Silver Scarab Effect in Elden Ring
Silver Scarab raises Item Discovery by 75.
Where to find Silver Scarab in Elden Ring
- Found in a chest in Hidden Path to the Haligtree. In the large central room, there is a broken section of railing. There, you can drop down to an invisible platform, and walk to a small room. The chest is past an Illusory Wall, behind the Grave Glovewort (9). [Map link]
- Tip for finding the way on the invisible bridge: Hoarfrost Stomp will easily reveal the invisible walkway. Alternatively, use glowing stones, throwing knives, or arrows (fire or shining work the best).

it’s encountered later but not useless—you still have to farm the elusive blue maille set

So many ppl whining about not getting the scarab til endgame. If it bothers you that much, summon a friend with your old character, drop the scarab for them to pick up, then summon them again with a new character and get them to pass it back to you. Now enjoy your inventory filling up like crazy with tons of duplicate weapons and armor in early game that you'll never use and that aren't even worth selling since you cant bulk sell them. Have fun selling each item one at a time for 100 souls each :P

I would not be mad if this would not be the ONLY permanent item discovery gear in the game. Like, when you get there it's completely useless. It's in one of the last areas in the game. In Ds2 for example you had jester hat, prisoners, covetous ring, lots of bronze coins and watchdragon parma etc. Most of them were avaible before Drangleic Castle, the middle of the game. And now you only get the serpent ring, at the end of the game.

This thing is giving +76 rather than +75 at some points... I'm working my way up through the 50s of Arcane with the Silver Tear Mask, Marika's Soreseal, and the Silver Scarab, noticed my post-equipment item discovery only went up once every other level because Silver Scarab is a bit overzealous sometimes it seems

Want an item that help[s you with farming? Here it is 3/4 into the game. Want another item to help you with farming? You're gonna have to farm for it. The main reason why this game will never be a 10/10? Farming.

The point is symbol of avarice can be obtained at the 2nd area in ds3. This is just too far into the game. Imo. Forced to eat chicken feet and farm the birds. What about a lesser version +35 or something

"And now that you've almost finished the game and probably already have all the items you wanted, here is a talisman that increases item drops."

When I see Miyazaki I'm gonna make him farm 500 titanite slabs from the Darkwraiths in New Londo Ruins. That'll learn him.

Such a kick to the balls getting this so late in the game that it becomes useless, definitely mod it in if you have the means.

The main issue here is that farming as a concept in games, is absolute garbage. The Souls series has always had it though so you should know what to expect.

Anyone else condone the use of code editors to get this talisman early? honestly the soulsborne devs putting luck boosting equipment at the end of the game is such a middle finger to the player base.

For everyone wondering how to leave after picking it up. Go to the other side by the invisible bridge (do not divert or you'll fall), then go to the direction of the snow mountains, it'll start to descend, at the end there's a small dungeon with mimic tear as final boss. Please add this important information to the page if you can. I couldn't find where to edit.

I like how they reversed the perpose of gold and silver items compared to Dark Souls games.

The item discovery that this one talisman provides alone is INSANE! It's absolutely worth the detour toward the Path to the Haligtree dungeon just for this, even if you have no intention of moving on to the Consecrated Snowfield.
Just remember to watch for the dropdown to the invisible walkway.

Stop with the negative comments and complaining. It’s easy to farm ruins, use a holy sword in an area with a group of skeletons. Then rest at the grace and repeat. This talismans boost your discovery by a lot you will notice a difference if you be a little more positive. Also if you’re trying to get more armor etc from enemies you have to farm they don’t drop it one time.
Good vibes and stay positive.

Ironic that a talisman that boosts discovery takes a while to discover. I wonder if there is any lore binding it to the place you find it in.
- Anonymous
Why is this so late game? +75 discovery is not remotely OP, especially with how low drop rates for armor/weapons seems compared to other fromsoft games (in my experience)

I guess the flight pinion grind is gonna remain just as painful for my entire playthrough...

Hey, If anyone wants to help me duplicate this weapon my PlayStation tag is: OverlordFelicia

Why do you have to post the complainy-comment about how late in the game this is when there are already 50 comments about it? There’s a little thumbs-up button you can click if you agree dudes, some of us are here looking for other info and we don’t care how mad you are. Cheers everybody!
Can't get it until super late game, so its value is greatly diminished compared to previous items of this type in other souls games.

Whats the deal with people complaining about the location? It really is not necessary to farm for any weapons or armor until late game. An argument can be made for smithing stones, but the bell bearings make that obsolete as long as you don't waste the stones they give you. If you really want to playthrough the game with specific armor or weapons it is much more rewarding to do that in NG+. All that considered I still farmed plenty of drops without this talisman and minimal arcane, just from eating silver chicken feet

I cant get the illusory wall to break, even looked up if I was atta king the wrong one, restatted so i could try law of regression. Anyone got any idea why that is?

Ice Grind hatchet special ground freeze attack is the best at making the invisible bridge, visible.

As a point of comparison to how much later it is than equivalent items in previous titles, if I'm understanding correctly, it is also much more potent. (As described elsewhere in the wiki, item discovery is at a rate of 100 = 1x drop rate, so that 200 would be 2x drop rate. Therefore, this is a 1.75x drop addition to the base 100, greatly trumping the ~20% offered in the Souls series.)
I'd wager that the real point of putting it so late is so that item discovery couldn't be nearly doubled in a single talisman slot, and risk trivializing crafting mat grind so that everyone has full consumables at all times.
Apologies if this prints multiple times, but this is totally false. The covetous gold serpent provides a comparable item find bonus. This is comparing to the silver serpent which is the Elden Ring gold scarab

Hmm.. should I run to end-game to get this item or just farm normally to get my desired drop... Nahh im sure ill get the drop in the next try anyway. Me before my 100th attempt.

