Silver Tear Mask is a Helm in Elden Ring. Silver Tear Mask is a Medium headpiece that greatly increases Arcane to the detriment of physical attack power. Silver Tear Mask protects the player's head by applying various defensive properties, it also changes the appearance as well when it is equipped. Some armor pieces may be available to both genders but may be slightly different for male and female characters.
Mask fashioned from the corpse of a formless Silver Tear, supported by its hardened, shed husk.
Greatly increases arcane to the detriment of physical attack power.
To imitate the imitator is a cunning play indeed.

Slap this thing with altered fire prelate set and you got yourself a fat shiny metallic boi, put iron jar aromatic on top, fire deadly sin, and the fissured tears with one of the mighty ass-jump ash of war and you got yourself... Something looking somehow super cool, scary and effing nuts, for some reason. Add the jar canon and pulley crossbow with explosive bolts and cavalery lance with bloodblade incant with the ice spear skill and it's just ridiculous how that whole thing gets crazy. It's like litterally slap some weird stuff together and it ends up being super cool and fun to play

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think this thing looks quite nice with the White Reed Armor

The only use for this helmet over the Mask of Confidence is when you are a caster. For any dragon/melee hybrid build I would argue that the 5 extra points in arcane are absolutely not worth losing the AR for. Since most dragon incantation builds cap their arcane at 45, you have so much space to level other points that dropping that 5% AP isn't worth it. The best Talismans give 8% damage increase to their respective field. Why would you sacrifice 5% damage and place those points elsewhere?
If you are in NG+ and you have two Dragon Seals? You want to chain smash things and get that second bonus? Yeah, go wear this helmet, is is going to wreck everything that isn't able to knock you down to the ground.

It wouldn't look terrible if it didn't have that faceplant plate on the front. If it was just undulating silver... it'd be cool!
But yes, it looks terrible. Like any helmet in this game.

A must-have for farming any equipment. +8 Arc is pretty good even with its AR reduction.
- Anonymous
I'm unironically wearing this just for the fashion right now.

This is the reason I hate making arcane builds, this thing is the ugliest headgear in the game hands down. But the stats aren’t bad and the +8 levels to arcane ridiculous for a mask, making you basically required to wear it in a build that uses even a bit of arcane. Wearing this shows that you couldn’t care less about what your character looks like and you are only interested in stats.I propose that from reduce its arcane to a more reasonable +5 or +4 and make it so it blocks headshots like the shielded silver tears it’s modeled after
- Anonymous
On a Blackflame build, even though it doesn't really synergize with Blackflame scaling... actually that's the whole point. You can raise arcane for anything you please while maintaining the Max HP% shred. I don't know what you would use the bonus Arcane for, but people can be very creative with it.

How does it affects stamina? I tried it with katanas and looked like a was swinging a large sword... Some one have any clue?
- Anonymous
For those that didn't read it. It drops your damage output. It doesn't show on stats in red. I was wondering why I went from doing 800-900 per swing to 400-500
- Anonymous
my character begging me to take this off of him after farming every single farmable item in this game
- Anonymous
You might not expect it since it gives 8 stat points, but - Ignoring poise, this helm has the best stats per weight unit out of all helms with 4+ weight.
- Anonymous
Despite everyone claiming it isn't very fashionable, I find this mask looks pretty good with the Hoslow set and Black Flame Monk set.
- Anonymous
5% physical AR reduction is pretty much negligible for 8 stat points.
- Anonymous
I only use this to boost my discovery rate. I don't see it as being worth the -5% AR penalty and on top of that it looks really stupid as well.
- Anonymous
I'm still wondering if this and the dragon communion seal with frozen lighting and death lightning would be good because of the death blight and ice damage since the dragon communion seal scales the procs on both incantations.
- Anonymous
My question is the same as previously asked. Does this impact the damage of physical incantations like Pest threads, Swarm of flies or let's say Dragonmaw?
Especially on Pest threads I find it hard to test.
The Blue Dancer charm increases the damage of above incantations, so this might affect them as well.

My arcane is at 50, and my Ripple Blade scales purely with arcane, no strength or dex. The 8 levels in arcane that I get give the axe more AR than the 5% takes away! Ripple Blade is such a good weapon for an arcane build, it's crazy

Does this mask block attacks taken to the face, just like the Shielded Silver Tear enemies that it looks like?
- Anonymous
Great for a pure faith build (80 faith) because it allows you to cast every incantation in the game minus the INT ones. You can get around the 5% physical damage decrease by rocking dual coded swords which are pure holy

Take the mushroom armor set, replace the helm with this helm and you can roleplay the demogorgon from Stranger Things.

