Elden Ring Star Shower Guide
- Glintstone Sorcery
- Stamina Cost: 26
- Deals magic damage
- Damage can be boosted by 10% by wearing Lusat's Glintstone Crown. This comes at the cost of a 15% increase in ALL sorcery costs
- A upgraded version of Glintstone Stars, with the same characteristics but inferior FP-to-damage ratio. Due to the high FP costs it may be deemed unsuitable for explorations, but useful for special and planned encounters.
- Star Shower, like many other multi-projectile spells, suffers in damage output in the early/mid game, due to the way absorption and defenses work. The higher level and scaling you reach, the better results you will get out of this spell
- Star Shower has extremely good tracking, even at long ranges. In addition, there is a slight delay between the cast time and when the projectiles begin moving.
- This makes Star Shower excellent against enemies that typically dodge spells, like NPC phantoms
- The good tracking also makes it an excellent choice in mounted combat, allowing you hit fast moving targets
- This sorcery may be charged by holding the input. This increases the cast time slightly, but also increases the damage.

Too strong for duels and an instant sever in invasions when 3 jobless losers spam it simultaneously

Seems like I always take chip damage from this even if I roll into it. Really don't enjoy feeling like I got cheesed to death. I like having fun while I get killed, this is whatever the opposite of fun is.

great for finishing off low health players/punishing overly passive players
also this can be absolutely nasty against low poise players to the point where this could use a poise damage nerf
- Anonymous
Lol all the mages coping and downvoting on this page. Can't wait till this undodgeable **** spell gets nerfed into the ground like SoR.
- Anonymous
contrary to the name, people who use this in pvp most certainly don't take showers

the tiny star spell should have the best tracking, this should have tracking somwhere in between the tiny stars and stars of ruin.

more damage per pellet than stars of ruin
cheaper than stars of ruin
better tracking than stars of ruin
game design is my passion

People who use this are no better than dual wielding spear users with BHS.

I see this pretty often in PvP and I feel like the poise damage on these is too high considering how easy they can be spammed. By only real option is to use some anti-magic incantations to back be up.

Now that FROM has ruined my dreams of a Stars of Ruin Touhou build just to appease the PvP crowd, would Star Shower be a viable alternative for PvE and co-op?
- Anonymous
It makes ZERO sense that this is better than its upgraded version: Stars Of Ruin. FROMSOFT should either make Stars Of Ruin have better tracking and better damage than Star Shoewer, or FROMSOFT should make Star Shower worse. But Star shower should definitely not be better than Stars of ruin. BTW everytime "FROM" nerfs something, the game becomes becomes instantly worse... instead of nerfing, they should be buffing. Balance does not = nerfing, Balance = buffing (so that other stuff are also "just as" useful in pvp)

It can be perfect dodged but it’s supposed to be very difficult to. Rightfully so. This punishes people who hover at mid range playing passive, retreating or refusing to fight. Identical in pvp utility to a faith builds erdtree heal/regen or a dex builds thunderbolt/bolt of granseax or an arcane builds dragon breath. Don’t let these builds feel safe enough to cast their slowest and most punishable win cards.

Spam this bad boy with max cast speed as soon as the arena match begins.

Extremely strong against Radahn, tried several spells and this one just tore him apart. Surprising, because it usually isn't that great a spell in terms of pure damage.
- Anonymous
Easiest way to dodge is by rolling into it not to the side of it

This is still undodgeable, please From nerf it's tracking like you did with the other. Ridiculous spell, zero counter play

Time to use this in PvP now that Stars of Ruin tracking is so bad you can just move to the side to avoid it.

Can someone explain to me how Star Shower has an "inferior FP-to-damage ratio" compared to Glintstone Stars? GS costs 14 and fires 3 stars, while SS costs 23 and fires 6 stars. So shouldn't SS do twice as much damage for LESS than twice the cost?

Since this spell can be charged, Godfrey Icon talisman increases the attack power.

I spammed this on night cavalry near lenne rise which caused it to stuck in confusion on bridge edge. Overall good spell for mounted enemies if you can't aim for **** like me

Definitely doesn't stagger like it used to as of update 1.04, feels pretty bad now. :'(
- Anonymous
I believe this got shadow nerfed in the latest update. Previously, every single projectile would stagger opponents in pvp. Now, I don't think it has staggered even once. This is what we get for using a more interesting spell than Stars of Ruin.

