Cool! I like this DLC weapon!
.........Huh? Wrong page???
Isn't this the DLC Weapon???
The appearence is identical to the DLC weapon!!!
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Wish this was an infusable weapon so I could put waves of darkness/spinning gravity thrust and live out my dreams of being a royal gravity knight… CURSE YOU MIYAZAKI!
As of the dlc patch, thos sword is now goooood. Time to troll.
- Anonymous
It's a beautiful sword, it's a shame it's just not very good at anything when compared to any of its peers.
- Anonymous
if you're running a strength build with 20ish int, this thing actually has better damage than the Zwei with either cold or magic infusions. Its not by a small amount either. The only thing that is left to be desired is the ash, which while great for getting groups off of you, you're never landing that slam against anything but normal enemies
Its a beautiful looking weapon though
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I would've thought it would have an Ash variant of Greatblade Phalanx. Troll's roar is alright, but not all that thematically fitting IMO.
- Anonymous
Gives the gargoyle armaments a run for pointlessness. Doesn't do anything a zwei can't do better except maybe rushing this out the gate for the ash.
- Anonymous
Subpar weapon. However, grabbing this is the fastest way to shout crystallians to death and that's always super funny
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Higher int requirement than the starscourge greatswords and the ruins greatsword

I don't think any weapon in the game was done dirtier than Troll Knight's Sword, and a lot of weapons were done very dirty in this game
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Update: I don’t think the Spellblade set boosts this… I tested on the omen near underground roadside, without Spellblade hat it was 1074. With Spellblade hat, it was still 1074…
- Anonymous
For your consideration: Spellblade set would buff the Ash of War, as would roar medallion and highland axe. I think a build that specialized into this AoW could actually squeeze crazy damage out of it, right? At least in PvE.

Miyazaki... any other aow would have been better, hell even sweep :(
- Anonymous
Looks smexy, but is heavily countered by the Royal Greatsword.
Did some testing with this. A magic zweihander has roughly the same attack, except that the troll's knight sword is slanted towards physical due to having lower INT scaling. The problem is, you want the magic damage to be as high as possible because magic damage is easier to scale compared to physical, since you can use talismans and tears to scale it easily.
Its also shorter than the zweihander and its locked into troll's roar, a mediocre skill that deals very little damage and is very slow.
Just use a magic zweihander, or a heavy zweihander buffed with scholar's armament. A meteorite staff actually gives you more magic damage with scholar's armament than the troll's knight sword at +5.
- Anonymous
Imagine if this had a colossal sword version of the Carian Knight's Sword unique r2.
- Anonymous
this is the best weapon in the game early on. On top of all the bonuses of colossal swords this has the amazing stab heavy that only troll and zweihander has but since this is a somber weapon you can easily upgrade it to +9
- Anonymous
This thing would've been unstoppable if it were buffable/infusible. Like a magic version of the Lothric Knight GS from DSIII
- Anonymous
The ash of war should have been greatblade phalanx with an overhead slash followup
- Anonymous
its dumb that this magical blade (that weve seen do magical things) does not have a magical ash of war or even the ability to add one.
this sword looked so cool but sadly it was a let down.
- Anonymous
i don't even care if i'm losing out on ~200 ar in infusions, this looks fashionable as **** and it has that smexy zweihander ugs pierce so i'm gonna own this thing til the day i die
- Anonymous
Makes zero sense that these are farmable when there is literally no point in having more than one since you can't infuse it or change its ash of war.
- Anonymous
Out of all the weapons that are not infusable, this is one that definitely should have been. Such an amazing looking weapon but tragically stuck with split damage and a dogshit AoW. Would have made exponentially more sense if it at least had a greatblade version of Glintblade Phalanx like the troll you get it from. Only thing this has going for it over the Troll's Golden Sword is its thrust R2 and slightly better reach but that's it.
- Anonymous
Absolutely should of had great blade phalanx as it's AOW. That and obviously better scaling on strength and INT.
- Anonymous
In my heart this is a strength/int weapon. It's objectively not and I'm doing nothing but sacrificing nearly 100 points of damage for absolutely no benefit by using it, but I can believe.
- Anonymous
Maybe not the best, but i kinda reminds me of Uriziel from Gothic, so what can i do :p plus with all the buffs the roar is pretty good for groups wich are a pain if you get overwelmd as a low hp mage.
- Anonymous
Of course the colossal sword that doesnt look like a bar of metal performs the worst.
- Anonymous
This sword is evidence that having more weapons isn’t necessarily good. Seriously, why do weapons like this even exist (other than fashion) if there are objective upgrades?
- Anonymous
It hurts so bad that this is a straight-up downgrade from the basic Troll's Golden Sword with a magic ash. This is the coolest CS in the game, and it was such a missed opportunity to give it a cooler ash

I see 3 trolls at that tower not 2. Bnaished Knight Greatswords seem bettter than this weapon though.
- Anonymous
This can also drop from the troll defending the converted fringe tower.
- Anonymous
an underestimated early game powerhouse. I've been using it on my lvl 50 invading build and a well placed heavy attack will do half a persons hp
- Anonymous
Ash of War should be the running move that the knight trolls do, can activate it 3 times

The Troll Knight's Sword is not a optimal weapon at High Rune Levels.
-HOWEVER-
It is very powerful, as a magic Colossal Sword at Low-Mid Rune Levels due to High Base Damage, Relatively low stats requirement & being very easy to upgrade to +3-4-5 very early.
Weather or not it is worth the trouble over a Frost Zweihander, which will have a bit less DMG(but close to) while being Lighter & having Frost.
So good at 14-20STR & 18INT but it will not reward you for having Higher stats, Unlike all the other Infusable Colossal Swords.
It is like the Meteor Staff of Magic Colossal Swords, good when you get but will get outshines by other weapons.
- Anonymous
Zweihänder is better in every way with less stat investment.
- Anonymous
I guess it's meant to be powerstanced with itself or another magic greatsword since it's quite disappointing on it's own...
- Anonymous
i think the worst about this weapon is that not only is the weapon art not Greatblade Phalanx like the Troll Knights all do, is that you arent allowed to put ANY ash of war on it, like a regular Glintblade Phalanx. like god DAMN, why not?
- Anonymous
the weapon art should have been the big carian phalanx that the trolls use
It's the worse version of Royal Greatsword but it has thrust R2 like Zwei. It's also the shortest Colossal sword by a huge margin so...
- Anonymous
how is this so much shorter than the gold troll sword? they're literally the exact same length in game
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Whats with all these crappy low base damage 3-way split scaling weapons? I genuinely don't understand. If you want a weapon that continues scaling well into the level 300+ range, you can literally infuse ANY weapon with the poison or blood affinities, that will give you decent 3-way split scaling AND a status effect.
- Anonymous
I like the part where you go AAAAAAAAAAAAAA and then proceed to AAAAAAAAAAAAA all over your enemies
- Anonymous
I just got it to drop from the non-respawnable Troll Knight at the Converted Fringe Tower, so it is safe to add to the page that this item has a chance to drop from ANY Troll Knight, possibly with the exception of the Bols, Carian Knight, in the Cuckoo Evergaol.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Picture this right: paired weapons that looks like the Carian Knight sword + trolls Knight sword, with the farron greatsword moveset that uses magic teleports instead of breakdancing.
- Anonymous
With 50 strength and 36 intelligence this actually does 103 more damage than a cold zweihander. The only problem is that troll's roar is an awful ash of war.
Well there is an upside for this. This is the only colossal sword other than the zweihander that has the stab R2 instead of a different one and that's arguably the best strong attack for colossal swords. It's by no means a good weapon but it does have that going for it.
- Anonymous
Just finished my first playthrough of elden ring using this
- Anonymous
Early game weapon for a Str/int build but your probably better off rushing ruins greatsword in caelid with summon cheese and cranking strength asap so you don’t have to level dex
- Anonymous
"B D C scaling in Strength, Dex, and Int respectively. Great blade phalanx for the AoW" - wtf is that line? Is this a wish list or what.
- Anonymous
Come on FromSoftware, this thing is too beautyful to be that bad.
- Anonymous
Average scaling. Double-digit weight units. No critical modifier. Un-buffable. Split Damage. Sheesh. Dark Souls 1 had many cumbersome weapons no ever used: Stone Greatsword, Titanite Catchpole, Artorias Greatsword, Server, etc. I didn't think the trend would continue.
- Anonymous
Horrible weapon, i upgraded it only because im running a "all equipment blue" build and is the only blue colossal sword, i dont care about the damage or scaling, but why the hell im not allowed to change the garbage aow if is not even a unique aow for the weapon?! The troll roar is just ok and it feels rewarding when i actually knock down a player with it, but is so slow, does low damage and the range is bad, the only good thing is that it has a small lingering hitbox and you can hit anyone from any side, but it should have, i dunno, the same abilities the trolls using it do?
- Anonymous
I'm not sure if I'm accurate or not but recently after one of these patches I noticed that if you press R2 after the trolls roar there is a follow up attack. Does great damage in pve. Haven't tried it yet in pvp.
- Anonymous
This sword just makes me so sad, like it’s one of the best looking colossal swords but the damage is just so blatantly low that it isn’t really worth using. It gets heavily outdamaged by the royal greatsword on a str-int build and a magic zweihander on a pure int build, and the only build where it even stands a chance is quality-int but you won’t get good damage returns until like sl200+. The AoW being locked to trolls roar is also terribly unfortunate, as something like carian grandeur or greatblade phalanx would fit much better.
- Anonymous
Devs got really lazy with this weapon. It looks nice and deserves more fitting magic-themed ash of war
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This isn’t a random drop, the troll knight in caria manor has a guaranteed drop first kill
- Anonymous
...Why doesn't this come with Carian Greatsword as the larger counterpart to the Carian Knight Sword?

