Veteran's Prosthesis is a Fist in Elden Ring. The Veteran's Prosthesis scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for Lightning damage builds.

instead attached to the fist. Commander Niall, veteran of Castle
Sol, offered this prosthesis in exchange for the lives of defeated

Man imagine if this weapon didn't exist and he just dropped an ash of war for storm kick.
This thing is so fun to use, one of my new favorite weapons. It’s got a phenomenal running R1 with a big thrust and the running R2 combos into an uncharged R2, very fast since it’s a fist weapon, and it’s ash of war is really underrated. It does a ton of damage for only 10 fp AND you look sick using it. Highly, HIGHLY recommend it to people!

The ash of war actually does pretty great damage for only 10 fp. The follow up lightning slam doesn't even cost anything, only the initlal storm bit.

You get more damage on a quality build than on a pure dex build with this weapon
50 STR 40 DEX = 583 AR
20 STR 70 DEX = 566 AR

As much as I hate fighting the boss, Commander Niall is one badass mf. I wouldn't mind dying and serving under him as a knight, if just to gank poor, unsuspecting fools

This weapon scales better with dex, since the strength scaling only increases the physical damage and the dex scaling increases both lightning and physical, you’ll get more AR investing for dex here.

It really bothers me the From seemingly refused to let the creativity of the idea of this weapon shine. A bladed peg leg weapon sounds so cool but because it doesn't fit any existing weapon class we have to make the biggest reach in logic to turn a leg prosthetic into a fist weapon. Why design a boss with a unique weapon and fighting style that will drop said weapon only to not let players use the fighting style? It's such a disappointment and an awful tease, imagine if Radahn's rememberance didn't give you his twin swords or bow but a talisman that altered Torrent's stats slightly

I know everyone's making MGS jokes but holy **** it looks ****ing ugly. Look closely at it.

Honestly, the best way to do this is to let the shield knight stay alive and get hits in until he switches to phase 2

Of ****ing course it scales with strength even thought lightning is supposed to scale with dex, nice logic fromsoft.

Kinda wish the AoW was a stance that could transition into either a rushdown-kick or a high-powered short range lightning blast. The skill normally just isn’t that great, it looks cool, but I feel like it could’ve been way more badass.

This thing is actually really solid versus the Banished Knights in Farum Azula. The Weapon Art staggers and then pancakes them - you have to be right up in their face to do this, and you can wait 1 second while they're on the ground (waiting out their i-frames), and queue it up again so that they're pancaked again immediately. The lightning damage is very good against them, especially if you can start off the fight by backstabbing one of the knights (critical hits benefit split damage a lot).
Still wish it had better scaling and that we got kicks instead, but oh well.

If you're wondering why this weapon scales its lightning damage so little.
Because lightning always scales better with dexterity than with strength. I don't understand why they made this weapon scale better with strength than with dexterity.
This weapon could have been much better than it currently is.

Rocket: I'm gonna need a few things to make you Elden Lord...get me that dudes leg.
So weird question, does the lightning scale with strength and dexterity? Because the scaling profile looks rather similar to split damage weapons where one atat controls the weapon art

Now that I know this is practically a metal gearr reference, I wanna do a stealth playthrough with this, the sneak talismans and a bow and see how many places I can get thru without being caught by enemies

My damage with this is 623 at 58 str and 58 dex +10. I’ve enjoyed it with the rotten insignia and shard of alexander. The Ash of war is pretty fun to use.

Would've loved if it's an ash of war, like the Hoarah Loux Earthshaker, and it lets you kick enemies like Niall.

Boss, is that you? Like idk if the MGSV reference is intentional or coincidental, like I get how it's a theming, and boss isn't the first, but it's just... Idk

Still kinda bummed it wasn’t an actual peg leg/leggings when you get the weapon drop, same thing with malenia’s sword and gauntlet.
I understand why they couldn’t do it, still won’t stop me from dreaming of being a cripple with a peg leg.

I was very surprised to see that we actually get one for each hand, and not just a single fist weapon like the grafted dragon

Would've been cool if you did a light attack while doing the ash of war, your character would do a very powerful storm kick that sends small/medium sized enemies knock down, although the hitbox would be very tight imo.

Commander Niall, leading an army with no nation. A respectable commander who has also lost a limb. Sounds like a MGSV reference. Specially considering Venom Snake infamous lightning prosthesis attack lol.
I will use an infant's head and some dude's fake leg to claim the Elden Ring!

Got so excited when I saw this weapon drop after beating Niall, thinking I had just gotten a bladed kicking weapon! Ah, what a shame. One day Miyazaki will let me live out my kung fu warrior dreams.

*Tarnished: Whooshh, Fizzz, POM!* Niall: "You are 1000 years too green to mimic my triumphant thundering thunder tight thump, o' tarnished."

Is anyone else confused by the item description for this? If Niall "offered this prosthesis in exchange for the lives of defeated knights held prisoner", why does he still have the prothesis when we encounter him? Wouldn't the presence of the spectral banished knights at Castle Sol mean that he'd already made the deal and offered the prothesis in exchange for the spirits?

Pretty good for a STR build, I'm using the Giant Crusher as my main weapon and needed something with Slash and Pierce damage but also low-weight to keep me at med load and this checked all the boxes, cool AOE Ash of War too when surrounded.

My only complaint is you don't actually kick with any of these moves. Come on FROM let me be medieval kung fu man.

Weapon Art doesn't scale with the Claw Talisman (Enhances Jump Attacks).

Comments on the weapon: Personally, I feel this is better than duel dagges, (not counting duel reduvias), the lightning element is definitely a plus, I use this as secondary after my golden halberd in PVP with my STR/FTH build if the guy tries to charge at me, especially those with twin katanas, still have no idea how to counter them with heavy weapons, if they try to trade blows they get stun locked by lightning. The WA catches people by surprsie, storm kick thrusts the blade in the ground, creating a miniture wind wall similar to the banished knights, an addition heavy attack in-put launches you up, imbuing the weapon with lighting effect and slams it down. If people wanted to roll back you could definitely catch them open with the follow-up.
Dont know if it has a longer reach then a dagger.
The con would be the weight, this thing is heavy and might affect your choice of weapons if you decide to equip this as secondary. Plus you get this really late game. Also you stole some vet's leg, not the arm, which makes it weirder

yeah but can I switch the Weapon Art to Shinobi Firecrackers or maybe Shuriken Launcher?

if only we had it on our leg as well. kick weapons would be an awesome addition

Something I only found out after seeing my mimic using this.. heavy attack right after using the ash and you will make a lightning jump attack.

Extremely high damage with WA if you do it in water i think. Or against armour?

Very solid weapon, kinda odd scaling, and you really need to land both hits of Storm Kick for it to be worth using (quick & cheap way to get some free poise, though). My only issue -- besides it being obtained late-game from a notoriously difficult boss -- is that we got a prosthetic leg and STILL don't get a Gundyr kick. Niall even wields a halberd ffs, it's like I'm being directly mocked.
