Curse grown on a body defiled by the Dung Eater.

Seedbed Curse is a Key Item in Elden Ring. Seedbed Curse Curse grown on a body defiled by a Dung Eater. They are used in the Dung Eater's questline in which five must be given to him to complete.

Curse grown on a corpse killed and defiled by the Dung Eater. A tender pox afflicted with omen horns.

The Dung Eater cultivates the seedbed curse on corpses.

By doing so he prevents dead souls returning to the Erdtree, leaving them forever cursed. One of the most loathsome things found in the Lands Between.

Where to find Seedbed Curse in Elden Ring

  1. Leyndell Royal Capital: After you exit the room with East Capital Rampart grace, continue south past the Oracle Envoys and into the building. Inside, head down the stairs and face west to take the elevator. After the elevator continue west into the next building. Climb up the ladder to your right and go up the stairs. On the highest floor you will find the Seedbed Curse on a corpse sitting in a chair. [Map Link]
  2. Leyndell Royal Capital: In the alternate version of Roundtable Hold located near the Fortified Manor grace, inside the equivalent of the Dung Eater's room. You will find it on a body that is strapped to a chair. [Map LinkVideo Location
  3. Leyndell Royal Capital: On the body of the Blackguard at the end of his questline, in the outer moat near the Capital Ramparts grace, where the Dung Eater invades. If you did not do Blackguard's quest before Dung Eater's invasion, you will not be able to receive this particular Curse and you will need to provide the other five to Dung Eater instead.
  4. Volcano Manor: From Temple of Eiglay, proceed until you reach the teleporter to Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, then go back into the building and up the stairs to find a fog door that requires a Stonesword Key. Carefully drop down in the dark room using the hanging cages. The item will be on a body that is sitting on a chair guarded by enemies. To the opposite side of the room there's a path leading back to the door in the Volcano Manor lobby that can now be opened. [Map Link]
  5. Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: From the Prayer Room Grace, head forwards until the end of stairs with two crossbowman above you. Jump on to the arch to the right and hop on to the platform to the left with the Crimson Teardrop Scarab. To the left should be a room with a Cleanrot Knight and a chest containing Cleanrot Knight Finlay Ashes. Hop onto the arch to the north-west and follow it up to a balcony. Follow the balcony to its end and the item will be found on a body sitting in a chair above the ballistae and the Putrid Avatar. [Map Link] Video Location
  6. Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: From the Prayer Room grace, keep heading forwards, going down every staircase you come across. Drop down and head towards the room with two Cleanrot Knights inside but instead of entering, jump over the railing to the right and drop down one level. Turn around, enter the dark room right under the railing and you will find it on a body that is sitting in a chair. Video Location

Alternate Seedbed Curse: If  the Erdtree has been set ablaze, the Seedbed Curse in the alternate Roundtable Hold can be found in a different location, on a corpse underneath a wooden shack protected by a gargoyle found outside of the alternate Roundtable Hold.

I picked up a seabed curse before speaking to the dung eater or unlocking his room, does it ruin his questline or doesn't really matter ?

      • Anonymous

Coming here from Selvinius page after getting there from Rannis page... yo dawg, I heard you like quests within quests within quests that take multiple area reloads and dialog exhaustions without quest log and high chances of bugs that may or may not affect the further quest line.

        • Anonymous

if you have yet to collect the seedbed curse from leyndell-roundtable before defeating maliketh the curse can then be found by the small wooden shack to the north corner; between where the stonesword key and gravelstone seal was

I was pretty disappointed by the Dung Eater ending. Spoilers, I guess. I just sit in a chair and the narrator says I cursed everyone. Yeah… I knew when I completed the Dung Eater quest line that I’d be cursing everyone. Show me something. Show me how people are being cursed. Or subvert my expectations. Maybe show my character in pain or something. Anything more than telling me what I knew was going to happen happened. The only other ending I got so far was the Frenzied Flame ending. That one was fantastic. I hope the rest are good. If I get another disappointing one I’m going to just look them up on YouTube.

I wish this article had screenshots of the seedbed curse locations. Mostly because I want to look at the environmental cues of the room and see if I can learn anything about who the victim might've been and why the dungeater defiled them.

              • Anonymous

They missed a location. In the ashen capital, there is one in the area with the legendary smithing stone and the valiant gargoyle.

Is it .. weird, there are 2 seedbed curses in the Haligtree's brace?

That implies the doodoo-banquetor made it to the Haligtree, as the defilement leaves a person to die,

I made the black guard angry with me and forgot to atone for my sins, so when I killed the dung eater I atoned and found him selling crab, but the dung eater doesn’t kill him, so I killed him and went back, he didn’t drop the seed.

