Three Fingers Location in Elden Ring

Three Fingers can be found near the Cathedral of the Forsaken, below the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. You will need to remove your armor to open the door.

  • This NPC does not move and cannot be interacted with outside of the cutscene where it gives you the Flame of Frenzy.

Three Fingers Questline: How to complete Three Fingers' Quest

Finding Three Fingers will imbue the character with the Flame of Frenzy which unlocks the Lord of the Frenzied Flame ending. See Endings page.  Interacting with the Three Fingers will also affect the character with large burn scars across their body as well as burning yellow eyes, these can be toggled on or off at Fia's cosmetic mirror in Roundtable Hold or by selecting cosmetics while speaking to Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library.

Note: Removing the cosmetics will not remove the Flame of Frenzy nor will it affect the ending.

Note: The player's burning yellow eyes are removed from their eye sockets when they are not the host.

Note: Receiving the Flame of Frenzy will prompt Melina to leave your party thinking that you are no longer fit. She will also threaten to kill the player should they become the Lord of Frenzy.
She does not appear in the final cutscene if she sacrificed herself to the Flame of Ruin.

Elden Ring Three Fingers Notes & Trivia

  • By completing Hyetta's questline you will be rewarded with the Frenzied Flame Seal when you speak with her after interacting with the Three Fingers and acquiring the Flame of Frenzy.  She will disappear, leaving the seal in her place as well as 5 Frenzyflame Stones.
  • after the interaction between the player and the three fingers, they will mark your character skin and eyes, it can be removed. Once removed you can't restore the yellow eyes.
  • Meeting with the Three Fingers will lock you out of all other ending choices, unless Miquella's Needle is used at Dragonlord Placidusax's arena at Crumbling Farum Azula. This removes the Frenzied Flame, and is a permanent reversal. Players don't need to kill Dragonlord Placidusax, just by entering the arena and using Miquella's Needle is enough. It can be done after fighting the dragon, since you can still access the area.

Three Fingers Lore

Lore Items Related to Three Fingers

The Flame of Frenzy

Incantation originating from the maddening Three Fingers.

Causes the yellow flame of frenzy to burst forth from the caster's eyes.
Charging increases the range of the burst.

The flame of frenzy deals damage and causes buildup of madness. This incantation also causes buildup of madness in the caster, and is only effective against Tarnished.

Miquella's Needle

One of the unalloyed gold needles that Miquella crafted to ward away the meddling of outer gods.

Capable of subduing the flame of frenzy if inherited, allowing one to cheat fate and avoid becoming Lord of Frenzied Flame.

However, the needle is as yet unfinished and can only be used in the heart of the storm beyond time said to be found in Faram Azula.

Remembrance of Metyr

Remembrance of Metyr, the Mother of Fingers, hewn into the Scadutree. The power of its namesake can be unlocked by the Finger Reader. Alternatively, it can be used to gain a great bounty of runes. The mother of all Two Fingers and Fingercreepers was in turn a magnificently gleaming daughter of the Greater Will, and the first shooting star to fall upon the Lands Between.

Dialogue Related to Three Fingers

Melina

If you intend to claim the Frenzied Flame, I ask that you cease. It is not to be meddled with. It is chaos, devouring life and thought unending. However ruined this world has become, however mired in torment and despair, life endures. Births continue. There is beauty in that, is there not? If you would become Lord, do not deny this notion. Please, leave the Frenzied Flame alone.

I ask you, one more time. Please, seek not the Frenzied Flame. As one who strives to become a Lord, deny not the lives, the new births of this world. Those who would are not fit to be called Lord. When the land they preside over is lifeless.

Please put a stop to this madness. The Lord of Frenzied Flame is no lord at all. When the land they preside over is lifeless.

You... have inherited the Frenzied Flame. A pity. You are no longer fit. Our journey together ends here. And remember... Should you rise as the Lord of Chaos, I will kill you, as sure as night follows day. Such is my duty, for allowing you the strength of runes. Goodbye, my companion. Goodbye, Torrent...

Lord of Frenzied Flame... I will seek you, as far as you may travel... To deliver you what is yours. Destined Death.

The "yall killed me a thousand times, now i kill yall permanently with a big nuke" ending.

Yeah I'm not gonna lie I chose this ending because its the closest thing fromsoft's ever gonna give me to causing the third impact and turning everyone to fanta. In that case yellow fire goo.

The sight of this thing makes even the bravest finger maiden quiver in fear! Three whole fingers! Art thou brave enough for it?!

to everyone who says this ending is reversable, don't forget you have to kill Melania before said ending in order to reverse it.

So let me get this straight. You open the door to a room you have never been in before and it immediately locks you into a cutscene, turns you into an ugly glowing-eyed piece of beef jerky, and locks you out of all other endings unless you do a specific thing to reverse it? What an obnoxious waste of time. Cool FromSoft, very cool.

I fail to see how these guys are so bad as everyone says.
In Dark Souls, a popular take by the community is that the age of fire is flawed and perpetuates suffering so it's better to snuff it out regardless of the short term consequences. People handwave away edgy characters like Darkstalker Kampf.
So why does it seem to be the exact opposite in Elden Ring? Why do people hate FF when it's essentially arguing for the same thing: the system perpetuates suffering and it is better to have it destroyed. Why does this trigger so many people?

