Terra Magica is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Terra Magica spell creates a spherical zone that increases magic damage when damage is dealt while the user is in the zone.

One of the glintstone sorceries of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

Draws an academy sigil upon the ground, raising the magic strength of those within.

Once, the sigil would be cast from the highest belfry of the academy, covering the entire institution's grounds. This spell allows such vivid experience of spell—casting success, it turns many a fledgling into a true sorcerer in a flash of newfound understanding.

Effect

  • Creates a spherical zone centered on a sigil, giving you a magic buff, increasing magic damage from any source by 35%, lasting 30 seconds.
  • Must be within the spell radius when damage is dealt to receive the buff.

Where to find Terra Magica

Where to find Terra Magica:

  • Requires completion of the Academy Crystal Cave dungeon and taking the elevator behind the Crystalians bosses. This leads to a tower inside the academy, on the top of which a chest containing the spell can be found. [Map Link]

Elden Ring Terra Magica Guide

  • Glintstone Sorcery
  • Stamina Cost: 12
  • Increases magic potency while standing inside of the sphere by 35% (20% in PVP)
    • The buff applies to magic damage regardless of origin (spell vs innate weapon damage, etc.).
  • Stacks with the Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear, as these two are considered to be separate buffs.
  • Scholar's Armament will not be buffed by this spell if the user of Scholar's Armament moves out of the sphere.
  • Any spell or effect with magic damage will not be buffed if the user is not in the sphere when damage is dealt. The user need not be in the sphere while casting, only when damage resolves.
  • Delayed spells/effects may be cast before terra magica; so long as the user casts Terra Magica before they deal damage, they will be effected if the user is in the radius when damage is dealt.
  • The magic damage buff lasts for 1.5 seconds when outside the sphere's radius, and will be regained upon re-entering the zone.
  • Zone reaches into boss rooms if cast just outside the fog wall.
  • Zone is a sphere slightly larger than the sigil implies.
  • Zone is cast on a fixed sphere in space, determined at the time the spell resolves (I.E. it can be cast while on a moving lift, but will be left behind as the lift continues motion)
  • Note: As of Patch 1.09, the spell enhancement effect of this spell has been reduced from 35% to 20% in PVP

Does this work with Meteor Bolts? I'm thinking of a sniper character who snipes with this enhancing the magic damage.

I can’t use terra Magica I have enough stamina and fp and the weapon I’m using is the moonlight greatsword and the giants finger seal why won’t it work?

"I've seen your kind, time and time again. Every fleeing mage must be caught into a circle." (c) Mages of Azeroth.

I know the same caster can only have one out at a time, but does anyone know if mimic tears or multiple co-op partners can stack several Terra Magicae sigils and increase the boost? My instincts say no, but as buffs go, TM is kinda weird so I'm curious

I came back to the game after a year hiatus to try a magic build and while I apparently have already looted the chest containing this spell, it's not in my inventory. Is that a bug or something?

              • Anonymous

20% is still a massive buff. Flame grant me strength and exalted flesh are a 15% damage boost while golden vow is 7.5%. Mages have incredible close range tools with carian slicer which still does a ton of damage after the nerf and gavel of haima which has a ton of hyperarmor making it hard to punish a mage in terra magica by getting close.

20% is a much better place for it in pvp.

                • This makes me so glad that PvE and PvP have separate scaling now because I only play single player and I would be so annoyed by some of these changes if I didn't. IDK what's going on in PvP but I sure do see a lot of nerfs every update. Doesn't seem like it would be much fun at this point...

Hmm, this only requires 20 Int, I'd been thinking it required more. Suddenly very tempted to make a 20 Int Horn Bow archer character (PvE and co-op memes only) using Terra Magicka and Mighty Shot. I don't think Horn Bow's pathetic Int scaling justifies investing more int than that, but that leaves me with budget for uhhh Vitality and Mind and also Str/Dex......

Idk man, if they simply nerfed just the swift pebble damage, sorceries would be balanced. I liked terra because it made a mage play smarter rather than just run away to swift pebble for 3 minutes. It’s still really powerful but the nerf seems…. Misplaced.

I kind of wish this applied to all sorceries. As it is now magma sorcery is the only group of sorceries entirely left out due to terra magica only buffing magic damage rather than magic damage AS WELL as damage originating from sorcery. It's not the end of the world but it would make hybrid builds more lucrative.

Let's nerf a spell that is literally forcing you to not move and that any experienced player can counter easily by just not going into that stupid circle or casting Barrier of Gold because why not!

Thanks God you don't have to keep jellyfish on you anymore for contagious fury buff, I find it a better alternative as of 1.09 though I have to put 14 in both dex and strength.

Max ar for Dark Moon Greatsword and Blasphemous Blade are 916AR and 1015AR respecively. Dark Moon has 542 magic damage 542x1.35=731.7+373 Physical damage is 1,104.7AR.