Can an English major help me out here? What the heck does 'tender pox' mean? How can a pox be tender? Does it go 'oww!' when you poke it?

                      • Anonymous

You can get 6 Seedbed Curses if you don't turn in 5 before it, leaving you with 1 extra, that AFAIK doesn't even go into NG+.

                        • Anonymous

didn't know you use all of them at once on him, i wanted to use one at a time before giving him seluvis's potion just to subject him to as much pain as possible before ultimately turning him into a puppet making all of the pain unnecessary

                          • Anonymous

you only need 5 seedbed curses to complete the questline. there are 6 available in any given playthrough. you do NOT need to obtain the dung eater puppet in order to complete his questline. blackguard boggart's seedbed curse is the only one you can potentially miss out on, the rest are all just scattered around as items you can pick up at any time. hope this helps.

it's confusing but here's how I get it: there are 6 seedbed curses. for completing Dungeaters questline you need 5 seedbed curses. that means you can save Boggart and even get the Dungeaters ending. You just need to wait to buy prawns a crabs AFTER you 1. make Dungeater your puppet 2. after you finish Dungs questline 3. after you kill him first time you see him. Confusing part is that you need to "show" to Dung 1 seedbed (for puppet) and then "give" him 5 for his ending but after you show him first time your seedbed curse remains in your inventory as a key item and you only need to find 2 in Leyndel and last 2 in hallightree. It means Dungeaters puppet is meant for late game or kill Boggart to get it :D Same with prawns and crabs: You want boost? wait for late game or sacrifice Bogg :D

I don't know when this page was last updated but I still have two seedbed curse still in my inventory after speaking to him at roundtable hold. I'm not in any doubt of that because I've only found the two at leyndll royal capital, but not the one you get from blackguard's body. Does that mean I've made a mistake somewhere and I'm locked out of getting his sword and puppet summons this playthrough?

                                • Anonymous

you get another one if boggart is killed by dungeater too so in total i guess you can get 7 in per game, after you get one and give it to him, he will ask to find his body, i got the 3 on lyndel, the one from the volcano manor and one from the tree i gave them to dung and he died so i guess there is one leftover

You actually put these things inside Dung's rectum and the mending run might be his interior sphincter. And these might be malformed hemorrhoids. Let that sink in.

                                    • Anonymous

You can also find a Seedbed curse in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. It can be found close to the gargoyle walking by the remains of the dragon. Next to the remains of a shack, you’ll see the remains of a defiled body.

                                      • Anonymous

So, I have a question: I found three of these things before being able to give him any (hadn't progressed far enough). After offering him some Curses in his BDSM chair, they've all vanished. Did I give him all three at once, or did my game bug out?

                                        • Anonymous

The reason why there’s 6 is probably because you can’t get the one in Leyndell if you turn it to ash, but then you have to get to Elphael to get the other one.

                                          • Anonymous

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but I found one Seedbed Curse in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. In the area where the wandering gargoyle is, sitting next to a wooden stable/warehouse building.

So these things are basically a dude's balls that dungeater has defiled and infected and now has omen horns growing out of it from my understanding

                                              • Anonymous

To the 6th of April guy: You really went above and beyond with your comment, especially since not a lot of people are gonna see it sadly, but I would like to add on to what you stated

I believe his reason for doing these things, could be his mindset: If everyone is cursed, no one is cursed. A modern example would be: If everyone has no legs, then no one would be treated differently, and it would become the new norm

I hope you have a good day, the human reading this I mean

                                                • Anonymous

I have 2 seedbed curses but idk what they are used for and the cursed dung dude keeps saying the same old thing over and over again

                                                  • I saw no comments about this, so, just to be sure...
If you think you've locked yourself out of the path where you can give the seluvis potion to Dungeater (after beating the game, realising you can only get 4 curses 'cause you didn't finish the Blackguard quest and made Leyndell to be covered in ash WITHOUT getting the seedbed curse on the highest floor of a certain building past the doot-doot boys), you can actually just talk to him at the roundtable hold after beating him up at the lake outside Leyndell's walls and he will spawn inside his usual room in the sewers, which gives you an option to give him the potion and do the rest of things!
I'm terribly sorry if I'm being dumb and writing something really obvious, but I actually couldn't find any piece of info regarding my situation, so, again, just to be sure...

                                                    • Anonymous

Didn't find seedbed curse on location 5 and 6. Got Somber Smithing Stone instead. However, I found one near Drainage Channel site of grace. I should mention I killed Blackguard when I first met him at Liurnia.

                                                      • Anonymous

To clarify #1: From the East Rampart site of Grace, take the West door. Once you're outside, turn to the South. Make your way past the trumpet guys and the Gargoyle(?) breathing fire. Through that door, you'll see a room filed with plants, and a guy with a rapier and crossbow. Go down the spiraling stairs and take the elevator to the West. At the bottom, continue West through the door leading to a Perfumer and a few undead. Go up the ladder on the North end of that room. At the top of that ladder, turn to the South to see one last staircase. The Seedbed curse is in the middle of the room at the top of those stairs.

                                                        • hmmm you can get #3 before you kill rykard, i have 3 of them and have not been to haligtree, and do not even know what "alternate version of roundtable hold" is(assuming its later in story) but i have explored just about every single inch of volcano manor asides from killing rykard since i want to finish Tanith's quests and killing him locks you from her last quest which for some absolutely stupid reason is in mountaintop of the giants.... AFTER leyndell the dungeon that comes AFTER volcano manor... super weird and nonsensical design& direction choice imo lol

                                                          • Anonymous

i dont get the first one... what is the big building? after i take the elevator there is another small elevator straight ahead and no other big building... wtf?

I don't think I'll give him 5 seeds to get this ending, I'd rather he becomes a puppet whether the mage dies or not kekw

There is one more in Endgame. Its in the Ashen Capital behind the west capital wall near the place where the round table is located

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

6th at Elphael is wrong. Corpse sitting in a chair had pickled turtle neck and other treasure near it wasn't that either. And there's 3 Crystalian scarlet rot bosses in that room + if you're lucky, the crazy caterpillar guy spitting poison at you, will be there also :) Fun times, fun times.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

Here are the ones I found:
                                                                              1. Leyndell Capitol near the East Capitol Rampart as described above
                                                                              2. Leyndell Capitol on the upper floor of the Fortified Manor as described above
                                                                              3. In Volcano Manor, as described above (note if you did the Volcano Manor quest you may not have seen the transporter to Rykard yet even if you beat him so you might have to go back)
                                                                              4. Acquired from Blackguard's corpse, you need to first find him from the Rya's Necklace quest line, keep him alive, and he will be where the Dung Eater invades you selling crab. Keep talking to him until you exhaust his dialogue, rest at a grace and come back and he will be dead with a seedbed curse and his gear.
                                                                              5. in the Haligtree area past the Prayer Room grace. From the grace follow the rampart keeping on the high road until it ends, on your right there is a small path you can jump to over the railing. From there look left, you can jump to an area with a red dung beetle flying around. Keep proceeding across the area, follow the next path upwards and you'll find a fifth seedbed curse from a corpse on a chair.

Giving 5 seedbed curses to the Dung Eater will progress the quest and you'll be able to pick up the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.

                                                                              • Anonymous

I gave him five SEEDBED CURSE and the screen turned black he screamed and I got key item called Mending rune of the fell curse .
the item effect is " can be used to mend the shattered Elden Ring" so I think its another ending choice.

                                                                                • Anonymous

The one at Ephael is in a room close to the first grace in the area, drop to your right as soon as you see a floor underneath. There, a door will take you to another body with a Seedbed.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

A fourth is acquired from Blackguard's corpse as you move through the dung eater's quest. I let him live in when retrieving the pendant so I don't know if you can still get it if you killed him.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Also, having one on a character and talking to red phantom npc in the roundtable hold (not on the wiki) will trigger a special dialogue, amd he'll give you the sewer key

                                                                                          • Anonymous

This one was confusing and I don't understand it all but after you get this you talk to the Dung Eater in the left wing of the Round Table. He gives you a key and says to find his corporeal flesh. You go to the sewers under the capital by dropping down a well underneath the dead dragon's wing. Then find the grace and from it take a left go all the way and drop down into the hole. Continue on and you find and free his body. Then the Dung Eater at the Round Table leaves a message to go to the Outer Moat. This is the water by the Capital Rampart grace (-94, 116 on the interactive map). He invades you and after you kill him he has more dialogue in the Round Table. He tells you to use the Seedbed curse on his flesh back in the sewer. When you get to him though you have the choice of using the Seedbed curse or Seluvis' potion that he gave you to give to Nepheli. I chose the Seluvis potion which seemed to kill him. Then talking to Seluvis, he will now teach you sorceries.

If someone could, I'd like to know what happens if you use the Seedbed curse on him because I did not choose that option. Also, I haven't even met Nepheli yet but I guess something else will happen because you didn't give the potion to her. If someone could tell me where she is I would appreciate it.

                                                                                            • So far I think 3 seedbed curses have been found. The two listed here currently are correct but there is a third somewhere that needs to be tracked here. There is most likely more than need to be discovered as more than 3 are needed to progress the current stage of Dung Eater's questlined.
