Torchpole is a Spear in Elden Ring. The Torchpole scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity, and is a decent Weapon for inflicting fire-based attacks from far away.
Torch fastened to a long pole. Lights up dark areas, but cannot be
raised overhead.
Used by soldiers on watch, its attacks set foes aflame.
Where to Find Torchpole in Elden Ring
The Torchpole weapon can be found at the following location:
- Players can obtain the Torchpole by killing the Stormveil Castle courtyard guards. [Elden Ring Map here]
- One enemy dropping this weapon can be found close to Stormveil Cliffside Site of Grace, just up the wooden stairs along the wall. Although tempting, it is not recommended that you use projectile weapons/ranged attacks from the Site of Grace to kill this enemy from afar, as upon death the soldier may fall off the edge.
- There are three torchpole carriers in the courtyard near the Liftside Chamber site of grace. Head east from the grace and there will be one almost due south as you head down the first stairway, and another southeast; both standing on ramparts. The third is up the wooden stairway to the east.

Elden Ring Torchpole Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill: Charge Forth
- This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War nor buffed with Magic or Consumables.
- Torchpole can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
- Sell Value:
100
- Base drop rate is 2% (at 100 Discovery).
- Pros: really long range among its class. The third longest spear (not including great spears) behind the pike. The range is definitely noticeable, and helps keep you out of attack range much easier than other spears, though obviously not as well as the pike. That range also compliments Charge Forth very well, making it much easier to land (and avoid attacks during) than with shorter weapons. Gives off light, making it great for caves. The fire damage is very low, but proves super useful for any enemy that gets put into a special on-fire stun animation, like dogs and (especially) finger creepers.
- Cons: No infusing, no buffing. Locked scaling at the lower end of C (both Str and Dex are equal within C), and only scaling on the physical attacks. Paired with unimpressive base damage, and this thing's damage will be far outpaced by other spears that can utilize ashes and buffs. 2nd worst stamina damage in class, for seemingly no reason; most normal-sized spears max at 80, but this only gets up to 72, even though it weighs more than many of the others... quite counter-intuitive. No changing the skill off of Charge Forth. Charge Forth is a good skill, and definitely something people sleep on, but it adds very little to this weapons kit.
- Note: As of Patch 1.08, poise damage of all Spears has been reduced for PVP.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

This thing absolutely slaps the elden beast about big time.
Only joking, the only thing it slaps about is the dark because it's a torch on a stick.
- Anonymous
Can't get this to drop but I can get a full exile set + smithing stones 1 and 2 bro I don't understand
- Anonymous
Frankly, l'm surprised this thing deals pierce damage at all; all the more of a shame then that it doesn't have access to the bevvy of aow skills most spears have.
- Anonymous
Wish you could put ashes of war in it. Then I could do a Jax cosplay
- Anonymous
i’ve been playing since the game came out and have hundreds of hours and just learned that this weapon existed

There’s definitely a better spot to farm this, the courtyard outside of Liftside Chamber site of grace has two torchpole guys. Takes about as long to get to them as it does from the guy on the stairs mentioned in the article, but since there are two of them you’re doubling your drop chance per run. Just don’t get owned by the Omen and his dog lol

Pls devs let us infuse cool weapons like this, you could infuse with bleed to make bloodflame spears, frost to make the ghostflame spears like in blackknife catacombs, so many options please just let us do cool infusion stuff with the funny fire spear.
- Anonymous
I don't know if they were serious when they designed this weapon as it is kind of a joke but I really wish the joke could be infused. Not only would this make the joke funnier with spinny fire poles or whatever you wanted but would make it that little bit more usable without turning it into a meta weapon. Which is a fate worse than death. Nobody wants the boys to catch you playing around with meta weapons.
- Anonymous
What u need to do is painfully farm 2 of these bad boys. Then grab claw talisman and raptor cloak armor, then golden vow. Then poise-damage physick tear. And u have the perfect fk-around build.
- Anonymous
Kinda wish this could be infused. Like it would be annoying af dual wielded but that's a problem with dual wield spears not spears themselves. This could be like the Clayman Harpoon for Faith builds.
- Anonymous
Anyone know if this is a blue drop so I can shot the exile following the knight at the rampart Grace?
- Anonymous
Why the hell is this item so rare? I've seen it drop probably 2 or 3 times in over 1000 hours of playing this game.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Does anything else have that walking in r2?. It could explain why they left this weaker... Atleast from a PvE perspective you can walk around and safely no hit everything with heavies pretty much.. noticed it when I quickly put on one that dropped in stormveil it's nutty. No other spear I've tested has it

This desceiption is really in depth. I wish other wepons were so analized

Rise up Torchpole lovers!
We must make our voices heard!
FromSoft let us put ashes on it so we can giants hunt people with on a stick.
- Anonymous
When you use this in the rain, you're actively nerfing yourself

I want the ghost flame torch pole badly by ut alas it's unavailable.... FROM... Could ya not be like this? Just gimme a cool smores on fire stick!
- Anonymous
I would like From to add the other version of this. The one used by the commoners who revive the skeletons in the catacombs of the Black Knife. In addition to having the great white flame it also generates freezing.
- Anonymous
Finally. Farmed for 32 minutes with 250 discovery near the stormveil cliffside site of grace. Bro kept falling off with the loot

The only possible use I could see for this weapon is powerstancing it with a cold spear to proc and reset frostbite.
This is the third longest, according to the spears page. I haven't checked myself how it looks visually, but apparently the Bolt of Gransax is longer. I'm going to change it to say that in a bit.

