A crossbow of simple make, usable by anyone, but lacking in both power and accuracy.
Bolts must be equipped to use a crossbow.

Guys, don't get mad about this weapon, for being too weak.
It was a weapon designated for mass production, and easy to use, so it could be given to all the soldiers around the world.
It was intended to be light and easy to use in a war, so they could worry just about reloading and shooting.
To make it possible, they used the most cheapest and lightweight materials, and because of this, the string is somewhat light, but has small draw distance and too light to shoot a bolt in a very strong way.
That's why this crossbow is weak, but very reliable at pulling aggro of a single enemy, or to be lightweight while being able to shoot on lock-on range to keep bosses from recovering their poise!

This weapon is lore accirate to be weak.
This is a weapon that LOTS of soldiers need to have, which means, mass production is something more important than quality and fancy stuffs to make it strong.
This means that people must have used lightweight strings, woods and metals, which could be easily mounted on each others to create the crossbow.
And since it's light, people can use it very easily, while still doing damage on long range.
To conclude, this is really good if you have patience to keep distance on the enemies while shooting them.
Or to just aggro only one enemy in a group and kill that guy, before getting the other one, and repeating the process.

i am going to piss myslef this **** is worthless just get arbalest or even better the pulley crossbow

if you use a heavy weapon but want to maintain light weight your choice of side arm and armour can be fairly limited..
that's where this crossbow comes in. for just 3.5 miyazaki you now have a very reliable ranged attack (42 range - that's almost 50% further than a light bow's) that can be used 1-handed.
from aggro pulls, maintaining pressure to clutch last hits (hell i've downed bossed with it). and you can even 2-hand it to zoom and snipe heads or trigger objects with it.
i having ascending mine to 25 was absolutely one of the best decisions i've made in the game

People don't seem to understand the main purpose of crossbows is to be a cheap pulling method for old-school mmorpg players. If that's what you're looking for, this is the one. Lowest weight of 3.5, you can get it pretty early, and it requires very little.

Miyazaki probably had a laugh knowing some players would actually try to defend this dookie thing, just use literally anything else lmao

Cool for doing chip damage and attracting enemies this is the best crossbow for a sidarm because it's the lightest

Don't think of this thing as a way to deal damage, you'll just disappoint yourself. Think of it as the lightest one-handed aggro machine available to the player. Now we're talking. Chances are you already have access to a thousand free bolts from all your farming, so why not?

Useful for the RL1 weirdos who can't bothered to two-hand the heavier versions. Good luck with the drop-rates though.

don't really get the point of this crossbow. does less damage than all of them, obviously. figured it could be a good "starting" crossbow but it's arguably harder to get than the light crossbow, since you have to farm enemies for a rare drop instead of just buying it for cheap. technically it has easier requirements to meet, but any melee build has the stats to use the light cb, and magic builds don't really have use for it. I guess for level 1 builds, but even then, those pretty much always use radagon's seal anyways.

East means right on the map, just spend 3 hours farming the ones to the west to no avail.

Ah yes, soldier, blade of godrick's sidearm of choice. Truly capable of destroying outer gods, let alone mere mortals and demigods

In limgrave, the best place to farm this is directly east of the death touched catacombs site of grace to the stakes, where there is a godrick soldier with a greatshield and spear and a small group of foot soldiers including two with these crossbows.

I got it quickly from going through the stormveil frontages, just avoid the ballista's and get to the red hooded ones with the crossbows

Maybe not an optimal Farmspot but i farmed mine from this Spot:
Go to the Saintsbridge Grace and Turn around. Go through the canyon and make a sharp right up the Hill towards the crucifixes. There will be three soldiers and a knight. Two soldiers wear the crossbow and can drop them.

I think that it's dumb that you can't have a no skill ash of war on crossbows.

This can be fired and reloaded one handed, and is the lightest
I know it's lore accurately weak but you straight up shouldn't use this. Light crossbow is the direct upgrade, then heavy crossbow, then arbalest
