovery.

                                Indeed does drop from skeletons. I used the ones in Auriza Hero's Grave. Go down and there are 2 of them in the safe place on the right wall.

                                  Are we sure these drop from Scimitar/Shield Skeletons? I have farmed these guys in both locations listed in the comments for an hour each with 40 Arcane and using Silver-Pickled Fowl Feet. All I get are Scimitars. Also, not to mention, the shield these Skeletons are wielding is the Iron Round Shield. Is there something I'm not understanding here?