- Anonymous
I've found the build solution for this weapon.
A ~RL130 build (60vig, 20mind, 30end, 36str, 36dex, 18int) gives you 796 AR. Minimizing INT minimizes the magic damage making the physical shine through split damage.
A ~RL150 build just pumps the str and dex to 46, making the swords paper damage go to 848 AR.
These builds were made on the Hero starting class using starscourge & stargazer heirlooms, milicents prosthesis (dex heirloom if unavailable) to keep rune level down while having 60 vig, you can probably use the points in endurance and mind if you want, and the last slot is your choice, I chose Alexander's for more WA damage.
A wretch is most likely more efficient, but my character at the time was the hero class.
- Anonymous
Absolutely hate that this is the best looking colossal sword (imo) and you can't swap AoWs. In the end I'm still going to use it, but everytime the AoW fails me I'm gonna be mad.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
The only build and playthrough i do want to use it, it doesnt drop. Why are these great games tainted by ****ing rng man
- Anonymous
B D C scaling in strength, dex, and int respectively. Great blade phalanx for the AoW. And Just like that this weapon would hit as good as it looks.
- Anonymous
I was struggling to take on the 3 crystal knight boss from the crystal dungeon, until I equipped this sword and used the weapon arc, it became a very easy boss fight, if you are struggling with these guys and have the stats for the sword, give it a bash
It is also entertaining to just yell at enemies, it's not the best weapon, but it certainly has a charm about it
- Anonymous
the fact that this doesnt scale to INT over STR or DEX makes this inferior to every other colossal sword. considering guts sword is on a free carriage and does highest damage and zwei you can buy and is the lightest puts this sword i poo poo tier
- Anonymous
It looks so beautiful for a Colossal Sword the only issue is the skill it has doesn't really match up to it. Greatblade Phalanx wouldve been fitting for this since this sword is Carian in design, great enemy example using this is Bols Carian Knight.
- Anonymous
Despite what others are saying, this weapon hits like a truck considering how early you get it. For reference I’m only level 57 @ raya lucaria & I’ll probably phase it out later on in my play through, but it’s a nice placeholder and fun to use

I had this drop from the headless troll at the Four Belfries.

Gonna use this or frost Zwei before I acquire Blaidd's sword. Probably a good stepping stone weapon that's means to be tossed aside late game.

Looks pretty good, but the damage output is not very satisfying considering its requirements and scaling... Not heavy though, 18 weight is lighter than most colossal swords.
- Anonymous
Are you sure about the 8% drop chance? Cause I fought this dude 3 times with 3 different characters, and each time I got this sword. The last time I already had one in my inventory though, so someone else drops it, maybe the one in front of Converted Fringe Tower?
- Anonymous
this is one of the most gorgeous colossal swords I have ever seen, sure it may not be the best colossal sword (the int requirement could be a little lower), but the damage is still usable. I've been using it since I got it.
- Anonymous
If only this had a skill like Carian Greatsword/Grandeur, Troll's Roar just doesn't fit the magic style every other glintstone-infused weapon has. It's such a cool-looking weapon, but it sucks that its weapon skill doesn't match the rest of the weapons like it
- Anonymous
While it may seem a little against logic to do so, I started running this as a heavy-stagger option on a dex-int build. It performs about as well as it does on str-int, but since dex-int largely lacks similar options the weapon keeps ending up in my hands against slower/sturdier opponents.
- Anonymous
It also drops from the Ghost Troll Knigt and has a special dual wielding attack: if you wield 2 at once, the second attack changes into an attack with both blades
- Anonymous
Do any other GS or Colossal swords have the same move set as this with the beautiful R2 poke?
- Anonymous
Got it first try on ghost troll north of liurnia highway north
- Anonymous
Under rated in my opinion. You can get it early and it costs somber stones to upgrade which means its not a big commitment. I'm mostly int with some strength and I'm switching between MLGS, Royal GS, and this. The poke is always nice, charged R2 poke paired with the weapon art lets you bully some bosses with the stagger. Maybe not super OP but for the first 3/4 of the game so far it is pretty solid.
The Troll Knight in front of Converted Fringe Tower in Northeast Liurnia can also drop this sword. The one the map originally said dropped the second Giant Hunt Ash of War besides the Night's Cavalry over between the North Academy Gate Grace and Bellum Church Grace.
It was removed a couple days ago and now there's no icons for any drops from the Troll Knight in front of Converted Fringe Tower anymore, but I definitely got the Troll Knight Sword from it, so I guess all Troll Knights have a chance of dropping it since others have gotten the sword from the spectral/magic/summoned one between the Liurnia Highway North and Gate Town Bridge Grace Sites, at the camp where you can find the Lucerne and the soldiers fighting spectral summons in the highway road going underneath the lookout tower's cliff
- Anonymous
I got it from the Troll Knight at the converted fringe tower. Too bad it was on the wrong character
I got this after I killed that knight guy before Rellana!
...Oh, wrong page?
My bad...