Despite the fact that some radahn foot soldiers carry a weapon resembeling (but not identical to) the torchpole, they do NOT drop it. I spent almost an entire in-game day farming one of them just north of Fort Gael, and in that time I amassed 50,000+ runes, 4 foot soldier helms, 9 Scarlet Tabards, an absurd amount (100+) of Smoldering Butterflies, and zero torchpoles.
- Anonymous
i love impaling my enemies with a flame on a long stick (critical hits)
The entire advantage of normal smithing stone weapons and sinking a ridiculous 97 stones into maxing them is being able to buff and infuse them. I think some goon figured that having a torch and weapon in one made up for this thing sucking but the lantern exists so this literally has no reason to be this bad.
- Anonymous
I find it very funny that they felt the need to remove the slight faith scaling for fire damage on a weapon that was still worthless with it while leaving many fundamentally broken weapons unchanged
- Anonymous
I wish this wasnt utter garbage so I could make a Maiden in Black cosplay. At the very least we should be able to change its ash of war and infusion
- Anonymous
The wasted potential on this hurts me to say the least, it deserves to get ashes of war and elemental scaling, imagine something like blood tax and bloodflame blade on this or black flame tornado, it's so sad how they did this weapon so dirty with the potential it had.

This thing would be pretty powerful if you could change the ash of war and it kept the fire damage.
- Anonymous
This thing deserves more thought put into it. If it's just a flaming stick, you should be able to swing it wide like the partizan, and do strike damage. At least then it'll be a more versatile exploring tool, and make up for not being very impressive as a weapon
- Anonymous
From the Liftside Chamber grace door you can see a guard in watchtower. You can farm this one without aggroing anything.

A very fun-looking weapon that unfortunately seems neglected by the devs.
Pros: really long range among its class. I think it might be the second longest spear (not including great spears) behind the pike. The range is definitely noticeable, and helps keep you out of attack range much easier than other spears, though obviously not as well as the pike. Its longer range would make a lot of the sweeping polearm skills very fun, but we can only dream.
All in all, I really want to like it... but it's as though From doesn't want me too lol. What's most baffling is that the Torchpole has been lackluster since release but for some reason got nerfed in the first major patch; it used to have faith scaling for its fire damage. Still have no idea why that was removed.
I doubt that it will ever get the love it deserves, but I really hope so. They've surprised me before with their patches

Is there an alternate version? In one of the dungeons I found some enemies that re-summon skeletons, and they have a torchpole with blue fire

Some Highlights i've had with this weapon as i've used it purely all the way to the capital so far.
It's a light source, has long reach and uses the spear moveset which most npc enemies struggle to avoid and space.
It's a fire weapon which seems to be strong verse beasts and causes unique burn animations on Giant hands and plants that disable them and give them a DoT
The fire animation is effective at tracking invisible enemies
The light attack sometimes hits through walls ,especially when jumping
Charged strong attacks cause you to run forth and lunge, great for hit and run as you prepare someone for a stagger.
Charged strong attacksalmost always instantly stun bats.
Charge Forth will knock over almost all humanoids(Didn't work on a misbegotten beast though).
I've never seen anyone else use this weapon, you feel pretty unique in coop running around with it.
Spears in general are painful for invaders to deal with.
Despite the perks, you do have to put a lot more effort into it to fight enemies and the dps in general is a lot lower than most weapons that would have status effects on them and just scale better. jump attacks on this aren't the best and you'll have to use careful strong attacks and charge forths to make this shine.

Damn, just farmed this for a pyromancy build to find out it has no faith scaling. It's a fire weapon with no faith scaling and can't put a fire ash of war on it... Bruh.

Can you get it from other enemy wielding it ? For example in altus plato
As someone who likes to keep a torch for dark caves and night-time interiors, the torchpole is very handy to have. After all, it is basically a long spear with a flaming tip. You can have fun literally backstabbing enemies with a large wooden pole that sets them on fire in the process.
Sadly, it cannot use other Ashes of War and apparently had the faith-scaling removed, so you're basically stuck with "Charge Forth" and regular damage with a bit of fire tacked on, but there are definitely worse weapons out there.
Still, there are far worse weapons out there, and it's nice being able to poke

You can farm it from heavy gaurded courtyard near liftside chamber's site of grace. I got it for first try 250+ discovery.

I got this first week of playing from killing the enemies right after beating Morgit, on the stairs that lead into the castle. It’s a good weapon to start but goddamn the weapon scaling is cheeks. It works for illuminating caves which is awesome though especially early game against the beast people and wolves. Switched to tree spear

Does anyone know if the enemies at the top of the Rampart Towe drop this? I've been farming them but no luck so far
- Anonymous
I found one right before the grafted boss where all the birds with knives for feet are.
It's cool, I hope the faith scaling gets better later
- Anonymous
There are dudes in Black Knife Catacombs in Liurna that have a ghostflame version of this. I wonder if they drop that version.
- Anonymous
It does act as a touch also.
So you get a spear, and a torch.
Has very long reach.
I got the drop from the guards in the castle.
- Anonymous
Has anyone actually picked one up? I can't find a single post or YT video with the moveset.
Used a silver foul foot and killed all the torch wielding guards in the courtyard, farmed the guard on the side entrance for a while and nothing.
- Anonymous
Can't wait to farm this. The fact that you can't put an ash of war on this weapon kind of ruins it, but it looks cool regardless. I wonder whether it also acts like a torch (illuminating).
- Anonymous
Take it from someone who killed scores of Torchpole wielding Radahn foot soldiers in Caelid... they don't drop this.

Would be great if the default weapon art did what the minion soldiers do when you are mounted: they hold their torch up and hit you rapidly until you fall off.
