A tip for farming at the Sellia Tunnel entrance, the prawn does not appear if you don't approach the hut. Pull the miners with arrows into the tunnel or wooden platform besides the ladder and parry/backstab them one by one.

I got real lucky and got one off a miner after like 5 farming runs in Sellia Crystal tunnel, I hope everyone else has the same fortune as I did.

I got a Somber 3 from a corpse hidden in the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, I don't remember exactly where but I think it was along the path leading up to the ruins from the cave, there's a couple hidden corpses in that area. It isn't in the list of locations to find them.

I hope the devs fix the glitch that makes the somberstone miners bell bearing (2) dissapear from your inventory. You need that item to purchase this somber Smithingstone and now I'm locked out of doing that. Thanks alot, Fromsoft.

Good luck to anyone else doing the Sellia Crystal Tunnel grind, took me 2 hours to get 1, but then I got another immediately after.

Patch 1.08.1, got one from glintstone miners in sellia crystal caves.

Took forever, and I got 4 somber 4's before getting a single 3. Sellia is a miserable grind. There's a ladder you need to climb and a pest that's constantly shooting threads at you while you try to kill the miners. It's awful.

These are a real bottleneck on the way to upgrading unique weapons. I have plenty of 4s and 5s but no 3s. Currently in Altus Plateau, got all the ones in Liurnia.

It's still possible to get these from Sellia Tunnel, but my god are they few and far between. I had 10 Somber 4s by the time I got 1 Somber 3. Best of luck to anyone grinding for them.

They can drop from miners in Raya Lucaria Crystal tunnel as well. Just got one.

Playing patch 1.06 on PC, I can confirm they do indeed drop from miners in sellia crystal tunnel. Got all geared up to farm, and it dropped from the first miner I killed

Been farming miners for almost 2 hours at the crystal tunnel. Can safely say they no longer drop.

I can confirm they drop from the miners that are where you get teleported from the ruins. I just got the stone after 3 tries

After 30 minutes of farming the Battlemage outside of Sellia Hideaway, I got 2 Stone Clubs and a Somber 4. No somber 3 for me.

There is a Somber 3 outside the entrance to Carian Study Hall, dropped by a Teardrop Scarab.

For anyone trying to farm Miners in Selia Crystal Tunnel for the SSS3, I have farmed 80k souls worth and found 2 SSS4s. It seems they where changed to drop 4s instead to prevent you from getting a 3+ weapon before Liurnia

Ive got several +1,+2+4,+5,+8,+9. But i haven't found any +3,+6,+7. Ive only been playing for 35hrs and I've covered all of the south area, ive finished everything i the starter area, east side "Caelid"? Ive finished majority of it. But im guessing the +3 are more north?

In Limgrave you can easily get 2 SS1 and 2 SS2 but SS3 don't seem to exist in Limgrave or Caelid as loot.
Farming crystal miners looks like the only way you can get them "early" if you don't want to journey to Liurnia.

You also get 2 SS4 within the Sellia Crystal Mine so perhaps that another enticement to do some farming, being able to get 2 +4 Sombre weapons.

Liurnia of lakes is earliest place to get lvl 3 somber stones.
Interactive map is wrong on all accounts of a lvl 3 in Caelid, personally confirmed, don’t waste your time.

The golden scarab east of the Gael Tunnel(Site of grace) drops a +4 not a +3
The golden scarab south in Caelid by the Caelid catacombs(Site of grace) Drops a +4 not a +3

Is it possible that drop rates are affected by story progression? I farmed the miners at sellia tunnels for many hours not getting anything. I went back every now and again, not wanting to lose hope. after i unlocked the grace at liurnia, i went and farmed and got 2 somber [3] and 2 somber [4] after killing just 20 miners.
It might be that some items are unlocked as the story moves forward/more sites of grace unlocked so as not to overpower the player early

I can also confirm that the miners in Sellia Crystal Tunnels do indeed drop Somber Smithing Stone 3. I farmed over 20,000 runes before getting one so it's exceedingly rare unfortunately.

Took about 1 hour farming the miners at Sellia Crystal Tunnel to get (2) SSS3.

The shrimps can be annoying, what worked for me is running up to them first and 2-shotting them with moonveil, leaving the rest of the miners easy to pick off.

Here’s my ultimate guide to getting SSS3 off the miners.

A. You reach the cave and explore every inch of it. You will find a few sss4 and sss5.

B. Reach the Grace point. Keep heading down until you find and can escape if you wish (go outside, the stupid cave won’t let you warp inside.)

C. Go up and kill 2 of the miners headed left. Be fast, as you don’t want the bug to rain dart hell upon you.

D. Kill that ****ing bug atop the shack. Kill the next 3 miners on the way up.

E. DO NOT GO FURTHER. You have already killed 5 miners to 1 centipede. Fighting the 2nd bug for the 6th miner guts your ratio almost in half, and adds to the clock, as well as doubling your bug misery. Go and reset.

F. **** Special Weapon +3, you now have Special Weapon +5. Go get the Elden Ring.

Has anyone had luck with the Miners in Sellia Crystal Tunnels? It seems like that would be by far the earliest way to get the somber smithing stone 3 with the early chest warp. Plus there are a bunch of stone 4's there.
