Thrusting Swords are a type of Weapon in Elden Ring. Thrusting Swords strike a balance between moderate damage, fast attacks, and good reach, while piercing and slashing Enemies.

Thrusting Swords can be modified by a number of Ashes of War to change their Skills or Damage Type, so play around with them and see what you like.

Thrusting Swords and Curved Swords have a built-in feint. Press dodge shortly after beginning the charge-up for a heavy attack, and another animation will happen. Some weapons (such as the Frozen Needle) shoot a projectile during this animation, allowing for additional methods of play.

NOTEAs of Patch 1.08, the speed of Thrusting Swords' crouching attacks has been reduced. Poise damage has also been reduced, but only for PVP.

The estoc should really be the longest in the class, the weapon itself is literally longer than cleanrot and it often does less damage. It having the range advantage would make more sense.

Thrusting swords are very fast weapon. But unlike many weapon rapiers dont have R2-attacks, they are able to stun knights-type enemies. So use a running attack + R2. To damage the balance, use charged R2 and Glinstone Phalanx. Three-four such attacks break knights and trolls. I like Rogier's and Noble's swords.

Scrolled to the comments to see if anyone had interesting ways to use these weapons and only found people moaning about pvp.

I know it's too op, but it can't be helped when I need to fight casters those spam a lot of magic. They're very effective.

Heavy beats keen scaling with their respective builds on every single one of these that are infusible when used 2-handed; by a fair amount too. It's kind of silly, really.

                • Anonymous

These weapons are a shining example of why ER's weapon affinity system is terrible. Thrusting swords, like most dedicated pierce weapons, have fairly low AR to compensate for their ability to exploit counter thrust damage and the spear talisman. Because of this almost reliance on counter damage, which only affects pierce, elemental affinities fare worse than pure physical (lightning damage does not benefit from spear talisman, for example). So you would think these would be related to dexterity builds, but no, strength builds can slap heavy on anything and do comparable (or higher) damage, even while 1H. Strength in ER is the quality build of yesteryear, swapping between countless various weapons, but with better damage. Claymore, spears, thrusting swords, daggers, fists, even heavy nagakiba works.

But these are also a good example of why DS3 poise was a good thing. Someone with enough poise with one or more thrusting swords can take a hit from just about anything straight to the face, not care, and unload two to four counter hit attacks before their attacker can react. No need to whiff punish, just face tank.

effectively pvp on easy mode. powerstanced? stupidly high damage and insanely fast. 2-handed? stupidly high damage and insanely fast. off-handed? stupidly high damage and insanely fast. just put on quickstep/bhs and enjoy your perfect win ratio.

Useless now that the poise damage was nerfed. I was fine with them nerfing the heavy thrusting swords but regular thrusting swords was fine idk why they needed to bother them.

insane tracking, insanely low recovery between attacks, ashable, gets access to counter attacks, and half the time will cancel an opponents attack because of how high the poise damage is now.

WHY THE HELL DID THEY BUFF THEM?! WHY?! There was no reason to do so. The balance teams at From makes any amateur balance teams at Blizzard Entertainment look experienced in comparison.

you basically can't win if you're using a colossal against these. the aimpunch makes you swing miss by a mile and you take way more damage because of counterhits

light roll thrusting sword might be the most cancer build i've ever had the displeasure of fighting against

Thrusting swords have always been part of the meta for a long time and that's because of their poise damage. Each R1 stops almost every other weapon no matter how much poise you have. For all the great things about these swords, having enough poise damage that makes most armors stagger should never have been a thing and combined with speed and a lot of damage buffs it makes all other weapons obsolete.

I have 85 poise and every r1 stuns me. Whoever decided to boost thrusting swords and thrusing greatswords poisw dmg is a total i d iot

Bruh there was a time people were nervous to use rapiers and spears.... Start keeping a backup Parry tool on yourselves...

Poise damage should be halved. They're trading weapons, and yet they can knock anybody whos not in full bullgoat out of a trade. WTF

Put on quickstep/bloodhound step and just mash your controller. You're bound to win at least 80% of your fights.

in 1.07 these became even more dominant in PvP than they were before, endure on a two-handed thrusting sword is nigh unbeatable. You can stagger pretty much anybody into submission while being almost completely untouchable.

No idea why the lock on aims so low with attacks, feels like I have to manually aim when using any kind of thrust attack, which is kind of when lock on should be the most reliable

ive always hated rapiers in fromsoft games but i came to love them in elden ring. they are incredibly fast, aggressive weapons. works so well with rotten wing sword insignia and the physick that boosts successive attacks. bonus points if you have poison/rot or bleed and the corresponding exultation talisman. dps can get kind of insane very fast

                                                • Anonymous

How come the estoc's hitbox has less range than the Cleanrot Sword despite the model being longer? What is this logic, Miyazaki?

                                                  • When Powerstancing two Rapiers, it seems that the L1 attack pattern is: L-R>R-R-R. I wonder if that means it will only apply the Passive Effects/Damage of the Right Weapon when doing the right attacks. This came up when I saw someone using Seppuku on their Left Rapier, but a different AOW on their Right Rapier. Will the Seppuku bleed apply to BOTH of the weapons when doing L1 attacks?

                                                    • Anonymous

Nobles estoc have been very generous when it comes to how well they scale and the reach on the nobles slender swords is amazing. Bleed or ice and 67 poise and Rivers/moonveil becomes obsolete.

                                                      • Anonymous

Damn these need a nerf and hitbox-fix, way to high damage and range, more range than the reach of the weapon model. Total bs for pvp, if you use this: i hope you get hurt.

                                                        • Anonymous

Man, the powerstance on those is so beautiful. Although maybe I am biased, after all I used to do fencing. Still, one of the drippiest weapon classes IMO

                                                          • Anonymous

For powerstancing these i always run Rogiers in the main hand. The R2 of Rogiers is two quick stabs that comes out faster than a regular R1, and can be used at the end of any attack. A good example is a rolling powerstance L1 usually has a half second delay before you can attack again, but Rogiers R2 will activate immediately.

                                                            • Dual wielding thrusting swords gives you an amazing moveset that can constantly put pressure on opponents if you have the stamina for it.

                                                              Its a never ending shredfest.

Throw in status effects and you can go deep into the cancerous end, I personally avoid doing it since I’m wrecking opponents already with dual physical estocs.

Bug while powerstancing two thrusting swords, if you do the rolling attack and don't move after the roll, you will be unable to attack for about a whole second, but simply moving a little after the roll avoids this. Been happening on and off for my playthrough and finally pinned down what it was.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

Roling L1 into L1 doesnt work at all for me. The character just doesnt respond until the animation has finished this slow floating back into default posture. 2 seconds lost.
I thought it was a feature, but with other weapon classes it works just fine, as does roling L1 into any other action.

                                                                              • Anonymous

Rogier's rapier has higher base damage, and similar scaling to Estoc. Somebody help me out? What makes Estoc #1 apart from nostalgia?