Blasphemous Blade has faith scaling so golden vow and flame, grant me strength are usable so (652x1.2=782.4) + (363x1.2= 435.6)= 1218AR.

                            1015- 916= 99 more AR

                            1218-1104.7= 113.3 more AR

                            113.3÷99= 1.144%

This means that Flame, Grant Me Strength by itself is better with physical/fire weapons than prenerf Terra Magica and I didn't even mention its increase stamina regen or Golden Vow and its negation buff. Weird when physical/fire has another 3 broken weapons (Eleonora's Poleblade, Mohgwyn'a Spear and Rivers of Blood) that are all arcane weapons. Arcane just being unjustly stronger than int, faith, dex and strength for no reason. Why did this get nerfed again, when it was a shackle that made you play in a little prison cell for a buff worse than any incant buff?

Glad to see bleed getting nerfed, at least.

Seems FROMSOFT is helbent of making intelligence even worse than it already was since day 1 :(
Faith boys rise, int boys cry. FROMSOFT made Faith the god of death, god of blood, god of stars, god of holy, god of lightning, god of fire, god of magic damage, god of dragons, god of scarlet rot, god of healing, god of the universe. While int is nothing in comparison.

Still almost got one shot by this from some invader. I can see that it sucks in colosseums, but that would be the case regardless of damage. It's more telepgraphed than a Falcon Punch, so it's really only good when you can get it off unnoticed. Anyway, after I face tanked his magic missile, I ran up to him and easily whopped his ass with my Claymore since y'all suck at this game.

I dont mind the nerf but 25% would have been more reasonable instead of 20% in pvp because it forces you to stand in a damn circle, t's not like flame grant me strength or golden vow.

                                    • 20% in PvP now? That's a hefty nerf for basically the only really useful buff sorcery has on top of it being a friggin circle you have to stand in.

I agree with you, it sucks for melee magic enjoyers that doens't like to stay at the same place
I hope the DLC will add something similar to Flame Grant me Strength but for mages

I wish there was a magic variant of Flame Grant me Strength
Terra magica is good but not that great for agressive mages that mostly use melee spells

                                          • Anonymous

It would be great a flame grant me strength but for mages instead, terra magica isn't great for aggressive mages and against bosses that are constantly running like Elden Beast or Fire Giant.

                                            • Anonymous

From a game design standpoint, it’s clearly designed to encourage mages to defend a position and punish enemy players reluctant to take the position. I only wish mages would use it instead of running away indefinitely with swift pebble.

It seems to have been wiped from the annals of history, but this spell was called "Terra Magicus" on release. It was only after that some patch changed it's name. It seems the weapon class "Great Hammers" was called "Warhammers" at first, but that got changed too.

To any mage out there who participates in boss co-op; If you see Terra Magica being casted by another mage, take advantage of it by standing in the sigil for boosted magic damage (Terra Magica is not a self buff; it affects teammates). The many times I've co-oped with another mage and they never seem to utilize my Terra Magica even when the placement is in their favor always kills me a little inside lol.

Does this not work with rock sling? I was testing on troll outside Godrick's boss area, and there was no difference.

                                                    • Anonymous

Does the buff work on incantations too or simply sorceries? The description mentions that it raises magic strength.

My pure int build has basically become aoe hell with this. Glintblades, magic downpour, ancestral infants head, gravity stone fan, and carian sword spells in case anything is getting too close

                                                        • Anonymous

*sighs* Sadly, yes, this does also buff Azur's Comet. Turns some boss fights into 10sec long DBZ episodes. Minus the screaming (unless you miss).

                                                          • This spell increases the damage of all magic attacks while you're receiving its buff. This includes magic infused weapons and magic weapon arts. Great for defensive pvp measures.

The buff can be used by multiple players, if you're playing with a group of sorcerers only one needs to carry the spell.

is the duration increased by the lingering dragon talisman?
(I literally forgor what this game's version is called lmao)

The wording of the spell is exactly as it says: magic strength, aka any source of magic damage. Fire or physical sorceries don't apply, since they aren't magic damage. Dragonbreath incantations that deal magic damage do, since it's magic damage. Magic weapons do, at least the magic portion of the weapon. Magic consumables do, as they are magic damage.

                                                                  • Anonymous

As previous posters have mentioned, if you couple it with the right talisman and crystal tear(s) the damage is awesome. Especially with Lusat's staff or Royal Carian staff with the moon sorceries (which just got a buff last patch). cheers H

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

Considering it says that "sorcerers would cast this at the top of the tower and lead fledglings to become true sorcerers" sounds like an interesting lore concept.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Kinda confusing since there is magic spells that do "magic" damage, and spells that also do physical/fire

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous
