Treespear is a Great Spear in Elden Ring. The Treespear scales primarily with Strength, Faith and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for dealing Holy Damage, but requires a certain level of Dexterity in order to wield it. Its accompanying skill makes it most effective against Those Who Live With Death.
Golden spear with tree-like design. Wielded by knights employed as palace guards in the Royal Capital of Leyndell. Deals holy damage.
Requiring superior dexterity to wield, this greatspear can perform consecutive thrust attacks despite its larger size.
Where to Find Treespear in Elden Ring
The Treespear weapon can be found at the following location:
- Found on a Carriage at the edge of the collapsed bridge. From Liurnia Highway South Site of Grace, follow the road southeast. [Elden Ring Map here]
Elden Ring Treespear Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill: Sacred Order
- This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War but can be buffed with Magic and Consumables
- Treespear can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones
- This weapon has a unique R2 chain. The first R2 is a heavy forward thrust (similar to the Lance R2), and the second is a downward diagonal slash starting from your left side. Charging these attacks will cause them to change into a two hit combo with the same basic pattern, this double tap feature excels at breaking enemy posture
- Good for Dex/Faith Builds and easy to get early. It plays like a Str/Faith weapon, except you get to focus dex for quicker cast times. Deals a ton of posture damage.
- Can be enchanted with weapon buffs, which makes it interesting for specific builds.
- On Faith builds, one can double up on the Faith Scaling with Bloodflame Blade, Electrify Armament or Order's Blade. If cast using a high scaling seal, such as the Erdtree Seal at 80+ Faith, these will outperform this weapons Ash of War.
- On an Int/Faith hybrid build it can be enchanted with Scholar's Armament to recieve the Int scaling of the staff it was enchanted with.
- Keep in mind when buffing this weapon that only the Faith or Int portion of a catalyst's scaling will be considered when applying the buff.
- Using this weapons Ash of War will remove any weapon buffs active.
- Sell Value:
100 Runes
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

make the ash of war changable, it's a cool looking weapon, if i could have saw storm assault i would
- Anonymous
this is bullshit bruh why does it scale with dex but its like 20kg
- Anonymous
Every time Elden Ring gets a really cool bug, people are complaining nonstop to take it out. It happened with crouch poke flails and it'll end up being this.
Enjoy it while you can, I guess.
- Anonymous
Good to pair with Jellyfish shield since this AoW is not great anyway. Use greases to buff.
- Anonymous
Isn't it bugged now? Buff from WA stays when you switch your weapon. It is working even with 'unbuffable' stuff, adding some DMG. It also give some weapons golden aura, which is longer than weapons itself, try it on flails and ss.
- Anonymous
The main thing this weapon has going for itself (beyond being a greatspear of course) is that it scales with Faith, but can still be buffed. Since it deals innate Holy damage, you can infuse it with Order's Blade to double dip in Faith scaling without splitting your damage more than it already is. It's great.
Unfortunately, the Ash on this weapon CANNOT be changed and the Ash also applies an inferior weapon buff that overwrites Order's Blade. I would have preffered a Holy Spectral Lance like Morgott uses (He summons a glowing Treespear to throw) instead of a generic Ash of War that can't be changed. Sad.

- Anonymous
I wish the Ash of War was Sacred Phalanx or a Holy Version of that Occult Spear throw that Morgott uses.
It's lame when Somber weapons have generic Ashes of War that can't be changed.

Love the moveset of this weapon in PvE
Only drawback is the requirements which makes it a bit awkward to use in very early game, unless you're fine with playing low vigor for a bit
- Anonymous
Stay with me here -- this is some strange combination of the Serpent-Hunter and the Erdsteel Dagger. Like the Serpent-Hunter, the Treespear is an uninfusable great spear with a poor ash of war, and like the Erdsteel Dagger it comes with innate scaling in Faith and the ability to be buffed, something it shares with the Clayman's Harpoon (but scaling with Intelligence) and new to patch 1.09 the Great Club. This makes the Treespear an extremely unusual weapon. Despite having mediocre scaling in Faith, the ability to be buffed means you can both get decent damage from pumping 80 Faith just on its own and also add ~250 holy or lightning damage using weapon buff spells. A Treespear build is probably the best weapon buffs have felt to me since DS2 -- maybe even DS1 with Crystal Magic Weapon.
- Anonymous
The charged R2 on this is horrifying in PvP. I'm pretty sure this is the only greatspear that has it and it's not a super popular weapon regardless, so people will often getup roll with the wrong timing. At worst, you'll probably just hit them with the second part of the attack; at best, you time it right and they roll right into both attacks of a charged R2, which is tons of damage.
- Anonymous
Tree spear should’ve had shared order. Sacred order buffs spell damage 10% for sacred builds, which is its niche use. Tree spear is a dex weapon with requirements too high for most casters. And a caster would be using orders blade. Shared Order is better than sacred order, doing more damage to undead, buffing spell damage the same, buffing allies dmg against undead and is compatible with Orders blade. Even golden vow ash would’ve been better than sacred order, just like golden halberd.

I know this weapon scales best with Dexterity, but resist the temptation to make a hybrid Dex/Faith build, and instead just go min stats in Str and Dex to weild it, and put 80 points into Faith. Why? Because buffing this with Order's Blade at 80 Faith and using the Erdtree Seal gives you a much higher AR than any combination of Dex or Faith you can come up with if you are using the same stat pool for your character.
The Ash of War on this sucks compared to Order's Blade, I fully agree here. It is nowhere as good. How do you get past that? Easy - Don't use it. Put your Erdtree Seal in your left hand to buff the Treespear in your right. Then put a shield in the second left slot. Now you can use a good shield Ash of War like Holy Ground, Barricade Shield or Golden Parry instead, and not have to worry about trying to use your main hand ash by holding it in both hands to get it to go off, then switching back so you can use your shield ash again.
Enemy is resistant to Holy, and it is causing your damage to fall off a cliff? Just use the entire bank of spells you have available to you to burn/lightning/black flame/poison/rot them down. Put a related seal in your offhand to your Erdtree Seal, and get max damage benefit.
At 15 Str, 22 Dex and 80 Faith, your AR at +25 for this weapon will be 674. A +10 Erdtree Seal has an incantation scaling of 353.7 at 80 faith. Multiplied by 0.75 for the Order's Blade buff gives an AR boost of 265.275. Add this to your base AR and by buffing with Order's Blade alone you get a total AR of 939.275. And that's before Golden Vow and Flame Grant Me Strength. That is monstrous for a melee build by itself, but combine that with the fact that this spear does great poise damage, has great double-hit combo's on the charged heavy, a great reach and can be used to do shield pokes, and then all the benefits from having 80 faith to cast incantations with, and there should be no reason why you can't completely dominate the game from very early on.
The only drawback to this build is that an infuseable shield, treespear and seal (use Godslayer, it's better than Finger before 69 faith) all draw on regular smithing stones to level up, which can lead to a bit of a pinch, especially when you hit the need for smithing stone 6's. I'd upgrade Godslayer Seal highest as it gives more back via Incantation Scaling for both buffs and direct attacks, then Treespear and finally your shield. Once you hit 69 Faith you should have all 9 if not 10 Somber Smithing Stones ready to go and can get your Erdtree Seal up to max pretty much immediately.
This weapon is slept on because its Ash of War kind of sucks (it will boost your incantations though, which is great if you want to use 2 seals at once) compared to Order's Blade. But with all the bonuses it gives, who cares? Shield ashes when you need it, incantations otherwise, all while keeping your main hand weapon out if you aren't dual running seals. A brilliant weapon, so easy to get, and the stat requirements aren't too harsh. All-round excellent.

This is always going to be my favorite weapon in the game. I love the moveset, reach, poise damage; how it looks; the fact that it was in the reveal trailer and that Morgott throws spectral versions of it at you; God its been fun using this thing
- Anonymous
It feels good hunting Deathbirds with this... feels appropriate almost.
- Anonymous
I’ve paired this with Vyke’s War Spear. Dex+Fth knot physick, Electrify armament+Flame Grant Me Strength; everything has been turning to dust. Undead evaporate just by looking at them. It’s great.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you combo r2 two times you can stun just about anyone with a full charge attack then a quick r2 and finish with a r1 critical hit
- Anonymous
Assuming I was using orders blade with pure fth and minimum stats for tree spear... what are some keen weapons also good with Orders blade that aren’t out performed by sacred affinity?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Ok so i can buff myself with the ash of war, and buff this weapon to make 3 kinds of damage? Cool
I wonder, are there any equivalents for the other elemental damage types? E.g. a weapon with inate fire damage that can be buffed with bloodflame blade, or magic with magic sword or lightning with electric armament?
- Anonymous
This weapons Ash really needs a buff as in it's current form its completely outperformed by buffs like Order's blade, perhaps something like braggarts roar where a body buff and a weapon buff come from the AoW. Like if this gave 15 flat or a 25% poise buff as well as its weapon buff it could be viable and due to it having split damage that focuses on the holy side it doesn't synergize too heavily with counter attacks for the poise to be overpowered.
- Anonymous
i WISH this thing could have its ash changed, i love the move set, but since the weapon skill is a simple buff, the move set becomes limited, unless you dont care much for versatility like i do, then its fine, plus the heavy attacks are super duper fun anyway.
- Anonymous
Does anyone know why this spear is upgraded using smithing stones NOT somber, can be buffed by poison / electrify armament or blood / black flame blade AND buffed with grease but has a skill locked onto it ? Which also happens to be a skill no f**ker would ever choose for this spear outside of players that might want to RP as a golden order zealot / hunter.
But it's highly effective against "those who live in death" you say ? So what ? numerically undead are a very small enemy type compared to guards, foot soldiers there are even more wandering idiots and marionettes than skeletons and deathbirds. If you take the fanboy hat off and think about it objectively this spear is just one in a pretty long list of bad / really bad design decisions and f**k ups that Elden ring is riddled with. It highlights From Software was in over its head on an open world game of this complexity.
- Anonymous
My favorite weapon in the game used it on my first playthrough and I still use it today. Favorite weapon in these games are spears and favorite build is dex/faith, and this is absolutely perfect.
And for those who are not big fans of the ash of war, just remember it's a flat 10% boost to ALL your damage not just the Treespear itself. Plus it stacks with most buffs besides weapons buffs (obviously lmao) and lasts a minute now. Pretty insane weapon tbh
- Anonymous
I love this thing, used it on my first playthrough, using it as my regular weapon even now. Would be nice if it's AOW could be changed but honestly the moveset is so much fun even without that. Easily the coolest great spear and my favorite weapon of the game fr
- Anonymous
This just might be my new favorite weapon.
1,520 AR at RL125.
Doing 4k damaged with a single charged attack.
- Anonymous
it really sucks that you can't change the ash of war on this. if you could slap on a lightning ash, it'd be a perfect Great Value Ornsteins Spear
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you have two of these using the weapon art on one applies an equal damage buff to the other so Take Two of these cast golden vow two hand the left one use the ash of war one hand use main hand ash of war and with 60 dex sacred scorpion charm and base faith gets a little over 1000 ar on each it's still split damage so take the number with a grain of salt but it is still so good.
- Anonymous
With the right investment, Order Blade + Holy Scorpion Charm + Holy Crystal Tear will give this so much holy damage that it reaches the breakpoint where instead of split damage being a detriment, it is a linear upgrade in damage. That makes this weapon perform way better than other split damage weapons. Also with order blade on you should smack a skeleton just to see how insane the damage gets.
- Anonymous
The fact that you cant infuse this but can infuse the claymans harpoon, which is another split damage weapon with a generic ash of war upgraded with normal smithing stones is a travesty.
- Anonymous
honestly so mad you can't use this together with the Erdtree Greatshield without sacrificing a lot of damage or being way too high level.
- Anonymous
Lore-wise, would this be considered an Erdtree Worship (Pure Faith) weapon or a Fundamentalist (supposed to be Int/Faith) weapon?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This weapon could really use a scaling buff or being changed into infusable.
It's scaling at max is comparable to standard weapons at +25
This seems to be the perfect pairing for Vyke's spear? Strongish dexterity scaling (looks like a high C at max level), along with a little faith scaling. The faith scaling must be really low, though, to never reach even lower C level scaling.
I think choosing between this and Lance for a Vyke's combo, I would go with Lance. I could put the Lance as a dexterity scaling weapon with the item in Stormveil early. You would get no faith scaling, until you get that whetblade later.
- Anonymous
How Maureen manages to use Charge Forth on this spear and constantly stunlock Millicent is beyond me.

this weapon actually facilitates like 700 damage per swing if you infuse it with ash of war + keen damage. it makes it much more tolerable in pvp and allows it to backstab combo. no matter how you use the weapon, orders blade is a absolute win since it increases the elemental damage ever further and gets the AR above 800.
Also, if you dual wield two of these (in ng+) you could use powerstance and make even more runes that way. But you have to be careful when the buff runs out to replenish it or else your a sitting duck. overall i've relied on this weapon countless times in boss fights and especially against the grafted scion its good because its weak against fire and you can combo with catch flame.
The moveset is unique as well and reminds me a lot of the guardian swordspear moveset with sweeping swings and nosedives. easy to rollcatch in pvp or to give piercing damage +bleeding which can counter rivers of blood if you time it right.
scholars armanent is compatible and buffs it even more depending on you intelligence level and if you have a sacred seal. my only gripe with the weapon is the fact that it scales best with dexterity, but i think most people who want to use this are primary faith builds

Isnt this the weapon the cleanrot knight in the very first announcement trailer uses?
- Anonymous
Would be nice if you could change the Ash like clayman harpoon
- Anonymous
Perfectly fills a useful niche as an anti-undead backup weapon on my spear and shield build. Not having to double-tap zombies is awesome.
- Anonymous
Orders blade, even with low fth is superior to to running dex for damage on this. I coinvaded with someone using exact same tree sentinel armor/shield set up as me. But they were doing 300 dmg to our opponents while I was scoring 650 dmg with my 40 fth, 13 int, 30 str and 22 dex. And I get barrier of gold/regen. My co invader was prolly 30 str 50 dex and wasted his fth points to use the weapon. His weapon buff kept expiring fast too, rendering it a liability to rebuff for such a small dmg bonus. Orders blade takes the same cast time but is actually worth it on Treespear and lasts way longer.
- Anonymous
Interestingly, there's actually data in the game for this weapon to be infusable.
There are entries for all the different infusion types for this weapon. The only thing missing, is a change of the "Ash of War type" from "Prevent Change" to "Allow Change"
It's quite possible that this weapon was intended to be infusable, much like the Clayman's Harpoon which has an exotic damage type but can still be infused. I wonder if they changed their mind last minute or if this was simply an oversight and they forgot to set it to be changable.
- Anonymous
I still don't understand what consumables are meant when it says a weapon can or can't be boosted by consumables. Is it only the grease that is applied directly onto the weapon or does it mean this weapon will or wont benefit from exalted flesh? I would have thought exalted flesh buffs the player attack and damage output for a short while not the individual weapon, but like someone else already said the rules of what can or can't be buffed seems pretty arbitrary.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Whether any given split damage weapon can or can’t be buffed seems so arbitrary and inconsistent. I really would like to know the logic that made FromSoft say “no buffing allowed on faith scaling melee weapons… except you Treespear. You’re cool.”
- Anonymous
Yeah the weapon art is bad but the stagger potential makes up for it, one of the best choices for a Faith/Dex build
- Anonymous
I see a lot of messages about something being hidden around the broken bridge where you find this weapon, any truth to the messages?
- Anonymous
Quite possibly the easiest heavy attack to parry in the entire game.
- Anonymous
Good for Dex/faith builds and easy to get early. It plays like a Str/faith weapon, except you get to focus dex for quicker cast times. Deals a ton of posture damage. Charged R2 does a weak hit followed by a strong hit for big damage. Good weapon, just wish I could change the Art of War

Why does this use regular smithing stones if you can change the ash of war? What does using regular smithing stones have to do with it being buffable but not being able to change ash of war. I thought the reason why we need a lot of regular smithing stones to upgrade stuff is to balance the fact that you can change the AoW. Don't get me wrong, I love the moveset but the AoW and the ability to buff it is useless to me since I never buff and imo is not worth it at all.
- Anonymous
I treat this like golden halberd. Use it raw with base stats and focus on faith/vigor. Also, it’s worth investing in the 13 int even if that means lower faith. Orders blade is disgustingly powerful on this.
- Anonymous
Using Sacred Order seems to boost my incantation attack by 10% as well. Fantastic overall weapon.
- Anonymous
So Milicent's sister can swap out it's ash of war for charge forth. But we cant. Why?
There should be a notice or a section on this page that says this is one of a handful of weapons that can have an Ash of War but still be greased up.
- Anonymous
Imagine if the saint bident of ds3 had innate lightning damage and could still be buffed. Yes, this is the spiritual successor to the st Bident, 13 int required to holy buff however this is fine. You have to be very intelligent to use this anyways amirite? OH one more thing. Order blade spell scales with only fth no matter what seal you use... so 13 int 50 fth and Edtree seal is the way to go. Don’t worry about dex/str if you plan on buffing with spells.

Treespear is the Lothric Knight Greatsword of Elden Ring.
With 99/99/99 in strength/dex/faith, Treespear +25 has the following Attack Rating values:
One handed:
298 + 295 physical damage
193 + 104 holy damage
(892 AR combined)
Two handed:
298 + 310 physical damage
193 + 104 holy damage
(907 AR combined)
However, I also have 16 intelligence, which allows me to use Order's Blade incantation. I have the Erdtree Seal +10, which has 367 incant scaling at 99 faith. So, when I buff the weapon, I get:
Two handed:
298 + 310 physical damage
193 + 379 holy damage
(1183 AR combined)
This means Order's Blade gave an additional 275 holy damage. Now, I know there are other seals which scale with more stats, thus leading to a higher incant scaling number. However, based on what I've read online, Order's Blade incantation only cares about the Faith portion of your incant scaling. So I believe this is the best damage you can get out of the buff. Still, I would have liked to test it, I don't have a character who is high level enough for it.
Bear in mind that a lot of the endgame bosses are resistant to holy damage, so this spear is probably better suited in PvP against other players.
Now, let's compare this to Dark Souls 3's Lothric Knight Greatsword.
According to soulsplanner.com's DS3 planner, with 99/99/99/99 in strength/dex/faith/hollow, a Hollow infused LKGS +10 gets the following AR:
599 physical damage
165 lightning damage
(764 AR combined)
Also, Yorshka's Chime +10 is the catalyst with the highest Spell Buff at 263. With the Lightning Blade miracle, the damage numbers become:
599 physical damage
415 lightning damage
(1014 AR combined)
In conclusion, even though LKGS has a lower AR value compared to Treespear, I would say LKGS is a stronger weapon. Because it's harder to get insane damage numbers in DS3 as opposed to Elden Ring.