                            3) In the Age of Ancients the world was unformed, shrouded by fog. A land of gray crags, Archtrees and Everlasting Dragons. But then there was Fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course, light and dark. Then from the dark, They came, and found the Souls of the Lords within the flame. Nito, the First of the Dead, The Witch of Izalith and her Daughters of Chaos, Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. And the Furtive Pygmy, so easily forgotten. With the strength of Lords, they challenged the dragons. Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The Witches weaved great firestorms. Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease. And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the Dragons were no more. Thus began the Age of Fire. But soon the flames will fade and only Dark will remain. Even now there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights. And amongst the living are seen, carriers of the accursed Darksign.
Yes, indeed. The Darksign brands the Undead. And in this land, the Undead are corralled and led to the north, where they are locked away, to await the end of the world... Unfortunately for you, however, you are maidenless and simp for ranni

So from my understanding, what the three finger is trying to accomplish is reuniting the entire world, merging it all back into the original being that got shattered
Most people assume that the lord of frenzy ending is just making everyone burn forever when it's a possibility that it's actually just melting them and merging them into one singular being, returning the world to it's original state. If I remember, Hyetta's the one to tell you most of this. I'd say it's the second or arguably third worst ending.
Since two worser endings could be the dung eater one (you litterally curse everybody) and it's a debatable topic the age of stars ending as you don't exactly know if the change Ranni's bringing to this world will be good or bad meanwhile the frenzied flame ending is just everything melting and fusing, of course fire hurts but it'll be over soon.

Any lore reason as to why the three fingies are down down underground in a bastardizingly hard place to get to?

You claim the Frenzied Flame to destroy the world in primordial chaos.
I claim the Frenzied Flame so my character gets cool burn marks

I wish FromSoft added more dialogue regarding the frenzied flame and Melina. Especially considering you can save Melina by burning your own flesh and then removing the frenzied flame with Miquella’s needle. Hard to wonder if it was overlooked or just omitted since they had enough detail to remove Melina from the frenzied flame ending if she sacrifices herself before you accept the frenzied flame.

The idea of From Software for Chaos is just Evil Chaos, even Order have a good, evill and neutral side with golden order, Fia and fractured endings respectively, and for pure neutral the Ranni ending, but for the chaos side, Frenzy Flame and Dung Eater endings are just Evil Chaos, unless you saw the later as neutral chaos, not a single instance or a good chaos ending.
Sorry I play to much SMT.

People thing this ending is big mid finger to scheming outer gods, even though you are being manipulated to destroy yourself and the world for scheming Outer God.

I was marked by the three fingers AFTER the ending, will I continue to have the marks and the flame of frenzy when I start NG+?

Does acquiring the frenzied flame lock me out of any questlines aside from Melina's? I get that it locks me out of the other endings but I'd still like to do the quests for those endings anyways... and yes I know about the needle but I want the lord of frenzy ending so the needle isn't an option for me

                                                  • Anonymous

the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending is the only one that suits my tastes. the player gets manipulated into doing Melina's will from the start, "even if it does violate the Golden Order", the Frenzied Flame ending is probably the only one that frustrates her goals. doing Ranni's ending is basically simping so hard for a bunch of pixels that you decide to take an even harder path than the already hard af one. doing the Golden Order ending still leaves behind the likes of Ranni, Godwyn and who knows how many other people with twisted/wicked/despicable/questionable plans, all of them alive and well-able, with all the resources they could possibly have from the massive world to accomplish whatever they want. and after seeing so many corrupt people with so many corrupt goals everywhere, and seeing how we defeated the first Elden Lord and became the new one, its easy to imagine that one of those will probably be a potential threat, and in the case of Ranni, Godwyn and others, they might only be killable by the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending, so then you only have to worry about Melina (that is, if you have not sacrificed her in the Forge of Giants before paying your visit to the Three Fingers), and even if she is kept alive, her performance during the Morgott battle, the fact she is left with nothing but ashes and Torrent to aid her, makes her decision to try and kill a God Slayer with mastered Frenzyflame abilities sound more like a bluff than anything, and then even if she does manage to kill us somehow, maybe by using some sneaky tactic, she will be left with nothing but an ashen, deeply-burned, deeply-dead world, nothing but ashes everywhere, exactly what she deserves for trying to manipulate the creepiest, most silent Tarnished in the game, a big and epic Uno Reverse at her ass, as well as a big middle finger to all the other scheming gods, demi-gods and entities as well.

                                                    • Anonymous

It says using the needle at Farum Azula removes the frenzied flame and is a permanent reversal. Does that mean permanent for what's left of your playthrough at that point or permanent from that point and for every NG+ playthrough afterwards?

                                                                • Anonymous

This ending is really cool, if not just really sad. Honestly it looks like when Melina picks up the little rune/ring and the whistling starts, she seems to lament Torrent with a moment of silence before proclaiming her promise to killing the frenzied lord.

It's a pretty messed up ending but definitely my favorite ending! And clearly if Melina survived, there's no way there aren't any survivors or a way to reverse the damage done: she says she'll return destined death to the frenzied lord, which to me implies she'll bring order back.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Would be kind of neat if toggling the Frenzied Eyes on and off, as well as maybe the burn marks, would give you a lot of Focus (resistance to Frenzy and Sleep) at the cost of maybe taking a decent amount more damage.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous
