Troll's Hammer is a Colossal Weapon in Elden Ring. The Troll's Hammer scales primarily with Strength, Faith, and Dexterity, and is a good Weapon for dealing Physical Damage, but also can deal Fire Damage. This weapon is best used when surrounded by multiple foes due to its accompanying Skill, Troll's Roar.  This allows the user to distance themself away from nearby enemies, by generating a shockwave that blows them back.

Mining tool of stonedigger trolls used to crack bedrock.

Trolls are descended from the giants,
and these were supposedly once used as ceremonial smithing tools.
In the distant past, smithing was considered divine.

This weapon makes me wish we had a fire weapon buff spell in the game like Carthus Flame Arc from DS3, Black Flame Blade duration is too short and Fire Grease is too weak at high level

      • Anonymous

        humm just to know
each time u put grease or something else on it
it loose is fire attribute .

so no 2 elements on this weapons.

        • Anonymous

the flame effect it applies to enemies is different from normal fire. it's orange, almost red in colour rather than mostly yellow

          • Anonymous

with 54 strength 70 faith you can use bloodflame blade to take this over 1000 AR with no other buffs. optionally Combine with Flame, Grant me Strength, Roar Medalion, Alexander’s Shard, and the Highland Axe for an insane damage in one hit

            • Anonymous

Troll’s with with Ragagon sore seal , astrologer’garb, you can use it around lv 50 sort of glass hammer build and that’s with no buffs

              • Anonymous

this has no reason being as stupidly damaging as it is, 44 str and 43 fth on a 150 wretch this thing does 774 1h to 854 2h and that's not even accounting buffs and talismans so please do not sleep on this nor underestimate it just because every 1 in 200 people in pvp use this, all my enemies did and they've gone the way of the fire giants for it

                • Anonymous

Will never understand why these cool +25 weapons aren't infusable. All I want is a colossal version of the Stone Club.

                  • Anonymous

Since it scales to Strength, Dexterity, and Faith, this seems to be the weapon that potentially deals the highest damage per hit. Maxing out the three stats gives a 1015 damage when wielded two-handed.

                    • Anonymous

Roar Medallion + Shard of Alexander + Axe Talisman + Highlander Axe (off-hand) + Troll's Roar + Two-handed Strong Attack = Big Damage Numbers.
This weapon is a monster! Don't forget to crouch attack, often.

                      • Anonymous

Little known about this weapon is that it does the highest poise damage on Jumping R2s (both 1H and 2H), Guard Counters (both 1H and 2H), and Powerstanced Jumping L1s.

Comparisons below are to other weapons in the Colossal Weapon category, including the Giant-Crusher and the Prelate's Crozier.

                        1H j.R2 = 30 compared to 27.5
                        2H j.R2 = 33 compared to 30.5
                        Powerstanced j.L1 = 18+18 compared to 16.5+16.5
                        1H GC = 45 compared to 42
                        2H GC = 49.5 compared to 45.75

The Troll's Hammer colossal weapon deals Physical and Fire damage by default and allows external weapon buffs from spells and weapon greases - it's weapon art (Troll's Roar) isn't great for PvP, however it's fine for PvE and can be very powerful when synergised with talisman, plus it deals STRIKE type physical damage at 16.0 units and at +25 has a low B (97) STR scaling, a high E (22) DEX scaling and a mid-high D (45) FTH scaling means that if you're playing a Faith+Strength user you can add a lightning or holy damage buff to it, granting you 3 separate damage types, and then an additional boost in damage from the Strength scaling when wielded 2handed.

The fact this weapon can be buffed means that if you're primarliy invested in Faith, an Erdtree Seal +10 at 80 Faith will grant it an extra +265 lightning/holy damage (or 229 fire with Blackflame). With Golden Vow and FGMS it can reach an AR value higher than the Giant Crusher or Prelate's when fully buffed and 2handed (assuming 60str), it's the next best option to deal Strike damage with huge AR that doesn't weight more than 20+ units or deal holy damage. Absolute 9.5/10 weapon for a Faith Strength 2hander build.

I am so sick of trolls roar being stuck on half the cool collosal weapons, Fromsoft, please, let us equip ashes of war on more things. I BEG!

                            • The faith scaling and fire base are pretty pathetic, so treat this as a pure strength weapon. Slap on just a little faith + clawmark seal and you're good to go. I'm running 17faith currently for lightning spear/ beast vitality but everything else is dumped into vig/end/str.

                              • Anonymous

This is turning out to be a pretty solid weapon for a STR/ Faith hybrid build and one you should seriously consider fully upgrading given it's one of the few weapons that suit that type of build that get upgraded by regular smithing stones. Other than your Clawmark Seal and maybe a greatshield if you use one of those, you're going to have a limited number of Somber Ancient stones to fully upgrade your weaponry and a bunch of extra normal ancient smithing stones. Somber weapons with hybrid scaling is going to start outperforming "normal" weapons because we don't have affinities that tend to handle mixed scaling like that. Quality combines DEX and STR, but there isn't an equivalent for STR and Faith or DEX and INT.

The Troll's Hammer is an "extra" weapon you can have available that doesn't eat up your somber stones, and it does bonk damage for crystalians and other irritating enemies that are weak to it on top of allowing you to buff it with incantations despite doing some non-physical damage, one of the very few weapons that allows that currently.

What's weird to me is that this game has plenty of weapons with innate lightning scaling (greatclaw, prosthesis) but no weapons that come innately with "fire-affinity" type scaling, that is, fire which scales with strength, which you can only apply to weapons that accept infusions instead. This would have been a pretty cool weapon if the fire damage scaled with strength instead of a low D in faith

                                  • Anonymous

Of all the things to have faith scaling, this was one I could never have seen coming. Yet somehow, prelate's hammer, used by fire using guys, is purely strength. Why are there so many int/fth scaling melee weapons in this game?

                                    • Anonymous

I know this weapon isn’t the best of the best, but it’s nice that it can be buffed with grease and spells to crank the damage up. I used fire grease and flame grant me strength plenty of times for satisfying damage. Another pro about this weapon is its low weight compared to other colossal weapons as well

                                      • Anonymous

I like that the design on the hammer is six smaller circles around a central circle, same as the eye of the fire giant.

                                        • Anonymous

Did some comparisons between this and the Giant-Crusher to prep for a new character. Assuming 66 Strength and 9 Dexterity (the Hero starting value), it takes 36 Faith for a Troll's Hammer +25 to match the one-handed AP (814) of a Heavy Giant-Crusher +25. When two-handed, though, the Heavy Giant Crusher has 911 AP, which the Troll's Hammer can't match without major investments in both Dexterity and Faith. That being said, AP is not necessarily the be all, end all for every player.

This weapon is a confused mess. Why does it have higher dexterity than faith scaling when it's a GIANT HAMMER that is intended to be a phys/fire weapon? why the hell does the faith scaling stuck at D? If it had like S tier strength scaling I could understand, but it only goes up to B tier strength scaling at best. I upgraded this thing to +7, got frustrated at how little damage i did, swapped to a random dagger on my strength build for science, and the dagger does like 3X more DPS than this hammer. I don't know if other colossal weapons are just as bad or if this one is especially terrible, but wow is this a mess of a weapon.

The WA gives good hyperarmor and has crazy high stagger, I was able to poise through a jumping greathammer hit with only 11 poise mid animation. Does decent damage with alexander's jar shard, roar talisman, and highland axe in your offhand.

This weapon is so far the best weapon to kill any crystal/rock enemies(those who inside any mine), including all crystal boss

Wait wait wait... is this really one of the few weapons that can be enchanted while still having int/faith scaling?

it's in Old Atlus Tunnel, the same place you get the Great Club. it's an item you can find in the dungeon inside of a shed, while the club is what the boss at the end drops

                                                    • Anonymous

Where do you get it from? It's not in the Limgrave Tunnels where you fight the first troll and get the shout from.