All the people complaining about this item. Use it NG+ because who just plays a From game once?
- Anonymous
People hurt about locking this in endgame
Well, it makes great for NG+

Honestly, you have to get so far into the game just to find the item discovery talisman. You even have to get both halves of the secret medallion too, which I find just a little ridiculous. I wish they had put this in Leyndell. Then it wouldn't be TOO far into the endgame...maybe they'll change its location in a future update, but they probably won't, knowing FromSoft.

This talisman mirrors my feelings with Smithing Stone access: finally available way too late and after one too many migraines.

I like how late game this item is that people complain about it but honestly as someone that's playing as a wretch, I can't see much reason in needing it unless I wanted to go for Fashion Souls unless certain weapons dropped by enemies are really that good.
- Anonymous
Proof that FROM hates us and wants us to farm loot like it's Everquest 1999....
- Anonymous
"this isn't dark souls right, what do we do for the item discovery ring?" "**** it just make it silver and make the gold one for souls idc dude we gotta finish making all these poison aids swamps Miyazaki wanted"
- Anonymous
this item would be so handy to have for people who want to farm the Envoy's long horn, Halo Scythe, or Magma blades but they lock it to this horrible area which you don't get to until you get past grand lift of rold :(
- Anonymous
I feel like this should be in Leyndell or Mt. Gelmir. It's too far in the game.
- Anonymous
The amount of enemies
armors, plus weapons and the nature of open world, why is this in the end game?
- Anonymous
To those complaining about how late it is in the game. The point of the item is to farm the gear you need to play your build in NG+ The first playthrough is where you get the hang of things and find stuff. You're not supposed to be finding specific gear in order to beat your first playthrough, if you're still dying and thinking you need gear at this point, it's most likely that you still need to get a hang of the mechanics first. Theres no reason why you can't beat the first run purely off mechanics.
- Anonymous
Everybody else already said it but I'm gonna say it anyway; locking this behind the end of the game was a **** move, FROM.
- Anonymous
Why on earth is this so damn far into the game? The Golden Serpent Ring was always an early to mid game item in previous titles.

99 Arcane + Silver Scarab Talisman + Consuming a Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot = 324 Item Discovery.
If there is any weapon or armor set that improves item discovery I am unaware of it but for now this is really nice for farming materials that don't respawn.
Does this only boost drop rates and not pickup rates from plants etc.?
I swear I pick less rowa fruit with this equipped than I do without it.
though late game, its still useful if you're playing that fashion soul/elden bling(damn you scarlet rot set!). This, with silver tear helmet, and marika's scarseal bumped my discovery form base(100) to 196.
though late game, it is plenty useful if you're playing for that fashion soul a.k.a. elden bling(damn you cleanrot set!). This with marika's scareseal and silver tear helmet bumped my discovery from base(100) to 196.

So everybody nows 75+ Item discovery means 75% more drops (+your arcane stat in %)
- Anonymous
can confirm, by the time you get this you already have all the stuff you want and theres not much for it to be used for unless you want to have an immense amount of duplicate weapons/armor pieces/random junk you dont need lmao
- Anonymous
The amount of people complaining about this item is baffling lol. Glad the game is bringing in new players but good heavens

Everyone crying here about how late game this was placed has obviously never played a souls game. Get off it, all of us vets don't ever just play one playthrough it was placed here for a reason and not one any of you newcomers understand obviously. You're not meant to find it until late game durr duh durr.

I could care less about PvP.I don’t do anything to my build for PvP.I play this game single player game!!!!!
For the folks saying it's useless to get it at the end of the game, cause there is nothing to farm consider this :
When you finished the game, you start to build and optimize your character for pvp. You want to farm stones for your weapons, and craft bombs, arrows and other consumables that require items dropping at a 3% rate on monsters.
So yeah it COULD have been placed earlier in the game, but getting it at the end of the game is still pretty usefull.
- Anonymous
It's a shame that this useful farming item can only be found at towards the end of the game.
If you're doing another save, and you're resourceful, it is possible to get this item early via phantom summoning. Remember to set a multiplayer password for your friends, and either they can give their own OR you can transfer the item from your previous save to your new one through your friend.

Farming tailsmen after games over and there’s nothing to farm epic

If you are having trouble with the path, use those little rainbow stones as they will stick to the areas you are able to walk on :)

any trap chest or portals leading near there? Otherwise pretty stupid to have it so late in game.
- Anonymous
Not sure when exactly it is you can first get this, and I'm trying to avoid too many specifics. My question is: is it obtainable before beating the Fire Giant boss?
- Anonymous
wow, why would they lock this item so far into the game?
this isnt "late game" its end game, you can literally pick this up and get killed by Loretta in the same 10 minute span.... this was horrible placement on the devs part, at this point its practically pointless to farming groups unless they want to only farm in NG+
- Anonymous
It's so sad it can only be acquired in lategame. Well I guess back to farming birds

Silver Scarab is in Hidden Path To Haligtree, after one climb up a flight of stairs you need to jump off crack in the fence (you'll fall on invisible track), go across near doorway and scarab will be in chest
I reckon this should be in Mohgwyn Palace so you can get it early if you're up for the challenge