This, sword of night and flame and clayman harpoon are only viable options for faith int players. Sad

If you only use this for style or the unique charge attack, feel free to ignore me.
TLDR Order's blade is treespear's best buff and never use the innate ash of war if you like big damage
If you care about damage even a little bit DO NOT USE lightning armament. Those suggesting it don't undertand how defense works in elden ring. Lightning armament is almost always worse than order's blade for treespear.
It already has holy damage, so you're better off adding more instead of an additional element.
Defense reduces damage once for every element on the weapon. This is the reason why higher AR elemental weapons sometimes deal less damage than lower AR pure physical weapons.
If you add lightning instead of holy, your damage is reduced 3 times insead of only 2.
Unless you fight something extremely resistant against holy, but weak against lightning, order's blade is the better buff.
Sacred oath overwrites weapon buffs, so ignore the innate ash of war unless you really want the 10% holy damage for your offhand or consumables. If you only need to buff treespear, order's blade or even holy grease are better.

I love this weapon, first one to upgrade to +25. Recently I've done some testing and I will share it here:
type --- dmg --- time
____________________
light --- 729 --- 1s
3x light --- 2272 --- 3.5 s
heavy --- 961 --- 1.2s
2x heavy --- 1922 --- 2.88 s
charge h --- 1662 --- 2 s
2 chrge h --- 3324 --- 4s
When buffed with its Ash of War, gives constant 10% dmg increase.
For best results, you can use electrify weapon incantation, which at this time was giving me 18% dmg increase
However, I have noticed that heavy attacks get buffed slightly less, at 14% than light attacks.. Not the best
From the data, you can see that charged heavy attacks are basically the most efficient per time it takes to execute.

This weapon is slept on imo, the charged heavies have this nice two-hit that gets things staggered nice and quick.
Beware using it in PvE; it'll get the job done, but a lot of the late game bosses have very high holy resistance. Invest in a side-arm; you can either use a jack-of-all stat distribution and use a standard infusion, but personally I like using a flame art weapon.

Super cool looking, specially for a Holy Order themed build

The tip of the spear does NOT hit enemies. Seems bugged. Hopefully they fix.

And it comes with a free gesture? Sick!!
(Man, that ash of war is bad. I'd say this is best paired with a lefthanded tool that can compensate. I've personally been using the grafted dragon!)

Good weapon for dex/faith build that uses shield arts barricade/parry or unique shield arts. Wa is kinda usefull early game before you have decent incs but it's very stat hungry and you usually equip it later as you need vigor first. Can be buffed with additional element or strenghten holy.
I personally prefer Siluria's moveset and wa. With 32 or 36 str for greatshields, there is not much difference in dmg until 150+ when I start focusing more heavily on dex

I really like this weapon. But dude, it is stat hungry. If you want to cast incantations as your Main source of damage, this is probably not your weapon. It's so damn cool tho.. I can't come up with a 150 build that has enough dex to really utilize this weapon and enough faith to do big burst damage with incants when there's the opportunity to do so. Or does anyone know if it's still viable when pumping faith to 70? I mean... D scaling is not really what I hoped to see on this thing.

The Chad Dex/Fth build's alternative to Vyke's War spear, it has the same moveset with a better heavy attack, better raw damage, and better range. The only thing you're really missing out on is a decent weapon art (pls Fromsoft let us infuse this thing). I always felt cheesy using the madness debuff to win, and this weapon cured me of my addiction.

I am really struggling with this beautiful Spear and the Siluria Spear. I know this is dex and the other is Str but they almost feel the same but this beauty here can be buffed i am realllllly struggling guys.

This weapon is my favorite. Yeah the ash of war is lame, but i try to look it in a good way like at least now i dont have to use carian filigreed crest + shard of alexander and a shield with no skill, so that frees up some nice slots. Other than that, my only downside with this weapon is no croutch poke. Even then, the croutch slash is really good for non single target damage. 10/10 weapon for me imo

I really wanted to use Thunderbolt on this weapon! They need to do away with locking normal weapons with terrible ashes of war and allow us to pick our own. The restriction feels awful and arbitrary. Only remembrance and weapons with unique ashes of war should be locked.