Is it just me, or did the 1.06 update make this helms reflective visual effect look better?
I feel like before, the effect usually looked a bit less reflective/fuzzy.

Okay, after much testing and careful calculations I have determined, that it looks cool with mausoleum knight armor, alberich's robe and royal knight armor (loretta's).

On my arc build this helmet actually makes my weapon stronger than it would be without it very nice
- Anonymous
I see this item more as a helper to meet certain stat requirements. For ARC builds it may worth just until the second soft cap.
Like me: playing as a warrior, using this to reach the ARC req to use draconic incantations (I think there's other mask that gives 3 on ARC without the 5% debuff on dmg, an these 3 will be just enough)

Using a Banished Knight Halberd, occult, mid-level (B arcane scaling), I have 50 arcane when wearing this, and my halberd does 1 less damage when wearing. Worth ofc to pump up Smarags breath breath one of the best AoE dps skills in the game and Dragonmaw the most OP 1v1 PvM skill.

An essential component of any item farm loadout. Always worth a detour for this.

If your wondering what to pair this with in terms of Fashion, Ronin chest/ gauntlets and graves looks pretty good.
The metalic colors perfectly match together, and Ronin set's original helmet is pretty ugly anyway.
This combo is also pretty light with pretty decent resistances for it's weight, so you can carry a couple of weapons with characters starting Endurance. All in all perfect item for my Arcane mage.

One of the many reasons arcane is the best damage stat in the game. 8 levels for practically free is absurd. Ripple Blade and Halberd, the only pure physical, pure arcane scaling weapons, will very often benefit more than 5% from the 8 levels. For Occult and Bleed weapons, yes, you may see a minor dip in damage, but that's more than made up for by the added status buildup(s) and level-based defense. Only the physical damage is affected so the fire damage of, say, Rivers of Blood, Poleblade, and Mohg's spear are left intact (or, more accurately, raised by 8 levels' worth). And for magic it's 100% upside unless it affects pest threads and beast incants.
- Anonymous
Is it 5% in physical only or everything else like spells, skills and ashes of war?
- Anonymous
penalty should be reduced to 3% or less(or arc boost increase to+12 or more), right now the penalty will surpass the physical ar it brings with extra 8 arc(for example, +25 occult cross naginata with 55arc AR553, 63arc 572,only 3.4% increase). Right now this item is only useful when it comes to using dragon communion seal, item farming, meeting weapon's arc requirement in early stage and fashion for some.
- Anonymous
Confessor starts with 9 arcane, 9+8=17, and the highest arcane requirement on an incantation is 17. Therefore you can cast every incantation without investment in arcane. QED
Can confirm the attack penalty does NOT reduce damage on any dragon communion spells. This item is the best helm for dragon mages.

Not only does it boost 8 levels in Arcane, it also looks pretty cool.
- Anonymous
Does anybody know what percent physical damage is reduced?
I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to put this thing on my Reduvia build, better bleed and damage but also less physical damage…
- Anonymous
This mask seems to decrease physical attack by 5% . Test with pure physical weapons. No decrease in elemental damage in other weapons. Meaning almost free stats lol.
- Anonymous
Kinda OMG if you want to use dragon seal (or albin staff) and occult weapon. +8 arcane for A or S scaling just outweighs damage negation. If you have 50(60 for S) or less arcane it will RAISE your physical occult damage. And even with 78 arcane(70+8) damage negation will be 1(albinaur) or 15 damage(For big hammer).
- Anonymous
You lose 20% from your extra damage. Anyway after 70 even +25 S scaling ripple blade lose damage. But before that it is a pretty good choice.
60-70 for S
+-50 for A
+-40 for B

I feel like this would go well with a pure arcane/faith or arcane/intelligence setup, maybe use one of the ripple weapons and buff your weapons for elemental damage

I personally love the look and it's a cornerstone of my build. Love this headpiece to death.

It doesn't raise discovery by 8, it raises Arcane by 8 which then raises discovery by 8.

I've been testing this helm for so many hours and with so many weapons with different ashes of war. I've come to the conclusion that the only real reason to wear this thing is maybe to reduce the number of hits it takes from say 4 down to just 3. But overall, the damage is quite negligible.
For example here, I have two different weapon sets. First set is:
Weap1: Morgott's Cursed Blade+9
Weap2: Bloodhound's Fang+9
Without helm:
Weap1: 276 + 263 (79 blood buildup)
Weap2: 325 + 247 (55 blood buildup)
2Hand Weapon 1's R1 attack damage to enemy: 467
2Hand Weapon 2's R1 attack damage to enemy: 501
Weapon 1's Cursed-Blood Slice damage: 530 + 168 (actual contact + delayed flame damage). Totaled to 698
----------
With helm:
Weap1: 276 + 247 (84 blood buildup)
Weap2: 325 + 219 (55 blood buildup)
2Hand Weapon 1's R1 attack damage to enemy: 449
2Hand Weapon 2's R1 attack damage to enemy: 471
Weapon 1's Cursed-Blood Slice damage: 514 initial contact and 168 from the delayed flames. 682 for the total. Which is less.
Number of hits to make anything bleed seems to be the same as well.
--------
Next weapon set:
No helm:
Weap3: Elenora's Poleblade+9:
Phys: 165 + 118
Fire: 165 + 58
72 blood buildup
Weap4: Blood Twinned Knight Swords+21:
Phys: 227 + 140
119 blood buildup (Seppuku ash)
2hand Weap3 R1 attack on enemy: 453 (a 2 hit combo with 1 tap)
2hand Weap4 R2 attack on enemy: 443 (also a 2 hit combo with 1 tap)
Weap 2's R1 damage on enemy with Seppuku activated: 492
----------
With helm:
Weap3: Elenora's Poleblade+9:
Phys: 165 + 114
Fire: 165 + 67
77 blood buildup
Weap4: Blood Twinned Knight Swords+21:
Phys: 227 + 153
126 blood buildup (Seppuku ash)
2hand Weap3 R1 attack on enemy: 442 (a 2 hit combo with 1 tap)
2hand Weap4 R2 attack on enemy: 417 (again, also a 2 hit combo with 1 tap)
Weap 2's R1 damage on enemy with Seppuku activated: 476
And again, no difference in the amount of hits it takes to inflict bloodlust.
So the answer to the question "is it worth wearing?" The answer is a solid "no way!!" There are FAR better helms in the game which add stats and damage. There are some that take away stamina or health or both and those are exceedingly helpful. This one though, no. The 8+ arcane just isn't viable as far as I can tell.
- Anonymous
8 arc but sacrificing damage. Thats 8 free levels of arcane where else can you get that lol. If youre a dragon/faith/bleed build anyway why does phy dmg matter anymore
- Anonymous
It's always the ugly looking helms that give the craziest of stats. Do I make the sacrifice and become a blob for the sake of min/max?

this mask is insane for Arcane builds, specifically DEX/Arcane river of blood. a whooping 8 arcane is nothing to scoff at.

Using this on my ARC Spellblade and so what if I have -5% AR if my albinauric staff and dragon seal go places when I have this on. Additionally has awesome stats for focus so I can cast frenzy spells more often. Wish we had more helmets with stats that don't cover the whole face, transmo in this game would make me throw another 50 gold at the devs.
- Anonymous
Is there any other armor that boosts item discovery (like Symbol of Avarice in Dark Souls) or is arcane-increasing armor the best bet for farming?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Despite the drop in AR, this feels like one of the better general purpose choices if you're not using specific headgear for your role. Better drop rates for a minimal AR drop that might not matter if you're using an elemental infusion and halfway decent defensive stats for the weight.
- Anonymous
This helmet specifically lowers the bonus damage granted by attribute scaling for physical damage, and nothing else. So this helmet gets worse the more you rely on your own str/dex for damage, but the damage down is negligible for all else.
EX: Gargoyle's Blackblade +5: (27 STR and D STR scaling)
Equipped
Physical - 175 +36
Unequipped
Physical - 175 +47
EX: Sacred Broadsword +10: (27 STR and E STR scaling)
Equipped
Physical - 137 +2
Unequipped
Physical - 137 +10
EX: Heavy Broadsword +10: (27 STR and B STR scaling)
Equipped
Physical - 169 +70
Unequipped
Physical - 169 +83
The amount reduced seems to be a min of 8, which slowly scales up the higher the number gets, something like 8 + <1%, rounded down. This helmet reduces the damage of my current sword, the Blackblade, by like, 2%, but lets me cast Greyoll's Roar without putting any levels at all into arcane.

It increases arcane by 8
Ar by 5.
If using a weapon that scales with arcnane, pure gain in every way

Seems to lower attack by 7 damage which seems very miniscule, especially if you're using a bleed dagger, the extra arcane will make you deal more dps

It apears that this item also increases the drop item by a chance. When you equip it, it shows the chicken feet stat.
The damage reduction seems to be something like 8%.
