Torches are a type of Weapon in Elden Ring. Torches deal little damage, but can be used to ward off unwanted beasts while dealing some Fire Damage on them.
Torches can't be modified by a number of Ashes of War to change their Skills or Damage Type, except to apply the "No Skill" skill.
Torches do not receive a unique moveset as a result of dual-wielding (AKA "power stancing").

Worth noting that the Torch, Beast-Repellent Torch, and Steel Wire Torch all have flat fire damage that doesn't scale with any stat, while the Sentry's Torch (Holy, Faith), Ghostflame Torch (Magic, Int), and St. Trina's Torch (Fire, Faith) all have elemental damage that actually scales with a stat (at "top end of C scaling" scaling.) Given that Trina's (with its Faith scaling fire damage) also puts targets to sleep, and Ghostflame (with its Int scaling magic damage) also inflicts Cold, they're probably actually good sidearms on a melee Int or Faith build.

I tried a torch only run as a challenge. Quickly realized torches are actually good and it was hardly a challenge.

Fromsoft: "People seem to really like having a light source in our games, let's make unique ones.
Fextra anons: "Cant believe fromsoft didn't strap a bazooka to a torch. Total missed opportunity."
- Anonymous
Someday... someday these will be classified as Catalysts instead shields so noone will do the torch attack instead of their actual weapons skill.
- Anonymous
missed opportunity to give these a straight AR buff for damage types, like the sentry's torch boosting holy damage by 10%, etc.

I don't understand people wanting from to make torches good weapons. It's just tool, I already appreciate and find surprising they made so many typse of theme in this game.

Imagine a bliodflame torch. Hopefully in a DLC cause I need such a thing. Or a blackflame torch could work too....
- Anonymous
I wish there was more than just wire torch that was viable for combat. Or at least something more to differentiate the torches. I'd love a lantern on the end of a spear that could illuminate farther, or other silly fun torches.
- Anonymous
I wish we had the lantern flame throwers, that the smithing stone miners used(pickaxe rock guys). It would be a great addition for strength builds as a utility weapon to finish ppl off.

From please don't leave Torches like this, please do something to make the weapon class viable! Even if you just buff the charge attack to match the time of the fist weapons, or give the roll dodge + r1 attack more range by making it similar to morning star hammer's rolling + r1...
Please just buff torches, I think I'm the only player who uses them in pvp/pve, they're very bad, but beautiful and have a lot of potential...

Would love to see Black flame torch with some unique skill and it would make everything darker rather than brighter

Does upgrading a torch with smithing stones make them brighter??

I think the torches cannot be parried, I killed people with and they tried to parry me but they didn't got a single one.

There are more torches than reapers…
On a different note, I would love to be able to apply ashes to torches, especially the Steel Wire. Would be awesome to infuse it with Flame Art and basically make a pure-fire weapon. Also, it be hilarious to put Lion’s Claw on a Torch.

Hoping for a lightning torch in DLC to complete the torch only run, hell even a bleed torch while they're at it.

being able to put affinities on torches would be nice for torch only runs, also having more torch ash of wars would be cool.

I want frenzy flame torch with cool wa. Just imagine how cool woud it be
- Anonymous
is there a list of what ashes of war actually work with torches, the only one I can seem to apply is "No Skill", it's a real shame not even "Parry" is an option considering these are technically in the shield category of weapons
- Anonymous
Does anyone know if the guys near the guardian garrison (that case briar sin)drop their weapon? It looks like a torch but can do an extendable whipping attack
Missed oppurtinty to have a Chad Powerstancing sleep and bleed torch build.
Give it Powerstancing and make a bleed torch
- Anonymous
there is a merchant note about "rosus's light" to defeat cemitry shades. but for now I have no clue weather if it's a torch or a special skill/ ash
- Anonymous
I need the torch to do the abandoned cave cuz i cannot see anything in there

missing the torchpole. It's a long torch that's dropped from the enemies that carry it

TORCH MASTER BUILD GUIDE
Step 1: Acquire Steel-Wire Torch from Castle Morne
Step 2: Kick Margit's ass with said torch.
Step 3: Farm Torchpole from enemies in Stormveil.
Step 4: Level up both strength and dex equally.
Step 5: Purchase the lantern, and always keep it on.
Step 6: Acquire more torches (the Beast-Repelling Torch or the St. Trina torch would be good to have for utility, or if you want different lighting)
Step 7: Unequip your pants, they will only slow you down.
Step 8: You are now grossly incandescent. Show your enemies your raw, brightly lit power, and grant upon them true fear.

Equip a torch left hand will allow you to hold down the attack button to raise the torch. Useful in dark areas

Archibald's torch hasn't been added yet but it looks like a small tesla ball and glows yellow. Very cool torch. Found it really late in my run through so that might be why its taking so long.

I cant wait for them to finally add the arcane scaling torch that does lighting damage. Its pretty rad, glows this super bright yellow

sentry's torch : 104 damage holy ???? sale in a store near [capital outskirts]

Missing Sentry’s torch! Can be found northern (SPOILER) Altus Plateau from merchant.

I SORRY
sentry's torch : 100 + 39 damage holy .It was saled in a store [Hermit Merchant's Shack] with 7000 (ruin)
- Anonymous
sentry's torch sold by hermit merchant for 7000 souls. interactive map coords roughly -88.75:107 (hard north of reyndell royal capital and west of that minor erdtree, up on the westernmost side of that cliff area west of said tree).
torch itself presumably reveals invisible entities if its flavortext is anything to go by. weighs 5, base dmg phys 56? holy 100?, req(scaling) of 15(d) str, 8(e) dex, 15 (d) faith. block stats are unsurprisingly trash, cannot be infused with ashes of war, and is upgraded with somber smithing stones. if the first upgrade is anything to go by, only str and faith scaling increase with upgrades.

Ghostflame Torch, you can get it at the Lost City of Nokron, off to the side of the entrance on a tower. It scales with INT
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
There is also the ghostflame torch which is found pretty shortly after you enter nokron
- Anonymous
there is a “Ghostflame Torch” as well that burns white and “causes frost buildup (65)” scales with strength (E) dex (E) and int (D)

There's also the Torchpole. It's a torch, on a pole. It's like the Washing Pole of Torches.
- Anonymous
Is this the first Fromsoft game with several types of Torches?
I think it would be cool to see a torch that's based off the flame of the fell god, considering how it turns the whole damn Erdtree into a fireworks festival. I mean I know it's they're not supposed to be used as weapons but it would be fun to see an outlier.