Faced this weapon for the First time in PvP today, and a couple of times at that. So far im not big Fan of it. Its already a ****ing long Spear, and the Phantom Range is even bigger. I was killed quite a few times while being like Half the Spear in length Away from the Spearhead. At first i thought it was just an Issue between me and the Opponent, but a few Invasions later and the Same **** happens again. And then 2 more times. Doesnt seem OP but since Spears are kinda Meta rn anyway i really dont want to deal with This Absurd Range

Such a pity that it is bind with one of the worst ash of war in the game...The weapon has nice range and very sick charged R2s. It also looks pretty fashionable.

Heavy attacks on this baby are super fun to use. Second hit catches invaders off most of the time.

Nice weapon, but I really miss some sweeping attacks for versatility. Crouch R1 isn't too bad, but not alwas practical to get off in time

while you are allowed to grease and buff this weapon it would seem that also overwrites its ash buff and damage type so you cannot have holy+enchant

I think one of Millicent's sister is using this weapon with different weapon art.

This at +24 + golden vow and a buff inc. at 60 str/dex/fth/ar with the dragon seal = total damage is a satisfyingly common number, 1080

From the moment I could equip it, this weapon was my go to for basically the rest of the game (minus a few bosses that really need to be hit with strike). It may not be the flashiest weapon out there, but it is incredibly versatile. You can buff it with spells and/or grease, its guard counter comes out decently quick and has good range, it's a spear so you can poke from behind a shield if you need to turtle up, and it has a super potent heavy moveset, especially when charged. I tried lots of other weapons in an attempt to find something better, but I always came back to this.

The double hits on charged r2s really mess people up in duels. I find uncharged r2 followed by charged r2 a mean way to punish aggressive players or dish out dmg across a gank. The joust attack is brutal for roll catching too. Ive noticed better players who should know better, they will trade and impale themselves on your spear. In this game you’ll win those trades every time since there’s no combos. People will also try to reaction parry you and fail epically since instant hand parries no longer exist. This is the new Saint Bident.

This weapon carried me through Malenia's boss fight. It gives you good damage and stagger potential. Combine with fingertip greatshield and Redmane Knight Oghma and after a few minutes you can kill the boss.

Badass paladin build with this, golden greatshield, tree sentinel set and healing/buff incantations.

Weapon only works when buffed. Waste of fp. Slow, mediocre animations. Good for a spear, terrible allround. The only people who love this thing are one who haven't tried anything else.

So this weapon is incredibly strong in a non-flashy way for PvE. The main reason is because this and Troll Hammer are the only non-somber split damage weapons in the game making them buffable by magic and grease. Split damage is very effective in PvE as they don't have the base defense modifiers that exist in PvP and only use % based modifiers. Being buffable means that as a Faith user you can apply Electrify Armament or Order's Blade to apply 75% incantation scaling extra damage of the respective element. Great spears have a strong moveset and can attack while blocking. The downside is the art sucks but you can instead opt to use a shield art like Barricade Shield or Jellyfish.

Super underrated weapon, the poke and follow-up poke catches so many people off-guard. Diamond in the rough and easily one of the better long reach weapons in the game.
There are 2 way you can go about building around this weapon. A primarily dex build which works quite well having higher physical damage to take advantage of spear talisman and counter hits and does better against the end game bosses with high holy resist. Also the better option if trying to powerstance 2 of them.
The other way to build this is primarily faith. The damage is initially worse but you can use order's blade to buff it. This can actually result in higher ar than the dex focused build. The downside is that its more holy damage which is worse at taking advantage of counter hits and has more trouble against high holy resist bosses. Its also worse at powerstancing since you can only buff one of the weapons.