Absolutely fantastic against npc phantoms and npc"iish" enemies, for some reason the AI just does not even try to doge it
- Anonymous
Very underrated spell. While Stars of Ruin does more damage overall, the one advantage Star Shower has over Ruin is the ability to stagger smaller enemies/opponents. This means that it's incredibly useful during co-oping to stun certain bosses like Malenia (1st phase) from accidentally killing your host. Cycling Star Shower with Stars of Ruin can also be useful in PvP as most people would just expect Ruin and not expect Star Shower to stagger them when caught in it.

The 3-star version of this is much more FP efficient and stars of ruin, the 12 star version, has much more burst damage, otherwise it's great for PVP. If you don't have stars of ruin and you aren't planning on spamming the 3 star version than this is a solid pick.

As someone else has said, this is prob one of the bwst pvp spells im the game because the stars track and trun the fastest, the spell speed is nearly un-reactable, it does decent damage, and most importantly, this spell has high poise break and staggers opponenets
stars of ruin doesnt do that, not sure why this spell does

FP cost is high, damage is low, and it doesn't compare to the starter sorcery Glintstone Pebble because of the aforementioned issues and, naturally, how slow it casts. A trend you'll find very common for most spells in this game is that they're too slow, weak and often more expensive than your starter spell. It's hard to beat a spell that you can spam like you're swinging a sword, but a few do in certain situations.

you can also give the scroll to the turtle pope to unlock this spell. Not worth buying the spell though.

Damage is not impressive, fp cost is sort of high, not to be used carelessly, but it has its use since the tracking amazing. Good for pvp when low health and running away. Use it with pebble afterwards tends to do good work in my experience
- Anonymous
This is one of the best spells in the game when it comes to PvP. The damage doesn't matter, just charge it up and get guaranteed chip damage. It also forces your opponent to roll, letting you set-up more shenanigans, or force a roll-catch. Don't listen to anyone saying it's got too high of a cost and not enough damage, this will win you fights against players.

Only useful on horseback shooting backwards. Otherwise a complete waste of memory slot
- Anonymous
The damage barely out weighs 2 casts of pebble, even when charged dont even bother.
- Anonymous
The tracking is nice but the extremely high mana cost and comparatively bad casting speeds makes it a side grade at most

FP cost to Damage ratio is bad. Pebble still reigns supreme honestly, however it's very fast and auto-tracks the target.
- Anonymous
It has a high cost but its tracking capabilities make this spell a really good choice to use against nimble enemies compared to Pebble.

Seems to do weak damage with longer cast time compared to Pebble
I've ran into this spell so much, and yet I still really don't have an (enjoyable) concrete answer to someone spamming this without taking some damage. I hate this spell with a burning passion so I'll try and share as much information on it.
As a pure melee build, you NEED to close the distance as much as possible and stay super close to really nullify the tracking. If you're in the range of it, it's nearly guaranteed to hit you with some kind of damage unless you roll at the caster at the perfect range. If you just want to waste everyone's time, the spell is somewhat easy to completely outrange by running away completely. This is about as effective of a counter as just shutting the game off and doing something more enjoyable, but if you want to waste someone's time 9/10 times they will keep casting it to no avail I've found while you run away endlessly.
The spell options to attempt and counter this are not very effective in practice. Thops barrier is practically worthless against this, the homing is so aggressive, even if you time the block perfectly you'll STILL get hit what feels like 9/10 times. The retaliation spells only eat ONE homing spell and you still get hit by the rest. You're still taking damage so its not really worth it. I've had okay results with eternal darkness, but the homing can occasionally still find a way to hit you even getting completely re-directed. Basically there is no tried-true fool proof way to counter this with a spell.
If all else fails and you are feeling extra spiteful to waste someones(and your own) time, grab a +25 Magic fingerprint shield and just block every single cast. The absorption on the shield is so good against magic damage you'll genuinely never die if you can just balance a stamina bar well. Stack it with a basic regen spell, and this is really the only truly fool-proof counter against this. It's not fun at all for either party, but sometimes you just need to send a message. Hope this helps
